This week, the New York Times decided to rage-bait music fans for some reason. The NYT Magazine compiled a thankfully unranked list of ?the thirty greatest American songwriters alive.? Included on the list? Taylor Swift, who gave an on-camera interview to the magazine. Two notable things happened in the interview: Taylor revealed that she?s still super-close to Jack Antonoff, and Taylor took a swipe at her own snake-fam army for being obsessed with decoding her blind item songs. Girl!!
Taylor Swift may be prone to leaving Easter eggs for her fans, but she admits that fans can go to extreme places when trying to decipher her songs and that extensive decoding is still ?weird? for her. While sitting down with the New York Times for being featured on their 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters list released Tuesday, the singer-songwriter reflected on how the inspiration behind her songwriting has become an obsession for fans.
?There?s corners of my fanbase who are gonna take things to a really extreme place,? Swift said. ?There?s nothing I can do about that. There?s people who are gonna try to, like, do detective work, figure out the details ? who is that about? What is this??
?When it gets a little bit weird for me is when people act like it?s a paternity test,? she said. ?Like, ?This song?s about that person.? Because I?m like, ?That dude didn?t write the song, I did.? But that?s part of it,? she added.
Despite the intense analysis, Swift expressed the importance of abiding by her own ?perception? when writing the song.
?You have to hold tight to your perception of your art and your relationship with it, and then you kind of have to [mimes blowing it out] there it goes. Hope you like it. And if you don?t now, hope you do in five years, and if you never do, then I was doing it for me anyway.?
Swift also took the opportunity to address her friendship with Jack Antonoff and said, ?Jack Antonoff is a collaborator of mine and one of my best friends.? She also shared insight on their ?rant bridge,? calling it a ?stream of consciousness, endless pouring-out of emotion, intrusive thoughts, blended with metaphor, with discussion, with shouting.? She pointed to her 2014 song ?Out of the Woods,? 2019?s ?Cruel Summer,? and ?Is It Over Now?? from 2023 as examples.

There?s a lot I could say but I?ll hold my tongue for the most part, because I don?t want to cause a lot of arguments. No one can argue with a few of these statements though: her blind-item songs are almost overwhelmingly obvious. While she?s written a few songs which are true mysteries, the songs about her exes are barely blind items. Additionally, no one can argue with the fact that Taylor has spent years encouraging her fans and baiting her fans with Easter eggs and blind-items as well. She?s a master of engaging with her fans at that level, so to hear her speak so dismissively of the snake fam?s engagement with those games? it?s fascinating. I mean, she is 36 years old and about to get married. Maybe she legitimately wants to ?mature? as an artist and songwriter (The Life of a Showgirl begs to differ though).

Monday evening, George and Amal Clooney made a rare appearance in America. You have to remember, soon after George Clooney ratfked Joe Biden in 2024, George and Amal applied for French citizenship to go with their French estate, which George bought for Amal because she?s apparently not a huge fan of his Italian summer home in Como. Their family?s French citizenship came through last December and they seem fully based out of France now. Nothing quite like ratfking a sitting Democratic president, sh-t talking the sitting vice president, then escaping the country after enabling the reelection of a fascist madman.
So why did George and Amal deign to fly back to America? George was being honored at the Chaplin Award Gala in NYC. ?I?ll only show up for awards shows? is not some bold profile in courage, George. But I guess the real story is that Amal looks fantastic. She wore a vivid purple Balenciaga minidress which is super-flattering. She loves a ?leggy? look and she?s a big fan of Balenciaga?s minidresses and mullet dresses.
Recently, in a links post, I mused about whether Amal has had some cosmetic work and/or gotten her lips done. I?m still asking! The move to France might explain things too French cosmetic surgeons are ELITE. Several well-known celebrities (Gisele, Sharon Stone) go to France when they need some subtle cosmetic work. And that?s what this looks like too Amal didn?t get some crazy facelift, but she absolutely looks refreshed and ?well-rested.? She?s gotten a better hair stylist too.

