One of my favorite things that the Duchess of Sussex has done this year is introduce her ShopMy page. Meghan and her team are constantly updating it too, especially when Meghan posts a new Instagram. Within 24 hours, the team updates the ShopMy account and IDs whatever Meghan wore in that IG post. It?s so smart, even though the Sussex Squad is exceptionally good at hunting down designer IDs in record time. Well, over the weekend, Meghan posted some great photos from the Beyonce concert. We knew that she wore a Carolina Herrera denim dress, which looked so sexy on her! But I didn?t even look closely at her jewelry (beyond her wedding rings). As it turns out, she wore two necklaces, and one of them was some kind of homage to Princess Diana. You can see Meghan?s ShopMy update here.
Meanwhile, those Beyonce-concert pics still have Salt Island really mad. You always tell the level of fury by how much they avoid endlessly reprinting new photos they did that with Invictus earlier this year, because the Sussexes looking happy and fine weren?t part of the larger narrative the British press is trying to sell. But at least one Daily Mail columnist is admitting the obvious: the Sussexes won. They won because they?re happy and free. From Liz Jones?s column (which was suspiciously buried):
If a picture is worth a thousand words, one in particular ? an immaculate, Pink polished hand on his chest, he in turn beaming down at his wife with a look of sheer adoration spoke just two very important ones: Were happy! And, oh, a couple more words, this time from Meghan (we know how loquacious she is): Ive won.
Shes had a torrid few weeks of negative podcast reviews and ridicule for taking several hours to do the school run, even though she has a nanny, for example. Criticism of unfulfilled orders for her products. Of the ill-advised use of an HRH on a gift card. Mockery at the almost unanimous panning of her With Love, Meghan Netflix series (although I found it strangely soothing and harmless).
Well, at the end of that tumult, here was the couple wed been led to believe were cowering in a panic room, showing that all the criticism was like water off a ducks back. Here they were, mingling in the crowd at the stadium in LA for all the world as if the last five years of arguments and brickbats and tears had never happened. These two arent brittle cast-iron Le Creuset after all: they are clearly made of Teflon.
Yes, Harry is still estranged from his family, but from the look of him, maybe a different, smaller family ? his wife and two children ? is all he needs?And I must admire Meghan in particular. That she can emerge, shimmering, almost covered in silver droplets, from the ocean of online trolling to appear carefree, undimmed, smiling, takes real guts.
Ive written before that Meghan is not a monster, so lets just give the woman a break. Rather than continue to attack this young woman we should see her, and Harry to some extent, as examples for those young people who might sit alone in a bedroom, broken by what they read about themselves online, seeing no way out.
Actually, I was sympathetic to Harrys BBC sit-down with the BBC. Only one fellow newspaper commentator agreed with my take, saying that the rest of the Royal family as Christian and as the ones with the power should offer an olive branch to their troubled son. To the Windsors, I say be a team, a united front. This is your way out. The only way. California looks more fun than Kensington. This snapshot tells anyone being abused to rise above.
And to Meghan: block out the noise! (Meghan has said she sees only about one per cent of whats written. Megs. Sweetheart. I hope you read this). Turn your phone off. Find someone who has your back. Because happiness really is the best revenge.

There have been other glimpses of this too subtle acknowledgements throughout this year in particular that Harry and Meghan are happy, in love and winning at life. There?s always a lot of rage directed at Meghan in particular for being in her era of joy, for not letting those terrible people disturb her peace anymore. Anyway, yeah I hope the concert photos help people realize that the Sussexes are thriving.

Jake Tapper has co-written a book about Joe Biden and how Biden was and is old. According to Tapper, Biden?s age was a huge secret AND everyone in the Biden White House went to extreme lengths to keep the American public in the dark about Biden?s age. If you think it?s extremely stupid to spend all of this energy on a man whose biggest crime was some verbal gaffes and a sore body, please join me in hoping that Jake Tapper goes straight to hell. Two big stories from Tapper?s book have come out this week, and both are offensively stupid. First up, Biden?s staff thought he might need a wheelchair:
Joe Biden?s close circle floated the idea of getting the ageing politician a wheelchair if he was re-elected as president, according to a bombshell new book.
Original Sin by CNN?s Jake Tapper and Axios? Alex Thompson said the 82-year-old?s aides were so concerned by his perceived decline that they started scrambling for ideas. His spine was in particular decline, Axios reported, citing the book, which will be released on May 20.
?Biden?s physical deterioration?most apparent in his halting walk?had become so severe that there were internal discussions about putting the president in a wheelchair, but they couldn?t do so until after the election,? one damning section of the book reads, per Axios.
Aides, however, conceded that it was politically untenable to have the U.S. president in a wheelchair.

