Melanie Lynskey?s career has been on fire the last few years, with Emmy nominated turns in Yellowjackets (about to start filming season 3) and The Last of Us. She?s worked consistently for 30 years, and she?s always been good, but it?s nice to see her getting meatier roles and recognition these days. It?s as if women (and their stories) get even more complicated and compelling as we get older, huh. Melanie was just on The Tonight Show to promote another series, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, and she recounted to Jimmy Fallon a hilarious story of how her husband Jason Ritter proposed. He was so low key and confusing, she didn?t even realize it was a proposal until he told his family days later that they were engaged. You have to be pretty damn low key to out-low key a New Zealander!
The way Jason Ritter proposed to Melanie Lynskey was so low-key that she didn?t even know he was proposing.
While appearing on The Tonight Show on Monday, Lynskey shared with host Jimmy Fallon that Ritter had to redo their engagement because his first one was ?so confusing.?
?The day before, I had been looking at rings, and I tried one on,? she recalled. ?I was like, ?Oh, it kind of looks like an engagement ring, almost. I don?t think I?m going to get it.??
Ritter then got her the ring and when he gave it to her, Lynskey thanked him for it, thinking it was just a considerate gift. ?It didn?t sort of cross my mind [that it was a proposal],? she told Fallon.
?And then there was this strange speech,? Lynskey continued. ?We were just sort of sitting there. He had paused whatever [was on TV], The Bachelor. And I was just sort of like, ?Oh, OK.??
She then explained that the proposal was so confusing she actually asked Ritter if they were breaking up. ?He was like, ?No, no, no.? So I said, ?OK,? and then I was like, ?Well, thank you. Lovely. Good chat???
While Lynskey didn?t know what was going on, Ritter was certain she had accepted his proposal. ?Then, three days later, we went to meet his family for Christmas, and he said, ?We?re engaged.??
Since the engagement mishap, Lynskey said Ritter has been making up for it by proposing ?over and over.? A recent re-proposal was on her birthday in Slovakia ? with a new ring, as well. Their child even got to be part of it. ?He was going to take me out for dinner and do it at dinner, but our daughter was like, ?Give her the ring, Dad!?? said the actress.
Ritter and Lynskey met while filming The Big Ask in 2013 and started dating that year. The pair announced their engagement in 2017 and married in 2020, nearly two years after the birth of their daughter.

Oh man, I?m dying to know what he said exactly in that proposal attempt. It sounds awkward and confusing and prolonged and that?s totally my jam as an audience member. I would?ve thought Melanie?s asking if they were breaking up would be Jason?s cue to state, in no uncertain terms, how he was aiming for the polar opposite of that. But I guess nerves can always get the better of us. Melanie and Jason are stupidly adorable together. In the past he?s shared how he thought Melanie was incredible from the get go, so much so that it spurred him on to continue working on himself, to be the kind of partner he thought she deserved. And Melanie, for her part, has been singing Jason?s praises for sacrificing his career by staying at home with their daughter so she can go do all these amazing roles. You know, what women have been doing for men for centuries.

The Windsors are actually in a somewhat difficult position at the moment with Prince Harry, the Invictus Games and their relationship with British and Commonwealth veterans. The Windsors have this ridiculous narrative that they alone are ?serving? and that the military and veterans? community ?needs? them to wander around in their fake medals and Muammar Gaddafi cosplay. The fact that Harry doesn?t actually need a uniform to have the respect of veterans is shocking to them. They?re still in shock that Harry created Invictus, a global ?warrior games? with respect and funding from the international community. Which is why the Windsors have been clout-chasing Harry and Invictus for years, even attempting to take credit for Invictus or claim some kind of ownership over it.
Now the British government is throwing everything they can to try to win the bid for the 2027 games. The smart move, for the Windsors, would be sending their warmest congratulations to Harry and the Invictus community on the tenth anniversary Invictus service next week. The smart move would be King Charles sending some royal delegates to the service in his place, perhaps some of Harry?s favorite cousins, perhaps his aunt Princess Anne. Someone who can create a visual link between the Windsors, Harry and Invictus. Alas, the Windsors are too fking stupid to do that. According to Page Six?s sources, Harry even invited his family to next week?s service, but they?re too bitter and dumb to respond.
Prince Harry is attempting to mend fences with his family ? and has invited them all to the Invictus Games 10-year celebration ceremony in London, multiple sources tell Page Six. However, no senior members of the royal family are expected at the event at St Paul?s Cathedral on Wednesday.
His sister-in-law Kate Middleton is currently undergoing cancer treatment away from the public eye, and Harry remains estranged from his older brother, Prince William.
As Page Six previously revealed, Harry, 39, has not spoken to his brother, 41, for more than a year in the wake of his bombshell memoir, ?Spare.? A well-placed London socialite who knows the brothers confirmed that Harry had invited William ? as well as other members of the royal family ? to the event to honor the veterans charity he founded.

