Emma Watson is the cover girl for the August issue of Elle UK. The magazine hasn?t hit the stands yet, but several sources have bits and pieces of the cover interview. Now, I?m not any kind of Harry Potter-loonie, but I have grown to like all of the young stars of the franchise just from reading interviews with them. Daniel Radcliffe seems like a very smart, interesting young man, and Rupert Grint just seems like a ginger hottie. Despite rumors that Emma Watson is a little diva, I tend to think she comes across as a nice girl in interviews. The worst I can say about her is that she tries a bit too hard to come across as worldly or sophisticated. But you know what? I was like that when I was her age, so I get it. She?s still figuring out her place and how to give self-effacing interviews, and she does it with grace.
Perhaps Emma seems to have such a good head on her shoulders because her parents kept her pretty limited when she was a child actor. Emma admits to Elle (this part of the interview via Digital Spy) that she had no idea how big her paychecks were from the Harry Potter films:
Emma Watson has admitted that she did not know how much money she was earning from the Harry Potter movies until she was 18. The actress, who plays Hermione Granger in the magical franchise, told Elle that she took a bank course to help her cope with the reported 10 million pounds that she took control of on her birthday.
“My dad never told me how much money I was earning. Then, when I hit 18, he was like, ‘I want you to understand that your money isn?t some kind of abstract concept. I want you to have a feel for what it?s worth and what you can do with it’,” she explained.
“The course was interesting, I?m glad I did it, but the truth is I?d just like to pretend that [the money] doesn?t exist. It?s amazing how many children are aware from such a young age about money being important or supposedly impressive.”
She added: “I really don?t have time to spend my money. Sometimes my bank manager calls me to say, ‘You haven?t used your card in a while and now you?re using it - no-one?s stolen it have they?!’”
Watson can next be seen in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, which hits cinemas next month.

That?s a great idea - making your kid take a banking class before they get access to a boatload of money. I?d bet that even without the banking class, Emma wouldn?t be pouring through her money, though. In another snippet from the Elle interview, Emma talks about how she doesn?t want to be too generic. She also basically says that Natalie Portman is her role model:
Emma Watson insists she isn?t your ?classic? public schoolgirl ? and she hates it when people judge her. She insists her clean-cut reputation is inaccurate.
?I?m not your classic public schoolgirl because I?ve been brought up in Watford,? she dished.
?And I?ve met and worked with people from a million different backgrounds? You can?t please everyone. And that?s something that I?m learning.?
?I don?t want other people to decide who I am. I want to decide that for myself. I want to avoid becoming too styled and too ?done? and too generic. You see people as they go through their career and they just become more and more like everyone else. They start out with something individual about them but it gets lost.?
?Natalie Portman is an exception. I?m in awe of how she?s handled herself.?

A lot of the younger actors have started citing Natalie Portman as their role model - she?s like the 21st century version of Jodie Foster. But for every Jodie Foster or Natalie Portman, there are a dozen Lindsay Lohans. So which will Emma end up as? My guess is something in between. Maybe I?m being too hard on Emma, but I don?t really see her career going gangbusters after Harry Potter is over. My guess is that Emma will most likely carve out a nice film and television career in Britain, but nothing like Jodie Foster or Natalie Portman.

Things are getting nasty in the divorce between Usher and soon-to-be ex-wife Tameka. In fact their friends are predicting the entire process is going to be heated. Someone told Usher that Tameka was stepping out on him around the time she got pregnant with six-month-old Naviyd. Usher believes it might be true since he and Tameka were only together once around the time she conceived. Of course, like they told you in seventh grade sex ed, it only takes one time. But Usher?s suspicious nonetheless, and insisting on a DNA test.
From the moment wife Tameka told him she was pregnant with 6-month-old Naviyd, the R&B singer was suspicious, reveals insiders. “The first thing Usher said was, ‘How did this happen?’ - because he was gone a lot, and their sex life was very, very limited,” revealed a friend of the star. Now pals are urging Usher to determine paternity with a DNA test, reveals a source. “People have been telling him that around the time the little boy was conceived, Tameka got together with another man.”
Usher loves both his sons and is going to fight for custody, divulged his friend. “But he’s determined to get truthful answers.” Meanwhile, Tameka is fighting back hard - charging that 30-year-old Usher has been playing around, revealed an insider.
“Tameka also insists that Usher is Naviyd’s father. She says that although they weren’t spending much time together, they did get together for one night of passion. And that’s when she got pregnant.”? By the time Naviyd was born this past December, the couple was reportedly already separated. “now the war is truly on,” said the insider.

