Earlier this week, FX/Hulu released the first trailer for Ryan Murphy?s long-gestating project on John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. I thought the trailer was interesting, and I admit, I?m going to watch this (at least the first few episodes, before the quality falls off a cliff). This was originally called ?American Love Story,? but now it?s called Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Paul Anthony Kelly plays John and Sarah Pidgeon plays Carolyn. Naomi Watts plays Jackie Kennedy, and Grace Gummer plays Caroline Kennedy. I just saw that the series will include Michael Bergin, who was Carolyn?s on-and-off lover/ex/friend. Bergin is played by Noah Fernley.
Anyway, they had the big premiere event last night in New York. While I think the ?dressing up in character or on-theme for the promotional tour? bit is tired, I would have welcomed it for this series. It?s jarring to see Sarah Pidgeon promote a project where she?s playing one of THE style icons of the 1990s and Pidgeon just looks so? unlike Bessette. Carolyn would have hated this dress/ensemble, that?s all I?m saying. Sarah wore fresh-off-the-runway Chanel, part of Matthieu Blazy?s debut with Chanel. Technically, it?s a giant ?waistcoat? with feathers, all over a pair of trousers. Meh. Naomi Watts wore Balenciaga.
Sarah also spoke to Vogue ahead of the premiere, as she was selecting her Chanel ensemble. She spoke a lot about how Ryan Murphy?s team was able to pull a lot of vintage ?90s looks to recreate Bessette?s closet they got access to a lot of Yohji Yamamoto, Prada, Herms, Valentino, etc. They also tailored Levi?s jeans to look like specific pairs owned by Carolyn.

Here are more photos from the Princess of Wales?s visit to Pembrokeshire, Wales on Tuesday. She visited yet another fabric mill, and she visited Hiut Denim. Hiut Denim was a smaller Welsh brand, and then Meghan Markle/the Duchess of Sussex wore a pair of their jeans in 2018. Meghan put the brand on the map and they were backordered for months after she wore their jeans. The Meghan Effect, and eight years later, you-know-who is trying to bandwagon.
Meanwhile, Kate didn?t bother to wear a pair of Hiut jeans for the visit. Instead, Kate wore a N. Peal London turtleneck and a pair of too-long trousers from Victoria Beckham?s collection. Remember back in the day when Meghan wore trousers which ?puddled? like this? The British papers used to point it out constantly. Nary a whisper of controversy when it?s Kitty. As for Kate making a point to wear VB? just another piece in the growing body of evidence that the left-behind Windsors have some kind of symbiotic relationship with David and Victoria Beckham, and the Windsors are taking V&D?s side as opposed to Brooklyn Beckham?s side. Brooklyn is officially ?the Prince Harry? of the Beckhams.
But of course, people want to talk about Kate?s coat. While I think it?s ugly, I also find it interesting and sort of out-of-character for Kate. The only pattern she wears these days is ?tartan,? and she made a point of wearing this very 1970s-wallpaper-looking coat which is so heavy on the burnt orange. Apparently, this is a ?Welsh tapestry coat? which is actually from the 1960s. While no one has identified the actual label, Vogue and WWD agree that this was a vintage piece and not another ?bespoke? piece ?designed? by Kate. When you really look at the design and cut of the coat, you can tell that it?s vintage. Because of the quality of the cut coats these days are simply not cut and crafted this well.
During this visit, Kate met a local dog who looks a lot like her cocker spaniel Orla. Kate ended up confirming a story from 2025 Orla had four puppies, and the Wales family kept one of the puppies (a boy). She was asked about her dogs and she said: ?So weve got a little puppy, hes only 8 months, and Orlas 5. I still can?t believe that Orla wasn?t spayed, nor can I believe that no one says a word about James Middleton?s off-the-books dog-breeding operation.

| | What is the earth-shattering secret at the heart of 'The Drama?' | | Added 9 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