My guess is that we?re supposed to think ?poor naive Harry, still trying to build bridges with his dogsh-t family.? But Harry is strategic and much smarter than people believe. Sure, it was a magnanimous gesture, to invite his family (if that?s what he did). But he probably invited them knowing that they would turn him down. And he can look around and say ?hey, I tried, they?re just not going to change.? And that?s what he?ll say to the committee debating whether the games should go to Birmingham as well: ?The service was a dry run to see how it would go, the Windsors still suck, the press was unhinged and my security situation was still god-awful. The Games should go to DC.?

It looks like Britney Spears and her team and clearing away all of her outstanding legal issues this week. Just days after Britney reached a settlement with her father over a financial dispute, Britney has now settled her divorce from Sam Asghari. Sam filed for divorce last August, in what was a pretty sudden split. He moved out of her house and there was a stream of awful stories about Britney, all leaked to TMZ. Reportedly, Britney cheated on Sam and physically assaulted him and he had enough. The leaks to TMZ were likely some kind of play on Sam?s part, given that he signed a strict prenup and was likely angling for a generous out-of-court settlement with an NDA attached. That?s probably what he got.
Britney Spears has settled her divorce with Sam Asghari this nearly a year after Sam filed to pull the plug TMZ has learned. Britney and Sam filed a Stipulated Judgment, obtained by TMZ, along with her response to Sams divorce petition, filed by her lawyer, disso queen Laura Wasser. The judge should sign off soon, and when that happens the marriage will official be history.
As we reported, Britney and Sam have a prenup, which essentially leaves Sam with nothing. TMZ broke the story, Britney has paid Sams rent at his new place. Although we reported earlier the plan was for her to cut him a 6-figure check, we dont know if that happened.
Sam filed back in August 14 months after they tied the knot at her Thousand Oaks home citing irreconcilable differences. There were rumblings from Sams lawyer, Neal Hersh, that the fitness trainer would contest the prenup, but that didnt materialize.
As for why the marriage fizzled, sources told us Sam believed Britney cheated on him with a staff member at her house saying theres footage out there of them in a compromising position. We were also told Britney had gotten physical with Sam during their time together and one time, Brit flipped out and started punching him while he was in his bed. Around the same time as this alleged incident, Sam was spotted with a black eye and bite marks on his arm.

Yeah, the fact that TMZ doesn?t have Sam?s side of the divorce story kind of tells me that Britney DID cut him a check and that he likely signed an NDA weeks/months ago. That is the most reasonable explanation and I also think it?s the best option for both Britney and Sam. While their marriage was brief, Sam and Britney were together for years and he truly helped her shake off her abusive conservatorship and get the kind of legal help she desperately needed. I hope he got some money to start the next phase of his life.

?She?s so insane for this? and it?s just Anya Taylor Joy wearing couture. Here are some photos from Sydney, Australia premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. This film a sort of prequel to George Miller?s Mad Max: Fury Road will be in theaters on May 24. They?re hoping for another summer blockbuster, just like Fury Road. I?m not sure if this film will do the same kind of numbers, and the trailer is kind of all over the place, but we?ll see. I?m still sort of mad that Charlize Theron wasnt allowed the option of coming back. She had a bad experience working with Tom Hardy, but she loved working with Miller.
As for the premiere, it?s funny that Anya, who plays Furiosa, wore a literal man-repeller dress. Her costar Chris Hemsworth couldn?t even do the traditional arm-in-arm premiere pose with her. Anya?s dress is Paco Rabanne Couture and it?s supposed to look like she?s been stuck with arrows. It?s very cool a very editorial look, so it?s fascinating to see this on a carpet. I don?t imagine she?s able to sit down.
Chris Hemsworth attended the premiere with his wife. I sort of miss Elsa Pataky?s need for attention, but whatever she sounds pretty happy with the lowkey family life they have in Australia.