From the way the friend phrases it, it almost sounds like Usher is going to fight for custody of both of his sons regardless of paternity results, which could be interesting. The Enquirer goes on to talk about how scared Tameka is that she?ll end up poor again, and as a result she?s going to fight tooth and nail for everything she has. There?s as much as $80 million at stake here, and everyone was calling Tameka a gold digger long before she and Usher tied the knot.
Neither of these two strike me as model spouses, and they?re being remarkably immature for grown adults. Their friends are passing information about the two like it?s eighth grade. Luckily their sons are too young to know what?s going on. But I?m sure the drama is just beginning.

I don’t know the first thing about composition, lighting or anything, but I can tell that Richardson is pure genius.

Her brother Colin walked her down the aisle. Hef was originally slated to do the honor but Wilkinson changed her mind.
Not many guys would be down with your getting married at your ex’s mansion. Especially if your ex was going to be sitting in the audience surrounded by the other whores with whom you used to have lesbian threesomes for his entertainment. Hef might as well have thrown used condoms and Viagra at him instead of rice.

Johnny Depp is lovely enough on his own. Give me Johnny just sitting there, being pretty and sexy, and I?m a happy girl. But give me Johnny Depp gossiping in French, and I need to cross my legs. So imagine Johnny?s Public Enemies co-stars? problem - especially for Marion Cotillard, who actually understood what and who Johnny was gossiping about.
Johnny admitted in a recent interview that he and Marion would speak French together on the set of Public Enemies. Johnny became fluent when he fell in love with a lovely French girl (Vanessa Paradis) and ran off with her to the French countryside to have babies and be wonderful. According to Cotillard, Johnny?s French is ?excellent? but his constant French gossip became an issue because of Cotillard?s difficult accent work for the film - Johnny was breaking her concentration. She basically had to beg Johnny to stop whispering French nothings into her ear. God, now I have to cross my legs again.
Johnny Depp gossiped about his ‘Public Enemies’ co-stars in French.
The 46-year-old actor has revealed he and French beauty Marion Cotillard would speak to each other in the European language so cast and crew members would not know what they were talking about.
He said: “We would sometimes speak French to each other on the set, especially when we didn’t want anyone else to know what we were saying!?
However, the 33-year-old actress quickly grew tired of speaking in her native language because she felt it was affecting her acting.
She said: “Johnny’s French is excellent. But I could not let myself lapse into speaking a lot of pure French with Johnny. I was working so hard to really perfect the accent of my character Billie Frechette, and that was not easy. She was of mixed heritage - both French and Native American - and supposedly had an accent that was quite different.”
Johnny - who lives in the South of France with his long-term partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children, 10-year-old Lily-Rose and Jack, seven - praised his co-star for her acting skills and can understand why his character was attracted to Billie.
He said: “Marion really worked hard on that accent, and I think the way she speaks in the film adds so much to the personality of the character she plays. You can see why Dillinger fell in love with her so easily.”
Although Johnny and Marion were happy to gossip off-screen, their co-star Christian Bale admits he was more reclusive.
He said: “I wish to not talk unless we’re doing the scene. I enjoy it that way. Johnny seemed happy to do it that way, too. So the answer is, no, we really didn’t get to know each other better between each take. So I guess I’ll have to wait and get to know Johnny Depp someday.”

I?m utterly ambivalent about Marion and Christian Bale, but I?ll see Public Enemies for Johnny. I?m kind of surprised with how much of the film?s promotional duties Johnny has taken on - it?s so unlike him. Is this an even better version of Johnny Depp, the man we already loved? The new Johnny Depp gossips in French and takes Vanity Fair reporters on rum-soaked yacht trips. Sigh. How is it that Johnny just keeps getting better and better?

Star claimed Jason proposed to Britney during their vacation in the Bahamas. Everyone pish-poshed that report, but over the weekend, Britney was flashing a diamond ring all over LA.
If true, this could be good for Britney since Jason doesn’t seem to be an aspiring rapper. He’s merely responsible for her success or failure. What could go wrong? Especially after their inevitable break-up? “What? No. Your duet with the world’s biggest pig at the county fair was booked months ago. Before we broke up. Cross my heart,” swears Jason.

