Paris Hilton is on the promo circuit for, I guess, her new single. I think Paris just likes to be on TV talking to people who flatter her. And that?s exactly what she got when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live. While still desperately trying to keep her face turned left ? even though Andy was on her right Andy got Paris to play Plead the Fifth with three questions about three of her famous friends: Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus. Paris chose not to pass on any of the questions, but she didn?t answer any of them directly either. The only clear answer we got was that Paris does not care for Lindsay Lohan:

She?s beyond. Lame and embarrassing
You and Ki Kardashian have had a long history together but Kim mentioned to Harpers Bazaar in 2011 that you two weren?t speaking. What was the cause of that rift and was it really because you insulted her butt on a radio show?
I think it was the media just making something up, but I just did a video called My Best Friend?s A** and had the most infamous a** in the world in the video. And her a** is hot. I love it
Paris, are the rumors true that you once made out with Miley Cyrus in a Miami nightclub?

Seriously, Paris Hilton doesn?t get how Questions and Answers works. You don?t just get to say anything after you?ve been asked a question they have to match. There is evidence that once upon a time Lindsay and Paris circled each other?s orbit. But Paris has done her very best to tamp out any memory of their relationship ever since. Whatever happened left an indelible mark but I?m not going to pretend to care about their rift. They both behaved terribly in the press and are a little too hellbent on making sure we know they hate each other. Fact accepted, let?s move on.
As for this new Kim K narrative, though ? really? People love a good makeup story, why is Paris trying to rewrite history that they didn?t try to sabotage each other for years? I was genuinely happy to see they?d reconnected. Pretending like nothing had happened doesn?t make it a better story. Paris? desire to cover up any past grievances must have to do with how the scales of fame have tipped in Kim?s favor.
As for Miley: two uninvolved attention seekers make out publicly in a popular nightclub? Color me shocked.

As we?ve been discussing, Britney Spears and her conservatorship are struggling these days. Britney has seemingly been in a difficult state for months now, as doctors have been trying out new medications. Adding to those difficulties was the fact that Jamie Spears has had significant health issues the past six months, and he wasn?t capable of maintaining his iron grip on Britney?s money, career and personal life with the same consistency as before. Britney apparently told the court that Jamie put her into the mental health facility without her consent, and that she?d like much more freedom in her life. The judge ordered a series of evaluations Lynne Spears seems to want a say in Brit?s conservatorship, and Britney asked for specific things to change in her conservatorship too. All of which means that the past decade of Britney?s conservatorship is under a microscope:
The people responsible for controlling Britney Spears? life are now in the crosshairs of court investigators as the judge in her conservatorship case has ordered a thorough investigation of all the players who take part in planning her personal life, financial affairs and medical treatment. According to documents obtained by The Blast, the judge in Britney?s conservatorship has ordered a probate court investigator to take a hard look at the singer?s case, and wants a court investigator?s report filed before Britney?s next hearing in September.
The move was quietly made days after Britney was ordered to undergo an expert evaluation to determine whether the restraints in her conservatorship should be loosened or modified. The job of a probate court investigator is to conduct extensive interviews with all the people involved in a conservatorship case, including guardians, conservators, doctors and even law enforcement officials who have had contact with the subject of the conservatorship. The investigator will also be reviewing medical and financial records, including custody agreements and even contractual obligations ? such as her Las Vegas residency.
It has long been debated whether Britney?s team, including her father Jamie Spears, were pushing Britney beyond her limits while signing her up for another round of performances in Sin City. Her manager has maintained that Britney was the one who wanted to keep working, but questions have been raised about her team?s handling of Britney?s fragile mental state while negotiating lucrative business deals.

Mike Redmond at Pajiba (formerly at The Superficial) pointed out something I had forgotten, which is that Jamie got a percentage of Britney?s Las Vegas deal(s) and he was making seven-figures from throwing Britney on stage on a regular basis. Personally, I don?t believe that the Las Vegas residency contributed to Britney?s ?fragile mental state? I agreed with Britney fans at the time that the schedule, the workouts, the dancing, it all helped her or, at the very least, she enjoyed it. The issue for me isn?t ?should Britney work,? it?s ?is she competent enough to make basic decisions about her life?? Why debate whether or not she wants to work when the real debate is whether she?s capable of driving a car, or capable of figuring out if she wants to go to Starbucks, or capable of deciding who to date without her father arranging it? And if the questions of bare-bones competency go the way I think they will, I still have to wonder WTF Jamie Spears was thinking with the entire Jason Trawick debacle. Britney and Jason were ?engaged? and Jamie was putting Jason on Britney?s co-conservator at the same time. That always disturbed the fk out of me.

