Earlier this month, Anna Kendrick opened up on Alex Cooper?s Call Her Daddy podcast about the years of abuse she suffered while in a seven-year-long relationship. You can listen to her interview here. Anna is promoting hew new Netflix movie, Woman of the Hour, which is based on the true story of The Dating Game serial killer, Rodney Alcala. Anna directed the film and stars as Cheryl, a contestant on The Dating Game.
Anna appeared on another podcast this week, Crime Junkie AF. She mentioned that when she realized that the movie was going to make money, she decided to donate it to charity because it felt ?gross? to profit off of it. The charities that she?s donating her profits to are RAINN and The National Center for Victims of Violent Crime.
In a recent interview, Anna revealed she actually didn?t make any money from the movie, as she donated her earnings to organizations that specialize in victims of violent crime and sexual abuse.
?Believe me, this was never a money-making venture for me, ?cause you know, all the resources went to actually just making the movie,? she said on the Crime Junkie AF podcast. ?But it wasn?t until the Toronto Film Festival, where the movie premiered and it?s this big film festival for someone to buy movies, and that is where eventually Netflix bought the movie.?
?But, it wasn?t until like the week before TIFF that I thought, ?Oh, the movie?s going to make money,?? Anna said. ?Like, I was just so, I went from being like, ?Let me know when the movie happens!? to like, ?Oh god, I?m responsible for this,? and then I was just making the movie, making the movie, and then we just barely made the deadline to get into TIFF.?
?Then it was like, ?Oh, there?s like money going to be exchanging hands,? and yeah,? she continued. ?I sort of asked myself the question of like, ?Do you feel gross about this?? and I did, and so yeah, I?m not making money off of the movie. The money is going to, or has gone to, RAINN and to The National Center For Victims of Violent Crime, which is a charity that Matt Murphy recommended to me.?

This is a really powerful gesture from Anna. She?s putting her money where her mouth is and donating to two great charities. Even more so, she?s making more people aware that they exist. I truly hope that it helps in her own healing process. It also makes me want to watch Woman of the Hour even more. It?s already out on Netflix, so I?m adding it to my list now.

While I definitely think Jennifer Aniston can be and often is problematic, she?s never played any political ?both sides? games. She?s always been a Democrat, she?s always supported Democrats nationally. She usually attends one or two fundraisers in presidential years and I would assume she probably donates to Senate races here and there. Ever since she got an Instagram account, she?s been more politically vocal, using her platform (with 44 million-plus followers) to encourage people to vote and pay attention to various issues. Remember when the anti-vaxxers came for her neck when she was like ?people should wear masks and get vaccinated?? Well, recently, she?s been platforming a lot of pro-choice messages, including the text of Michelle Obama?s recent speech, on her IG Stories. She also posted her ?I Voted? sticker with this message:

Today not only did I vote for access to health care, for reproductive freedom, for equal rights, for safe schools, and for a fair economy, but also for SANITY and HUMAN DECENCY.
Please remember that whoever you are and wherever you live, your voice matters. Your VOTE matters.

I always halfway believed that Channing Tatum was one of the main reasons why Zoe Kravitz?s first marriage imploded. The timeline backs that up Zoe started talking to Channing when she was putting together her directorial debut, a film which would end up being called Blink Twice. As she was casting and pursuing Channing as the lead, her marriage to Karl Glusman quickly fell apart in late 2020. Zoe and Channing didn?t officially become a couple until 2021, and they got engaged last year. Well, now their relationship is over!
Zo Kravitz and Channing Tatum are calling it quits after three years as a couple. Multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE that the Batman actress and Magic Mike actor have called off their engagement.
The two first became an item after working together on Kravitz?s feature directorial debut Blink Twice, in which Tatum starred, and got engaged a year ago.
Reps for both stars have not responded to requests for comment from PEOPLE.
Tatum, 44, joined Kravitz in seeing a production of a play by Blink Twice costar Levon Hawke in New York Citys Red Hook neighborhood on Oct. 6. However, Kravitz, 35, has in recent weeks been spotted out and about without her engagement ring, including on a recent outing with Big Little Lies costar Shailene Woodley.

It sort of bums me out? I just watched Blink Twice, and I found it so impressive. Zoe is actually a great director, and she directed her lover so well it was honestly a great performance from Channing, and the whole cast did a great job. Channing seemed really into Zoe, to the point where he was following and liking posts on fan-run Instagram accounts. Channing was friendly with Lenny Kravitz too, Lenny approved of him. I wonder what happened.

