Saturday night was the opening gala for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in LA. They got a better A-list turnout than this year?s Emmys and Oscars combined. And yes, everyone was vaxxed and Covid-tested! Since it was a night of Hollywood types celebrating themselves and the history of Hollywood, the fashion was great! This definitely counts as ?early Oscar campaigning? too, especially since a lot of the attendees will likely be up for Oscars next year. Nicole Kidman wore this Rodarte which really stood out. I like the tea-length although I definitely think the bottom hem could be cleaner. And it feels very? Halloween? It?s the orange-and-black combo. I?m okay with her curly hair this is the texture of her natural hair before she fried it and dyed it blonde for years. I suspect this is either a wig or she?s getting significant help from a weave.
Meg Ryan wore Ulyana Sergeenko. The dress is fine, the hair needs a significant update though. I also think she?s stopped messing with her face as much as she used to, and that?s a welcome relief.
Marlee Matlin in Armani. Black velvet feels so wintery to me and I?m not sure we?re there yet! She looks nice but I wish the neckline was just a tad lower. Still, it gives off a vintage flapper kind of vibe, which fits with the event.
Camila Moronne in Louis Vuitton. This is awful for the event! She looks like she?s going to an album release party. At least wear full-length pants for the love of God.

Almost one year ago exactly, Meg Ryan confirmed that she and John Mellencamp had gotten engaged. They had been on-and-off since 2011 when they were ?on,? they were always doing loved-up pap strolls in New York and Rome. When they were off, Mellencamp would date other women, like Christie Brinkley. Meg always took him back. But it looks like they?re back off! One whole year of being engaged with no wedding planning or wedding and they?re over. Again.
Not a match. Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp have split after eight years together, Us Weekly exclusively confirms in the new issue.
?She?d had enough and ended [their engagement],? a source reveals. ?She has no regrets.?
Rumors began swirling about the on-off couple?s separation when Ryan, 57, was spotted out in Los Angeles without her engagement ring. The actress announced her engagement to the singer, 68, in November 2018. ?ENGAGED!? she captioned an illustration of the pair on Instagram at the time. Ryan and Mellencamp were first linked in 2011. They broke up in 2014 before reconciling later that year, only to call it quits again in 2015 and reunite once more in 2017.
[From Us Weekly]
I wonder about so much of this. Part of me thinks that they truly love each other but they just fundamentally disagree about ?what?s next.? My guess is that Meg would sort of like to get married but he sort of doesn?t want that. And so they go through these break-up and makeup cycles. Do you think this will be the final split? Probably not.
Here are some photos of Meg at the Governors Awards last weekend she wasn?t wearing her engagement ring.

Ive always liked Meg Ryan. I cant tell you how many times Ive seen When Harry Met Sally and I adored Prelude to a Kiss. I spent a lot of my college years watching her on the big screen. Shes 56, and while she may have gotten a bit over enthusiastic with the fillers and surgery and such, she looks great now. I like Meg so much that I will give her the barest sliver of a pass for showing up at Gwyneth Paltrows In Goop Health (ugh) event over the weekend. If stars keep showing up for Goop, its just going to encourage her, but I digress.
During a one-on-one Q&A at the event, Meg opened up to her former co-star (they starred together in 1993s Flesh and Bone). She talked about her career, her family and being labeled Americas Sweetheart. When discussing that label, Meg shared:
You?re either intelligent or sexual or maternal, and I really feel like we?re at a time where those borders are coming down, and it?s coming with a lot of cultural upheaval in a way. In a certain respect, everyone in the culture is very comfortable with you in one archetype.
For the most part, I had a lot of fun. I never wanted to be an actress. The whole idea of being a famous personI felt like a witness to, I didn?t feel exactly in it, and I think that was a really good thing. I felt like a student of it in a way, or that I was watching it in an anthropological way.
When you?re a famous person, there?s a certain degree of blankness that needs to happen so that people can project on you. Despite what you may think, people don?t really want to know all that much about you. They want to imagine the best or the worst. So when you?re caught in that, it really is interesting because you get reactions that have almost nothing to do with you and some that have everything to do with you, and you have to be this jiu-jitsu master to figure out what mirror you should actually be looking in.
Life is subtle, people are complex, and the world is obviously complex, and tabloid journalism and headlines, those are not. Tweets, those are not. When you get labeled anything like America?s Sweetheart, I didn?t even know what that meant. Nora Ephron?s parents wrote scripts in old Hollywood and there was such a thing as America?s Sweetheart in the 40s and she decided to say that about me one day and I remember thinking, Is that good?
After a string of popular movies, Meg stepped away from the spotlight. She admitted that she felt she was going through ?a really reactive time, adding that was kind of why I stepped away about 10 years ago.? She went on to add:
I didnt really aim to be an actor, I was a journalism major at school, and a curious person, and I wanted to go back out into the world and figure out who I was?am?in relationship to other things and other people and other environments.
[Quotes via E! News]
I hope that this means that Meg is pondering a comeback. I have missed her. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and shes keeping her personal life on the down low, raising her 13-year-old daughter Daisy Ryan and still dating John Mellencamp. Look at some of the recent project featuring strong, smart women who arent in their late 20s/early 30s. I think the time is ripe for Megs return to the big screen.

