Lenny Kravitz covers the Winter Issue of Esquire, ahead of the release of his first album in five years. Lenny is forever the coolest cat, genuinely talented, respected by his peers and adored by women. He?s also been, historically, sort of an idiosyncratic character, but I found this Esquire interview really interesting and direct. He?s not stuck up his own ass he talks about the racism he faced in the white rock establishment, while he was also being ignored by Black entertainment outlets. He also talked a lot about how much the LGBTQ+ community has meant to him and been his family from the start. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
On struggling to be taken seriously by the rock-critic establishment: ?There was this one article that, at that time, said, ?If Lenny Kravitz were white, he would be the next savior of rock ?n? roll.? I got a lot of negativity thrown at me by all these older white men who weren?t going to let me have that position?It was discouraging at times. I?m good. Intact?happy, healthy, focused, with still so much to do.?
On his treatment by Black entertainment and culture outlets: ?To this day, I have not been invited to a BET thing or a Source Awards thing. And it?s like, here is a Black artist who has reintroduced many Black art forms, who has broken down barriers?just like those that came before me broke down. That is positive. And they don?t have anything to say about it? I?m not here for the accolades. I?m here for the experience.?
On the people he used to surround himself with early in his career: ?I got burned. Completely. I put it all out there, and I put it all out there in a way for people to take advantage of it. I was an empty vessel?Saying no is very difficult for me. I was like that from childhood. My mom used to call me the Pied Piper. I?d bring everybody home. Just met them a few hours ago? I bring them home. I love people. I always have loved people.?
On the recent racist and misogynistic comments from Rolling Stone founder and former editor-in-chief Jann Wenner: ?It?s very disappointing and sad. I?ve known Jann since 1987. I?ve been to his house. In his life. I was disappointed. I was very disappointed. The statement alone, even if you just heard about the man yesterday, was appalling and embarrassing. And just wrong.?
On how the LGBTQ+ community has been a big influence on his life: ?Not only in fashion and style, because that?s just something on top. They raised me. I was in the street?my choice?and it was the eighties in West Hollywood. It was that time; artists, musicians, hairstylists, and designers, those were the people I was hanging out with. I wanted to be around the creatives, and most of the people I met were from that community. [They] protected me. Educated me. Fed me.?
On the infidelity ?word curse? his father put on him: ?I felt it when he said it, but the shock waves lasted decades and got stronger and stronger and stronger?I put some people through some hard times.?
On getting married again: ?Absolutely. I?ve grown enough. I?ve become stronger. I?ve become more disciplined. I?ve become more open to be able to do so. But it?s been a very difficult thing for me to figure out.?
On being open to having more kids: ?I could not, and I could. If it doesn?t happen, I?ve done the best with Zo that I could ever dream to do. If I was with somebody that wanted to have kids, absolutely. A hundred percent.?
On his grueling touring schedule: ?Your whole life is centered around being able to do those two and a half hours every night. So you don?t hang out. You don?t smoke. You don?t drink. You don?t talk a lot. You?ve got to get your sleep.?

59 years old and he?s not ready to say for-sure that he won?t have another kid? Eh. Honestly, though, it?s surprising that Zoe is his only child, just as it feels strange that Lisa Bonet was his only wife. Maybe that marriage was so monumental, he never could manage to repeat the energy. Do you think he?ll eventually remarry? Hm. I would marry him just for access to his amazing real estate. And of course, he?s Lenny and he?s still got ?it.? That being said, he knows he?s a compulsive cheater and he knows he put a lot of women through a lot of tough times. Does his real estate portfolio make up for it though??

The best part of this time of year is that most holiday meals feature mounds of mashed potatoes. I am a mashed potato person, and a french fry person and even a baked potato person. I have more rules about baked potatoes though I loathe ?full loaded? baked potatoes and you shouldn?t put everything but the kitchen sink on your potato of choice. Like, it?s gross when people use fries as a vehicle for all kinds of meat, chili, cheese, poutine, whatever. The potato is wonderful enough to stand on its own, which is why mashed potatoes are probably the purest potato just some butter, salt, pepper and cream and you?ve got perfect mashed potatoes. But not according to Julianne Moore. Julianne Moore hates mashed potatoes. Why????
Julianne Moore is a staunch hater of one of the world?s most beloved comfort foods. The actress, 63, revealed that mashed potatoes rank at the top of her least favorite foods list ? and she can?t understand why other people dont feel the same.
?Why do people like mashed potatoes? It?s just mush. It?s just mush!? she said at a May December cast panel in New York City moderated by Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz on Nov. 30.
While her costar Charles Melton was quick to defend the dish, Moore hit back and said, ?I know, people love it, they love them ? it?s just mashed mush.?
Natalie Portman, on the other hand, said she?s opposed to fruit in salad. ?I?m not into it. I like fruit salad, but I don?t want a savory salad with fruit in it. It bothers me.?
Melton, 32, shared that he doesn?t like blue cheese.

