Tyra Banks is the guest host on Today with Jenna and Friends this week. So far, she?s taken Jenna Hager Bush wig shopping, shared her FAFO style of parenting, confessed to getting her Victoria?s Secret Angel Card taken away, and given her mother a really sweet tribute that brought her to tears. One topic that they covered was so controversial that even Jenna couldn?t believe it. Tyra admitted that not only does she eat food in bed, but she?s also big on eating any days-old crumbs that she finds, whether it?s in her bed or on the floor.
Tyra Banks isnt afraid to reveal her bedroom antics. While guest hosting the Today with Jenna and Friends broadcast on July 28, the model and Americas Next Top Model creator said she has no problem with eating in bed ? and enjoying the leftovers days later. Banks, 51, confessed to eating crumbs from days-old popcorn while telling Jenna Bush Hager about her pastime of watching TV in bed with her mom.
We do ice cream in bed; we do popcorn in bed. The great thing is a couple days later Banks said as Bush Hager interrupted: You do not!
A little bit, Banks replied as she mimed picking up bits of popcorn and eating them. Jenna, I clean crumbs by eating them. Because if you put them in the trash, youre going to get roaches or something. So you just clean it up with your finger or you just eat it.
Im not into eating in bed because I dont like crumbs, Bush Hager asserted.
Its safe if its on your ground. Its your feet, Banks argued. I have a no-shoe rule in my home. So that I can eat off my floor. She also delved into how long bits of food might be left before she gets around to eating them: A few days if its not super perishable. Like a popcorn? Thats, like, astronaut food. It lasts forever.
Banks then admitted that she is a do as I say, not as I do kind of mom. I see my son do it, and Im like, Dont do it. And hes like, Mama, you do it.'
Banks shares a son, 9-year-old York Banks Asla, with former partner Erik Asla, a photographer. As the show cut to a commercial break, the two continued debating just how hygienic Banks antics are.

Yeah, no. I am on Team Jenna with this one. This is gross, right? You sleep in your sheets! As for eating off of the floor, I can adhere to the 30-second rule, but beyond that?even if you take your shoes off, your feet are still dirty from being inside of that shoe. And don?t get me started on what your feet are naturally exposed to if you?re wearing sandals. On Tuesday, I went into several airplane/airport bathrooms while wearing flip flops and had to take a shower when I got home, even though it was midnight. You also cannot catch every crumb! We have a very strict rule in my house that you can only eat at the table. The coffee table is only allowed on special occasions and you can never take food into your bedroom. Ahh, am I being too prudish? Now I don?t know!

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Tyra Bank?s model utopian theme park, ModelLand, has delayed opening in Santa Monica, CA, indefinitely. ModelLand was billed to be a fantasy version of the modeling world brought to the masses in a Walt Disney sort of way. Banks hopes it will make people feel ?more beautiful and powerful than they ever believed possible.
Despite the delay, Tyra hasn?t slowed down from breaking other barriers. According to a press release, she will be the new host and executive producer of Dancing with the Stars. Banks is set to replace Tom Bergeron, the original host of the show, and his long-time co-host Erin Andrews. BBC and ABC productions stated that they are moving in a different direction as their official reason for the decision to let Andrews and Bergeron go.
Banks will not only be the new host, but an executive producer, according to a news release from ABC obtained by CNN.
Ive been a fan of DWTS since its beginning The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances its always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk, Banks said in the news release.
Tom has set a powerful stage, and Im excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.
Longtime host Tom Bergeron on Monday broke the news that he will not be returning to the dancing competition show after 15 years in his role.
Co-host Erin Andrews will also not be returning.
The decision comes as ABC and BBC Productions, which produce the series, say they are heading in a new creative direction.
Bergeron had been host of Dancing with the Stars since the show began in 2005. Andrews had hosted since 2014.

As a fan of the show since its inception, I think Banks has some big shoes to fill. However, I believe she is eager to take on the challenge and deliver. I am sure there will be a lot of pressure on her not only because she?ll be one of the executive producers of a very popular show with a loyal fan base, but because she will also be the first Black host of the show.
Perhaps it is just time for fresh ideas or perhaps producers wanted a woman of color at the helm. And that?s not to imply that Banks didnt earn the job. She created, produced, and hosted the highly successful America?s Next Top Model, which became a worldwide phenomenon. I hope that Banks will breathe new life into the show. With that being said, I am sure the new season of DWTS will be highly entertaining if nothing else.