Talk about keeping things on the down-low. Actress Meg Ryan and singer John Mellencamp are an item once again, in fact, they?ve been dating for months. 55-year-old Meg and 65-year-old John got the internet buzzing when they began dating back in 2010. They dated for over three years until the trials and tribulations of maintaining a long distance relationship took their toll and they parted ways. In October of 2014 they reconciled, only to part ways again in June of 2015.
John went on to date former supermodel Christie Brinkley, who obviously has a ?thing? for musicians. And just like her union with Billy Joel, it was not destined to survive. They dated from September of 2015 to August of last year, with Christie parting ways with John because of his ?hellbent political opinions and his redneck ways.? In other words, Jack and Diane they were not.
Back in March, during an interview with Howard Stern, John said that Meg ?hates me to death.? He went on to offer the following reason why: “I think it’s because I’m a child. I throw fits. I gripe. I complain. I’m moody. Every bad thing that a fella can be, that’s me.?
Well, I guess Meg likes her men moody. A source tells Us Magazine that Meg and John reignited their relationship a few months ago. They reportedly spent a weekend together back in May in Martha?s Vineyard with Meg and her son Jack. And, just this past week, they were spotted strolling the streets of New York City together, grabbing a frozen yogurt on Wednesday – and nothing says love like delicious fro-yo. A source told PEOPLE Magazine that the reconciled couple ?have a bond.?
I reacted to this development with a hearty ?meh.? I mean, they make a nice looking couple and I think they are probably pretty down-to-earth kind of people. I do like how they?ve managed to keep their private lives private and not broadcast their love all over social media. Hell, Meg?s been off my radar for so long, I sometimes forget that she doesn?t look like this anymore. It?s quite refreshing, actually. Good on you both.

Meg Ryan accompanied designer Christian Siriano to the CFDA Awards and the photos of them together are just so cute! I do wonder what’s going on with his hair, it’s like he’s channeling Edna from The Incredibles, but he’s happy and see,s proud of this gown, which he should be. It fits Meg like a glove, it’s an amazing pearl white and it shimmers beautifully. It’s a very classic cut and design and flatters her figure so well. Also, her face looks like it’s settled somewhat. (I know that sounds bad but I can’t help but notice.)

Meg has a little script tattoo under her left arm that says “Life is Short.” It’s not bad and is tasteful. Here’s a closer look in a paparazzi photo from last week, the photo agency WENN pointed it out.
Brooke Shields was in a voluminous Sachin & Babi gown with a very high slit, deep v neck and a giant floral pattern. I really like this bold gown, it looks perfect for the event. From some angles I thought the skirt might be pants, but there’s a photo of her kicking her leg out to show that she has pants on underneath.

Olivia Munn was ridiculous in floral Tanya Taylor with ruffles and cut out sides. She often looks ridiculous though, and this might be cute on someone else. Check out her red platform shoes. They’re not a bad choice for this dress I guess.