We?re coming to the end of ?Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.? I hope all who wanted to celebrate/partake were able to! Technically I got things started at the tail end of September when I rescued My Guy, but I like to think of it as this way we got to honor the spirit of the month together in its entirety. Kacey Musgraves is feeling grateful right now for her rescue pup Pepper, whom she adopted in 2020. Kacey was out walking barefoot with Pepper and some human friends, when Pepper nobly protected her bare-pawed person from a rattlesnake bite ? by taking the bite herself instead. But don?t worry, Pepper survived the fracas! Mama Kacey put some shoes on and whisked Pepper to the vet where she was treated with antivenom and pain meds. I?d say this feat of derring-do by a daring dog merits a song! ?The Ballad of Pepper Musgraves? sounds like a good, country tune.
Kacey Musgraves would have been in big trouble if not for her trusty dog, Pepper.
The singer-songwriter revealed in a series of Instagram Story posts that her Australian cattle dog ?honestly saved me? from stepping on a rattlesnake while barefoot on a recent walk with two friends, though the poor pup suffered a snakebite in the process.
?Copperhead: 1, Pepper: 0,? Musgraves joked, correcting her identification to that of a timber rattlesnake in a follow-up post.
?Got her to the vet quick? for a dose of antivenom, Musgraves wrote over a series of photos and videos depicting Pepper getting an IV. ?The bite made her lethargic. Those who have Blue Heelers know they ain?t ever this calm.?
A crop of stories posted Monday confirmed that Pepper was ?home and sleeping a lot / on pain meds and getting lots of love.?
The ?Slow Burn? singer proceeded to share a series of photos depicting the dog snuggling in bed with a clear red mark on her snout where the rattlesnake struck. ?This is wild but the vet was showing me how the inside of her mouth and all down her neck is so bruised from that damn snakebite,? Musgraves wrote over a photo of Pepper?s lip being pulled back to reveal a gnarly segment of discolored skin.
Musgraves added, ?Thank god for good dogs.?

Yes, thank dog for our blessed floofs! Kacey didn?t say where this snake showdown took place, but she was barefoot and she does live in a cottage in the woods, so I?m guessing close to home? Another reason why I would not want to live in a cottage in the woods! (Limited food delivery is still reason #1.) Maybe no more barefoot walks, for the pooch?s sake? Cause Kacey?s description of Pepper?s bite sounded downright gruesome! So far on our city walks, My Guy has reliably defended me fiercely against any and all other dogs we encounter. These other dogs are usually quiet and range from friendly to completely indifferent, but he growls on my behalf just the same! He also likewise growls against? inanimate statues, of which there are many varieties now during Halloween decoration season. And something tells me if he came up against a snake, well, his bark would be bigger than his bite. Look, we can?t all be geniuses!

Well, this shocked me. I thought Gisele Bundchen was probably done with having babies, but no, she is not done. Gisele is pregnant with her third child, her first with boyfriend Joaquim Valente. Gisele has been seeing Joaquim for over two years by my calculations he started out as her friend and jiu-jitsu instructor, then it blossomed into a relationship. Joaquim is, to my knowledge, the only person Gisele has dated since her divorce from Tom Brady.
Gisele Bndchen is pregnant! The model, 44, and boyfriend Joaquim Valente, 35, are expecting their first baby together, Bndchens third, a source close to Bndchen confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday, Oct. 28.
Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and theyre looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family, the source tells PEOPLE in a statement.
Bndchen has been dating the Jiu-Jitsu instructor since June 2023. Their baby will join Bndchens son Benjamin Rein, 14, and daughter Vivian Lake, 11, who she shares with ex-husband Tom Brady.
Bndchen, who served as a Victorias Secret Angel from 1999 until 2006, was notably absent from the 2024 Victorias Secret Fashion Show held on Oct. 15, despite a variety of past Angels returns.
Bndchen and Valente were first spotted together in November 2022, when the pair visited Provincia de Puntarenas (a province located on Costa Ricas coast) with her two kids. After originally denying a romantic relationship with her trainer, a love connection later blossomed between the pair, and in February 2024, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that Bndchen and Valente have been dating since June 2023.

I forgot that Gisele is 44 years old now. That?s a lot for a 44-year-old body, but I?m sure Gisele sees this as a fresh start with the man she loves. I always thought that Tom probably wanted more kids with Gisele but she was the one saying no. That also makes me wonder if Tom is freaking out about the news. For what its worth, TMZ reports that Gisele told Tom and their kids ahead of time, before this announcement. It?s definitely interesting! Anyway, congrats to Gisele and Joaquim.
Also: in photos from September and October, she wore mostly baggier tops. She probably got to a point where she couldn?t hide her bump anymore.