Mariah Carey covered some special Christmas issue of People Magazine, and I believe that?s how People Mag got the ?tip? that Mariah and Bryan Tanaka had split. From the sound of it, they broke up months ago and the whole thing was barely a story because? honestly, people forgot they were together. They?ve been together since 2016 (they got together quickly in the wake of her split from James Packer) but they?ve never been joined at the hip, and it seemed more like a relationship of convenience and stable PR more than anything else. My point is that no one really gave a sh-t about Bryan apart from Mariah, but now we?re getting ?his side? of the breakup. Apparently, he wants children.
Mariah Carey and her longtime boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka, have called it quits because he wanted kids, a source tells Page Six exclusively. We are told that the age gap of 14 years played a role with Tanaka, 40, wanting different things than Carey, 54.
?He wants to have a family. That?s not where she is at,? says the source.
Carey shares 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex-husband Nick Cannon. Tanaka, on the other hand, does not have children of his own.
The ?Fantasy? singer and backup dancer were together for seven years.
Eyebrows were raised this week when the Queen of Christmas went on her annual trip to Aspen, Colo., solo. Tanaka was also missing from her ?Merry Christmas One and All!? tour that started in November at the Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, Calif.
?He wants to start having his own life,? another source told us of the split.

This is something of a trend this year too men initiating a split or divorce because they suddenly realize that they want to be a father. It was the same with Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara. Like? did Bryan just realize that after seven years with Mariah? I don?t know it is what it is, if he wants something different or he just realized that he wants to be a father, so be it. Y?all know that Mariah wants no part in having another round of Dem Babies. You know what? I kind of hope Bryan got a nice check to go away quietly and not make too much noise. I wonder.

In June Kesha and Dr. Luke announced that they had reached a settlement after nearly 10 years of suits and countersuits. Kesha originally sued Dr. Luke to get out of her contract with him and his Kemosabe Records, on the grounds that he had raped, drugged, and verbally and physically abused her. Dr. Luke then countersued Kesha for defamation, and refused to let her out of her contract. The timing of the settlement news was a bit curious as it came just after courts had started ruling in Kesha?s favor. In their carefully worded joint statement, Kesha said she was ?looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one.? For his part, Dr. Luke?s comments made it clear he was still a passive aggressive POS. As this year draws to a close, it seems Kesha really is wrapping up this chapter of her life: she is finally contractually free from Dr. Luke and Kemosabe Records, and she?s also parting ways with her management of 16 years.
Kesha has parted ways with both her label and management, a source close to the situation tells Variety. The news comes six months after the singer settled multiple lawsuits with her former producer and label owner Dr. Luke, which stretched over nearly 10 years but were settled out of court in June.
The singer?s deal with Luke?s label, Kemosabe, which is distributed by RCA Records, officially ended last week, the source says, seven months after the release of her last contractual album with the label, ?Gag Order,? which was released in May. In a statement to Variety, a rep for her longtime manager confirmed on Tuesday that the singer has also parted ways with the company: ?Jack Rovner confirms, after 16 years, Kesha and Vector Management have agreed amicably to part ways, with much love and respect.?
Kesha followed with a statement of her own shortly after: ?My manager has been an unwavering supporter of helping me get through the lengthy legal battle I have been embroiled in for almost a decade. We have achieved many great successes and have shared a magnificent part of my life with me. I am so grateful to them and always will be. In need of a fresh start in my life, we have parted ways but I will remain forever grateful for the run we had.? The singer is said to be in discussions with potential new managers; reps for Kemosabe and RCA either declined or did not immediately respond to Variety?s requests for comment.