It?s been a minute since Taylor Swift stepped out in New York and didn?t care about being pap?d. That?s what happened yesterday Taylor was out and about in New York with her dad and then, later in the day on Monday, she was out with friends too. There have been so many conspiracies about Taylor?s recent undercover era too, with many fans suggesting that Taylor is deep into wedding planning and she?s trying to keep her movements quiet so her wedding doesn?t turn into a circus. I sort of believe that too, and I believe that Taylor and Travis Kelce will have their wedding before his football preseason starts in August. Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the where and when of it all, but I suspect ?Rhode Island in June or July.?
As for these photos, Taylor spent the afternoon and evening at The Jane Hotel (for dinner) and then San Vicente West Village with Jerrod Carmichael, Jack Antonoff and Ashley Avignone. Her outfit is? fine. I actually like her sundress and the Dior purse, but I?m not sold on the shoes. I have a theory about this too I think Taylor is still sort of stuck in her Sex and the City fantasy and she thinks she can just throw together slightly random-yet-high-end looks and that makes her the New Carrie Bradshaw. Is she right?? The bag is the mini Lady Dior, which retails for $9,750 (insane). Her dress is from Staud, and it retails for $325. Her shoes are $1,195 Christian Louboutin. (Note by CB: Shutzs Olga leather sandals are a more affordable alternative at $198 and Old Navy has a Fit and Flare sleeveless midi dress thats similar to Taylors for just $25!)
The other Taylor news this week is that she?s filed trademarks on her voice and likeness, likely to protect herself and her music from all of this AI bullsh-t. Considering that Donald Trump has literally posted and amplified AI-generated images of Taylor Swift, I don?t blame her.

Earlier this week, Zoe Kravitz and Harry Styles were photographed in London, and Zoe appeared to be wearing a large diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger. Zoe and Harry have been dating for maybe a little less than a year, so the timing of the ?engagement rumors? makes sense, although I do wonder if Harry is ready to settle down. Well, it appears that Harry IS ready. Page Six ?exclusively confirms? that they are engaged:
Following internet-breaking images of Zo Kravitz sporting a ring on that finger, a source tells Page Six the ?High Fidelity? actress and pop superstar Harry Styles are engaged.
?He is completely smitten,? says the insider. ?He would jump off a cliff for her.?
Meanwhile, we?re told Kravitz ?is on cloud nine.?
?No one in their circle is surprised,? the source adds.
The pair first sparked engagement rumors over the weekend when Kravitz, 37, was photographed kissing Styles, 32, while wearing a sparkling bauble.

Kravitz and Styles were first linked in August 2025 when they were seen strolling around Rome arm-in-arm. That same month, they were spotted making out like teenagers in London. Last week, Reese Witherspoon caused a lot of consternation with a social media post. On Instagram, Reese wrote: ?I?ve decided it?s TIME. The AI revolution has begun, and I need to learn as much as I possibly can about AI and share it with all of you. Also, FYI: the jobs women hold are 3x more likely to be automated by AI, yet women are using AI at a rate 25% lower than men on average. We don?t want to be left behind. So?do you want to learn with me?? People were mad, mostly because this AI bullsh-t is idiotic 90% of the time and it?s absolutely making everyone dumber. Reese was seen as trying to promote ?girlboss AI? and many believed that her Instagram post was some kind of undercover AI spon-con. Well, Reese has heard all of the criticism and she responded:
Reese Witherspoon is responding to the criticism over her stance on artificial intelligence. On April 16, the Oscar winner posted an Instagram video in which she said she believes women should use AI in their daily lives. ?The AI revolution has begun, and I need to learn as much as I possibly can about AI and share it with all of you,? her Instagram caption read. Witherspoon, 50, received backlash, prompting her to address the critiques in her Instagram Stories on Monday, April 20.
?Well, I guess my Al post got people talking,? she wrote atop a selfie. ?To be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this. Im just a curious human.?
She remarked that her children ?are learning about AI tools.? She shares daughter Ava Phillippe, 26, and son Deacon Phillippe, 22, with her ex-husband,, Ryan Phillippe, as well as son Tennessee Toth, 13, with her ex Jim Toth.
?I know a lot of founders who are vibe coding, and I hear about people using Al in EVERY sector of business,? she wrote. As she continued, she shared how she wants to ?acknowledge? peoples concerns around AI use, which she said were valid.
?Im aware of the impact this could have on jobs across so many industries. I understand environmental concerns,? she wrote. The data centers used to power AI systems ?drive high energy, water, and e-waste demands,? which critics argue will have a serious environmental impact, according to MIT News.
Witherspoon continued, ?I care deeply about local communities. And I have concerns about impending AGI [Artificial General Intelligence].?
?I dont believe computers should replace humanity,? she added.
The Morning Show star then concluded by sharing her intention to learn ?as much as possible? and to be ?educated about this technological revolution.?

