Here are some new photos of Kristen Stewart arriving at LAX (the pics where she?s carrying the Chanel bag, naturally because that?s why she gets paid by Karl Lagerfeld) and then out and about in Santa Monica with a friend. The friend is Alicia Cargile, who has been close to Kristen for years. A month ago, Star Mag even ran a story about how Kristen and Alicia are quietly dating nowadays, that their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship following Kristen?s split with Sparkles. I don?t know the real story ? if they?re just friends, good for them. If they?re romantically involved, good for them.
Meanwhile, Kristen got some of the best reviews of her life with Clouds of Sils Maria, the film which debuted at Cannes and stars Kristen, Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz. Kristen didn?t have time to do wall-to-wall press, but she did sit down for a handful of interviews, including this decent piece with the Wall Street Journal. Why she signed on to Clouds of Sils Maria (where she plays an actress?s PA): ?The reason this movie was made was not to make a statement about how superficial media can be, but it was a lot of fun for me to be the one to say it. Obviously, I?ve had more experience with the media, so it makes it funnier.?
Playing a PA: ?I don?t a have a personal assistant right now, but I have had one in the past and I definitely understand the dynamic. The difference is that I never had such a co-dependent relationship.?
Kristen ?coached? Juliette Binoche: ?When we were getting out the car to walk up the red carpet, Juliette just like opened the door and started to get out. I said, ?what are you doing? A star would never do that!??
How she views her career: ?When I take on a role, I really like to think, and I do not care what people think about them afterwards. I really want the experience. I think a lot of actors?not good ones?are just product oriented, as is the business. American movies are so packaged and delivered. They think for you. Like the stories in the tabloids?they?re so easily consumable. But that said, I love big American movies?they?re my foundation, what I grew up on?and I still want to do them.?
Getting to work after Mini-Cooper-Gate: ?I didn?t make a movie for a really long time because I didn?t get offered anything that I liked. I didn?t work for two years.?

I half-believe her. I believe that she wasn?t offered many good scripts and that?s partly why she wasn?t working following her affair with Rupert Sanders. But I also believe that Hollywood wasn?t sure what to do with her following the affair, and some people (like, say, Ben Affleck) didn?t want to work with an actress who was considered ?radioactive? in the tabloids. As for Kristen ?coaching? Binoche? I?m sure that was super-special. Binoche could eat K-Stew for breakfast.
Kristen also talks about how she wants ?to start directing? in the WSJ piece, which is good timing because she directed the music video for Sage + the Saints? ?Take Me to the South?. The lead singer looks so much like Kristen. This video has too many jumpy edits.

Gwyneth Paltrow made an appearance at this year?s Code Conference, which is basically what you think it is. Lots of tech people, lots of geeks. I guess Gwyneth made an appearance on behalf of Goop.com and her efforts to launch the site as a major international brand. Perhaps she could start by paying a little bit more for servers that don?t crash whenever she posts ?Conscious Uncoupling? statements. I?m no techie, but even I know that one. Anyway, she gave a speech about the future of the internet, trolls and how she feels like she?s in a bloody war. Because she gets made fun of for being pretentious. Gwyneth the soldier!
Gwyneth Paltrow, the actress and founder of online lifestyle brand Goop, thinks that nasty, anonymous online commenters should take a look at themselves first before they post.
?The Internet is an amazing opportunity, socially. We have this opportunity to mature and learn, which is the essence of being on earth ? to being the closest person we can be to our actual, real, truest self,? she said ahead of her surprise appearance at the Code Conference today. ?But the Internet also allows us the opportunity to project outward our hatred, our jealousy. It?s culturally acceptable to be an anonymous commenter. It?s culturally acceptable to say, ?I?m just going to take all of my internal pain and externalize it anonymously.??
?It?s taken me a long time to get to the point where I can see these things and not take it as a personal affront and a hurt. I see myself as a chalkboard or a whiteboard or a screen, and someone is just putting up their own projection on it,? she said. ?It has nothing to do with me. They have an internal object, and they?re putting it on me. I kind of look at it as, ?Wow this is an interesting social experiment.? You?re talking about a blind stranger having feelings about you. It can only be projection.?
?Our culture is trying to wrestle with the idea that everybody has a voice, and how it?s unimportant and really important at the same time,? said Paltrow. ?We?re in this very adolescent phase. It?s dangerous, [because] we lack the capacity to say, ?Why does this matter to me, and who am I in this?? ?Why am I having opinions about Angelina Jolie?s operation?? ?What is unhealed in me?? ?Why am I using the Internet to do this???
?You come across [online comments] about yourself and about your friends, and it?s a very dehumanizing thing. It?s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it,? she said. ?My hope is, as we get out of it, we?ll reach the next level of conscience.?
This year may be a tipping point for Internet trolls, she hopes: ?It?s almost like we?re being given this test: Can you regulate yourself? Can you grow from this? Can you learn? You can make it as bloody as you want to, but is that the point??

