Her new movie ?The Giver? comes out on Friday, August 15th, and Katie Holmes was busy on the promotional trail this morning (August 6).
The ?Mad Money? actress donned a printed top with jeans and black slide-on shoes as she arrived at the SiriusXM Radio studios in New York City, smiling for fans as she scurried inside.
Earlier in the day, Katie paid a visit to Matt Lauer and talked about her crazy life of career and motherhood on the ?Today? show.
Holmes explained, ?You know what? I never really look back. I just approach life (taking) it one day at a time. I?m really excited about where I am right now. I've had some really wonderful creative experiences. I'm just really grateful.?
Furthermore, Katie noted that she?s making every effort to give her daughter Suri a normal childhood. ?Of course you try your best. I try very hard because I'm very grateful for my upbringing, my parents, my siblings. I try to do what they did for me for my little one."
?The most important thing for me is letting her know how proud I am and her accomplishments mean everything. Whatever I do is whatever. It's really just about her. That's what I think is most important."

At this point in her career there?s nothing she can?t do, and Tyra Banks was more than happy to field a few questions on ?Watch What Happens Live? on Tuesday (August 5).
The 40-year-old ?America?s Next Top Model? hottie discussed the possibility of re-teaming with Lindsay Lohan for a ?Life-Size? sequel.
Tyra noted, "So, Life-Size was a movie I did with Lindsay many years ago, when she was 11 years old. We're doing Life-Size 2. This time I'm executive producing it and we're in the process of writing it."
"Right now, we haven't spoken to Lindsay. But you never know! She'd be like, 'Hey Eve doll, you used to be my Barbie and I'm over you!' She's a woman now!"
As for the possibility of participating in a Victoria?s Secret reunion with Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen, Banks shared, "I don't know, I don't know if I would. Whenever I see them, I feel like we have a connection. We're like the OG original Angels. That was invented on us."
Furthermore, "The president of Victoria's Secret promised me a lifetime supply of Victoria's Secret products, even after I left the company. But, once I left, he only let me have it for a year. So I have a bone to pick."

Taking a moment to just chill out, Miley Cyrus exited her hotel in New York City with her canine companion Emu on Tuesday afternoon (August 5).
The ?Wrecking Ball? songstress showed off her midriff in a crop top with denim shorts as she snapped a few photos with fans and scurried off.
And apparently Miley?s ?Bangerz Tour Special? for NBC ruffled more than a few feathers- the FCC is now investigating a truckload of complaints by angry parents.
Apparently the objectionable portions of the show included ?stripper costumes,? ?dancing with half naked men and women? and ?Miley grinding against a costumed Abe Lincoln.?

Kristen Dunst covers the new issue of Red and I?m sure her interview is going to make Garrett Hedlund squirm a little bit. Garrett and Kiki have been together about two years. By most accounts, they are solid. There were some reports of some relationship trouble last year, but they?re still together and it seems like Garrett is very happy with her. I tend to think Garrett?s star is on the rise and it will continue to be on the rise in the years to come. Meanwhile, Kiki?s star is in decline, partly by choice (she doesn?t seem to want to work as much) and partly by Hollywood not caring that much about her. It?s almost hard to believe she?s only 32 ? she did so much in her teens and 20s. Anyway, Kiki told Red that she?s all about babies these days. Is she trying to publicly pressure Garrett into getting her pregnant?
Kirsten Dunst has babies on the brain.
“I’m in baby mode because two of my really good friends are pregnant right now,” she tells Red in its September issue, on sale Aug. 7. “One of them is pretty chilled and the other’s like, ‘I can’t wait to have a glass of wine!’ I love it though. We’ve already picked her girl’s name, it’s done! I think 33 is a good age to have your first baby.”
Dunst, 32, is spending the summer in London with actor boyfriend Garrett Hedlund, but she doesn’t admit to having any plans for marriage or children at the moment.
“You don’t know what’s going to happen in the next 10 years. But I get asked that question a lot because I’m in my thirties and it’s like: time to get married and have babies, right? That’s the vibe. Well, I already have a mother to ask those questions, so nobody else needs to!”
For now, Dunst says she’s quite fond of just kicking back.
“I’m not as worried as I used to be. When I was younger, if I wasn’t working, I would get anxiety. I’d feel like I should be doing something. But now, I’m so good at chilling out. In my thirties I’ve become really good friends with relaxing,” she says.
“I have a girlfriend who lives in London ? one of the ones who’s pregnant ? and we sit in bed all day, watching movies and ordering food in. Not everyone can do that. Some people are like, ‘I have to get outside, I have to do something.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m actually fine not doing anything.’ I lost that part of myself. I’m sure one day, if I have kids, the anxiety of life will come back again, because you’re worried about somebody else.”

