I love Colbie Smulders. The weird part is, I can?t point to why. I hadn?t heard of her before How I Met Your Mother and I didn?t watch that show. But I remember hearing about her casting in The Avengers and being really excited for her. I think she?s just an adore-at-first-sight thing for me. Cobie is starring in a new show called Stumptown. It premiered on Wednesday on ABC. I haven?t seen it yet but it?s based on the Stumptown graphic novels that takes place in Portland, OR (which is nicknamed Stumptown, in case anyone was wondering). The reviews for both Cobie and the show are good. Cobie was on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday to promote it. Jimmy mentioned her husband, Taran Killam?s, last visit to Jimmy?s couch. Taran stars on the show Single Parents, which is actually Stumptown?s lead in aaaaaaw. Apparently he is a huge Los Angeles Rams fan, something Cobie doesn?t quite get. Of course she doesn?t ? who would? GO NINERS!
Jimmy brings up Taran at the 2:15 mark. They?d just talked about Cobie and Taran being ask to bring in photos and witnesses to prove their relationship was legit for her Green Card interview (Cobie is Canadian). He showed a photo of Taran walking out on stage wearing a Rams sportscoat and Rams sneakers:
Your husband, Taran Killam, was here about a year ago. And he?s so American, he?s wearing Rams sports jackets now.
It?s not just the jacket, he?s also wearing Rams sneakers as well.
That we can overlook but the Rams sportscoat, is this something you approve of?
I love my husband, let?s me start with that. We?ve been together for 14 years ? this is new, Jimmy. This Rams love. You now, when the Rams came to Los Angeles, he doubled down, he went all in. I grew up in Canada, we didn?t have football in high school. I don?t understand the game. I don?t necessarily enjoy watching the game. But I love my husband, so much.
Confession: I actually watch Single Parents. It?s a crap show and I don?t know why I keep watching but it has a lot to do with Taran?s super-dorky character, Will. He?s so pure and extra, I can?t quit him. That aside, I am both confused and identify with Cobie?s story. Taran was born in 1982 in Culver City, which is LA adjacent. The Rams were still in LA at that time. They moved to St. Louis when he was 12, so I am surprised it took them coming back to go all in on his Rams devotion. They returned only three years ago. Must have been a latent love, I guess. As for Cobie?s ignorance on the sport, there is a Canadian Football League and what I can divine from what I?ve read, it switched from a rugby league to a gridiron league in the 50s. Is gridiron football really so underground in Canada?
However, I did identify with a football fanatic married to a patient non-fan. Hint: I?m the fanatic. I barely watch anymore in solidarity with Kaepernick, but I won?t pretend I don?t miss it. I went to one Rams/49ers game last season because my husband?s boss invites us once a year and it was like a drink of water when you?re parched. But when I watched, I was hollering and jumping on the couch as my husband occasionally looked up from his phone to ask if there were more chips, followed by a, ?oh, and go SF,? to appease me. It?s been like this for two decades ? and he actually played in high school. So I have a tip for Cobie: it?s all about the rivalries. Pick a rivalry game and take opposite teams. That?s the fun part. For us it?s the Army/Navy Game (go Navy!) and the USC/UCLA game (BRU-INS!). You know the old adage, it?s friendly competitive trash-talk that really brings a couple together. Oh, and Cobie ? since you aren?t that familiar, the Rams longest-standing rivals are the San Francisco 49ers. Welcome to the Gold Rush, Agent Hill!

| Cobie Smulders drove an RV cross country with her family: would you enjoy this? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Cobie Smulders was a guest on Jimmy Fallon, where she was promoting her Netflix show Friends From College. The second season, co-starring Keegan-Michael Key, premiered last week. I havent heard much buzz about it. The first season got mostly negative reviews but Dustin at Pajiba gave it a B and said its watchable and somewhat funny. He said that the characters arent likable, and that may be throwing people off.
Cobie was cute and funny on The Tonight Show. She showed photos of the RV she took across country with her husband, Taran Killam from SNL, (I forgot they were married!) and their two daughters, Shaelyn, nine, and another daughter who turns three this month. (Her name isnt public.) They drove from New York to California in the summer of 2017 when they decide to move cross country. Cobie shared a few photos on Instagram, a couple are below and you can see more on her account. (Theyre still easy to find as she doesnt post a lot. She doesnt share any pics of her kids though, which is understandable.) It took ten days and she described it as more like an experience than a vacation.
We lived in New York City for about three years. We decided when we were done and we were moving back to California we were going to drive in a giant 40-foot vehicle with our two children and it was a might undertaking. Its so fun. I mean, this country, its beautiful.
It as good. Its a big vehicle and theres toilets on it so you have to stop and get rid of that stuff. Luckily my husband dealt with that.
Its serious. Youre driving, youre spending a lot of money on gas which could be on nice hotel rooms. But it was fun we saw the Grand Canyon. We went to Graceland, which was amazing. There is an RV park attached to Graceland.
[From The Tonight Show, video below]
I was looking into getting an RV with my parents as I cant stay in many hotels due to allergies. You see all those amazing RVs on the highway and I wouldnt mind renting one for a while, but I doubt Id want the responsibility of owning one. We decided against it as it seems like such a pain in the ass. You have to maintain it, theyre hard to drive, they gas is expensive as Cobie said and its just easier to stay in hotels. We often borrowed a small one when I lived overseas though and it was nice and convenient for short trips, but I wouldnt want to be in it for days like that. I honestly didnt mind dumping the pee though and I shared that responsibility. We never went #2 in it!
Heres Cobies interview.