She goes on and on about how Goop is profitable and how she has ?big goals? for Goop and she?s finding the ?self-confidence? to see her plans through. She also says that she has never taken any venture capital for Goop and she?s produced it through her ?blood, sweat and tears.? Gurl, you do one post a week and take August off!
So, what are your thoughts on Gwyneth comparing internet trolling to actual warfare? I mean? I don?t want to claim that trolls are all harmless. There are ?trolls? who venture into some truly terrifying territories, issuing threats of physical bodily harm and dropping casual hate speech on a daily basis. Real people get bullied, harassed, threatened and stalked online and that?s a real problem. But my problem is that Gwyneth conflates that real concern with ?people found out about my affair with ~~~ because someone on my team is leaking.? She conflates it with ?people think I?m a pretentious a?hole because they read my words in context in an interview.? That?s not warfare. That?s just Gwyneth being pissed off that some people criticize her (for valid reasons).

Over the weekend, we talked about Amber Heard’s new W magazine cover. The cover described Amber as a “triple threat,” and she talked about how she can “go trailer park really fast.” I still haven’t figured out what Amber is promoting with this shoot. W reveals the rest of the feature with a fresh subscribers’ cover. Amber talks about all sorts of stuff in this interview. She admits that she’s playing a punk rock singer in that student film with Christopher Walken, but she can’t sing. Amber introduces us to her horse. She talks about wanting to rage against stereotypes in Hollywood. Amber wants to play someone ugly, and it’s not her fault that she’s so gorgeous. We’ve heard this before from the Jessicas (Biel and Alba). The most interesting moment (to me) is when Amber claims to plant false gossip about herself with her “friends.” She enjoys seeing who leaks what information to the tabloids. Hmm:
Amber’s horse is named ‘Arrow’: “Don?t you think she looks like me? So like me. She?ll love you forever if you give her a treat. Just standing here makes my blood pressure go down. When I?m in L.A., I come ride her five times a week. No matter how crazy things get, Arrow will immediately get me back to normal.”
She hates being typecast as a hottie: “It’s very hard to find opportunities like that as a young romantic lead. As a woman, I usually have two options: Sex Object or the Best Friend Who Isn?t Sexy. It?s not creatively fulfilling to just be sexy. I did nothing to look the way I look. The genetic cards that anyone is dealt are not in their control, so to take pride in my looks would be a mistake. And besides,” she continues, pointing to the horse, “in L.A. there?s always someone more beautiful!”
She wants to be unattractive: “I remember getting a small part in the movie Zombieland. I said to the director, ?Do I get to play a true zombie or am I a cleavage zombie?? I had this fear that he was going to want me to be a zombie in my underwear! He said, ?No–take it as far as you want.? I said, ?Get the vomit packs ready! I?m going to be ugly and gross!’”
Evading the paparazzi: Her history with the press has taught Heard to be cautious and self-protective. She switches rental cars every week so that the paparazzi can?t easily spot her. To suss out press leaks, she regularly slips different bits of false information to her friends. When one of her fake items appears in the tabloids, Heard knows whom she can?t trust. “I do miss driving my Mustang. I built it from scratch, and I love that car. But the photographers all know the Mustang, and I hate being hassled. So it’s stuck in the garage.”
She sings in her movie with Christopher Walken: “I thought I was tone-deaf. And in truth, I have no natural gift or knack for singing. Generally, when a person has no talent for something, they don?t pursue it. So I?m either brave or stupid. The girl I?m playing is in a punk band, and she?s a little weird. Not sexy-weird but plain weird-weird. Which is thrilling to me. I like weird. I might be blonde and wear lipstick, but I?m so happy to be strange.”