Us Weekly?s cover story this week is all about Prince William?s jealousy of his younger brother Prince Harry. Harry has Invictus, Harry has freedom, Harry has a mansion in Montecito, Harry has a beautiful wife, Harry has respect as a global statesman, Harry has passions and interests, Harry stands up to the British press, Harry served in war, and Harry has a position with African Parks as well! I could keep going, but you get the idea. Harry is cool, Huevo is a pretender. William seethes with jealousy and rage while Harry just lives his life. Well, Us Weekly released more of their cover story and their sources claim that William and Kate have now changed their minds on never, ever speaking to the Sussexes again. Nowadays, the Waleses are both keen peacemakers.
Prince Harry and Prince William are barely on speaking terms, but Harry?s upcoming U.K. visit could change that. Harry, 39, is set to return to the U.K. in early May to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. While William, 41, resides in England, their possible reunion is still up in the air, a source exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly.
The brothers ?haven?t had a real conversation in months,? the insider says, noting that Harry?s time in town could serve as an olive branch. ?The brothers haven?t spoken [but] there is potential for that. [Harry] would be more than happy [to],? a second source tells Us, revealing that Harry has attempted to contact his family and invite them to the Invictus Games.
The first insider notes that both Harry and William ?are open? to seeing each other after years of tension stemming from Harry?s royal step back in 2020.
Now that Princess Kate Middleton is battling cancer (which she confirmed in March), the ice seems to be melting between both royal couples. Kate is ?willing? to talk to Harry while he?s in town, the first source tells Us, adding that the princess is ?done with all the bad blood.?
Since Kate?s diagnosis, which came after she underwent a successful abdominal surgery in January, both the Prince and Princess of Wales are ready to call a truce.
?They want a relationship with Meghan and Harry, and they don?t want the acrimony to carry over to the next generation,? the insider says, explaining that Kate and William want their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 6, to have a connection with Harry?s children. The source notes that ?they want to mend fences with them for the kids? sake,? with the second insider agreeing that Harry and Meghan feel the same way.
?Obviously the duke and duchess want their kids to have a relationship with their cousins,? per the source.
King Charles III, who is also battling an undisclosed type of cancer, is ready for his sons to make up and is ?eager to spend more time with his grandchildren,? the first insider tells Us. Charles, 75, has ?always wanted William and Harry to make amends,? a third source claims. The first insider concurs, adding, ?Charles very much hopes that his sons will finally heal their rift.?

From a purely PR perspective, this is how William and Kate should have positioned themselves the while fking time. They are the future king and queen they should have positioned themselves as the magnanimous and mature future-monarchs eager to make peace with ?wayward? Harry and Meghan. The fact that it?s been over four years and they consistently position themselves as too angry, childish, immature, undiplomatic and racist to make peace is more than a choice, it?s simply the real situation. The Waleses can?t hide or contain their pettiness, rage and jealousy over all things Sussex. Anyway, I hope the Sussexes continue to grey-rock Huevo in particular!