Here’s Heidi Klum in Zac Posen, whose designs are hit or miss. This is a miss. I’m ending with Heidi as a contrast to Meg, who looked amazing and classy. This dress is too low cut, it looks cheap and she’s in need of some pasties. I would bet that Heidi had a hand in designing this, it’s a typical red carpet gown for her. Of course she’s wearing a belly chain.
Having so much fun at the #CFDAAwards with @ZacPosen! We know how to have a good time ? @CFDA

| Meg Ryan screens her directorial debut at Geena Davis' film festival | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

That ^^ is Meg Ryan looking gorgeous during Paris fashion week. Meg has largely scaled back her movie career since her It Girl status in the 80s and 90s. Further reinventing herself, Meg directed her first film, Ithaca, which just screened at Geena Davis? Bentonville Film Festival last Friday. In addition to directing the film, Meg stars as Mrs. Macauley alongside repeat co-star Tom Hanks, her son Jack Quaid and Sam Shepard.
After starring in nearly 40 movies, Meg Ryan recently added a new title to her rsum: director.
?It?s given me a place at the table,? the 54-year-old said to an audience Friday night at Geena Davis? Bentonville Film Festival after a screening of her directorial debut, Ithaca. ?It was a very hard thing to do and I can?t believe I did it, honestly.?
In the movie based on William Saroyan?s 1943 novel, The Human Comedy, Ryan also stars as Mrs. Macauley, a widowed mother of four children. (Tom Hanks, her Joe Versus the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, and You?ve Got Mail costar portrays her husband.) When her oldest son ? played by Ryan?s real-life son, Jack Quaid ? goes off to fight in WWII, leaving behind she and three younger siblings, it?s her 14-year-old son, Homer (Alex Neustaedter), who becomes the man of the family. Going to work as a bicycle telegraph messenger, he ?delivers messages of love, hope, pain and death to the good people of Ithaca, but soon must grapple with a message that will change him forever,? according to the movie?s description.
?I love that what [Homer] wanted was this impossible thing, to keep everyone he loved safe,? she explained, ?[to] keep the Angel of Death away from Ithaca. I thought that was such a dear and very emotional through-line and motivation for a protagonist.?
Ryan also found the story?s value-of-innocence theme applying to her own life. ?When I read it I was getting divorced at the time,? she reveals. ?So [I had] that feeling of, how do you keep your kids safe? The world is harsh, you know? Some lessons are going to be too hard. And I felt like the book had a lot of wisdom in it. I love that often adults are very confounded by these big questions of, why??
[From EW]
With Jack and Tom Hanks involved, it feels like a family affair. Plus, John Mellencamp did all the music for the movie, of which Meg speaks quite glowingly. Considering she says she read and

| Meg Ryan: Conversations about aging, looks & hair color are 'not that interesting' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Meg Ryan has a new interview in Porter Magazine, and it?s a puzzler. Meg comes right out and says that she doesn?t want to have a conversation about aging and what it?s like to be 54 years old in an industry that worships 22-year-olds. CB and I were debating if Meg?s comments were pointed, perhaps at Christie Brinkley, who went on a few very public dates with John Mellencamp, Meg?s one-time crusty lover. Brinkley has been on a promotional tour where all she talks about is aging and being beautiful and all of that. So? maybe Meg is taking a very subtle swipe. Or maybe Meg is trying to shut down the conversation about aging because she?s been f?king with her face for years and she looks like a totally different person (not unlike Christie Brinkley, come to think of it). Here are some highlights from Meg?s interview:
On conversations about aging: “There are more important conversations than how women look and how they are aging. I love my age. I love my life right now. I love what I know about. I love the person I’ve become, the one I’ve evolved into. In my life I’ve been scrappy as hell, but I feel easy with things now. I think that comes with age. We get stuck in these conversations about looks and hair color and our roots. It’s interesting and funny for five minutes, but it’s not that interesting.”
So many haters: “There’s a lot of hatred in the world today?it’s so easy to judge. Imagine being a hater. How stupid! My women friends are not sitting around talking about…well, sometimes there are conversations like that, but the people I value talk about kids growing up, what kind of world they are going into, what we are eating, what we are breathing.”
On fame: “[It?s] definitely something I have had an evolving relationship to. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t want to be separated out…Fame is so cheap. Actually it’s not cheap, it’s privacy that is expensive.”
On social media: “Instagram and all that stuff is a lot of fun, but everybody has an audience now and that’s new. I think people can now relate to the idea of strangers knowing about them: sometimes that’s fine and sometimes you are misunderstood. Sometimes there’s misinformation.”
She?s still friends with her ex, John Mellencamp: “He’s the perfect kind of songwriter for this story. He’s world class. There’s not one speck of music that’s not his. He’s got some kind of magic touch.”
She?s happy: “I’m with my life right now in a way that I adore, with my kids and my world.”
[From E! News]
Don?t get me wrong, I?m all for women telling other women that superficial conversations about hair and beauty are not the most important conversations we should be having. That being said, I gossip for a living, so I think Meg is being too cute by half. We know she tweaks the hell out of her face. We KNOW it. She knows we know it. We know she felt the same pangs of superficiality and vanity that millions of other women feel. So why not talk about it?

