In recent weeks, it?s been really friggin? cold in the mid-Atlantic and up and down the East Coast. We all got a lot of rain, freezing rain and snow over the weekend and again on Tuesday, and temperatures have gone below freezing as soon as evening falls. So why did Blake Lively and Taylor Swift step out in New York last night without any coats, scarves or gloves? Blake looks especially underdressed, while Taylor at least looks seasonally appropriate, although I bet she wished she wore a coat.
Taylor and Blake were out last night at Lucille Pizza for a ?private party.? That?s what Backgrid says, although other outlets say that Taylor and Blake went to Lucali. Maybe they went to multiple locations. They were apparently joined by Jack Antonoff and Zoe Kravitz and some other friends.
Going back to Taylor?s ensemble she?s wearing a lot of green, snake-themed clothes lately because she?s previewing Reputation (Taylor?s Version). She?s rerecorded her 2017 album and it will likely be released in the coming months. Her Eras Tour picks up internationally next month as well. Anyway, that?s why she?s doing the snake looks Reputation is heavy on the snake imagery. Taylor?s boots in these photos are the ?Jimmy Choo Snake Boots? and they retail for $2450. Also: the crushed velvet and the cut of Tay?s dress is SO 1990s.

That video of Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet talking to each other at the Golden Globes did more to convince people of the authenticity of their relationship than any Kris Jenner briefing. The video (which I included at the end of the post) was HOT. The way Timothee looked at Kylie as she touched his collar/necklace, they have real chemistry together. I?ve seen some people question the ?opposites attract? of it all, like Kylie doesn?t seem particularly engaged with films or Hollywood in general, and I agree that Kylie probably doesn?t give a sh-t about his job. Can you imagine how refreshing that is for Timothee? That she?s not hustling in the same industry, that ultimately she doesn?t give a sh-t if he?s nominated or whatever? I keep going back to the way Kylie just slipped into the Globes without doing the red carpet as well she really just went as his date, she interacted with his work friends and he probably explained who all of those people were after they left. On the heels of their joint appearance at the 2024 Golden Globes, a source tells PEOPLE that The Kardashians star, 26, and the Wonka actor, 27, ?may seem like opposites but they really do connect on a lot? including music, friends and family.
?They?re both real with each other and things have been easy and fun,? the insider shares. ?Timothe reminds Kylie to live in a very ?present way, and she really likes that about him. They both push each other to be better people and that?s a constant thing in their relationship.?

This is where Americans? lack of work-life balance really gets exposed we?re so used to Grind Culture and, within Hollywood, we?re so used to industry people dating industry people. Not everyone has to have the same background or work in the same industry or live and breathe their work lives. I?ve wondered, in the past, if Kylie and Timothee really have anything to say to each other, but now I think they probably both enjoy that aspect of their relationship. He gets to put his work away when he?s with Kylie, and she probably enjoys being in a somewhat ?normal? relationship with the cute theater kid.