Regarding AI, my reflexive habit is scorn, anger and eye-rolling. Is this a wise plan of action long-term? Probably not. While I know AI is not a ?scam? in the same sense as NFTs or Labubus were a scam, AI?s defenders and promoters push AI like it?s a scam, like it?s the miracle cure to all of our problems, that everyone needs AI, that AI will revolutionize every industry! And it?s on us, the living and breathing humans, to dissect those claims and decide what our priorities actually are as a society. Reese?s bullsh-t last week felt like she was bandwagoning onto the latest snake-oil cure and I have no problem bashing her for it. And I guarantee that even if Reese isn?t currently being paid for pushing AI, she?s looking at dollar signs down the line.

Sandra Bullock appeared at CinemaCon last week to hype Practical Magic 2. This will be her first big promotional tour since 2022, which is when she was out and about for The Lost City (with Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe). In 2023, her partner Bryan Randall passed away after a battle with ALS. Sandy stopped working for several years, just focusing on healing and her children. A source recently told People Mag that: ?After everything she went through with Bryan, she needed time to care for herself. She spent a lot of time healing, being with her kids and being at home. She needed to ensure that she and her kids were in the best possible place for her to go back to work.? She did what she needed to do and she absolutely has the support of everyone in Hollywood. While she was away, a lot happened in Hollywood though, and Hollywood is still reckoning with all of this AI bullsh-t. Well, Sandra Bullock is apparently pro-AI. She spoke about it the CNBC Changemakers Summit:
Sandra Bullock appeared at the CNBC Changemakers Summit alongside Warner Bros. Pictures co-chair and CEO Pam Abdy and was asked about the intersection of Hollywood and AI. The Oscar winner said the industry needs to lean into it.
The topic of AI came up when moderator Julia Boorstin noted all the AI-generated fan trailers that have been circulating for ?Practical Magic 2,? which Bullock stars in and produces for Abdy?s Warner Bros. The movie is set to open in theaters this fall.
?I know it?s not great, but it?s also exciting, because that means that there?s a desire for it and that means that people want to come and play with the movie. And that?s exciting,? Abdy said about the AI trailers.
When asked if it?s ?weird? to see people using AI to recreate her image, Bullock quipped: ?Well, there could be worse [things] with my image!? She then said on a more serious note: ?But it?s here. We have to observe it. We have to understand it. We have to lean into it. We have to use it in a really constructive and creative way, make it our friend rather than ? I mean, we have to be incredibly cautious and aware of it because there are people who will use it for evil and not good. But I do feel that there?s a place for it? It?s here. We have to just be friends in some dark way.?

They?re comparing Bullock?s comments to Reese Witherspoon?s recent rah-rah-AI-girlboss comments. Reese?s comments came off as tone-deaf and likely part of some undercover spon-con or business opportunity for her. Sandra sounds more wary of AI. I also think that for someone like Sandra, who is 61 years old, she?s probably like ?hey, this isn?t my generation?s problem.? Like, let the youths figure out this fking AI mess. Between Sandra and Reese?s comments, some have suggested that some AI company possibly held a luncheon or some kind of investment presentation for Hollywood women. That seems very likely too.