What kind of ableism and ageism is this? Biden stumbled a few times and you could tell that he was feeling arthritic in his legs and feet. And? I feel arthritis in my legs and feet too, and I?m almost four decades younger than Biden. ?It was politically untenable to have the U.S. president in a wheelchair.? Franklin D. Roosevelt would like a word, my god. If Biden?s physical condition was so poor, why has he been jogging, biking, strutting and walking unaided in the past year? These people really have no respect for their elders.
In addition to that messiness, Tapper also uncovered the root of George Clooney?s ratfking NYT op-ed. Clooney went on and on about how Biden was clearly debilitated and out of it at a fundraiser last year. Well, Tapper?s book gets to the heart of it:

Sean Combs? federal criminal trial began this week. Federal prosecutors charged him with racketeering, sex trafficking and more. He?s facing life in prison if convicted. The federal investigation into Combs only began after Cassie sued him in civil court. As soon as her lawsuit filing came out and people got a glimpse of everything Combs did to her, suddenly the authorities were very interested in investigating Combs. Combs ended up settling with Cassie within 48 hours of her lawsuit being filed, but Cassie has been providing information to federal prosecutors this whole time. Cassie is now the star witness (and victim) of this whole federal criminal case. On Tuesday, Cassie began her multi-day testimony. She?s eight-months pregnant with her third child with husband Alex Fine. Her testimony was quite direct about what Combs did to her but you can read some of the more lurid coverage elsewhere.
Sean ?Diddy? Combs? so-called ?freak-offs? were described at length during his sex trafficking and racketeering trial in New York on Tuesday by Cassie Ventura, his ex-girlfriend and the woman whose civil complaint launched a federal investigation into the rap mogul that led to his arrest on a five-count indictment where she is names as ?Victim-1.?
Ventura also revealed from the witness stand on Tuesday that the video of Combs attacking her in 2016 in a hallway at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles shows her fleeing a ?freak-off? that suddenly turned violent. She told the court that back in March of 2016, she had her first big movie premiere coming up and beforehand had told Combs that she was eager to do a freak-off but was worried about ?wrecking? her body before the event. At the hotel, she recalled to the court, she was suddenly punched in the eye by Combs, bruising her face; at this point, she fled the room while he was ?in the bathroom or on the phone.? Jurors viewed for a fifth time in two days the video footage of the horrible beating that followed.
Ventura?s arrival at Combs? trial was touted on Monday during the opening statement by the defense as a six-year reunion for the former on-and-off couple, whose tumultuous relationship went on for a decade after the R&B singer signed to his label, Bad Boy Records. On the first day of her testimony, a heavily pregnant Ventura described in detail the frequent outbursts of violence and drug-fueled hotel room sexual trysts she says she was forced into participating in, and often initiated, by Combs as a victim of his abuse and coercive control.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson asked Ventura hundreds of questions over the 7 hours that she testified about her relationship with Combs on Tuesday?.At times, Ventura testified, she would be punished by Combs if he disapproved of her behavior by having his staff take away her possessions. This included her jewelry and her car, she said, and at times she was kicked out of her apartment. The involvement of Combs? staff with Ventura and the crimes of which he stands accused is crucial to the feds proving the racketeering element of their indictment and that a criminal enterprise existed.

I read through her hours of testimony about the freak-offs and? yeah. Combs is a sick man. Cassie is incredibly brave, she?s been brave this whole time. One of the important parts of her testimony were the parts about Combs? coercive and violent control of her. Even if she technically ?consented? to various parts of Combs? depravity, she was in an extremely abusive relationship where Combs exerted control over every part of her body and life. He controlled what she ate, what plastic surgery she had, what she wore, who she had sex with, where she slept, who she saw, who she spoke to. He controlled her finances, her body and everything else.