Even though America?s Got Talent hasn?t aired the first episode of its 12th season (the season premiere is Tuesday, May 30), the NBC show is already making headlines – and it?s not because of an old man performing scream-o metal or anyone named Tape Face.
After taking over hosting duties of the popular summer series after Nick Cannon?s abrupt departure, Tyra Banks has already generated some controversy of her own. The 43-year-old model/actress is named in a lawsuit against Marathon Productions (the company responsible for producing AGT) filed by a contestant on the show, alleging that her daughter was ?traumatized? after being ?physically manipulated and verbally abused? by Tyra.
In the 18-page lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday, the plaintiff, simply referred to as Jane Doe, alleged that during the taping of one of the show?s audition episodes on March 19, her daughter, ?Mary,? was subject to treatment that left her ?deeply depressed.?
The suit alleges that during Jane?s performance of an original song with her husband, show producers told Mary ?to act embarrassed and annoyed by her parents? performance.? The song, which the couple wrote about motherhood and the birth of their daughter was a ?bond among the members of her family.? Jane alleged the song was ?especially favored? by Mary.
I?ve not heard the song, but I have a sneaking suspicion it probably wasn?t very good. And, with what happened next, I think I might be right. After the performance, Jane alleged that Tyra not only insinuated that the child was accidentally conceived, she also ?shook Mary?s shoulder, pulled Mary?s hair back and physically manipulated Mary.? The suit goes on to say that ?Mary did not stop Banks? conduct because Mary was fearful.? After the incident, Jane said that Mary was still experiencing PTSD-like symptoms when recalling the event, stating:
[She] would become extremely nervous and anxious whenever, among other triggering events, she hears any mentions of [the] song and [the] song itself, whenever she ruminates about the events during or

It?s been 17 years since Tyra Banks played a Barbie doll come to life in the Disney Channel movie Life-Size. The film, which co-starred Lindsay Lohan (in her adorable, Parent Trap-era incarnation) turned out to be a smash and a guilty pleasure for many (guilty). Rumors about a sequel have been swirling since the early 2010s, but now, it?s official, Life-Size 2 is coming your way, with Tyra Banks returning as its star.
During its upfront presentation in New York City on Wednesday, cable network Freeform (previously known as ABC Family) announced the sequel, which will premiere in December of 2018 during the network?s popular ?25 Days of Christmas? event – in between screenings of old Rankin-Bass animated specials, Toy Story and its sequels and, of course, Elf.
A Freeform press release says that the movie revolves around a ?grown up? Eve, adding that ?This time, she?s magically awoken to help a young woman learn to live and love again, and along the way, Eve herself will experience the ups and downs of real life in a fun, edgy, modern Christmas movie.? That sounds horrible on paper, but I have a sneaking suspicion I?m not going to be able to take my eyes off of it.
Tyra, who is about to take over hosting duties on America?s Got Talent, announced the project, which she is executive producing, on Twitter. On Wednesday, she tweeted, ?One word: LIFESIZE/Oops?/2 words/LIFESIZE 2.?

One of my guiltiest of pleasures, America?s Got Talent, just got a little bit guiltier thanks to its new host. Tyra Banks, who hosted (and judged) 22 cycles of America?s Next Top Model, has replaced Nick Cannon for the 12th season of the popular summertime series. AGT judges Heidi Klum, Mel B., Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell are all returning for the season, which is currently in production.
After a very public breakup with NBC, Nick Cannon abandoned his post as host of the talent show after eight seasons of introducing magicians, ventriloquists and all sorts of variety acts. The reason for Nick?s departure has stemmed from the network?s reaction to a racially-charged joke Nick made about the network on his Showtime special, Stand Up, Don?t Shoot. In a post on his Facebook page back in February Nick said “I now have to set out on a journey of freedom as an artist. So I wish ‘AGT’ and NBC the best in its upcoming season but I can not see myself returning.” More recently, Nick told Entertainment Tonight that the move was ?calculated,? adding,
I feel like change is growth. I wish everyone the best. I wish all the new people involved the best. I wish the brand to continue to flourish. I’ve got love for the network, I’ve got love for the production, and I feel like I’m growing as an artist, and as a human being, to bigger and better things.

The gig is really nothing new for Tyra. After ANTM, the 43-year-old multi-hyphenate (model/talk show hostess/actress/author) recently got back into reality television as an adviser to Arnold Schwarzenegger on the most recent season of Celebrity Apprentice. In a statement released on Sunday, Tyra expressed her enthusiasm for the new gig, stating:
Since I was a little girl, I?ve been obsessed with grandiose acts and performers who make the seemingly impossible possible. I love how ?AGT? brings that feeling into everyone?s home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true.

