Here are some fashion photos from last night?s Billboard Music Awards ? you can see the list of winners here. Every year, it just seems like fewer people really care? Maybe that?s because Billboard kind of chose the worst possible night to air their awards show. Well, I think it?s the worst because I?m an adult. I?m sure the kids thought it was cool and those kids weren?t interested in Game of Thrones or Mad Men.
So, let?s talk fashion. Britney Spears in Yousef Al-Jasmi. It?s a pretty boring dress, but she looks fine. Britney posed with Iggy Azalea on the red carpet (they performed together) and then Britney posed with her boyfriend Charlie Ebersol.
Jennifer Lopez wore this Charbel Zoe dress that looks like dozens of Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab dresses that J.Lo has worn before. What I?m saying is that I?m pretty tired of this look and J.Lo needs to mix it up!
Taraji P. Henson in Alexandre Vauthier Couture. She?s so sexy! I?m not in love with this dress, but it?s an okay choice for a fun music awards show. I like the glimpse of her tattoo as well.
Laverne Cox in Marc Bouwer. I like a cute minidress and this is pretty cute. I think the cut on the shoulders makes her look wider than she really is though.
I?m sure it took all the king?s horses and all the king?s men to get Mariah Carey into this revealing Tom Ford mullet dress. Poor Mariah? she just canceled some Vegas shows because she has ?bronchitis.? You can?t blame Mariah for that ? blame the poor bastards in Las Vegas who thought it would be a good idea to give Mariah a residency.
I actually think Olivia Culpo is incredibly pretty, and I love that Nick Jonas is in a serious relationship with her. Olivia wore an Elie Saab playsuit, basically. Only it was fancy and sparkly. It?s sort of a perfect choice for the girlfriend of one of the Billboard artists.

Amanda Seyfried covers the June issue of Vogue to promote Ted 2, the sequel about an expletive-spewing teddy bear. It’s a weird use for a fashion bible feature, but sure. In the movie, Ted will get married to his human girlfriend, and Mark Wahlberg’s character agrees to father the couple’s child. Amanda plays the family lawyer who is tasked with proving Ted is “human” enough to have custody of a child. Set photos have indicated that Amanda and Mark’s characters hook up, which sounds about right for a Seth McFarlane movie.
In this interview, journo Vicki Woods describes Amanda as “a serious hugger.” Amanda covers a variety of topics, including her social anxiety and how she was embarrassed to watch her drunk appearance on Letterman. She frets over Finn the dog and how she’s hyper aware of his mortality. As an obsessive dog owner, I can identify with that fear. In a significant move, Amanda also discusses her relationship with Justin Long. They’ve been dating since August 2013, and Amanda’s finally giving some dish:
On her Letterman appearance: “It made it fun for me, but then I watched it and was like ‘That is not what I want to promote about myself.’” Soon after, she started seeing a shrink to help get over her debilitating fear. “I have a lot of anxiety that I?ve been struggling with my whole life. So I have been working through it. I?m terrified, but this is exactly what I wanted.”
She worries about Finn: “I just don?t want to leave him anymore. Maybe it?s because I?m subconsciously aware of his mortality. I try not to think about it, but somewhere inside of me, I?m like, He?s going to die way sooner than all the rest of the people I know!”
How she got together with Justin: “I followed him on Instagram, and I thought something he said was really funny. It was a beautiful picture of a snail, and the caption said, ‘F***ing MOOOOOOOOVE.’ It made me laugh out loud, so I texted him. I really do have my own identity, both inside and outside the relationship, if that makes any sense. It just feels right. It?s also really good to feel OK being alone.”

Amanda is usually very private about her romances, so it’s notable to see her discussing Justin with the media. She dated her own private army of douches for so long, and Justin seems like the nicest guy. I suspect an engagement might be on the horizon. In the interview, Amanda mentions an impending wedding at her house, but she’s talking about her sister’s upcoming ceremony. Amanda will catch the bouquet.

It must be Little League soccer season, because here are more photos of Angelina Jolie with some of her kids at another soccer game. Shiloh and possibly Zahara were playing with their soccer team on Saturday in LA, and Angelina brought out Knox and Pax to watch their sisters. Several things are amusing me about these photos. First of all, trust Angelina to basically wear a black suit to watch a kids? soccer game on a weekend. I understand that she believes in staying out of the sun and covering up, but wearing a long-sleeved black suit to a soccer game is a little bit much. Second of all? Knox has the same haircut as Shiloh these days. Which is an adorable shaggy bob. And Knox is such a little strawberry-blonde!! Third of all, Pax?s hair is on point these days. That?s a great haircut!
Incidentally, we recently learned something new about the Jolie-Pitt household, courtesy of Rebel Wilson. Rebel was promoting Pitch Perfect 2 last week and Rebel told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strathan that she was recently at a table reading for a Sacha Baron Cohen film with Brad, and Brad mentioned that his family is sort of obsessed with Pitch Perfect. Rebel said: ?I was sitting next to Brad Pitt and he’s like, ‘Uh, I’ve seen your movie like 20 times. My kids love it.’ And he said, ‘Angelina watches it as well.’” I?m guessing that Shiloh and Zahara probably like Pitch Perfect a lot and they make the whole family sit through repeated viewings.
I wonder if Angelina remembered to bring healthy snacks this time? Probably not. I bet she just bought ice cream and treats at the park again.

Directed by ?Clouds of Sils Maria? helmsman Olivier Assayas, the project is said to be a paranormal story that is set in the world of fashion.

