One of my favorite gossip moments over the past several years is the now-annual tradition of figuring out what Victoria Beckham did for her birthday. When she turned 37, she looked at a fruit plate. When she turned 39, she looked at a cake. When she turned 40, she thought about brownies. Victoria is very, very conscious of her weight. That?s been the case for as long as she?s been famous (two decades!). She never eats the cake. She never eats the brownies. She might have a few bites from a fruit plate. And as famed celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck says, she?s really ?uptight? about what she eats, even when she visits restaurants famed for their cuisine.
Veteran celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck has revealed that he finds Victoria Beckham ‘uptight’ and says that the star only orders spinach or other steamed vegetables when visiting his upmarket LA restaurant. Austrian-born Puck, 66, who is known for cooking for Hollywood’s A-listers at the Oscars ceremony every year, lifted the lid on Mrs Beckham’s saintly attitude to food…and her less than friendly approach to fellow diners.
He said that the Beckhams are regulars at his popular Cut restaurant in Los Angeles and while David, 42, will happily tuck into a steak, Victoria, 41, prefers just vegetables. Puck, who laid on the catering at the couple’s ‘Welcome to LA’ party in 2008 when David arrived in Calfornia to play football for LA Galaxy, told Heat magazine: ‘David’s there with a steak and she’s there with vegetables. She?s uptight. Everything has to be right, she’s not interested in talking to anyone.’
Puck said that while he enjoyed a friendly relationship with former football star David, who he could ‘talk and talk’ to, he didn’t feel the same way about Victoria, even suggesting that she has a ‘game face’ for public appearances. And when it comes to Mrs B’s food choices, Puck reveals his kitchen will prepare a simple plate of spinach, with just ‘a touch of salt’.

This is what I don?t get about being rich and famous and having access to incredible food: with that kind of money and access, just eat the incredible food. Go for an extra-hard workout the next day, or go on a diet next week, but don?t go to one of the best chefs in the world and ask him for a plate of spinach. That?s so WRONG. It?s a crime against food. And while I?ve heard that Posh can be friendly (or friendlier than people think), I do believe that she?s probably less friendly than David in general.
Puck also says that he knows of many celebrity women who simply stop eating for days ahead of the Oscars, and that Charlize Theron and Sylvester Stallone both love his smoked salmon pizza. And Prince Albert loved his chicken pot pie. Oooooh, now I want a chicken pot pie.

Last week, on her 53rd birthday, Vanessa Williams premiered V. by Vanessa, her inaugural fashion venture on the Evine home shopping network. Vanessa has always had an interest in couture. With fashion savvy roles such as Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty and Renee Perry on Desperate Housewives, she says companies have been approaching her for years to start a line. She designed V. by Vanessa based on her style philosophy, which she calls ?Urban Camouflage?. In addition to attractive, well-priced pieces that represents her style, Vanessa, wanted to conceal problem areas that time creates for most women.
?This collection is a combination of me as a professional, me as a mother, and me as what I wear for comfort around the house,? she tells PeopleStyle of the line, which she named after her lifelong signature, a single V and a period. ?It?s your urban look, it?s your suburban look, it?s your casual look, and it?s your glam look, all in one.? What does that translate to? An 18-piece debut that includes jumpsuits, blousy caftans, stretch skirts, and rouched tops?all for $100 or less.
But for Williams, she also wanted her line to act as a problem solver, ?particularly for women who are 40 and up,? she says. ?My friends and I complain about bra fat and loose arms. We?ve got a couple areas that we want to cover. Gone are the days when you?re 20 and you can just wear a little spaghetti strap thing and everything?s up and perky by itself. I?ve gone through my 30s, 40s, 50s and my body keeps changing with every decade. Yes, I?ve got bra fat and love handles. It?s a constant struggle. So, my view is don?t give up the fight, keep it moving, embrace where your body is going, and then dress accordingly.?

I cannot put too fine a point on this: bra fat sucks. I have a daily struggle with trying to turn it into some kind of cleavage. Vanessa says she doesn?t want women to disappear under a bunch of fabric to hide problem areas and it looks like she has used form and drape to our advantage here. These first pieces are pretty basic but many of the silhouettes I wear so I like it. Since Vanessa said this line is a reflection of how she dresses, can I buy the gorgeous blue dress below and pretend I look just like her? V. by Vanessa is off to a good start; many items sold out and overall exceeded sale expectations by 10%. More pieces will be released in both April and May.
It does seems like once you hit a certain position in Hollywood you are required to launch either a clothing line, a perfume or a lifestyle brand doesn’t it?

Yay!!! There was a big premiere in LA last night for I Saw the Light, the Hank Williams bio-pic starring Tom Hiddleston. And thankfully, Tom was there, looking lovely. Tom?s costar and rumored real-life girlfriend Elizabeth Olsen was in attendance as well, and they even posed together on the red carpet. It?s an Easter miracle!
Tom wore one of his favorite blue Alexander McQueen suits (I swear we?ve seen it several times before), and Elizabeth Olsen wore a sort of boho Emilio Pucci gown. I?m okay with the gown, but her hair is too beautiful to do a center part, just my opinion. I?m also including photos of Maddie Hasson, another costar. And LEGS, obviously. I?m including photos of the legs. But you do you need some posh Dragonfly voice and lovely hands? Of course you do. Hiddles appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. Some clips!
