Usually people are fawning over her impeccable style and stunning features but Katie Holmes had a much different vibe going on yesterday (August 11) while shooting scenes for her new project in New York City.
The ?Dawson?s Creek? darling is directing and starring in ?All We Had,? and she showed up wearing a grungy strapless denim dress with unkempt hair and questionable cosmetics.
?All We Had? is based on the novel by Annie Weatherwax and earlier this year Katie announced, ?I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane [Rosenthal] and Josh [Boone] on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie?s incredible characters to the screen.?

Always on top of her game, Heidi Klum sauntered up to Radio City Music Hall in New York City last night (August 11) for the quarter final round of ?America?s Got Talent.?
Joined by fellow judges Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B, the gorgeous German supermodel smiled for the cameras in her teeny-tiny little black dress.
And prior to heading inside, Heidi got a visit from the world-famous Rockettes, who gave her a run for her money with their long and lovely legs!

Here’s Emily Ratajkowski in London for the premiere of her new movie We Are Your Friends, and now that she’s a serious actress and everything, I’ve noticed that she’s been doing a lot more premieres than lingerie shoots lately. And I’d complain, but considering Emily’s an instant pants fire no matter what she’s wearing, it’s […]

| Katy Perry covers Harper's Bazaar as Liz Taylor: glamorous or garish' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
The headline for this article was accurate if not altogether upfront. Katy does cover Harper’s Bazaar as Elizabeth Taylor, but she does so on the subscribers issue. We’ll get to that in a moment. Katy Perry also covers the newsstand version of Bazaar. She’s wearing a Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane dress and a Cartier bracelet. Katy looks gorgeous on the cover. I’ve always preferred her with black hair, and the severe, pulled-back ponytail only seems to work for her. The dress looks fantastic but not even close to functional. Who could eat dinner with a giant, transparent fan waving in one’s face? Such is high fashion.
So far, Bazaar has released only one quote, which is all about Katy’s main style influence, Liz: “An icon transcends time. Liz was so fabulous and decadent and had a style that evolved with the years … and I’m sure I’ll be married just as many times!” I saw the words “Elizabeth Taylor” and immediately thought the marriage comparison was an accurate one. So good on Katy for making that joke before anyone else had a chance. I can see hints of Liz’s style on some of Katy’s more glam, red-carpet looks, but Liz never walked around with a block of cheese or a giant sunflower on her head. The subscriber cover is Katy-as-Liz-circa-Andy-Warhol.
I hope Bazaar releases more interview excerpts soon, so we can dissect to our heart’s content. Katy hasn’t been in the news much lately. She hinted at Christmas music yesterday. She also broke up and got back together (again) with John Mayer. I don’t think either of them even keep track of the number of breakups anymore.
Katy also recently went ombre with her hair on Instagram. This light brown hair looks pretty, but I still prefer Katy with dramatic black locks.

| Kim Kardashian poses as Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra for Violet Grey: ugh' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kim Kardashian is the latest cover girl for Violet Grey. I usually like Violet Grey?s editorials, because they?re bold enough to mix it up and go for some unconventional styling. There?s nothing really new about dressing up Kim Kardashian to look like Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, considering Kim has always had a thing for Taylor (and Kim even interviewed Taylor for Harper?s Bazaar years ago). Still, the editorial and interview are interesting because they?re mostly about the iconic makeup artist, Pat McGrath, styling this shoot. Here?s an excerpt (and these are the only quotes from Kim):
That?s Kim Kardashian West channeling Elizabeth Taylor channeling Cleopatra, as designed by Pat McGrath. The images, shot by Ben Hassett, are the first installment in a series for VIOLET GREY in which Ms. McGrath will reimagine paragons of old Hollywood glamour with new faces. Ms. Kardashian West?the most scrutinized woman of our time, as Elizabeth Taylor was in hers?is the model for a re-examination of the Cleopatra tales from 60 and 2,000 years ago.
?I love Elizabeth,? says Ms. Kardashian West. ?Pat and I have had conversations about how iconic she is, and how iconic Cleopatra is.? She adds, laughing, ?I would have done anything?I would have trusted Pat?s vision no matter what she wanted?but I was really excited that it was the Cleopatra vibe.?
Ms. Grey first approached Ms. McGrath and Ms. Kardashian West with the idea for the shoot, inspired by a 1963 Bert Stern photograph of Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra. ?VIOLET GREY is named after Elizabeth Taylor?s violet eyes, and her spirit has always been an inspiration point for our core DNA. I was thrilled when both Kim and Pat responded to the Bert Stern image, inspired us to commission the first of a series we intend to be a study in lost glamour and iconography,? she says.
[From Violet Grey]
It used to really bother me that Kim sees herself as Elizabeth Taylor?s heir in beauty, fame or iconography. But at this point, I?m kind of numb to it. For this shoot in particular, I don?t even believe that Kim was the one forcing the comparison ? she was asked to do an homage and she did (and the photos are pretty striking). The whole point of the editorial is to focus on the genius of Pat McGrath and Kim was used as the blank slate, if you will.