Here are some photos of Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts at the Cannes photocall and premiere of their new Gus Van Sant film, Sea of Trees. Terrible title, right? Especially given that the film sounds like an utterly maudlin, depressive exercise. The film is about a man (McConaughey) who wants to commit suicide, so he travels to Japan?s ?Suicide Forest? and ends up meeting some other people wanting to commit suicide and he ends up going on a journey to learn that he doesn?t really want to die. Sounds pretty terrible, right? Like, why would you even want to make that film? And why wouldn?t you call the film The Suicide Forest? That seems like an obvious one, right?
Anyway, the film is apparently as bad as it sounds. Sea of Trees was the first film at this year?s Cannes Film Festival to be booed following the first screening. EW compiled some of the worst of critics? tweets here ? The Guardian called the film a ?fantastically annoying and dishonest tear-jerker.? Vanity Fair?s Richard Lawson skewered it. I?ve yet to see a positive review. Apparently, people were actually HISSING. So what was The McConaughey?s reaction? He told the assembled journalists at the press conference, ?Anyone has as much right to boo as they do to ovate.? Alright alright alright.
As for fashion? Naomi?s photocall dress was Peter Pilotto. Her premiere look (the one-shouldr gown in pale silver-blue) was Armani Priv Spring 2015. Matthew?s wife Camila Alves also walked the premiere red carpet, but not with her husband. Camila?s gown is Gabriela Cadena. I think I like Naomi?s Armani most of all, although I wish it was just a touch longer.

Here are some random fashion photos from the Cannes Film Festival this weekend. These are photos from the multiple premieres, including the premieres of Mia Madre, Sea of Trees and more. Let?s start with Sienna Miller ? Sienna is a judge this year, and many of us were expecting Sienna to fulfill the ?fashion girl? requirement that the Cannes judges panel seems to have every year. So far, Sienna has been a big disappointment, no moreso in this absolutely awful Valentino gown. I guess it?s supposed to look like a kite? But it just looks like cheap patchwork. Sienna?s styling has been pretty bad too.
Li Bingbing is my favorite of this group. She wore this Zuhair Murad Couture Spring 2015 gown which is absolutely perfect for Cannes. It?s big, it?s pretty, it?s beautifully tailored and she looks great in it. Yay!
Noomi Rapace in a rather striking gown (ID unknown). She?s part of the jury for Un Certain Regard and she was just announced as the lead in a Maria Callas bio-pic, which is an excellent choice. Yay for Noomi!
Sonam Kapoor in Ralph & Russo Couture ? eh. Blue is my favorite color but I have an aversion to these shades of electric blue. They look cheap to me. The design is major drama though and it looks like fun.
Natalie Portman in Christian Dior. Dior is doing twee ikat prints now? I think this was a bad choice for Natalie, but she?s been making some really awful fashion calls lately.
Natasha Poly in custom Michael Kors? Kors has been doing a lot of ?70s inspired stuff and if I?m being honest, I could see how it would be cool to have a liquid gold caftan or something. But this is trying too hard to be a modernized ?70s vision. It should have been longer.
Jane Fonda in Atelier Versace. Same kind of questionable blue as Sonam Kapoor. Imagine how great this would have been in a pale blue.
Andie MacDowell in a Ralph & Russo Spring 2015 Couture wedding gown. I don?t get it? Why come to Cannes if you?re just going to wear a wedding gown?

Here are some photos from the Cannes Film Festival premiere and photocall for Todd Haynes? new film, Carol. It?s a drama set in the 1950s about a woman, Carol (played by Cate Blanchett) who sort of embarks on a love affair with a young woman (played by Rooney Mara). It?s supposed to be a rather beautiful, striking film and it?s already getting rave reviews at Cannes, with many critics already claiming that Blanchett will pick up her seventh career Oscar nomination for the performance.
As for fashion? at the photocall, both Cate and Rooney wore McQueen. I wonder if they planned that out? Because it worked out perfectly ? Cate was the black-clad badass and Rooney looked ethereal and virginal. They were like yin and yang. For the premiere, Cate wore this over-the-top Giles Fall 2015 gown. I?m not really into it. Like, I could have gone with her on the whole HUGE skirt/ball gown thing, but the fabric is killing it for me. Rooney wore a Rochas gown from 2005 to the premiere. I?m not really into her look either.
Last week, we discussed how Cate had apparently told Variety that she had been in intimate relationships with women ?many times? ? go here to recap that interview. Cate was asked about that in Cannes, and she sort of took it back, telling journalists:
?From memory, the conversation ran: ?Have you had relationships with women?? And I said: ?Yes, many times. Do you mean have I had sexual relationships with women? Then the answer is no.? But that obviously didn?t make it.?
?But in 2015, the point should be: who cares? Call me old fashioned but I thought one?s job as an actor was not to present one?s boring, small, microscopic universe but to make a psychological connection to another character?s experiences. My own life is of no interest to anyone else. Or maybe it is. But I certainly have no interest in putting my own thoughts and opinions out there.?

The journalist was Ramin Setoodeh, the same guy I recently complained about with that awful Michael Fassbender interview. So? I mean, it?s perfectly possible that Setoodeh misquoted Cate or misrepresented the context of her answer. For what it?s worth, Setoodeh tweeted: ?When I asked Cate Blanchett if she’d had lesbian relationships in real life, she said: ?Many times.? She was accurately quoted.? Blah, whatever. I don?t think Cate really cares if you think she?s bisexual, so either way? blah, it?s no big deal.
Last thing ? at the photocall, there was a lot of butt-grabbing between Todd Haynes, Rooney and Cate. I think Haynes grabbed some booty first (from both ladies) and they responded by grabbing him right back.