I really believe that among the unknowns cast at the beginning of Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams will be the first to break free from her character, career wise. Not that I don?t think the others aren?t talented, but Maisie has a depth to her that I don?t see often in former child actors. It turns out her maturity extends past just her acting ability. Maisie recently appeared on the Happy Place podcast in which she discussed mental health. Specifically, Maisie addressed feeling the need to behave perfectly because she was a child actor and yet, on the inside, she was tearing herself apart.
Maisie Williams is getting candid about her mental health.
During a recent interview on the Happy Place podcast with Fearne Cotton, the 22-year-old Game of Thrones actress shared that she felt pressure to act ?perfect? as a young celebrity.
?I was so set on trying to look like I was really grown up and that I wasn?t going to ruin my life and that I was going to be a good actor who did all the right things,? Williams said. ?It did take a lot of trying to be squeaky clean ? I was a real teacher?s pet, but on the fame spectrum and not school.?
The star then said that she went through ?revelations? in the last year and realized she wasn?t ?happy doing this and pretending everything was fine.?
?That wasn?t a public thing but after going through that, now I?ve sort of tried to be a lot more genuine and it just becomes a lot more relaxing after that I think,? she explained. ?You just drop it all and that?s when you can just really have fun.?
Though she says she?s grown a lot in the last year, Williams admits she still has a ?journey? ahead.
?I still lie in bed at like eleven o?clock at night telling myself all the things I hate about myself,? she shared. ?There?s still a journey, I think. But at least dropping the act and just being who you truly are, I think that?s definitely a first step.?
?I went through a huge period of my life where I?d tell myself every day that I hated myself,? the actress revealed. ?It got to the point where I?d be in a conversation with my friends, and my mind would be like running and running and running and thinking about all the stupid things I said in my life and all of people who looked at me a certain way and it would just race and race and race.?
Williams then shared that she started to look ?within? herself to figure out why she was having those negative thoughts.
?As soon as you start digging, you start asking yourself bigger questions than ?Why do you hate yourself?? but it?s more like ?Why do you make yourself feel this way?? I think the answers to all of these questions really are within you,? she explained.

I?m going through a particularly stressful combination of situations at present. So stressful, it?s taken a physical toll. After decades of being told I was too distant and emotionless, I vocalized my stress in hopes that it would alleviate some of it. Almost as soon as I did, people in my periphery tried to get me to stop. They used my kids, my husband and anything else they knew was a hot button for me to get me to shut it back down. So I kind of identify with Maisie?s feelings about appearing one way and how that was, in some ways, thrust upon me. I certainly identify with thinking about all the stupid things I?ve ever done and focusing on my flaws, but it breaks my heart to hear that Maisie?s hating herself. She had so much pressure, both internal and external, so early in life. It sounds as though she?s recognized this and is addressing it. If she has that figured out in her early 20s, then I?m not worried how she will turn out. It sounds like she?ll come out on top.

The first few premiere nights for the Cannes Film Festival have been very muted, right? When last year?s Cannes was quiet too, I remember someone calling it the ?Harvey Weinstein effect? or something like that basically, now that Weinstein had been outed, shady producers weren?t using Cannes as a hunting ground for beautiful women so much. Plus, it just feels like fewer women are going to Cannes just to be seen. Maybe the Friday and Saturday premieres will be more glamorous.
Anyway, one of the big ?gets? for last night?s premiere screening of Les Miserables was Amber Heard. I?m assuming she came out as part of some beauty or jewelry contract. It wasn?t a fashion contract, I know that. She wore this Claes Iversen gown which? is not good. THAT BELT. It looks like one of those belts weightlifters use for their backs, right? It?s too wide, too mismatched, too brown-flesh colored, too leather. I also think she should embrace color she wears a lot of black and cream and pale gold. Her jewelry is Chopard.
Elle Fanning is a jury member and she?s already been delivering some LEWKS. This Valentino gown looks like it came straight from the runway and that Elle styled it exactly the way Valentino wanted her to. Very fairy-princess, very Queen of the Woodland Nymphs.
Julianne Moore in Louis Vuitton the dress isn?t leather, just the caplet is leather. I want to see the dress! But yeah, this is not Julianne?s best.