Zooey Deschanel and Property Brother Jonathan Scott have been engaged for over a year. Did you think they?d be married by now? Maybe Jonathan is having a hard time settling on a location that?s special to him? Meanwhile, Zooey is a brand ambassador for Vera Bradley, which I guess jives with her twee core aesthetic. She?s selected her Top 12 bags from their Winter/Holiday line, accompanied by a very jewel-toned, ornamental photo shoot of Zooey posing with them. I did a double take looking at the photos, because in some of them Zooey looks like a dead ringer for Rachel Brosnahan! Anyway, Zooey spoke with Us Weekly recently to promote the brand partnership, where she talked about some of her favorite things and one chore that is very much not a favorite thing: unloading the dishwasher. I could muster up some sympathy, were I lucky enough to have a dishwasher myself, sigh.
?What?s cool about Vera Bradley is that they have all these beautiful, very high-end bags that are lovely velvet things that feel very fancy and special,? she tells Us. ?And they also have really great practical everyday bags and backpacks and little pouches that you can organize stuff in, like travel things. Toiletry bags, I mean, they have so many things. So it is a really great place to shop for a lot of different holidays.?

Deschanel: I do laundry all the time. I do my own stain removal. I?m obsessed with stain removal.

Deschanel: I love Monopoly and Balderdash. I love playing games, but I?m not competitive. I find it really weird when people are competitive about games.

Deschanel: My girl Crystal [Kung Minkoff] isn?t on Beverly Hills anymore, but she?s my friend, so she was my favorite. ? I mean there?s so many icons. As I lamented earlier, I live sans dishwasher, so to me this is a champagne (or Cascade) problem. Cherish your dishwasher machinery, you blessed people! My grumblings aside, I find it rather peculiar that Zooey prefers loading dirty dishes into the washer as opposed to handling clean dishes. But hey, she shouldn?t feel bad about divvying up the responsibilities so that if she loads, someone else puts everything away. And I say that as someone who only has a nine-pound, four-footed roommate to split chores with. (Wow, these Kismet-to-Zooey Deschanel comparisons are really not working out in my favor.) Other bits of this interview I found quirky was Zooey?s abrupt answer to what she sings in the shower. Ok, so you sing outside the shower. But what are you singing?! And then, her ?recommendation? of Chimp Crazy. ?I did fall asleep. That?s my problem. Chimp Crazy ? check it out.? A ringing endorsement! Or is she slyly pitching it as a hack against insomnia? I don?t mind either way, given it?s from the manipulative/exploitative director of Tiger King.

This diva!! Angelina Jolie stepped out on Saturday night at the AFI Fest premiere of Maria. Jolie heard all of you begging Nicole Kidman to bring back her curly hair and Jolie said ?I?m going to hit ?em up with some vintage Kidman.? The curly hair looks amazing on her I have no idea if Angelina has naturally curly or wavy hair but I don?t think she does? Meaning, she had to put her curlers in or something. She looks younger with curly hair as well. And ever since she got that Tom Ford Beauty contract, she?s been wearing the fk out of the red lipstick.
I don?t have much to say about Angelina?s fashion though. I mean? she?s not a fashionista, which is funny because she founded an atelier. She wore a beige silk dress which is too neutral, and she threw a sack-like shawled jacket over it. I get it the look is all about her face, but I wish she was making different style choices for this promotional tour.
Netflix released the full-length trailer for Maria a few days ago, so I?m including it again below. I have such high hopes for this movie! I?m also including an interview Jolie did at AFI Fest.

On Thursday, Kamala Harris?s campaign confirmed that Beyonce would appear at VP Harris?s rally in Houston, Texas the next day. We had been there before, and a lot of us still felt burned by what went down at the Democratic National Convention, when everyone thought Bey would turn up but it ended up being Leon Panetta. Well, long story short, Beyonce came out! The rally started later than people expected, and there were more guest stars Willie Nelson performed, Jessica Alba spoke, Senate candidate Colin Allred got things rowdy, and then Tina Knowles (formerly Lawson) spoke. Then Tina introduced her daughters, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland. You guys remember Beyonce?s Verizon ad during the Super Bowl? Turns out she really is BOTUS Beyonce of the United States. Kelly was amazing too! Here?s the video of both Kelly and Beyonce?s speeches:
Both Kelly and Beyonce spoke like civil rights leaders, did you notice that? That?s what they are women?s rights are civil rights. Reproductive rights are civil rights. That was the whole point of staging this rally in Houston Texas is ground zero for the war on women and the war on reproductive freedom. Yes, Kamala Harris wanted to give a boost to Colin Allred?s chance to unseat Ted Cruz. But VP Harris wants people to know that reproductive rights will be front and center in her presidency. I was so moved by Kelly?s speech and Beyonce?s speech too. I keep getting goosebumps every time I watch the videos.
Reportedly, this was the largest rally of the Harris-Walz campaign by sheer turnout over 30,000 supporters poured into the venue, out of the 1.5 million people who applied for a place. It?s an important reminder for Democrats to give some time to states, cities and areas which are not traditionally undecided or swing. It?s worth it to go into red states. So many Texans were inspired that VP Harris made time to campaign in their state so close to the election. VP Harris probably got millions of dollars worth of free media by going to Texas and doing this event with Beyonce, Kelly and Willie. I bet the event inspired so many Texans to get more involved in this election and future elections.