Here are some photos from the Cannes Film Festival?s Opening night. They let Quentin Tarantino get on stage and officially open proceedings, and Leo DiCaprio is already in town too, which means Cannes really is ?open.? Bella Hadid was my pick for standout of the first red carpet. Bella always goes to Cannes she has contracts with some of the sponsors, and I?m pretty sure she?s paid to attend events and ?pretty up? the festival. Bella wore a custom Saint Laurent dress which is kind of blah (to me). I think it was meant as a sort of blank slate so the focus would be on Bella?s jewelry she wore a gorgeous pair of Chopard earrings. Apparently, we?re looking at 118.68-carat emeralds. Bonkers. Her makeup is SOOO good in these pics. Her new caramel-colored hair really suits her.
We?ll probably have lots of mentions about the new Cannes dress code and how it?s enforced, but Halle Berry got the memo too late she?s on the Cannes jury, so she?s been organizing her Cannes looks for a while. She told reporters that she had to set aside her planned Gaurav Gupta look for the opening ceremony because the dress was too big. That?s one of the new rules no ?excessively voluminous? dresses. So Halle wore this black-and-white Jacquemus which would look like a circus tent on most women, but Halle is pulling it off.
Someone who never pulls off any look at Cannes? Irina Shayk. It?s insane Irina is beautiful and, like Bella, she gets paid to show up and pretty up these events. But year after year, they put her in terrible, ill-fitting gowns and then they style her to look completely unhinged. Her gown here is Armani Priv and it?s fine-ish. But her hair!! My god.
Eva Longoria wore Tamara Ralph Haute Couture it doesn?t fit her correctly?
Some women decided to go big, even with the ban on voluminous gowns. Heidi Klum wore a big, stupid, Pink Elie Saab gown which should have been banned! But I love QianHui Wan?s Wang Feng Couture gown. So whimsical & cute!

The Princess of Wales?s big ?Four Seasons? video announcement landed with a dull thud this week. On Monday, Kensington Palace released a video which is part of a new project for Kate. The project: Kate doing voiceover commentary about how nature is important on videos produced in-house by KP. Kate plans to make similar videos for each season, the first video being a celebration of ?spring.? You can tell how much the British royalists hate this dumb project because they refuse to even hype it up or pretend that Kate is obviously the best future queen ever for these cheesy 30 Rock-esque videos. There?s been chatter on social media about it, and the Daily Beast?s Royalist column was brave enough to mock the video out loud. This piece was magnificently bitchy, some highlights from ?Why Is Kate Middleton?s Nature Video So Damn Annoying??
Kate?s video is grating: As entirely unoffensive positions go, ?Spring is nice? is hard to beat. So it is hard to put your finger on exactly why Kate Middleton?s new video celebrating spring as (checks notes) the ?season of rebirth, of hope and new beginnings? is so grating. It?s not just the gloating, although there is something jarring about the sight of Kate, and her insanely privileged family, frolicking on their extensive landholdings while simultaneously cosplaying as totally normal members of the middle class.
Will & Kate are not a straight-forward couple: The performative happiness of William and Kate as a straightforward couple who love hiking is similarly difficult to stomach, not least because we all know that the two of them are a) locked in a brutal reputational death match with William?s brother, Prince Harry; b) have made it clear they will never forgive Harry, as Harry reminded us in his recent BBC interview; and c) won?t lend you a dab of lip gloss in a pinch.
Patronizing language: On top the main course of hypocrisy?an inevitable undercurrent in so much of what the royals do, owing to their determination to represent themselves as a normal family?there is a side serving of patronizing language that could make the most committed royalist?s toes curl. Kate, who has credited her connection with nature as being an important part of her recovery from cancer, kicks off her voiceover with a subtle reminder of that fact, declaring: ?Over the past year, nature has been my sanctuary. The natural world?s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us and help us heal and grow is boundless, and has been understood for generations.? At the risk of being committed for treason, boundless? Is it?
A script written by AI?? Kate continues burbling in this enthusiastic kindergarten hippie teacher vein for the remainder of the video, as she and William celebrate their happy marriage with lots of hugs, meaningful three-quarter profile shots of William?s beard and lingering imagery of their hands making brief but, crucially, non-damaging contact with flowers?Many of the turns of phrase are what you would expect an AI chatbot raised on a diet of Eat, Pray, Love and inspiring online quotes to churn out, including: ?Let us reconnect to nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts,? and, ?The outside world quietly awakens with new life, and there comes a sense of optimism, anticipation, and positive, hopeful change.?
Kate should stick to regular old events: Kate drifts by in floaty dresses, but it seems William neglected to stop at the wardrobe department; in one meaningful clifftop shot he seems to be wearing a suit?.The bad news, for those of us who find this video a tiny bit smug, is that this is just part one of a four-part ?Mother Nature? series, with one video also due for each of summer, fall, and winter?.This would be a marvelous advertisement for, say, a national park, or Anthropologie. But the next queen urging us all to reimagine our lives in the context of Gaia? It all makes one rather nostalgic for the days when the royals contented themselves with opening village halls.