For years, we?ve heard about the Princess of Wales?s aversion to British boarding schools. She was allegedly bullied at one all-girls boarding school, and she ended up becoming a day student (as in, not a boarder) at Marlborough, a co-ed private school. Apparently, she wants all of her children, especially Prince George, to go to Marlborough. She?s been seen visiting Marlborough several times in recent months, although she and William were also seen touring Eton with George last summer as well. It?s believed that William is really pushing for George to attend Eton, the same posh all-boys school William and Harry attended. Will and Kate?s school argument has spilled out into the media, and it?s clear that Kate is really fighting to avoid sending all of her kids to any boarding school, especially Eton. Now In Touch Weekly claims that William won the battle about sending George to Eton, and that Kate is upset about it.
Kate Middleton couldn?t take her eyes off her son. As her husband, Prince William, spoke to Eton College headmaster Simon Henderson in a photo posted by a royal watcher on June 22, Kate placed her hands on her chin and gazed at George with a look that most mothers recognized instantly. ?She?s thinking, ?How did my baby grow so big, so quickly??? guessed one commenter, while others interpreted her expression as ?pensive,? ?sad? and ?worried.? Added another, ?She looks very perturbed. I suspect she?s not looking forward to her eldest son going to boarding school.?
It isn?t exactly her choice. ?Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it?s tradition,? says a source, noting that Eton is considered the most prestigious boarding school in the world, having educated England?s most elite boys ? including William and Prince Harry ? for nearly 600 years. ?Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy. Plus, she?ll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.?
The 10-year-old future king may have had a hand in the decision. ?He wants to be just like his father,? says the source, and William, 41, has regaled him with stories about his five years at the nearly $60,000-a-year school, where he was captain of the swimming team and his house football squad and was also elected a prefect in the ultra-exclusive Eton Society, nicknamed the Pop. (Harry, who didn?t enjoy his time there nearly as much, recently recounted how hurt he was when his popular big brother told him to ?pretend we don?t know each other? at school.)
Acknowledging George?s wishes, Kate, 41, ?finally gave in,? says the source. She?s reportedly skipping a royal visit to Singapore with William in November to support her son as he takes Eton?s 150-minute verbal and mental reasoning entrance exam. ?But she?s still heartbroken. She was horribly bullied at her first boarding school, and can?t bear the thought of George suffering through that.?
At least she?ll have a few more years with him: Boys don?t begin at Eton until they?re 13. It?s also just a nine-minute drive from their new home, Adelaide Cottage, in Windsor, the source points out. ?William used to visit the queen for tea because she was so close by,? says the source. ?It?s boarding only, but close enough that George would be able to come home on weekends.?
That?s Kate?s only comfort. ?At least they?ll still have some family time, and he can bond with his siblings,? the source says of Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. ?But it still seems as if her family is being torn apart. There?s also the worry that William will insist the other two kids be shipped off next. Kate knows this is all part of her ?royal duty,? but there?s a lot of tension between her and her husband right now.?

I know it?s just In Touch Weekly, but I generally believe that this is the way it?s going down William insists that George will go to Eton, George wants to go to Eton, and Kate is fighting for all of her kids to be day students at a co-ed posh school. As I?ve said before, there?s a good chance she might get her way with Charlotte and Louis. I can see that being the ?compromise? George goes to Eton, and the other two kids are day students at Marlborough. Kate won?t like it but this is just the kind of thing where William and Charles will get their way.

Here are some photos from last night?s big New York premiere of Mean Girls: The Musical. I?m not into this at all, but I?m glad Tina Fey is getting paid, I guess, and I?m sure there?s a market for it. Tina has always had such a soft spot for Lindsay Lohan, and Lohan came out for the premiere (although from what I can see, Lohan doesn?t even have a cameo in the film). Lohan wore Alexandre Vauthier and she looks like she got some face updates for the premiere. Tina?s ensemble is so? lmao.
Megan Thee Stallion is part of the Mean Girls soundtrack and I?m sure Meg was a huge fan of the original film. Megan looked amazing and she posed with Rene Rapp (who plays Regina George).
Jon Hamm was there with his new wife Anna. Hamm has a small role in the film, as one of the teachers.

Today is the Princess of Wales?s 42nd birthday. This year, we were not gifted with wall-to-wall briefings in which Kate promised to be especially keen, nor were we told endlessly that Kate is absolutely perfect and never, ever puts a foot wrong. Instead, the birthday stories are leaning into the idea that Kate will spend the day with her grifter mother. The Mirror suggested that Carole Middleton will organize a party for Kate at Middleton Manor, and the Sun claimed that Kate would spend the day at her parents? house as well, being ?spoiled? by Carole, Mike and Prince William. LOL. The Sun also claims that 41 was kind of a rough year for Kate, which is probably true.
Kate Middleton will mark her 42nd birthday today with homemade gifts from her three children and a birthday cake courtesy of her mum Carole, we can reveal. The Princess of Wales is expected to spend the day celebrating with husband Prince William, their children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, Prince Louis, five, and the Middletons at her childhood home in Bucklebury, Berkshire. There she will be showered with craft themed gifts from the children and will be made ?a fuss of? and ?spoiled? by William and her parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous about the princess?s celebrations, royal expert Jennie Bond said: ?Luckily the children don?t go back to school until the 10th, so the family can celebrate the last day of the Christmas holidays and Catherine?s birthday at the same time. Last year her birthday coincided with all the publicity about Harry?s book, which was about to be published. This year things are looking much smoother for Catherine and her family. She has also weathered the storm of Omid Scobie?s book and I?m sure William and the children will want to spoil her with cards and special gifts.
?There is no doubt that the Princess would value nothing more than some handcrafted presents from her children. Perhaps their granny, Carole, will help them make a birthday cake for her after all, Catherine has always enjoyed helping the children learn to bake. I?m sure Catherine?s parents would love to make a fuss of their daughter and it may be that William will want to treat his wife to a romantic birthday dinner, but with school starting the next morning, they are more likely to spend the evening sorting out uniforms and school bags ready for the start of term!?
It has been a year of ups and downs for Kate since her last birthday. She was accused of being cold towards her sister-in-law Meghan in Harry?s book Spare, and he further claimed she was ?disgusted? when Meghan asked to use her lipgloss. In his book, he also partially blamed Kate and his brother for his decision to wear the controversial Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party in 2005, claiming they both ?howled? when they saw him. And more recently, Kate was named along with King Charles as the two royals who allegedly questioned the tone of Prince Archie?s skin.