This is unsurprising, even if I had zero clue about Danica Patrick?s politics before this week. Danica is a former NASCAR driver and she dated Aaron ?Anti-Vaxx Nutjob? Rodgers for two years, 2020-2022. A few days ago, Danica gave an interview to Fox News about her plans to vote for the first time ever this year. She?s 42 years old and she?s never voted before now. In her Fox News interview, she came across like the embodiment of ?deep as a puddle.?
Former NASCAR star Danica Patrick confirmed on ?Jesse Watters Primetime? that she has never voted in a presidential election in her life, but that will be changing in 2024. And shes revealed who she will be voting for come Election Day.
It feels like voting for Donald Trump is like the vote of reason. It?s like the rational, reasonable choice, Patrick told Watters.
Patrick added that she doesnt understand why MAGA, or Trumps slogan of Make America Great Again, is considered an insult to some. Patrick also feels like theres a big divide between men and women right now when voting for Trump, and she explained why one of the common reasons shes heard people wont vote for the former president isnt good enough.
There is a difference definitely between the way that men and women are voting, and I think maybe one of the reasons why women are having a harder time with the vote is just his personality, she said. That?s the most common answer you hear from people. ?I just can?t vote for him.? I don?t think that?s a good enough reason. You don?t have to go to dinner with him. You just have to like the country that you live in.
Patrick and Watters also discussed Trump surprising McDonalds diners in Pennsylvania this past week, where the former racecar driver said it showed everyone the qualities she likes most about him.
I think that he has a great sense of humor, she began. I think that he is a man amongst the people. I feel like when you wrap that up with the humility that he has, the sense of humor that he has, the off-the-cuff confidence that he has. His ability to go so unscripted and be in so many scenarios where he has to essentially be himself, it?s pretty much all of them. That?s not just something you see from the other side, which I think is one of the most endearing and important qualities about him is that he is just being him.

Anna Kendrick is currently promoting the Netflix movie Woman of the Hour. It?s a film based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala, who appeared on The Dating Game in the 1970s at the height of his killing spree. Anna plays Cheryl, a contestant on The Dating Game, and Anna stepped in as director when the original director left the project. Anna is still feeling really raw in 2022, she spoke about leaving a long-term relationship which had been emotionally and psychologically abusive. Because of that abuse, Anna basically can?t do comedies or anything lighthearted anymore, and she?s working through that years-long abuse through her art and her interviews. She recently spoke to the Independent about the past relationship and Woman of the Hour some highlights:
Feeling unsafe is a universal experience for women: ?Unfortunately, I do know that moment where you?re in a room with someone and wondering: ?How is it that 10 seconds ago I thought everything was going fine, and now I?m not safe?? And I think that?s something a lot of people know really well. Especially women.?
Her past relationship: In 2022, Kendrick began to speak publicly about her relationship with a man whom she has described as ?for all intents and purposes my husband?. They were together for just over six years, during which ? she has alleged ? she experienced ?emotional abuse and psychological abuse?It?s hard to talk about Kendrick?s work without talking about her personal life, too. She agrees, even if a part of her hates it. ?For a second, I did think that interviews for this film would just involve me being asked about every member of the cast and the crew, and I?d just gush about them and? But so far, no one?s asked me about the sound team.?
The misogyny within ?Woman of the Hour?: ?It does feel like the most revealing piece of work I?ve ever done. It created a window into my mind. Sometimes the most torturous thing isn?t just the disrespect or mistreatment, but the fact that everyone?s acting like it?s not happening. Which then convinces you that something?s not happening. It makes you question whether you?re making all of it up, or if you?re being paranoid or too sensitive.? She?s talking about gaslighting. ?You sound crazy. You?re dismissed. ?He brushed your hair off your shoulder ? that?s nothing.? And yet when you?re there, you can feel the threat that?s hanging in the room.?