I’m pretty hung up on Amber’s admission that she leaks false information to her buddies. Now I’m going back to see whether she may have made up the pregnancy rumors, the island wedding ceremony, or the $17 English manor. I know Amber didn’t make up the part about wanting to be Angelina Jolie, but maybe Amber wants us to think she made it up.
Oh hey. Someone is still considering hiring Johnny Depp for a major studio movie. The scarfmonster is currently in talks to play Harry Houdini for Lionsgate’s The Secret Life of Houdini. The magician will be portrayed as “America’s first superhero.” The screenplay rewrites Houdini’s character as not only an escape artist but as a master of the occult. As long as he’s wearing a lot of makeup, Johnny will take this role if they pay him enough. Daddy’s got some chick rings to pay for.

Hayden Panettiere has announced her pregnancy, with her fiance of one year, boxing great Wladimir Klitschko. Just like Rachel Bilson, she gave the exclusive news to US Magazine. This makes me realize that when US first announced Hayden’s engagement, in March of last year and seven months before Hayden was “officially” engaged, that they probably heard it straight from her. So is Hayden going to adopt a similar strategy here, is she going to wait for the official pregnancy announcement? Here’s the news from US:
“Hayden is totally pregnant!” the insider tells Us of the Nashville star, 24, who has been engaged to Klitschko, 38, for a year.
On and off since meeting at a book party in 2009, the Heroes alum and her 6-foot-6 boxer beau dated for two years before splitting in 2011. By the spring of 2013, however, they were back together and ready to spend the rest of their lives with each other.
US also reminds us of Hayden’s May, 2013 Glamour cover interview, where she gushed about kids and said that she was ready for them. She said “I feel like I was born to be a mother. Sometimes people speak about [having kids] like, ‘Your life ends?you?re never going to be able to do anything again!’ And I?m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ Motherhood is the most beautiful, exciting thing, and there?s nothing that I feel like I can?t accomplish while having children in my life. I would sacrifice having more years of being wherever I want whenever I want for years with my kids.” It’s all well and good to say those things before you’ve actually had kids. Having them is an entirely different experience, although I’m sure Hayden’s experience will definitely be tempered by her wealth.
Anyway, congratulations to Hayden and Wladimir! I wonder if they’re planning to marry before or after the baby comes. They’ve said that their wedding is on hold due to the conflict in Wladimir’s native Ukraine, where many of his relatives still live. Oh and Hayden joked on Ellen that if she had kids with Wladimir, that they’d be normal sized. We’ll see. I bet they’ll be towering over her as preteens.

For months, Pamela Anderson has been going without her weave/extensions. Last October, she chopped off her hair into a shaggy pixie and she maintained it really well. I usually don?t like pixie cuts, but short hair really suited her. But I guess Pamela was totally over it! These are some new pics of Pam at last night?s World Music Awards held in Monte Carlo. This weave? gurl! NO. STAHP.
Previously, Pam had said that her old rock ?n? roll weave was bad for her, saying:
?The rock-star thing became very destructive, like, wow. I didn?t know what I was doing. I just kind of became that thing. The hair, that rock-star kind of lifestyle, just living a dream. It kind of took over. It started out very innocent and then I turned into a cartoon character. And I started to feel like a cartoon character.?