The Timothee Chalamet lashings continue. It?s so funny. Last month, Chalamet did a bizarre CNN townhall where he and Matthew McConaughey pontificated about acting and art. At one point, Chalamet said: ?I don?t want to be working in ballet or opera where it?s like, ?Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.? All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership.? In the week before the Oscars, Chalamet was dragged to hell and back by ballet companies, opera communities, classical musicians and pretty much everyone else. Well, Charlize Theron decided to chime in. She was being interviewed by the NYT about her life, her family, her work and her past life as a would-be ballerina. That?s when Charlize unloaded on Timothee Chalamet.
NYT: What are the mental challenges of doing movies like [Apex]? Because it?s not just a physical game, it?s mental.
Theron: Dance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did. Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence.
NYT: Sorry, Timothe Chalamet.
Theron: Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day. That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time. But in 10 years, A.I. is going to be able to do Timothe?s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live. And we shouldn?t [expletive] on other art forms. Dance taught me discipline. It taught structure. It taught hard work. It taught me to be tough. It?s borderline abusive. There were several times that I had blood infections from blisters that just never healed. And you don?t get a day off. I?m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes. And that?s something that you have to practice every single day, the mind-set of just, you don?t give up, there?s no other option, you keep going.

Now that we?re a few weeks away from Timothee?s comments, it feels completely crazy that he actually said that in the first place. To completely disrespect and dismiss those two performative art forms, to say that no one cares about ballet or opera, and in essence suggesting that people who engage with ballet, dance or opera are wasting their time? Like, WTF was he thinking? Anyway, I would pay good money to watch Charlize body-slam Timmy. Make it into a movie!
BTW, Charlize?s NYT interview was really good and worth a read in its entirety. She spoke in great depth about the circumstances around her mother killing her father in South Africa when she (Charlize) was just a little girl. Her backstory really makes you understand why she is the way she is and the way she carries herself.

This week, the left-behind Windsors will mark Queen Elizabeth II?s centenary birthday, even though she passed away nearly four years ago. QEII remains the most popular royal, despite her passing, which is why the left-behinds are so desperate to cling to her memory and attach themselves to her in any way. Still, the QEII nostalgia will be over soon enough, and then it?s on to the next ?big thing? for the left-behinds what the hell are they going to do about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?
Prince Harry and possibly Meghan are due to visit the UK in July, for the Invictus Games One Year To Go events. Meghan?s presence is dependent on police protection, and I think everyone can now acknowledge that the UK security situation has been delayed for personal reasons on the Windsors? side. As in, King Charles, Prince William and their courtiers have worked behind the scenes to whine and cry about how the Sussexes shouldn?t be given security. No one in any of the royal courts wants to see a repeat of the Sussexes? Australian tour happening in London and Birmingham. Somewhat hilariously, it sounds like Prince William and Kate are already forming a plan for what they?ll do if and when Harry and Meghan visit the UK in July. Their big plan? LMAO, they?re going to hide.
Even six years on, with no change of heart, Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly still holding a grudge against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. According to a source, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may allegedly be planning a UK visit with their children, riding high after their Australia trip. But if that were to happen, dont expect the Prince and Princess of Wales to bury the hatchet, as they will be keeping their distance and steering clear of the media storm that seems to follow the Sussexes at every turn.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the insider revealed that if Harry and Markle were to make a trip to the UK next July for the Invictus Games, William and Catherine would have no hesitation in distancing themselves completely. They would much prefer to step out of the spotlight and literally go into hiding than risk being pulled into what they regard as avoidable tension and disruption. They added, There is a genuine concern that even a short visit from the Sussexes is like bringing a circus to town and will rapidly snowball into an intense media storm, which is exactly what the Waleses are trying to steer clear of.
Against that backdrop, William and Middleton allegedly wish to protect their three childrens privacy, rather than dragging them into a media firestorm. The source continued, For them, the overriding priority is protecting a sense of normality for their children and shielding their immediate family from further scrutiny or fallout, rather than engaging with a situation they believe could quickly spiral. While rumor mills have swirled that King Charles could invite the Sussexes to stay in Sandringham, that will not alter the Waleses alleged unforgiving stance on them, as a Palace aide clarified that the idea of reconciling with Harry and Markle is reportedly not on the table right now.