I don’t watch America’s Next Top Model for a reason. Well, there are a few reasons. The big one is that I like to remember Tyra Banks as an enigma. She was one of the fiercest 1990s supermodels and worked runways and editorials like crazy. Somewhere around 2005 (when her first talk show hit the airwaves), I started to realize that Tyra was a little nutty. So taking it back old school is how Tyra survives in my memory.
Well, Tyra has a new talk show coming out next year (god help us). She’s also promoting her new makeup line called TYRA Beauty, so she did an interview with Yahoo. The makeup actually sounds pretty cool because it’s mostly stick-based stuff. The eyeliner is called “Oops” because it includes liner on one end and makeup remover on the other. Handy. In this interview, Tyra put her stamp on the current trend of journos asking women about feminism. Compared to some of the other starlets, Tyra does okay with her answer:
She funded TYRA Beauty: “It was important for me to create a brand that wasn?t a licensing deal, but a true self-funded startup. Something that could be a legacy business, not something that would be hot for a moment and then go away. Everything is saturated today. But I?ve always been about zagging when everyone else is zigging. I hate me-too. So I became obsessed with innovation–with being unique, first, and different.”
No foundation/concealer yet: “On photo shoots, when I was a young model, they didn?t have my color. And I said, ?That?s not going to happen with my project.’” She says she won?t do foundation unless every woman–those with ebony and alabaster skin, and every color in between–can find what they?re looking for. (She notes that if future technology and budgets allow, she?ll make it happen.)
Is she a feminist? “I do consider myself a feminist, yeah. Totally. Even when I was a model with my bra and panties on for a Victoria?s Secret fashion show. Sure, I was stompin?, and I know guys were like, ‘Woo, look at Tyra.’ But I know that my body being thicker on that runway meant something. A lot of the things I did in my modeling career as a woman of color was part of that feminism–of expanding the definition of beauty and making women feel beautiful, no matter what color their skin is.”
She’s a businesswoman/feminist: “Right now, with women in power, and not apologizing for being strong or wanting to make money or to be on top, that?s my message–and that’s all feminism. I just feel like you should be able to have a fierce face at the same time.”

Was Tyra ever considered “thick”? Compared to the waiflike models like Kate Moss, sure, but Tyra fit right in with the 1990s Victoria’s Secret catalogue ladies. VS models are much thinner these days. Tyra was always one of the standouts during her VS tenure. Now I can’t recognize more than one or two of them by name.
Tyra’s take on feminism is fine. She’s not super serious about it, but Tyra is rarely serious about anything except the importance of “smiling with the eyes.” I kid. Tyra’s message is that you can be sexy and feminist at the same time, and that’s true.

At this point in her career there?s nothing she can?t do, and Tyra Banks was more than happy to field a few questions on ?Watch What Happens Live? on Tuesday (August 5).
The 40-year-old ?America?s Next Top Model? hottie discussed the possibility of re-teaming with Lindsay Lohan for a ?Life-Size? sequel.
Tyra noted, "So, Life-Size was a movie I did with Lindsay many years ago, when she was 11 years old. We're doing Life-Size 2. This time I'm executive producing it and we're in the process of writing it."
"Right now, we haven't spoken to Lindsay. But you never know! She'd be like, 'Hey Eve doll, you used to be my Barbie and I'm over you!' She's a woman now!"
As for the possibility of participating in a Victoria?s Secret reunion with Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen, Banks shared, "I don't know, I don't know if I would. Whenever I see them, I feel like we have a connection. We're like the OG original Angels. That was invented on us."
Furthermore, "The president of Victoria's Secret promised me a lifetime supply of Victoria's Secret products, even after I left the company. But, once I left, he only let me have it for a year. So I have a bone to pick."

We all like to imagine what things will be like in the future, and Tyra Banks is no different. The model penned a piece on what's to come in the world of fashion for the Wall Street Journal's Op-Ed page this week.
The "America's Next Top Model" host laid out some amusing thoughts on the direction fashion (and life) will take in the few next years and beyond.
Among the 40-year-old's predictions: hair extensions will be a thing of the past and "Plastic surgery will be as easy and quick as going to the drugstore for Tylenol. Emphasis will be on how unique and interesting one can look, as opposed to a cookie-cutter look. People will be vying for that cutting-edge, distinct look in the way that today celebs reach for baby names that defy convention."
Beyond the fashion world, Tyra predicts (among other things) robots becoming assistants and parents being able to pick out the features for their unborn children.