| Meg Ryan makes a rare public appearance in Paris: Botoxy or beautiful? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m trying to decide if these photos bother me. Meg Ryan made a rare public appearance at Paris Fashion Week yesterday ? she attended the Georges Chakra Fall/Winter 2015/2016 show. She was seated in a place of honor (beside Petra Nemcova) and Meg was by far the biggest name at the show.
So what would bother me, really? Well? Meg Ryan has had a lot of work done over the years. It feels like a long time ago when she first started messing with her face in very noticeable ways, but I guess that was back in like 2008/09. Since her big public outings ? on red carpets, press conferences, etc ? were and are so rare, Meg would sometimes look wildly different each time we saw her. Several times (like back in 2013), she went WAY overboard with the lip injections and fillers. But when she got with John Mellencamp, it did seem like Meg stopped messing with her face so much. Maybe Mellencamp didn?t like that fake look, maybe she just found a better injectibles person, I don?t know. But she started to look like the old Meg.
Which brings me to these photos. Is this is the old Meg? Not really. She looks like Meg Ryan mixed with a Real Housewife mixed with like? Naomi Watts? Or something. Now all that being said, the work doesn?t look BAD. At all. If anything, I think Meg is finally working with some people who know what they?re doing with fillers and Botox. She looks good ? she just doesn?t look completely like herself. And her hair looks really good ? that?s a really flattering cut and style.
Oh, and the last I heard (which was last year!), Meg and John Mellencamp are back together. I think. I really don?t know ? we haven?t seen photos of them out and about since 2014, and the National Enquirer reported last month that Meg broke it off with Mellencamp again. Who knows?

| Crusty love never dies: Meg Ryan & John Mellencamp are back together! | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Back in August, Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp confirmed that they had split up after more than three-and-a-half years together. While I believe Mellencamp left his wife for Meg back in the day, I sort of liked John and Meg together. They made some kind of crazy-wonderful sense. They had a crusty love. Just last week, I actually got an email from someone wanting a Crusty Love Update, so here you go: Crusty Love 4 Eva!!!! They?re back together. YAY!
Things aren’t tumblin’ and crumblin’ down after all for John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan. After apparently breaking off their three-year relationship in late August, Ryan, 52 and Mellencamp, 63, are rekindling their romance.
“They are back together and it’s brand new,” a source close to Mellencamp tells PEOPLE. “They’re really happy about it.”
The pair were seen looking comfortable and relaxed together in New York City on Oct. 15 as they strolled through Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The news of their reunion isn’t completely out of the blue ? the Indiana-based musician recently made it clear that he still carries a torch for the When Harry Met Sally actress.
“She’s an angel sent to me, and I’m very happy,” he told the Today show on Sept. 25. “And, you know, nothing’s over ’til it’s over.”
Just a day later, the rocker told the Associated Press: “I’m very happy with the time I’ve spent with Meg Ryan. She’s a beautiful girl, and I know that I will never, ever, ever be with a funnier girl than her. Not gonna happen. I’m grateful for the three and a half years we’ve been together.”
“Nothing’s over,” he said when asked if they might reunite. “I never say ‘die’ for anything. Do you ever quit on anything?”
The “Jack and Diane” crooner also mentioned that Ryan had taken a photograph that appeared on the musician’s new album, Plain Spoken. Another Mellencamp insider says the couple faced difficulties such as the distance between his home base in Indiana, and hers in New York City. “There were disagreements over style of life and logistical problems which clouded their relationship,” the insider says. “But there is no doubt that he cares for her a great deal.”
“They are a great couple,” adds the Mellencamp source. “All their friends were hoping it would work out.”
[From People]
Well, I don?t see how getting back together after a few months solves the long-term problems of living in two different states, but sure. Maybe they?ve agreed to compromise after taking a breather. If these two were younger and in the first flush of it, I might have suggested that there were disagreements about whether they should marry. But I doubt it. I truly think Meg couldn?t give a damn if she ever remarries. And Mellencamp?s probably a little gun-shy about marriage these days too (didn?t his ex take him to the cleaners?). Anyway? Crusty Love Never Dies!!!