With Prince Harry?s various solo visits to the UK in recent years, William and Kate have tried two different methods of dealing with his presence. One method is the one described above, which is they disappear from public view completely and ?go into hiding? because they?re so mad about the attention Harry receives. The other method which is more common when they have advance knowledge of Harry?s movements and schedule is to counterprogram, to schedule some public appearances in the hopes of pulling focus away from him. Which never works, and it often makes Will and Kate look desperate and foolish. Of course, ?hiding whenever Harry comes to town? isn?t a much better option for the future king and queen consort they look like they?re too immature to handle ?healthy competition? for the press?s attention. Now, if the Sussexes get police protection and Meghan ends up coming with Harry? I have no idea how Will and Kate are going to handle it, honestly. I suspect that they?ll both have complete breakdowns.

In early June 2023, we learned that Natalie Portman?s then-husband Benjamin Millepied was a big-time cheater. Benjamin?s infidelity was outed by a French tabloid, and soon after, the American media picked up the story. Natalie tried to do damage control and she and Benjamin possibly tried to work on their marriage, but a few months later, they reportedly separated. Their divorce was SUPER quiet. Like, I don?t know how Natalie and her team kept everything so hush-hush, but everything was finalized by March 2024 and we still have no idea what the terms were. One year after that, Natalie was seen in Paris with a new guy, a musician named Tanguy Destable (I still have no idea how his name should be pronounced). Well, here?s an interesting update on Natalie?s personal life! She?s pregnant. At the age of 44. Tanguy is the father. She confirmed everything via a Harper?s Bazaar interview:
Natalie Portman is ?awed? to be welcoming a third child with her partner, the French music producer Tanguy Destable. The actor revealed the news exclusively to Harper?s Bazaar. ?Tanguy and I are very excited,? she says. ?I?m just very grateful. I know it?s such a privilege and a miracle.?
Portman, who is 44, is the child of a fertility doctor and has a keen awareness of the challenges and heartbreak that can accompany a fertility journey. ?I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant,? she says. ?I have so many people I love who?ve had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It?s such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it?s also not an easy thing.? She adds, ?And so I know how lucky it is. I?m very aware, and I?m very grateful. I have deep appreciation and gratitude.?
Gratitude is one of the feelings she notes she is experiencing more profoundly with this pregnancy. She has two children from her previous marriage to choreographer Benjamin Millepied: son Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, 9. ?There is a gratitude that when you?re young, you don?t necessarily grasp,? she says. ?And there?s a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day. And knowing it?s probably the last time, I cherish every moment.?
Physically, Portman says she is feeling great. ?I have more energy than I thought I might,? she says, noting that this pregnancy feels similar to her previous ones. She says she?s swimming and doing Gyrotonics to ?keep strong? and spending lots of time with her kids, ?which is always the best.?
?She?s enjoying being pregnant in Paris, where she has been based, on and off, for several years. ?There?s been beautiful spring weather,? she says, ?so it?s been pretty amazing to just walk in the incredible parks here and go see art. She also jokes, ?In France, they consider full-term to be 41 weeks rather than 40, so I guess I get an extra week to be pregnant this time around.?
I ask if Portman succumbs at all to the onslaught of information hurled at new mothers digitally across social media. ?I?m not really looking at social media that much,? she says. ?I think maybe just having done it twice before? I read so many books the first time, and now I?m like, ?Oh, we know what to do.? It?s okay. You figure it out. We?re going to make lots of mistakes, no matter how hard we try. And also, we?re going to do a lot right without having to do research. I feel like if you?re just present and loving, that?s the best thing possible.?
And, no, there are no strange pregnancy cravings. Just fruit, says Portman, especially pineapple and melon.