Bond keeps going, claiming that Kate is enjoying her 40s and she won?t let a little thing like her own racism get in her way to future queendom. It?s interesting that people think that Kate goes to her mother?s house for her birthday? I?m sure it?s true, but I wonder if William is even around.
Buckingham Palace also published this photo of Kate at the coronation for her birthday. It?s a funny choice while it?s a flattering photo of Kate, it?s interesting that no one in the family is looking at her.

Back in the day, the Art of Elysium gala used to be a much bigger deal. They used to get more Young Hollywood people at the gala than the Golden Globes the following day. These days, not so much. This year?s gala was a tribute to Neil Gaiman and it was sparsely attended. Christina Hendricks was one of the biggest-name ?fashion girls? there and her corseted look was? yikes. It looks like a bad costume the shades of red don?t match and her hair & makeup are appalling.
Heidi Klum walked the carpet with her daughter Leni, who is very cute. I?m getting a Cindy Crawford-Kaia Gerber vibe, as in Heidi is trying to nepotize her daughter into the modeling industry.
Joseph Gordon Levitt barely shows up on any red carpets these days, but look! He looks great.
Patricia Arquette looks like she raided a ?70s thrift shop.

Jodie Foster is 61 years old and she?s spent more than fifty years in the industry. She?s won two Oscars and she?s raised two sons. She?s currently promoting True Detective: Night Country, where she plays an Alaska cop. People who have gotten early screeners of this True Detective season say that it?s brilliant and Jodie is great in it. She?s also promoting Nyad a little bit that?s the Netflix movie where she plays the coach of Diana Nyad. I?ve always liked Jodie and it feels like she?s more relaxed these days, less guarded and chattier in general. She recently spoke to the Guardian about True Detective, motherhood, working with so many young artists and her informal mentorship of young actors. Some highlights:
What it was like to work with so many younger people on ?True Detective?: ?Well, I?m pretty fun. I mean ? I don?t take anything seriously. I make jokes all the time. And, you know, I?m not an expert? I just know me, I don?t really know anybody else, and even as a director ? I?m not really an actor?s director, interestingly.?
Working with ?True Detective? director Issa Lopez: ?She has directed four movies, and I?ve been in so many films, and I think that part is sometimes daunting. But we bonded immediately and laughed through everything. I like it when directors tell me what they want and say things like faster, slower. I?m not interested in directors who are like? ? she puts on a whispery, luvvie-ish voice ? ??Here, let me shake you!? She might have to do that with other people, because they?re young or they?ve never acted before. And I would watch her do that with them and ? You?d better not do that with me.?
Her advice to younger people in the industry: ?They need to learn how to relax, how to not think about it so much, how to come up with something that?s theirs. I can help them find that, which is so much more fun than being, with all the pressure behind it, the protagonist of the story.?
She?s trying to mentor Bella Ramsey & other young actors: ?I do a lot of reaching out to young actresses. I?m compelled. Because it was hard growing up.? When she looks at Ramsey, who told British Vogue earlier this year that ?I?m not 100% straight?, does she feel a pang of sympathy for her younger self? ?Yes.? It was so bleak. ?But I had my mom, you know.?
She admires the way Bella Ramsey exists in the world: ?We weren?t free. Because we didn?t have freedom. And hopefully that?s what the vector of authenticity that?s happening offers ? the possibility of real freedom. We had other things that were good. And I would say: I did the best I could for my generation. I was very busy understanding where I fitted in and where I wanted to be in terms of feminism. But my lens wasn?t wide enough. I lived in an incredibly segregated world.?
For all her cheerleading of Gen Z, Foster isn?t above being irritated by them. ?They?re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They?re like, ?Nah, I?m not feeling it today, I?m gonna come in at 10.30am.? Or, like, in emails, I?ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they?re like, ?Why would I do that, isn?t that kind of limiting???
Her two sons, who were raised by three women: ?My two don?t like sports. They like to watch movies and sit at home, and they?re really into their female friends. They?re super feminist. And there was a moment with my older one when he was in high school, when, because he was raised by two women ? three women ? it was like he was trying to figure out what it was to be a boy. And he watched television and came to the conclusion, oh, I just need to be an ahole. I understand! I need to be sh-tty to women, and act like I?m a fker. And I was like, no! That?s not what it is to be a man! That?s what our culture has been selling you for all this time.? The phase went on for six months, she says. Did she let it play out? ?Yes, and no. I was like, you won?t be talking to me like that.?