I want Sykes and all of the monarchists to ask themselves a difficult question: if Meghan and Harry had produced an asinine video in which Meghan sounded like she was reading from a malfunctioning AI script, what would the coverage look like? How widely would the Sussexes be mocked? How many columns would be written? The (relative) silence on Kate?s keen four seasons video project speaks volumes. It?s also pretty notable that no one is asking about all of that keen Early Years busywork which was supposed to be Kate?s lifelong project? Whatever happened to the Early Years Business Taskforce on Business? Whatever happened to the KP closet that was the Keenwell Early Years Foundation or whatever it was? Are all of those resources now being rerouted to ?Kate enjoys being outside??

In 2021, Ryan Murphy?s team announced plans to branch out their ?American? anthology franchises. They already do American Crime Story, American Horror Story, etc. The new one was supposed to be American Love Story. Murphy has wanted to tell the story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette for the first American Love Story. For several years, the project kind of stalled out, or Murphy was busy on other projects. But then it was kicked up to the front of the line last fall, with Murphy?s team doing a wide casting call for John-John and Carolyn. We had casting thoughts, as did everyone else. Well, after a wide search, they?ve cast John and Carolyn. Tony-nominee Sarah Pidgeon will play Carolyn, and model/newcomer actor Paul Kelly will play John.
Excited to exclusively report that Ryan Murphy and co. have found their Jackie, John Jr. and Carolyn in Naomi Watts, Paul Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon! The trio will be at the center of FX?s AMERICAN LOVE STORY, the first in the newest franchise, this outing focusing on the couple whose whirlwind romance dominated the media landscape throughout the 90?s.
John first met Carolyn in 1992 when she was called upon to oversee a VIP Calvin Klein fitting for the former first son.
?Calvin decided it should be [Carolyn], the most effervescent person on the sales floor, who would show John the selection of clothing,? author Elizabeth Beller wrote in her 2024 book, ONCE UPON A TIME: THE CAPTIVATING LIFE OF CAROLYN BESSETTE-KENNEDY. According to reports, she gave him her phone number on the spot. Days later, he called. After a whirlwind courtship, they wed in 1996 (their first dance was to Prince?s ?Forever in My Life?).
The series will explore their marriage and their tragic deaths just three years after they wed ? and everything in between. Watts, the two-time Academy Award-nominee, who?s worked with Murphy on THE WATCHER, THE SWANS and the upcoming ALL?S FAIR, needs no introduction.
Pidgeon is a Tony-nominated actress for her work in STEREOPHONIC on Broadway and will appear in the upcoming I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER reboot. For the much-coveted part of John Jr., Murphy and team read close to one thousand actors over the course of six months ? which reminded me immediately, of course, of the search for Scarlett O?Hara. In the end, they cast newcomer Paul Kelly for the star-making role. Consider me pre-seated.