A couple of weeks ago, I watched/skimmed The Sun?s new YouTube show, Royal Exclusive, which is hosted by their royal editor Matt Wilkinson. In the show two weeks ago, Wilkinson and Ingrid Seward pontificated on the state of various royal marriages, desperately trying to convince their audience that Prince William and Kate have an incredibly strong marriage, as do Prince Edward and Sophie, and yet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?s visible, obvious love for each other was somehow suspect and ?bad.? Because, you see, Harry has an ?obsessive love? for Meghan and ?he?ll never leave her? (despite the enormous efforts from the British media and the Windsors). It ended up being sort of fascinating to watch, in real time, how the royalists believe that they can somehow put a glitter and a bow on some really tragic marriages. Speaking of, they?re at it again.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are celebrating 13 years of marriage today and their ?marriage seems better than ever?, claims a royal editor. Speaking on The Sun?s Royal Exclusive show, Richard Palmer insists that he?s witnessed Prince William and Kate Middleton up close and their close bond is evident.
He said to The Sun?s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson: ?I read stuff online about the state of their marriage and I just dont recognise it at all. Im talking mainly about social media and some of the lunatics on social media.
?Because whenever Ive seen them up close I mean, its very difficult to know what goes on in anybodys marriage, whether theyre public figures or close friends or whatever, things go on behind closed doors but everything Ive seen of that couple suggests to me that they are really close. The body language, everything, you can just tell that they, I think anyway, that theyre really into each other and the marriage has worked. Theres a meeting of minds there.?
Unfair opinions about the couples marriage have spread on social media following Kates edited Mothers Day picture. One conspiracy theory spreading was that the couple had split with Kate not wearing her wedding ring in the edited photo. However, Kate doesnt always wear her engagement ring the iconic diamond and sapphire band once worn by Princess Diana.

You-know-who is doing appearances on Royal Exclusive because he?s out of a job. Slimmed-down monarchy means a slimmed-down royal rota, apparently. The rota screwed themselves out of a job they had a front-row seat to the grotesque royal shenanigans of the past decade, and instead of using those positions to report on the honest state of things, they acted as PR for a dying institution in its endgame. As for the strength of the Wales marriage? even if we?re talking about the absolute clownshow of this year, Will and Kate spent all of 2023 looking very much separated. William was promoting himself as a hot single guy who is ?increasingly happy to go solo.? William looked disgusted when Kate tried to grope his ass again at the Scottish coronation too.

Today is Princess Charlotte?s ninth birthday. Probably the Princess of Wales?s easiest labor/delivery too, I still remember how bonkers it was that Kate gave birth to Charlotte and was up and out of the hospital in a flash, but not before she posed glowingly on the steps of the hospital with her baby girl. Happy b-day to Charlotte, I hope she and the other Wales children are doing well.
Now for the weird energy that comes with everything around the Wales family these days. Since the Mother?s Day frankenphoto fiasco, Kensington Palace has now opted to NOT release their family photos to media agencies (like Reuters, Getty, AFP) or the British press in advance. Instead, they?re just going to release photos via their own social media, with everyone getting the photos at the same time. It still feels like KP is leaving itself open to credible claims of photo manipulation, but at the moment, the critical media agencies aren?t saying much.
KP waited until around 5:20 am EST to release this ?new? portrait of Charlotte. That would make it around 11:20 am in England. The Daily Mail?s top royal story, before the release of this photo, was ?Kate Middleton breaks tradition again on Princess Charlottes birthday just a week after being late to share a new photo of Prince Louis.? A whole story devoted to how KATE needed to make haste and release a new Charlotte photo. The Telegraph?s coverage is mostly flat, basic reporting, but they mention the Mother?s Day photo fiasco and note that it appears as if Charlotte is wearing the same cardigan in her birthday photo and the Mother?s Day frankenphoto.
The vibe from this photo and Louis?s birthday photo last week is that these pics are all from the same photoshoot? a photoshoot which likely took place months ago. Still, Kensington Palace has briefed the rota that Kate took this photo in the last few days. Sure.

A few days ago, Kim Kardashian made a dramatic hair change. She went back to ?icy blonde? and cut her hair/took out her extensions. The new hair color does nothing for her, but the point is that something happened recently which made Kim decide to give herself a big makeover. We?ve just learned what that something is she and Odell Beckham Jr. apparently ?fizzled out.? Kim did a ?breakup blonde? makeover. I barely remembered that Kim and Odell were together, and they mostly avoided being photographed together. They were seen on Oscar night, after the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Kim also attended his blowout birthday party last fall. So they were dating (or whatever) for about seven months.

It?s over and just fizzled out, a source tells PEOPLE of the pair, who were first linked in September 2023.
The split comes after the SKIMS founder, 43, and the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, 31, were spotted exiting the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party together in March. At the time, a source told PEOPLE that they were ?hanging out pretty much all night once he got there.
There wasnt a ton of PDA like some of the other couples, but there was a lot of touching, and they were right near each other the entire time,? the insider added. ?They were careful about not being too all over each other, but there was lots of chemistry, and they left together.?