Britney Spears’ new relationship with her agent Jason Trawick has been semi-confirmed and it looks like she’s relieved that the news is out. She looks incredibly happy whenever she’s seen out with him. Britney sported a diamond engagement-looking ring on her left ring finger while out in LA on Friday, sparking speculation that she’s engaged. Star Magazine ran a story last week that Britney and Jason are engaged and are planning a December wedding. If it’s true, Britney may have decided that she didn’t want to break the news to the public after all. On Friday she showed off the ring by holding her hand out, but by Saturday she sported newly-dyed brunette hair and wore the pretty diamond ring on her middle finger. I’m hoping it’s true and that things are getting serious for Britney abut we’ll have to wait and see.
Britneys’ Twitpic account, the mobile photo upload service used to post photos to Twitter, was hacked. Someone posted a false message that claimed that she had died. Diddy and Ellen Degeneres’ Twitpic accounts were also hacked. Twitpic is not owned by Twitter. They assured users that they’re working on fixing the security vulnerability.

Britney’s ever-changing hair has long been used as a barometer of her internal mood.
At the top of her game it was long, blonde and glossy - at her lowest it was shorn to reveal her bald scalp.
So, as she stepped out with rumored fianc Jason Trawick [and a huge sparkling diamond on her ring finger], her newly brunette hair was bound to raise eyebrows.
You know, because dyeing her hair and marrying a member of her entourage worked out so well before. Some people just can’t bear to leave the familiar comfort of the previously-trodden path. Even if that path is actually a downward spiral into the gaping maw of public shame and humiliation. At least you know what to expect at the end.

Vanessa Minnillo isn’t wasting any time since her high profile break up with Nick Lachey. The 28 year-old former MTV VJ was spotted dirty dancing and making out with actor Topher Grace, 30, at a party at Seth MacFarlane’s house on Saturday night. The two obviously met that night as they exchanged numbers and then moved on from there. They even left together at the end of the night:
Just days after announcing her breakup with Nich Lachey, beautiful Vanessa Minnillo seemed to heal her broken heart very, very fast - with Topher Grace!
And it all happened right before our Radar eyes.
The party of the year took place Saturday night at Seth MacFarlane’s and while we were enjoying the outdoor casino and the orchestra (yes, that’s right an orchestra) we saw Vanessa and Spider-Man 3 star Topher chatting. Topher then started rubbing her arm, and Vanessa whispered in his ear and they exchanged phone numbers.
Before long they were on the dance floor and putting the “dirty” in dirty dancing. Vanessa took off her shoes and held them in one hand, wrapping her other arm around Topher’s neck and the next thing we knew she was kissing him on the neck!
In a bit of perfect timing the DJ spun “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon and Vanessa turned her back to Topher, and did a super hot grind/dance while he played with her hair. The music switched to The Jackson Five’s ABC and that’s when Vanessa and Nick, er Topher, (sorry, it’s so hard to make the transition, for us, not her) starting MAKING OUT right on the dance floor!
Yup, we tried not to stare but we pretty much were staring. Ok, we were staring pretty hard. Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday they left the party — together. We’re so happy when love blooms right in front of us.

We don’t hear enough gossip about Topher Grace and I have no clue who he’s dated. According to Who’s Dated Who he’s been linked with Audrey Tautou, Emmy Rossum, Ivanka Trump, Anne Hathaway, Ginnifer Goodwin, Mika Kelly and even Scarlett Johansson, among many. He starred with Johansson in 2004’s In Good Company, and some of those alleged relationships were likely just rumors based on his female co-stars at the time.
Vanessa seems kind of superficial but she’s harmless enough. We’ll have to wait and see if this hookup with Topher Grace turns into something more. I wouldn’t mind reading about this new relationship in the tabloids for a few weeks, but I tend to think she’s too high maintenance for him. She’s out having fun now but she’s ultimately looking to settle down. Maybe Topher wants a longterm girlfriend, though. It’s hard to tell, but we don’t hear much about him behaving badly or picking up random women at bars.