Just looking through the photos, I?m interested and intrigued. Sarah Pidgeon has that je ne sais quoi to play Carolyn an aristocratic look, elegant, mysterious. I think she?ll look amazing as a blonde too. Paul Kelly hasn?t done much acting, which might work well for JFK. I hope Ryan Murphy gets him an acting coach and some body makeup to cover up those tattoos. But he definitely looks the part. As for Naomi Watts as Jackie? Naomi isn?t old enough, damn! But Naomi will do a good job.

The Cannes Film Festival begins today. Post-pandemic and post-MeToo, Cannes has declined in relevancy, but it?s still an important stop for a lot of would-be awards contenders and stars. Cannes might even be ?too big to fail? at this point, there?s just so much money involved, so many major sponsors who have invested so much in the festival. The one consistent thing about Cannes is that women still come out wearing absurd gowns and skimpy, tacky, body-baring looks. Well, no more? On the eve of the festival?s opening, the festivals organizers told media outlets that a stricter dress code will be enforced. That dress code? No breast-baring and no giant gowns. What are we doing here??
Ahead of the start of the 2025 edition, the Cannes Film Festival has issued an updated red carpet dress code that effectively bans full nudity and ?voluminous? ensembles. ?For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival. Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted,? per the festival on its official charter. ?The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.?
The Hollywood Reporter reached out to the Cannes press office for additional comment and a festival rep confirms that the charter was just updated to reflect ?certain rules that have long been in effect.? The goal of the update is ?not to regulate attire per se but to prohibit full nudity on the carpet? in accordance with the institutional framework of the festival as well as French law, per the Cannes rep.
Cannes security officials have notoriously been strict when it comes to dress codes at the Palais, specifically for screenings at the glamorous Grand Thtre Lumire, which routinely hosts the auteur and A-list-packed world premieres. Black tie and evening wear is required for those screenings ? held in the nighttime from 7-10 p.m. ? and guidance suggests options like tuxedos and long dresses or ?little black dress, cocktail dress, dark-colored pantsuit, a dressy top with black pants; elegant shoes and sandals with or without a heel; a black or navy-blue suit with bow-tie or dark-colored tie. Tote-bags, backpacks or large bags are prohibited.?
The new ban on nudity and voluminous outfits aligns with such codes, but it begs two questions: How strictly will the dress code be enforced, and will A-list stars and/or models be booted for flouting the rules? While ?elegant shoes? are required, megastars Julia Roberts and Kristen Stewart have both removed their heels to glide up the Palais steps barefoot.

What bugs me is that this is that the dress-code update/enforcement was announced on the eve of the festival? when most women probably already organized their looks for the Palais, and many designers had already customized dozens of gowns with long, fussy trains and sheerness. Like, give women some notice so that they can make adjustments ahead of time. Anyway, I think we?ll probably hear of some women being turned away for various sheer looks, but I can?t see them turning away women for wearing big, dumb dresses. It will be interesting to see how these rules are enforced.

But there?s been a shift in recent years to focus on David and Victoria?s relationships with their children. Specifically, their eldest son Brooklyn, who married Nicola Peltz in 2022. According to the British media, Nicola is the Meghan Markle of the Beckham clan. Victoria and David are incandescent with rage that Brooklyn married an American heiress with her own career and her own publicist! Why didn?t Brooklyn marry an English rose with no power, money or voice? Sound familiar? They?ve used the Sussex story as a soap opera template and they?re just running the exact same play with the Beckhams. Some especially crazy highlights from the Daily Mail?s big exclusive:
In 2022, Brooklyn joined Nicola at a Wendy?s promo: It was just a few months after their 3million wedding that Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz attended a launch event staged by American fast food giant Wendy?s for a new summer dessert. In keeping with the colour scheme of the pudding ? a confection called Strawberry Frosty ? they dressed in Pink for their trip to Hollywood?s Sunset Boulevard. There, Brooklyn posed in an ice cream van emblazoned with the Wendy?s logo while the couple kissed for the cameras. The event got column inches across the world much, I?m sure, to the delight of the chain?s owner, Nelson Peltz ? Nicola?s billionaire father ? and her older brother Matthew, who runs the firm. The Sussex/royal flavor of this is insane to witness. And all this does is make me want to defend Brooklyn and Nicola, honestly. I don?t think they?re perfect and sure, Nicola seems a bit bratty, but from what I can tell, they really love each other and she encourages Brooklyn to find his passions, which is why he?s been doing so much with food. Brooklyn?s weird nepo-baby careers were already stalling out long before he even met Nicola. And while Nicola definitely enjoys the Beckham name, it?s absurd to say that the daughter of a billionaire is clout-chasing Brooklyn Beckham. Americans barely know who he is! Anyway, I?m glad that Brooklyn married an American woman and got away from his toxic, controlling family, just like Prince Harry.