This has been a long, harrowing fight for Kesha. It took a lot of strength for her to keep going with the lawsuits and to continue growing as a person and an artist ? all while knowing her music was still making money for Dr. Luke. While the settlement in June was a big victory (although I?m sure we?ll never know what was paid out), being rid of the contract was always the end goal. It may not have happened as early as she wanted, but there?s still something satisfying about this coming together at the end of the year. She has a purely fresh start for 2024. And she knows it too, judging by the fantastic Instagram post she put up this week: a tasteful pic of her from behind, naked and wading in water, with the caption ?Coming back home to me .? Welcome home, Kesha.

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have been married for eight years. They have an almost-four-year-old daughter, Raddix (she?s four in January). Last year, Cameron re-entered the movie biz after taking almost a decade off. Back in 2020, she branched out and launched a zero-sugar, organic grape-based wine label called ?Avaline.? In a recent appearance on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast to promote Avaline, Cameron let it slip that her husband, Good Charlotte?s Benji Madden, is a snorer, which prompted her to share her ideal living situation: separate bedrooms!
?We should normalize separate bedrooms,? Cameron said after one ladies admitted that her husband snores.
?To me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours,? Cameron explained. ?We have the family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room. You go sleep in your room. I?m fine.?
She added, ?And we have the bedroom in the middle that we can convene in for our relations.?
When one of the hosts joked that the revelation might be controversial, Cameron joked that she can?t take it back now.
?I?ve already said it,? Cameron said, before clarifying, ?By the way, I don?t feel that way now because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married.?.

I don?t think this is controversial at all! I think we can all relate to this sentiment at some point or other. I?m also a snorer (I?m actually doing one of those at-home sleep apnea studies in March; Ive heard theyre awful) and Mr. Rosie sometimes jokes about wanting his own room on the nights where the Pink noise app doesn?t drown me out, lol. I say to each their own. There are societal norms that change throughout the times, but there?s no set rules that couples have to adhere to in order to be in a ?good? relationship. Relationships are built on love, trust, and mutual respect. If you want to sleep in separate bedrooms and that works for both of you, then sleep in separate bedrooms! Relationships can be as conventional or unconventional as you mutually agree upon. I?m not proposing you go all Will-and-Jada on it, but you and your partner have to do what works best for the two of you.

Sydney Sweeney covers the latest issue of Women?s Health, all to promote Anyone But You, the romantic-comedy she did with Glen Powell. The interview has a weird feel to it, probably because Sydney couldn?t talk about the movie during the strike, but the second the strike ended, she called up the magazine and had them add some quotes. At this point, I don?t know what to think about the romance rumors between Glen and Sydney, but I do think this young woman would do almost anything to promote her work. She?s a hustler, and I?m saying that in a complimentary way. Her parents gave up a lot to help her break through and now that she?s arrived, she?s not wasting any opportunity. Some highlights from Women?s Health:
She loves to water ski: ?It?s a lot of upper body strength, it?s balance, it?s core, it?s legs?you get tired really fast. I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun.?
She loves new challenges: ?Whenever a new challenge presents itself and I?m not scared to push myself to try, that?s when I?m really proud of who I am? I know that my body can keep going?it?s more just that mental challenge to push myself through. I take that skill into skiing, into acting, into anything I do, because it?s always more mental than physical. Of course you have to train, but it?s mind over matter at the end of the day.?
She deals with social anxiety. ?Whenever it feels like the world?s so loud, and there?s so much going on, and I?m trying to balance it all?sometimes, it can feel overwhelming.?
Her parents? sacrifice: ?I watched my parents lose a lot. We filed for bankruptcy, and they lost their house back home on the lake. [Sydney has since bought back her great-grandparents? home on the same lake so she can return.] We couldn?t afford life in L.A. We couldn?t afford life anywhere,? she recalls. To help pay the bills, Sydney babysat, cleaned restaurant bathrooms, and led tours at Universal Studios. ?It was hard because they were supporting my dream, and I couldn?t imagine doing anything else. I didn?t want to fail them. No matter how long it took, I was going to be in a TV show or a movie, and I wasn?t going to stop until something happened.?
Working with Glen Powell: ?Getting to work with Glen, I?ll never forget this one? I hope the audience can actually feel the love and fun we all shared making this film. That?s something I always feel from my favorite rom-coms?the joy and energy shared amongst the cast and crew, and I was lucky enough to experience that on this film.?
Kindness: ?I truly believe that kindness is the most important attribute anybody can have, because whoever you see on your way up, you?re going to see on your way down,? she says. ?I try to be as loyal to my people as I can, and I hope they return the favor. I also love watching everyone succeed together.?