Madonna was seen giving her newly adopted daughter, Mercy James, 4, a piggy back ride outside the Kabbalah center in London on Saturday. Reports vary as to Mercy’s age, but she definitely looks 4 or older. She’s a cutie and looks like a sweet little girl. You can understand why Madonna was so adamant about giving her a home. Mercy looked a little bewildered when she first arrived in London, but she seems comfortable and happy with Madonna and is probably getting used to her new situation.
The 50 year-old pop singer was also seen out at dinner last week holding a portable nebulizer, which is used to administer medication as a fine mist. It is likely that she was using it to treat and/or preserve her voice ahead of her concert tour this summer. Madonna will play 24-cities in a 2 month tour that starts this weekend in London, on July 4.
Madonna has expressed her grief at the death of Michael Jackson. She issued a statement that she “can’t stop crying over the sad news,” and that her “heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family.” Madonna’s official website, Madonna.com, has also been updated with a large photo of her with Jackson at the 1991 Oscars. It’s got to be hard to see one of your old friends and contemporaries pass like that.

Joanna Garcia is joining the Privileged life of Gossip Girl as Nate’s girlfriend according to EW’s Michae;l Ausiello.
Garcia will play Bree Buckley, an irreverent, slightly evil Miss America-type who hails from a conservative Southern family. She’ll first appear in the Sept. 14 season premiere.
Looks like Chace Crawford will be the cub for another cougar. I love Joanna Garcia, but I don’t think she can play a freshman in college. Do you? Either way I am so glad to have her back on The CW! As of now she is only on for 4 episodes, but hopefully she will stay on for more!!!

Megan Fox was Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night and she made Guillermo’s year. When she came on she asked “Where is Guillermo?”, and then told him to come over for some snuggle time. Being the gentleman that his, he ran over and obliged. I just loved how excited he got and I am not talking about his chalupa! Seriously how awwwdorable is he after he got his very long embrace with her! 2 cute!!!

Jaybird usually covers the GOOP newsletters, those weekly reminders from Gwyneth Paltrow that our little lives need to be improved with her smug, patronizing sanctimony. Jaybird has pointed it out before - if these tips were coming from someone else, we might be able to stomach them. But coming from Gwyneth Paltrow, hearing about how we should just be able to saunter our way through Barcelona on a few bucks a day, or how we should ?heal our modalities? with cupping - it?s all just tedious.
Goop?s latest newsletter is a ?MAKE? (as opposed to Go, Get, Do, Be and See). Gwyneth?s task for us this week is? making a sandwich. Not just an utterly common, bourgeois, trashy peanut butter and jelly, either. Our lives will be improved so much if only we ?MAKE? a ?no-dairy, no-meat, no-white flour? vegan lunch of a Veggie Blat (with tempeh vegetarian bacon), the Un-Caesar salad with rosemary and thyme croutons (and yet, no Caesar dressing) and agave-sweetened lemonade. It seems agave is better for us peasants, as opposed to white sugar - Gwyneth knows we?re all really fat, and she?s tired of ignoring the fact that we can?t fit into her Parisian ?ethnic print? blouses.
Goop gives us very specific instructions on how to make this damn sandwich, and if we screw it up, she?s going to bad-mouth us in the press:
This MAKE is for my no-dairy, no-meat, no-white flour (if you omit the croutons) loving friends who are looking for a quick, casual summer lunch. Proof that vegan food rocks!

This sandwich impresses even the most dedicated carnivores. Full of flavor and super-satisfying, this is a lunchtime favorite in my house.
Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and cook the vegetarian bacon for a minute on each side, just enough to warm it through and get it a bit browned. Remove from the skillet and cut each slice in half.
Spread each slice of bread with a tablespoon of Vegenaise or mayonnaise, sprinkle with coarse salt and pepper. Layer the bacon, tomato, avocado and lettuce on four slices of the bread and then sandwich with the remaining four. Cut each sandwich in half and serve.

I realize that when Gwyneth explains in such detail about how to make a damn sandwich, she?s just being thorough and specific, as many cookbooks are. But because it?s Gwyneth, doesn?t it come across like she thinks we?re morons? I will give Gwyneth this one point though - I really do think she?s really writing all of this stuff. It?s written in her snotty voice. So it?s just some vanity project that?s being ghostwritten in her name - it?s a vanity project that she?s involved in at every level. So, I give her credit for that, at least.