I like this answer: ?I did the best I could for my generation.? I think that?s very true there was a time when the LGBTQ community wanted Jodie to be more public, more vocal about her sexuality and her life and she just refused. It was a generational thing but it was also just about Jodie needing to keep things a certain way to feel safe, which is partly generational and partly about her own experiences. As for what she says about Gen Z? lmao. That?s going to upset some people. She?s not wrong though, just my opinion!

The annual Palm Springs International Film Festival officially began on Thursday. Celebrities convened in Palm Springs to pick up random awards and glad-hand with desert-dwelling Oscar voters. Seriously, the Palm Springs festival is just an event for Oscar-campaigners, which is why they schedule it at the start of the awards season. Even Cillian Murphy came out, because the studio made him fly out for the Golden Globes on Sunday. He looks like he?s being held against his will, which probably isn?t far from the truth.
I?m mostly including the fashion girls in this post, although a surprising number of potentially Oscar nominated men came out to Palm Springs as well, including Leo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo and Willem Defoe. Sidenote: I really do think RDJ might be the frontrunner for Best Supporting Actor (for his role in Oppenheimer), but I?m also curious to see if anyone puts any money behind a late campaign for Milo Machado Graner, the kid in Anatomy of a Fall, because he was amazing.
Fashion notes: Emma Stone was predictably in Louis Vuitton, as she?s an LV brand ambassador. I?m not head over heels with this look, but it?s one of the more interesting LV ensembles for Emma. Margot Robbie wore a Barbie-inspired polka-dotted Balmain dress, which is very cute and on-theme, but I do wonder if she?s going to do Barbie-theme throughout the awards season? Carey Mulligan also wore Balmain (a terrible look, tbh) and she posed with Meryl Streep on the carpet. Lily Gladstone wore a custom Rodarte in a beautiful shade of green. She paired her dress with jewelry made by Native American designers. Taraji P. Henson wore Alexandre Vauthier another great green, but the deep-V is not flattering (her girls look lopsided!). Billie Eilish wore a Gucci scarf and carried a Playboy purse, yuck. Last thing: I love that Da?Vine Joy Randolph is getting couture for all of her events.