I sometimes wonder if something has to give with Sweeney she loves to work, she?s a workaholic, she would happily book back-to-back jobs for the next ten years. And then the other side of her is happy in Idaho with her family, and wanting to get married and be a young mom. It?s possible she can do all of that have it all, but I do wonder if there will be a fork in the road and she?ll end up choosing the Hollywood life and the big career for the next ten years.

Hilary Duff has had a busy few weeks. She helped Target promote a giveaway, announced that she was pregnant with her 4th child, and took a family trip to Disneyland. Unfortunately for Hilary, her next adventure is? Covid! The day after posting pictures of her family at Disneyland, Duff shared that she and husband Matthew Koma were down for the count with the ole rona. Thankfully, none of her kids have tested positive, although that has made taking care of a five and two-year-old a bit challenging for the couple.
Hilary Duff recently got a positive pregnancy test ? and now she has a positive COVID test to go with it.
?We have Covid and our kids don?t so now we wear masks again ,? Duff, 36, wrote via her Instagram Story on Thursday, December 14, alongside a video of herself and husband Matthew Koma chilling in bed with face masks on.
?Someone?s gonna be a DJ again,? Duff added, panning the camera to show Koma, also 36, playing a tune on a portable sampler.
?Why are you putting me on blast like that?? Koma shot back playfully. ?I?m just trying to have a little fun in my undies.?
The health update comes one day after Duff shared Instagram photos from a trip to Disneyland with Koma and their daughters Banks, 5, and Mae, 2. (Duff also shares son Luca, 11, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.)

Oh man, that really stinks. In a set of Instagram stories on Sunday, Duff shared that her Covid was ?brutal? this time and that she was upset to be missing out on a holiday party because she was sick. I?m glad she and Matthew are taking it seriously enough to self-quarantine and wear a mask if they have to be around their kids. I hope they?re both feeling better soon and that Banks and Mae (it doesn?t look like Luca was at Disney with them) don?t end up getting sick too.
There are so many different things going around right now, too: Covid, the flu, RSV, and other respiratory viruses. (Heres a list of things you should do if you are exposed to Covid.) My son said six kids went home sick from his 4th grade class in one day last week. Being sick is no fun, especially this time of year, where there?s so many fun holiday-

While I know a lot of people had strong feelings about Kylie Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny, I mostly ignored them because I found the whole situation so odd. I believe they were a real couple, but I also believe that they were never super-serious or in it for the long haul. I was right Kendall and Benito have split after about ten months together:
Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner have called it quits. A source tells PEOPLE that the Puerto Rican superstar, 29, and the model, 28, are no longer a couple.
The pair were last spotted together at the Saturday Night Live afterparty in October, when Bad Bunny took on double duty as host and musical guest on the show.
Representatives for both Bad Bunny and Jenner did not respond to PEOPLEs requests for comment.
The recording artist (whose real name is Benito Martnez Ocasio) and Jenner first sparked romance rumors in February, when they were spotted joining Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber on a double date.

A source tells ET, Kendall and Bad Bunny have been doing their own things lately and things slowly started to fizzle out between them. They both knew going into this that it likely wouldnt be a forever type of relationship and that was mutually understood from the get-go. They have crazy busy schedules and know theyre still young and have a lot more to experience individually before settling down.
The source says that there isn?t any negativity between them and they still want the best for one another.
Kendall?s family still thinks highly of him, the source adds. They just want her to be with whoever makes her happy, treats her with love and respect, and someone that understands and can handle the attention that comes along with dating her with poise and grace.

Emma Stone has been a Louis Vuitton brand ambassador for years and the collaboration sucks. I say that with love in the past few years, we?ve seen LV make custom looks for other brand ambassadors, and certain people (Ana De Armas, Zendaya) find a way to make it work. Some people don?t find a way to make it work and Emma is one of them. It?s like Margot Robbie and Chanel it was always the wrong fit of actress and brand. Now, I understand why Emma initially signed on to LV she probably thought she would get offbeat, cool clothes. Instead, it?s like they give her the fuggest stuff from every collection.
Anyway, here are some photos from the Poor Things premiere in London last night. Look what Louis Vuitton gave Emma a slip dress with chest netting and what appears to be one of the worst-cut skirts ever. They topped it off with what appears to be a taffeta (?) robe. This is what passes for ?high end.? As much as I hate this ensemble, the worst part of the look is Emma?s makeup her makeup artist gave her Angry Baby Brows.