Just a few weeks ago, the Duchess of Sussex turned up at the Time100 Summit as one of their keynote speakers. Meghan?s appearance in NYC for the summit got so much attention, as did her Ralph Lauren suit a wide-legged, flared trouser and beautifully cut jacket, paired with a lovely white blouse. Did Meghan reinvent the wheel with her ensemble? Of course not, but it was much-discussed and it got tons of play on fashion blogs, social media and in the gossip media. Well, the Princess of Wales is never beating the ?maintains and updates her Meghan mood-board? allegations. Kate stepped out today to present a special award to Victoria Beckham. Kate wore a pantsuit designer by Beckham, in what looks like the Temu version of those Meghan-in-NYC photos.
Shes already considered a style icon in her own right. And today the Princess of Wales delighted fashionistas as she presented The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design and showed solidarity with another sartorial legend Victoria Beckham amid her alleged feud with eldest son Brooklyn.
Catherine, 43, attended an event held by the British Fashion Council at Londons 180 Studios to celebrate the impact of young British creatives and the UKs thriving fashion industry, as well as recognise designers who are leading the way in sustainable practices and making a positive impact on the environment.
Sources told Mail Online that the royal, who also presented the award in 2022, was keen to pay tribute to the late Queens legacy. They pointed out that she has long championed British fashion and designers and looks forward to continuing to do so in the years ahead.
Paying homage to yet another fashionista, Kate was typically sophisticated in a stunningly tailored khaki power suit from Victoria Beckham, which perfectly accentuated her silhouette. She sported the patch pocket jacket, retailing for 850, and matching 490 Alina trousers, both in the colour willow. The royal teamed the earthy look with a white ruffled blouse, with a buttoned-up collar, and brown leather heels. Wearing her chocolate tresses down in loose waves, Kate also opted for a glamorous make-up look with smokey eyes and a dusky Pink lip.

The suit itself is fine-ish the color doesn?t work on Kate, but I think that color would be difficult on most people. But the cut is good. Kate ruins it with the ruffled blouse, and Kate?s makeup is especially atrocious today. She looks like she applied her blush with a shovel. Anyway, another successful copykeening adventure. Meghan has been doing so much this year that?s probably why Kate has taken so much time off, to maintain her Meghan mood-board.

In 2021, Amber Heard welcomed her first child, daughter Oonagh Paige Heard, via surrogacy. Soon after becoming a mother, Amber moved to Spain first Mallorca and then Madrid, and she reportedly still lives there. Well, Amber just welcomed two more babies: twins Agnes and Ocean. Mother?s Day 2025 will be one I?ll never forget. This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I?ve strived to build for years. Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang. My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full. When I had my first baby girl Oonagh four years ago, my world changed forever. I thought I couldn?t possibly burst with more joy. Well, now I am bursting times three!!! Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life. I?m really happy for her, and happy that she?s building a life and family away from all of the bullsh-t. All that being said, I have thoughts on the names! How does she go from Oonagh to Agnes to Ocean? To me, Agnes is the name that stands out like a sore thumb you can argue that Oonagh and Ocean sort of fit together, but Agnes?? Anyway, not my babies, so I?ll mind my business.
I feel like I would be remiss by not mentioning the increasingly loud speculation that a certain DOGE nutcase is the sperm donor for Amber?s children. That speculation circulated around Oonagh?s birth but I didn?t think much of it. But now? I?m starting to wonder. Especially given what we know now about how Elon Musk makes these financial arrangements with women to have his children. It would explain how Amber is able to support her family in Spain. And it?s not like Amber and Elon are strangers they legitimately dated circa 2017-18.