I kind of like her for talking about this openly rather than ?surprising? Garrett by getting pregnant out of the blue. You can see her working through it in the public sphere. Garrett is a farm boy and by all accounts, he?s pretty low-key and he seems like a good guy. Maybe they should have a baby. And we can see if Kirsten practices what she preaches and begins to conform to those 1950s gender stereotypes that she believes ?work? for all people.

Olivia Wilde covers the September issue of Glamour. She’s not promoting any film roles although she is currently filming an untitled HBO project. Most outlets are making a huge deal about how Livvy breastfeeds in this editorial. It IS a big deal and very significant. I shudder at how some “dude” blogs are sexualizing the matter. Olivia tweeted this photo from the shoot, which shows her feeding little Otis Alexander with the following caption: “Otis ordered milkshakes. Luckily I had some on me. Then he peed on my dress. Good kid. #boobfood #whennaturecalls.” The photo is absolutely gorgeous and groundbreaking. Olivia’s interview is all about her new role as mother. She also talks about whether she’ll ever marry Jason Sudeikis. Hint: She’s not in a hurry.
Why she breastfed in this shoot: “You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed. [But] I mean, I certainly don?t really look like that when I?m [typically] breastfeeding. And there?s usually a diaper involved. Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn?t complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing. I don?t know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we?ve been discussing — that we know we can be.”
Does she worry about being a working mother? “No, because of the example of my mom. My mom is such a badass working mother. That inspired me when I was pregnant. I wasn?t going to sacrifice myself because I was becoming a mother.”
Will she and Jason marry? “We?re engaged, but no specific [wedding] plans yet — we just have to find the time to put it together,? she says. ?In many ways, a child is more of a commitment. We are fully committed and really happy as a family. There?s no definition of the ‘normal family’ anymore. Kids today are growing up with so many different definitions of family. I guess what I?m saying is that I don?t feel any pressure to do it. But I think it will be really fun.”

I know Olivia grates on a lot of you. She’s not a standout actress, but there’s something luminous about her energy. Livvy also never fails to speak her mind, and she usually keeps her words classy. Well, except for the time a GQ journo said she was too hot to be literate. That dude deserved the profanity.
I’m glad Olivia decided to breastfeed as part of a fashion shoot in a major magazine. Not every woman chooses to breastfeed (for various, personal reasons), but the practice should be supported and accepted in society. Nursing a child in public shouldn’t be taboo. Olivia is appealing to all the mothers out there in the name of acceptance. This is also a career move, but I don’t mind. It feels like a natural progression for Olivia.

Wow, Kaley Cuoco?s haircut doesn?t look bad here at all. It actually looks cute on the September cover of Women?s Health. Too bad Kaley doesn?t know how to style her new hair for everyday wear. Anyway, Kaley covers this issue because (I?m assuming) she?s promoting the new season of The Big Bang Theory, which is going to net her $90 million over the next three years. Shill, Kaley! Shill for that money. Hell, if they were paying $90K, I would shill that crap all over town. Some highlights from Kaley?s interview:
Her new hair: “I was swishing my hair to the left so much, I was like, ‘Do I look like Justin Bieber?!’ [But] I feel liberated. It’s like I needed to find myself again.”
The new season of Big Bang: “I have no idea what they are doing with Big Bang this season. We are going into season 8 which is amazing. If you told me that 8 years ago I would be like, ‘Ha ha, OK’….I hope next season we engage wedding stuff, I would love that. If I had to guess Leonard is more of a planner than Penny, which is funny. I feel so lucky we are going to be on much longer.”
She?s interested in any kind of project, TV or film: “I will take any role anyone will hire me on. I am doing a tiny movie in July before I go back to work which is much darker for me. I play a drug addict and I am actually kind of excited about it, I’ve never been able to do anything like that. I think people probably didn’t think that I could. So I am excited to do that side of things.”
She loves the idea of being typecast: “I was telling someone last night, people always say, ?Oh my god, you’re going to be typecast’ and if I really was typecast as Penny or the girl next store it would be the greatest thing in the world, then I have a job forever playing that. That is kind of how I look at it, if this is what I do forever fine, but I’ll try and do as many things as possible and experience the whole world of acting, as silly as that sounds, but I love all aspects of it but comedy is definitely number one.”
Being married: “The best part [of marriage] is that you always have your buddy with you. He is always there; my friend is always with me. I have someone to eat with, to talk to, to have a drink with, to cry with to be anything I need to be, he will always going to be there and the same for him.”
She has changed her name to Cuoco-Sweeting: “I am lucky because it happens to be a great last name. I love being married, we are so happy. It was the greatest day of my life, it happened fast but it was perfect for us and we could not be happier. I say the word husband all the time when it is unnecessary…I love it I feel totally at home we are so happy.”
She wants to get pregnant: “I can’t wait, he can’t wait. I feel like I’m meant to be a mom.”