The thing is? I kind of get it. Even though the pixie cut suited her remarkably well, it?s tough to adjust especially when you?ve had long hair for years. But the answer is NOT getting this budget, ganky weave. Kim Zolciak wouldn?t even touch this weave and Zolciak?s hair looks like it came from a Barbie doll. So? if Pam wants long hair again, go ahead. But just get a better weave!

I?ve never realized this before, but holy mother, Charlize really does look like Madonna. It?s dependent on the styling of course, but if you threw a pair of lace gloves and a bustier on her, this would be Like a Virgin-era Madonna. Bless. Anyway, Charlize covers the new issue of Esquire and bad news, the photoshoot is by Terry Richardson. You probably figured that out already because the background is ?p0rn-shoot white wall? and Terry handpicked the most cartoonish photos to use for the editorial. First Sean Penn and now Uncle Terry? Charlize, you need to spend time with better dudes.
As for the Esquire interview, I only got about halfway through before I had to stop. It?s not that Charlize is uninteresting ? she?s always a pretty good interview ? it?s just that Esquire consistently hires some of the worst celebrity profilers working in magazine journalism. The piece is written to death and I?m sure all of the interesting stuff is buried in the last few paragraphs. Her life isn?t aspirational: ?I?m sure some people would be like, ?I would never want to have that life.? Oh, I?m sure there?s a lot of aspects to my life that a lot of people wouldn?t want. But I?m just saying, a life is good if it?s the life that you want.?
Dating Sean Penn: ?I wasn?t in any place that I even wanted something like [a relationship]. I was f–king lucky to be born into that. Self-worth. Being a young girl and not putting your worth into your beauty. That was not something that I was raised with. So when I left home and everybody was like, ?Oh, you?re pretty,? I was like, I don?t even know what that concept means.?

The bulk of the conversation, oddly enough, was about Charlize?s turn as Libby Day in the adaptation of Gillian Flynn?s Dark Places, which comes out later this year. I mean, why not talk about A Million Ways, right? That?s the film coming out immediately. But all of that talk was just an excuse for the Esquire writer to ask her a million questions about her father?s death by her mom?s hand and to her credit, Charlize doesn?t punch the writer. She just answers sort of matter-of-factly without saying anything new. Enough already!

This is for all of you looking forward to the World Cup in just two weeks (it?s two weeks away, right?). Various international editions of Vogue have been pairing their country?s leading football players with models (Ronaldo with girlfriend Irina Shayk covering Vogue Spain, perchance?), and Brazil decided to do the same. Brazil is hosting the 2014 World Cup, so that makes this Vogue cover extra special ? Gisele Bundchen and Neymar (Neymar da Silva Santos Jnior), two of the most famous Brazilians in the world. Neymar plays for FC Barcelona, but he will be playing for his home country at the World Cup. I?m including additional shots from the magazine, as well as unofficial snaps from Instagram.
So, what are the thoughts on the photos? Gisele isn?t annoying me at all here. She looks cute with Neymar, who is? adorable. I don?t really follow football at all (or as I call it, soccer), so the athletic world where men like Neymar are considered gods? well, I barely pay attention. He’s cute though. He’s got a great SexyFace. Good luck to him and good luck to Brazil? I?m worried that the World Cup is going to be a clusterwhoops of demonstrations, riots and tourism hell.
In other Gisele news, she?s taking over from Brad Pitt to become the new face of Chanel No. 5. Remember the ads? Of course you do. I?m glad Chanel?s experimental ?let?s pay Brad Pitt to talk about space and the wonderment of time? campaign is done. Back to something tried and true: a pretty model hawking perfume. Apparently, Chanel re-hired Baz Luhrmann to direct Gisele?s commercials.