Recently, I covered Claire Danes? excellent interview on the Good Hang podcast, where Claire gave some backstory about accidentally getting pregnant with her daughter at the age of 43. This Portman situation reminds me of that Claire said she was freaking out and in convulsive tears, but soon afterwards, she was just sort of zen about it. That was Claire?s third child as well! There?s something in the air. No, it?s a well-known phenomenon many women get a fertility spike in their early-40s or mid-40s and get pregnant naturally, often accidentally. It sounds like Natalie found out she was pregnant and just decided ?what the hell, sure? and rolled with the punches. Good luck to her and whatshisface. Good for her.

In May 2024, Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless were on tour with AC/DC when, at a stop in Sevilla, Spain, a random bat bit Taylor?s leg. No joke, she was in the middle of performing a song called ?Witches Burn.? Two years later, the bands are still rocking together on AC/DC?s PWR Up Tour? and Taylor just got bit by a poisonous spider. To quote Taylor herself, WTF?!! Unlike the bat, this spider was too discreet to do the deed onstage, preferring the comparatively intimate setting of backstage at a concert. This happened last week, as Taylor shared on her Instagram in a video showing the team of doctors tending to the bite and giving her what seemed to be an uncomfortably long shot. A few days after that, though, a rash stemming from the bite bloomed up her leg, and she had to go to the hospital:

Amid traveling with AC/DC for the Power Up tour, the Gossip Girl alum was hospitalized for a poisonous spider bite almost exactly two years after she was bitten by a bat mid-concert.
?Hospital today, show tomorrow,? Taylor wrote in an April 14 Instagram post, alongside a look at the gnarly bite, that was accompanied with a rash that went up her calf. ?Poisonous spiders are NO BUENO but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City!?
And when one fan pointed out Taylor?s prior bat bite, she chimed back, ?I know. WTF.?
The initial bite occurred nearly a week ago, and Taylor noted that a ?massive spider? decided to ?take a chunk out of? her leg. And while the 32-year-old said the spider?s venom ?did a number? on her system, she maintained good spirits otherwise.
?It wouldn?t be an AC/DC tour if I didn?t get bit,? she joked in an April 9 post. ?Add it to the list! Spider woman? Batgirl??
Indeed, it was nearly two years ago when The Pretty Reckless singer was accosted by a bat while performing on stage in Spain.
?There?s a f?king flying bat on my leg right now,? Taylor said into the microphone in videos taken from the May 2024 concert. ?Can someone help me please??
Once the bat was removed from her leg, though, she was able to continue with the show.
?Gracias!? Taylor told the stage hand who helped her remove the animal. ?It?s alright. And the bat?s fine. He?s gonna be my new friend.?
Unfortunately, the bat wasn?t totally friendly.
?He was cute, but yes he bit me,? Taylor wrote in a follow up since-deleted Instagram post, ?so rabies shots for the next two weeks.?
Despite the medical setback, Taylor assured she felt the bite was a total ?ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT? and even earned a new nickname for the ordeal.
?Thanks to all the staff at the hospital who dubbed me #batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning,? she continued. ?That?s one for the books!!!!?

While Taylor originally said, ?Hospital today, show tomorrow,? she later amended that in a follow up post that said, ?Or I just spend the night in the hospital?? Yikes, Taylor! She keeps posting about the ordeal ? with remarkably good humor! ? so you can obviously see how much worse the rash got, and why she had to spend the night at the hospital. Instead of the typical splotchiness of a rash, by nighttime it was a solid red, swollen blob roughly the size of a small country, and the doctors had outlined the area with marker (which I know from watching The Pitt means it was serious). But Taylor is a trooper, and the overnight stay at the hospital ensured that the show could go on the next day. I really hope the worst is over for her.
Given Taylor?s wry captions to her posts, I don?t think she?d be offended by my marveling that the two most goth of all animals were somehow intrinsically attracted to her. It?s like they just knew, SHE?S THE ONE TO BITE! Is it like the way mosquitos go after certain people? (Hi, it?s me, I?m mosquitos? people.) Oh, and speaking of goth, Taylor rocks the heavy black eye makeup so well, but one of her hospital pics is of her bare-faced and oh my word ? her eyes are stunning au natural!