TMZ got the breakup confirmation at the same time as People Mag thank you, Kris Jenner. TMZ?s sources say that Kim and Odell have just phased into a friendship and there?s no bad blood (ha). They still respect each other, no one?s bad-mouthing anyone. Which sounds fine Odell was seen out with another woman a few weeks ago, so maybe that was it. Or maybe they were never super-exclusive in the first place. Kim making sure that everyone knows she?s single ahead of the Met Gala is so funny. Is she going to try to find a new boyfriend there?

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt?s new movie, The Fall Guy is out in theaters on Friday, May 3. I?m really looking forward to seeing this movie! It looks like so much fun. As you know, Ryan is fresh off of his amazing Oscars performance of ?I?m Just Ken,? as well as an endearing, hilarious stint hosting SNL. The biggest sketch of the night was a skit was called ?Town Hall,? which featured Heidi Gardner as NewsNation host Bobbi Moore interviewing Keenan Thompson?s professor character about AI. Mikey Day and Ryan play two attendees who just so happen to look like Beavis and Butthead. The sketch went viral because of Heidi?s reaction to seeing Day in full Beavis costume and facial prosthetics.
I think by now, it?s pretty clear that Ryan is The One to commit to a bit, lol. He has apparently stepped out of his Ken Era and entered his Butthead Era. After walking the red carpet in a mint-green Gucci suit, Ryan changed back into his SNL Butthead costume and walked the red carpet a second time with Day, who was dressed in his Beavis garb. They posed for pictures and did interviews in character as regular guys Jeff (Day) and Dean (Gosling).
It appears Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day reprised their iconic Beavis and Butt-Head characters sooner than fans were likely expecting. The actor was joined by the Saturday Night Live star on Tuesday night at the Los Angeles premiere of Gosling?s latest movie, The Fall Guy. After the Barbie star initially walked the red carpet in a mint-green Gucci suit with his co-star Emily Blunt, Gosling later returned ? only this time looking a bit different.
Gosling and Day posed for photos as their live-action depictions of Beavis and Butt-Head, the main characters from the hit ?90s adult animated series. Gosling was seen with a blonde wig and blue shirt with words that read, ?Death Rock,? and Day had on a gray shirt with the word, ?Skull.?
The duo first debuted the characters during a sketch on SNL on April 13, when the La La Land actor was hosting the sketch comedy show for the third time. The skit instantly became a hit among fans, garnering more than 13 million views on YouTube alone.
In the original sketch, SNL castmember Heidi Gardner played a news anchor interviewing a professor (Kenan Thompson) on the dangers of artificial intelligence. But Thompson?s character had trouble focusing on their conversation because he kept getting distracted by two audience members, Dean (Gosling) and Jeff (Day), who had a striking resemblance to the ?90s cartoon characters. However, Jeff and Dean insisted they didn?t know they looked similar to Beavis and Butt-Head, respectively.
During the skit, when Gardner first turned around to address Gosling, and then Day, she completely broke character, making for an even more memorable moment. The Nice Guys actor also struggled to hold his laughter throughout the sketch.

This is so freaking funny. At one point, Ryan and Mikey crashed an interview that Emily was giving. She played along so well that she had to have known what they were going to do. I wonder whose idea it was and why they ended up doing it. I love how while Ryan is serious about his acting work, he does not take himself seriously at all. It must make doing all of these PR events so much more fun to switch it up with a funny gag. You know Ryan Reynolds is watching all of this and plotting what he can get away with doing at this summer?s Deadpool & Wolverine premiere.
As far as the fashion goes, Kaiser posted about Emily?s sparkly orange Armani dress yesterday. I know the color is controversial, but I really liked the dress! I also really loved Ryan?s original mint-green Gucci suit. It fit him so well and he looked soooo good in it. Co-star Hannah Waddingham was also there in a tailored sky blue Alex Perry suit with matching Louboutins. She looked exquisite as always. I?m someone who favors brightly colored clothing, so I was particularly excited to see how colorful the movie?s three stars were dressed. We need more bright, happy colors this season.