There has been some really fun casting gossip to come out about Barbie. For instance, John Cena landed his cameo as Mermaid Ken because he just so happened to be filming a different movie at the same studio as Barbie and when he ran into Margot Robbie at a restaurant, she asked him if he wanted to come play on set for a day. We found out that Dan Levy, Bowen Yang, Ben Platt, and Matt Bomer all had to turn down roles as Ken while Jonathan Groff reluctantly passed on Allan. We also learned that Gerwig was disappointed that Timothe Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan were both unavailable to make ?speciality cameos.? But one really fun bit of casting that we hadn?t heard the story behind until now was that of America Ferrera?s husband, Ryan Piers Williams. Williams plays the husband of Ferrera?s character, Gloria. He makes a couple of brief appearances as a part of a movielong joke about him being too busy practicing Spanish via Duolingo to notice that Gloria and their daughter Sasha have disappeared into Barbie Land. Turns out, this was merely a very coincidental case of art imitating life.
We didnt tell anybody, any of our friends or family, Ferrera, 39, says of her husbands cheeky cameo in this weeks issue of PEOPLE. And it all started with an early call she had with Barbie director and co-screenwriter Greta Gerwig.
It came about because on my first zoom with Greta. I was telling her all my favorite parts of the script and all the parts that made me laugh out loud, Ferrera recalls. And I said, Oh my God, I laughed so hard when you cut to the dad doing his Spanish lessons, because my husband was literally in the other room doing his Spanish lessons.
Ferrera continues: Right away she was like, Oh my God, does he want to play your husband? And I was like, I dont know, youll have to ask him. Fast forward to when they were closer to the shoot, Gerwig hadnt forgotten about the idea. When it came time, she was like, Remember when I asked you if your husband would play your husband? And he said yes, says Ferrera. So it was really fun and it did, it made it a family affair and it was great.

I freaking love this little tidbit! It?s a really funny coincidence. I?m glad Greta saw the humor in it as well and ended up casting Williams because this background info makes the husband/dad character all the more fun. America and Ryan both ended up moving to the UK with their children while Barbie was being filmed, which makes sense since they?re both so young (currently ages five and three) and because the production reportedly had strict Covid rules that required everyone in the cast and crew to live in the UK during the three months of filming. I?m really glad America shared this story because now it will forever be a part of Barbie movie lore.

Every time I read about Lucy Hale she comes across as curious, independent, and chill. I loved her preaching the merits of solo travel last summer, something I indulge in and thoroughly recommend myself. I hope she finds her way to a project that will give her career a jolt. Not that she hasn?t been working steadily since Pretty Little Liars ended in 2017, but nothing has been as visible for her since that show. Going by her own comments lately, it sounds like she?s in a settled, open mindset after putting in some dedicated self-work. Lucy rang in the New Year in a fabulous set of pajamas and by marking two years of sobriety. Bravo, Lucy!
?This continues to be the greatest gift I?ve given myself,? she captioned her Instagram post Tuesday.
?I remain so grateful for another year of growth, growing pains, lessons, joys, and self-realizations.?
Hale said the ?interactions, conversations, and moments of vulnerability? she?s shared with people since quitting drinking has given her ?so much meaning.?
?Those experiences have been my favorite takeaway from this last year,? she continued. ?To every person I have connected with?thank you from the bottom of my heart.?
Hale, who has been open about her past ?self-destructive? battle with alcoholism, addressed fans who may be having battles of their own.
?Lastly, if you are struggling please know you are not alone and that you do not have to trek this path alone,? she wrote.
?There is no right or wrong way to heal and it is deeply personal and unique to each of us. My only advice is to remain open hearted, curious, and to find the people who see and support you. It does get better. Take it moment by moment.?
?I?ve been working on getting sober since I was 20,? Hale said in Feb. 2023 during an appearance on ?The Diary of a CEO? podcast with Steven Barlett. ?I?m 33, it takes time. It took patience with myself.?
?I can show up exactly who I am and share my story, and to actually be able to talk about this is so freeing because it?s not chaining me down anymore,? she went on.
?It takes the power away from it. I can be Lucy, which is not always cute at times. It?s dark and disgusting and scary and that?s what makes us all complex, beautiful human beings, is we all have got this shadow self.?

Oof, her comments on it taking time and patience really resonated with me. I?m not a drinker, but I am an eater. It?s overwhelming whenever I think of the total amount of weight I want to lose, and that just makes it harder for me to get started and to stick with it. And I say that as someone who did lose a lot of weight when I was younger at a very steady pace over a period of a couple years. I just, well, managed to find the weight I?d lost! So I salute Lucy in her victory of two years of sobriety ? she should absolutely celebrate it and be proud of herself. Sobriety, like all aspects of health and wellness, isn?t something that?s achieved, it has to be perpetually maintained. Lucy seems to have found peace with the work being ever-present. I?d say that deserves splurging $137 on feather-cuffed silk pajamas (and that?s the sale price!).