| Keira Knightley covers Elle, discusses 'primal' motherhood & her daughter Edie | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Elle Magazine (US) is celebrating their 30-year anniversary, and they celebrated by giving 30-year-old actress Keira Knightley multiple covers for the September issue. The styling is so wacky on these covers, but I enjoy it because Keira rarely agrees to these kinds of over-the-top editorial/makeup/hair choices. As for what Keira is promoting in general: she?s in Everest, which comes out in September, plus she will be making her Broadway debut in Thrse Raquin this fall. Some highlights from Elle:
Her 30th birthday celebration: “I was heavily pregnant, I couldn’t drink?what is the point of having a thirtieth birthday if I couldn’t get phenomenally drunk? But my husband took over, arranged a lovely lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, 20 of us, and they were all being so sweet, like, ‘Look, you can have a great time and be sober!’ And it’s fine apart from the fact that they started drinking at about one. Then they came back to our house?they’d covered it in balloons that said my name and happy birthday and all that? and they got completely obliterated. They were there until two or three in the morning, absolutely drunk, and I was there eight months pregnant, completely sober. So it was lovely, but it wasn’t what I’d imagined a thirtieth birthday was going to be.”
Her 20s were crappy: ?My twenties were pretty crap?My career was absolutely amazing; in fact, I don?t think my career will ever get better than it was in my late teens, early twenties. But as a person, you?re changing so much and you?re trying to figure stuff out. Some people go wild and have a great time and throw caution to the wind, and I was the complete opposite. I was very shy. It took me a lot of years to try and stop pleasing a lot of people and allow myself to have fun. It?s the difficult thing of getting out of your own head. To stop going, ?Oh, there?s something I should be doing, there?s a way I should be behaving, I should be dressing?.? All of those shoulds, you can drown in them.?
She?s been in therapy: ?Oh, f–k, yeah! I?ve totally done therapy. I highly recommend it. I don’t do it at the moment. But in my early twenties when I found everything completely overwhelming, 100 percent, I did it! Are you kidding? I think when you’re in those moments in your life, and you want to get through them?you have to do whatever it is to help you get over it. You have to give it a go. Try anything that might help.”
Becoming a mum: “The love thing is astonishing. It’s a very primal, primal love. That’s quite extraordinary. And the ability to have no sleep and continue going. It’s not pleasant?I never thought that I could actually do it for the amount of time that I’ve done it. Also, I have to say, as a woman, you hate certain parts of your body. You go through those periods where you look in the mirror and you think, Oh, if only I had different legs or arms or whatever. You go through pregnancy and labor and then feeding the kid and you go, Wow, my body is totally amazing, and I’m never going to not like it again, because it did this, and this is f–king extraordinary.”
[From Elle Magazine]
While Elle hasn?t released the actual quote where Keira confirms the name of her baby girl, Elle?s promotional email says that Keira named her daughter Edie. EDIE!!! Edie Righton, I?m assuming, although it could be Edie Knightley-Righton. I say that because I?m pretty sure Keira kept her maiden name when she married James. As for the name Edie?it?s sort of cute, sort of hipster. A nod to Edie Sedgwick?
Her 30th birthday party sounds like so much fun! I mean, it sucks to be the only sober one at a party, especially when it?s your birthday party, but I imagine being in a house full of your drunk friends might be an excellent way to spend a day.

| Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen's company sued by interns working 50 hours per week | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen ended their teen years with more money than most of us could possibly spend in several lifetimes. They only grew wealthier after launching their fashion empire with three centerpiece lines, with the most luxurious of all being The Row. The Olsen Twins’ clothing comes at a hefty price, but they’ve always justified the expense by keeping their production stateside. They don’t use overseas factories or sweatshops, which is admirable and a rarity in any business today.
Unfortunately, a new class-action lawsuit says the Olsen Twins’ company, Dualstar, treats its interns terribly. They are expected to work harder than regular employees, and they don’t get paid. The point of an internship is to learn for future employment, but it sounds like these interns were only doing extreme manual labor and gruntwork. Lead plaintiff Shahista Lalani says she met the Olsen Twins a few times, and “they were never mean to anyone. They’re business people.” But behind the scenes, Lalani says the internship was a terrible experience, and she received no pay or academic credit:
The class-action suit, which alleges wage theft, says the 29-year-old celebs failed to pay about 40 past and present interns who have worked for them.
The lead plaintiff in the Manhattan Supreme Court case is former design intern Shahista Lalani, who says she was treated poorly, toiling for free doing menial tasks at the twins’ Dualstar Entertainment Group in 2012.
The Parsons School of Design grad worked in Manhattan under the head technical designer for the Olsens’ fashion label, The Row, for five months.
“She was very demanding,” Lalani recalled. “I was doing the work of three interns. I was talking to her all day, all night. E-mails at nighttime for the next day, like 10 p.m. at night.”
Lalani claims she was hospitalized for dehydration because of the job’s demands. “It was like 100 degrees outside. I’d just be sweating to death. I probably carried like 50 pounds worth of trench coats,” to Row factories, she said.
The Canadian native put in 50-hour weeks “inputting data into spreadsheets, making tech sheets, running personal errands for paid employees, organizing materials, photocopying, sewing, pattern cutting, among other