There?s a strong dose of Jennifer Aniston here (and there are some very logical parallels to be drawn), but I also think she?s making an effort to learn from some of Aniston?s TV Girl mistakes. Aniston couldn?t wait to use Friends as a launching pad to film stardom, so much so that Aniston initially fought to break out of the ?Rachel Green? typecasting. Kaley wants to assure everyone that she?s fine with being typecast. She?s happy playing the bubbly blonde in comedies. Maybe Kaley is just paying lip-service to that, but I think she?s trying to be a bit more savvy about her career. Kaley isn?t trying to win an Oscar, you know? It?s all about setting reasonable goals. Some people really would rather have $90 million in the bank rather than have to ugly it up for an Oscar.
Oh, and if she gets pregnant quickly? well, that will be interesting. She just negotiated a huge contract and I really hope her lawyers included lots of provisions for what the show will do if and when she gets knocked up. Plus, if she does have a baby? well, she?ll only be more famous then. That?s how it works these days.

I already covered Katy Perry’s Rolling Stone cover story where she denied a role in cultural appropriation by asking, “Can’t you appreciate a culture?” That was the highlight of the interview, but Rolling Stone has released some new “outtake” quotes that didn’t make their print edition. Katy already shaded ex-hubby Russell Brand in the print interview. She disses more in these quotes. The weird thing is that Katy refuses to talk about her failed romance with John Mayer. Did Katy and John came to an agreement during their relationship? Neither one of them has spoken about the other. I guess this means John won’t be smearing Katy in his Broadway musical.
Katy’s focus in these interview outtakes is to criticize fame. In 2012, Katy told Teen Vogue that fame is “a disgusting by-product of what I do.” She repeats herself here and tosses in shade against reality stars. Maybe? I think that’s what she’s talking about. Katy often speaks in ice cream riddles that make no sense. The bottom line? Katy is all about her music:
She won’t talk about John Mayer: “I don’t want to be rude to him and or what that was, because it always comes to bite me in the ass and I don’t want to do that anymore.”
She will talk about her divorce from Rusty: “Now I know — first and foremost, self-love, and then give love away. Back then it was mostly just me giving love away with no self-love. I went through my ‘return of Saturn,’ is what they call it. It’s this kind of astrological thing they talk about, when the planet Saturn comes to teach you lessons, and either you reject them or accept them. And I accepted those lessons that I needed to learn. And if you reject them, it’s your midlife crisis that comes around at 50.”
On her super-made-up signature look: “Just someone decided to pay for hair and makeup. That’s all. I was like, ?This is cool. My eyes look even more anime now.”
On dating non-famous dudes: “I’ve done that before. It’s not that they have to be famous, although there’s a level of understanding when they’re in the same business, you know? They understand what it means when you’re tired from a show or the tour’s exhausting you or if an interview went wrong ? they know all the ins and outs, so you can just walk in to the house with a certain face and they understand, you know? Rather than, like, having to explain everything and that takes two, three hours.”
She dislikes fame: “I never wanted to be famous. That’s a byproduct of what I do. Fame is truly a byproduct of the dream that I had. People want to be recognized for their work, but nobody wants to be famous for nothing. Fame is, I think, disgusting. And it’s really hard to separate your public life from your personal life. Useless fame is disgusting. I think if you’ve got a talent or something to offer, a creative thing to offer to the world, then I think that’s beautiful. But that famous for nothing thing is kind of gross. It’s a bummer. And, you know, I only ever just wanted to make music and be on stage and play.”
She wants to be big at Madonna’s age: “Yeah, for sure. In a different way, maybe. I mean, she does what she does, great. I’m probably going to do it differently. Like, I want to have an acoustic record by then. But I can only be 29 now.”
She digs museums: “When we’re on the road, not only do we go to theme parks, we go to museums. Because the best thing now that I’ve realized is instead of trading my status for, like, bottles at clubs, I can trade my status for incredibly curated tours at museums. Like, by the people that installed the whole thing. eAnd it makes for really good Instagram pictures, too. Kids, museums have lots of artifacts in them that look funny, so go to them and get your best Instagram update.”
What if her next record flops? “I’m not gonna give any energy to those words! But listen, if it’s a true expression of myself, then it will be necessary for me to put it out there. At least I’m staying true to myself and my music.”

Katy also discussed her passion for transcendental meditation. That’s the one thing she gained from her marriage to Rusty Brand. She’s covered the same topic in several interviews, and I’m still not convinced that Katy knows what she’s talking about.
I shake my head at Katy’s claims of disliking fame so much. She’s the one who sang “I Kissed a Girl” as her breakout tune. There’s no way that move wasn’t about becoming famous really fast. I will admit that Katy fills a niche. She makes music for tweens and does it well, but girlfriend wasn’t all about the music from the very beginning. It’s also bizarre that Katy writes off non-famous guys because it would take a few hours to acclimate them. Huh.