Angelina Jolie covers the latest issue of WSJ. Magazine. It?s a surprising piece, written by Elisa Lipsky-Karasz, which largely ignores the tabloid version of Jolie and barely touches the divorce from Brad Pitt. Jolie spent years healing with her children after the Pitt marriage went t-ts up in 2016, but slowly and steadily, she?s been rebuilding her life. She?s back to taking acting roles with some regularity. She?s directed another movie (Without Blood), and she?s filming the Maria Callas bio-pic. She also confirms, in this piece, that she?s signed on to a third Maleficent movie (no additional details). While she?s still being sued by and countersuing Brad Pitt over the sale of her half of Miraval, she?s already using the money from the sale to start Atelier Jolie. Which seems to be the main point of this WSJ. piece Jolie is hyping, in her hilariously awkward way, her new thing, this fashion collective she?s dreamt up. You can read the full piece here. Winning an Oscar at 24: ?Because I grew up around Hollywood, I was never very impressed with it. I never bought into it as significant or important.?
Her closest friends are refugees: ?There?s a reason people who have been through hardship are also much more honest and much more connected, and I am more relaxed with them. Why do I like spending time with people who?ve survived and are refugees? They?ve confronted so much in life that it brings forward not just strength, but humanity. I realized my closest friends are refugees. Maybe four out of six of the women that I am close to are from war and conflict.?
No social life: Meanwhile, in L.A., ?I don?t really have?a social life,? says Jolie. She says she isn?t currently dating.
Her children are the people closest to her: ?They are the closest people to me and my life, and they?re my close friends. We?re seven very different people, which is our strength.?
The public gave her a career: ?They?ve also chosen how they want you. Since I was young, people liked the part of me that?s pretty tough and maybe a bit wild?that?s the part that I think people enjoy. I?m not the one [who] you want to hear about my pain or my sadness. You know, that?s not entertaining.?
Jolie plans to eventually leave L.A. ?It?s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can,? she says, and spend more time at her home in Cambodia. ?I grew up in quite a shallow place,. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.?
On Atelier Jolie: She also seems to have an almost compulsive need to work. ?I can?t stop. I always think there?s like a fight coming.? Jolie says people around her laughed when she told them about her new venture: ?You, in fashion? No.? ?I?ve never been to a fashion show or Met Ball my entire life.?
She has so many ideas for Atelier Jolie, but she knows it will run at a loss: ?I?ll probably lose money, maybe even for a while,? says Jolie. The 6,600-square-foot space was advertised at $60,000 per month for a minimum 10-year lease; a representative for the brand declined to share the terms of the lease but said Jolie is paying less and isn?t committed to 10 years. ?If I can eventually put into practice some things that I think are improvements and I just break even, that?s a huge victory.?
She consulted human rights lawyers before consulting designers: ?What would be an ethical business? We are trying to reverse-engineer it a little bit. I don?t know the answers. Can we avoid doing real damage?not only to the earth, but the garment workers? ? Is it possible that I could go somewhere and enjoy making clothes, enjoy wearing clothes and not hurt anybody? And actually maybe treat people well??
Her style: ?My daughter jokes that I wear too many trench coats. It?s just like a hiding thing.?
She?s comfortable with her body now: ?It?s like I see my scars and my things, and I feel like I?ve lived. And I?m having these big experiences, and I have this map of this complex body that?s changed over time. You and I both know that a woman with a full life is very sexy.?

I want her to get back with Jonny Lee Miller so badly, my god. I feel like they would be so good together now, at this age. I know that?s far from the point of this interview, but I honestly feel like she needs to let one good man in for a weekend and build from there. As for Atelier Jolie, WSJ. Mag lists all of the smaller projects she?s building within the Basquiat studio, not just full fashion design, but a cafe and sewing lessons and classes that people can take. It sounds really cool, like a modern fashion-based commune. She?s also already on her way out of LA she?s reportedly apartment-hunting in New York as we speak, and now that the kids are older, I would imagine she?ll be traveling a lot more.