| Cobie Smulders had ovarian cancer at 25 & worried she wouldn't be able to have kids | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When celebrities with medical issues get pharmaceutical endorsements I almost always mention that I have mixed feelings. Its refreshing in that it comes across like a genuine partnership. It also feels like a company is using a popular face and a compelling story to sell a product (at a high price) for people in medical crisis. The FDA vets medication thoroughly and its a difficult, expensive process to get a drug approved. However companies also make small changes to drugs once theres competition just to get a new patent and charge more.
Thats all preface to this story about actress Cobie Smulders, now 36 with two children, recounting her ovarian cancer experience at just 25. She was worried that her fertility would be affected, that she wouldnt be able to have kids, and she also was frustrated at the lack of information online. This isnt the first time Cobie has talked about this, she told Womens Health about it in 2015. Cobie has been married to Taran Killam of SNL since 2012 and they have daughters Shaelyn, 9, and Joelle, 3. Shes now partnering with a company called Tesaro which has a maintenance drug for ovarian cancer called Zejula. Its priced at upwards of $10,000 a MONTH. Medicare does cover it, although I read one complaint that it costs $3,500 a month with medicare until you meet the deductible. After that its $755 a month. Still not affordable for most. (An insider in the pharmaceutical insider told me the high cost may be due to the small population being treated along with the duration of intended treatment.) Heres what she told People:
When Cobie Smulders was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she was just 25 years old and without a road map on how to get through it.
?It was a mess,? she tells PEOPLE. ?I think it was messy mostly because I had a great fear of not being able to have kids. I?ve always been very maternal, I?ve always loved children and I?ve always wanted one of my own, and so having that not being option, especially at such a young age ? kids were very much not on my mind at 25, but I still wanted them one day ? it was really hard and it was a really depressing thing to go through.?
?I remember doing mad, crazy Google searches on my disease and trying to understand it better, and obviously I was talking to my doctors, but there wasn?t at the time and it was very bleak,? she says.
Smulders went into control mode, and tried everything under the sun to get her body back to health, from cutting out cheese and carbohydrates to yoga classes, acupuncture, crystal healers and more.
Thankfully, her surgeon was able to save enough of her ovaries ? just one-third ? for her to have two kids (?it was very small but mighty, apparently,? she says) and she has been in remission for nearly a decade.
Smulders resisted talking about her cancer for years, until she revealed her battle in a 2015 issue of Women?s Health.
?For me at the time, I just wanted to deal with it on my own and with my family,? she says now. ?I wasn?t interested in sharing it with anybody. It doesn?t really benefit the world until now, when I can say, ?this is what I went through and I survived it. These are the things I did and these are the things I learned and these are the things I can show you.? Before it just felt like something I want to deal with myself.?
?There?s a statistic that 85 percent of women who had advanced ovarian cancer had a recurrence, and when you?re faced against those odds it?s a very terrifying place to be in,? she says. ?I think for those women, it?s a great opportunity to have treatment options that weren?t available to me when I was going through my own cancer. It?s kind of a new day of more options and more awareness, and a place and a time where you can get more answers.?
[From People]
If I had ovarian cancer I would want to be on a drug that had been clinically shown to quadruple the time before recurrence. (If Im reading the wiki page for it accurately.) However Im appalled at the cost, which seems so prohibitively high. The healthcare system in the US is just so broken and expensive that so many of us face the scary decision of getting treatment or going bankrupt. That issue looms for so many of us no matter how healthy we are now. A medical crisis for us or a family member could easily cost us our livelihoods.
As for Cobie I understand why shes working with this company and I dont think thats necessarily bad. Medicine is a for-profit business and its big business. Even for something we consider so personal.
Also I just learned shes Canadian. Lucky bitch.

Here is Cobie Smulders showing off her slim figure on the cover of Women?s Health?s May 2015 issue where she playfully posed topless, wearing nothing but a pair of tiny denim shorts and her killer smile.
?It was my first topless photo shoot where I wasn?t trying to appear ?sexy?, which was interesting. Because it?s a women?s magazine, I feel like being topless is more about being confident and about being happy with your body rather than trying to excite somebody else. That?s what this cover was more about.?
