Here are Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp enjoying a little downtime in between shooting scenes for The Tourist, in Venice on Friday. I like Angelina in a sweater, and I?m still loving her hair and makeup for this film. Speaking of, the plot of this movie is still totally inscrutable to me. I thought it was a modern-day action/thriller, but the way Angelina is being styled makes me think that maybe it could be a period film? I really don?t know.
Regarding the now-subdued speculation that Angelina and Johnny are enjoying each other?s company, The Daily Mail seems to be the only major publication still trying to make that happen. The Mail claims, upon seeing these photos: ?The actor was snapped rehearsing some scenes for his upcoming film The Tourist with sexy co-star Angelina Jolie. And despite only being just a few years off turning 50, he showed off a youthful and clear complexion that would leave men in their 30s feeling envious. At first glance, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was almost unrecognizable as he was snapped on board a canal taxi in the Italian city. And while Depp, 46, has been lucky to hang on to his youthful looks, working with the gorgeous Angelina, 34, must also be an uplifting experience - for any man. Not that his partner Vanessa Paradis will be pleased about that, having already expressed her concerns about him working with the Tomb Raider star.? Whatever.
But what I did find interesting - for someone like me, who actually likes Angelina?s movies - is a recent interview done with Angelina?s long-time stunt coordinator and collaborator, Simon Crane. Angelina and Simon met on the first Tomb Raider film, and The Tourist marks their sixth project together (they?ve worked together on the Tomb Raider films, Mr. and Mrs, Smith and Salt, amongst others). Note to the tabloids: Jolie?s relationship with Simon is potentially more interesting than her relationship with Johnny Depp. Anyway, Simon Crane was interviewed by The Los Angeles Times, and they even got Angelina on the record about how much she loves working with Simon:
Angelina Jolie and stunt coordinator Simon Crane share a shorthand developed over six movies in which the petite, 34-year-old actress has spent almost as much time harnessed to cables as she has sitting in the makeup chair.
“We know how to write an action sequence that plays to her skill set,” Crane says by phone from Venice, Italy, where he’s now working with Jolie and Johnny Depp on “The Tourist.” “She’s probably more opinionated and stubborn than when we first started. But then, that’s my job ? to tell her what is possible and what is not.”
Judging from the trailers for Jolie’s new espionage thriller, “Salt,” which opens July 23, we have to wonder if Crane ? or Jolie herself ? ever thinks any stunt is beyond the realm of possibility.
“Simon is the best stunt coordinator in the business as he brings each character’s unique personality into the fight scenes,” Jolie says in an e-mail. “We call him ?Dr. Crane’ because he’s the fixer. He’s the man we all call when we need something difficult done.”
“Salt” takes its name from Jolie’s CIA agent, a woman running from all kinds of trouble after being labeled a Russian sleeper spy. Over the course of the movie, Jolie makes like Dr. Richard Kimble, eluding her pursuers by jumping off bridges, hopping across high-rise ledges and leaping out of a helicopter.
“She’s absolutely fearless when it comes to high places,” Crane says. “That’s a fantastic asset to have. You can use her confidence with heights to put her in all kinds of dicey situations and know that she’s going to be convincing pulling it off.”
One example can be glimpsed in the movie’s trailer where Salt, cornered by CIA agents who refuse to listen to her, takes a flying leap, lands on top of a speeding container truck and then jumps from moving truck to moving truck before pushing a motorcyclist off his bike and escaping in a roar of engines. Through the use of cables, harnesses and safety padding, as well as the magic of post-production digital erasing, Jolie made every one of the leaps herself.
“It seems crazy, but it’s true,” Crane says. “We rehearsed everything with doubles, but Angelina was really game.”
Crane calls the bridge jump an “emotional leap” for the character. “No one in her right mind would make that jump,” he says. From there, Salt ditches the French braid and golden blond hair color for basic black, transforming herself into another kind of woman entirely.
That radical shift seems appropriate since “Salt” itself began its life several years ago as a vehicle for Tom Cruise.
“It feels a bit fresher doing all this with a woman,” Crane says, “especially a woman like Angelina, where you can make the action down and dirty. Give her a gun or a grenade and there’s no one better.”

Aw, they seem tight. Too tight? Seriously, if I worked for The Daily Mail, I could whip this relationship into something hot and spicy so fast. Angelina has known Simon longer than she?s known Brad. Scandal! Angelina allegedly demands that Simon is hired for all of her action films. Scandal! Also, by all accounts, when they work together, Simon is responsible for Angelina?s body, pretty much. He oversees her training, he makes sure she?s strong enough for the stunts. I wonder if he has intimate knowledge of her body? Hm? See how easy that is, Daily Mail?

Brightening up the fancy affair, Jessica Simpson turned up in a bright yellow frock for the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night (May 1).
The "Price of Beauty" babe was all smiles as she mingled with the star-studded guest list, during which she also chatted with press about Michelle Obama and her love life prospects.
Saying that she aspires to be like Mrs Obama, Jess tells, "I really do. She's such an incredible woman, and she's with such a powerful man."
As for what she likes most about the First Lady, Simpson said, "Everything she does she exudes confidence. I'm really just here to celebrate her."
Changing subjects, the "Dukes of Hazzard" darling was also asked about whether there's a man in her life, to which she replied, "I have some situations that I am feeling out."

Living it up in the Big Apple, Lindsay Lohan was spotted making her way around the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on Saturday (May 1).
Looking cute in a sheer black top with grey shorts, the "Mean Girls" starlet and a few friends went shopping at Topshop before grabbing a bite to eat at Havana Cafe.
Once finished up, Lindsay proceeded over to the 60 Thompson hotel to watch the Floyd Mayweather/Shane Moseley fight at a private party.
The sighting comes as LiLo's dad, Michael Lohan, has revealed his plans to return to Los Angeles on Monday to begin an attempt to set up a conservatorship for his daughter.
While many believe Michael is taking the steps to gain attention for himself, an insider said of his motivation, "Michael doesn?t want Lindsay to end up jail. He wants her in rehab but not a traditional, group facility.?

Writing on her Web site about the night, Kourtney told, "Kim, Khloe and I hosted the Beach Bunny store opening on Robertson Blvd. We all love Beach Bunny bikinis and carry them at DASH in Miami and Calabasas. We are doing a design collaboration with Beach Bunny and have each designed two swimsuits for this summer. I designed a one piece that is still sexy but a little more covered up for those days when you?re just not in the mood for a bikini. I also designed a bikini that is super easy to wear but has extra support on top, since I now have that issue lately. I can?t wait to show you what we?ve been working on!"