There was always a lot of secrecy around The Drama, the A24 film starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya. Last year, people tried to figure out the big ?secret? at the heart of the film, but it appeared as if the script was on a pretty tight lockdown. Still, people had their theories, and there were some people who claimed to know some of what the big secret is. The story starts out simply Pattinson and Zendaya play an engaged couple just days or weeks away from the big day. They?re trying to write their vows, they?re spending time with friends, they?re reflecting on their first dates, etc. And then something happens and it sets off a chain of events which almost (?) hijack the wedding. Well, the full-length trailer came out this week and it?s clear that the general rumor was correct: Zendaya?s character reveals an earth-shattering secret.
I?ve said this before, but I really love that Robert Pattinson is in this movie, in this kind of role. I?m sure that he?s probably doing something deranged in it and that?s why he said yes, but on the face of it, he should have been doing these kinds of romantic/drama leading-man roles for years! As for the big secret? well, I read some of the stuff online months ago and I?ve wondered ever since if that?s really it. I did hear one hilarious theory though, and I?m only printing it here because I don?t believe it?s real: that Zendaya?s character reveals she?s, like, another Rachel Dolezal, a woman who is just pretending to be Black. If that?s actually it, that would be funny as hell but again, I don?t think that?s it. Given Alana Haim?s reaction to the secret, it feels like the secret is pretty horrifying. Whatever it is, Pattinson?s character is sort of afraid of her after the reveal. Interesting. This better not suck!

You might think that someone with as storied a career as Steven Spielberg has done it all, but he actually hit a new milestone on Sunday: becoming an EGOT! After multiple Emmy and Oscar wins plus one Tony, a Grammy was all that was left for membership to that exclusive club. Steven just picked up his first Grammy for producing Music by John Williams, the documentary that won Best Music Film (beating out the Diane Warren doc Relentless; Warren can?t win!). Steven didn?t attend the awards show on Sunday, but his Amblin Entertainment production company treated him to celebratory EGOT balloons on Monday, which they snapped a pic of ? with Spielberg in the shot of course, this is a film studio! ? and posted on Instagram.
The Jurassic Park filmmaker, 79, achieved the milestone when he won a Grammy Award on Sunday, Feb. 1 for Best Music Film for the 2024 documentary Music by John Williams, which he produced. The legendary director had already received two Academy Awards for his movies Schindler?s List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998); multiple Emmy Awards for producing series like Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain and Freakazoid!; and a Tony Award for producing 2022?s Best Musical winner, A Strange Loop.
On Monday, Feb. 2, Spielberg?s production company Amblin Entertainment shared a photo of the filmmaker celebrating his EGOT status to Instagram. The photo shows Spielberg posing with four golden balloons that spell out ?EGOT,? as he hid his smile behind another translucent balloon. ?EGOT status ,? read a caption that the production company shared.
Spielberg received some love from friends and family in the comments of Amblin?s post, with West Side Story star Rachel Zegler writing, ?DIVA!? in response to his celebratory photo. Julianne Moore, who starred in Spielberg?s 1997 Jurassic World sequel, The Lost World, left three ?? emojis in response to the post as well. ?Woohoooo big bro! So proud of you!!? One of Spielberg?s three sisters, Sue, wrote in a comment as well. ?What?s next? Love you!?
Spielberg did not attend the Grammy Awards in person to accept his latest award. ?This acknowledgement is obviously deeply meaningful to me because it validates what I have known for over 50 years: John Williams? influence on culture and music is immeasurable and his artistry and legacy is unrivaled,? he said in a statement on Feb. 1.
The Jaws filmmaker is now one of fewer than 30 people who have ever won all four of the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards. Others who can claim the title include Richard Rodgers (1962), Helen Hayes (1977), Rita Moreno (1977), John Gielgud (1991), Audrey Hepburn (1994), Marvin Hamlisch (1995), Jonathan Tunick (1997), Mel Brooks (2001), Mike Nichols (2001), Whoopi Goldberg (2002), Scott Rudin (2012), Robert Lopez (2014), Andrew Lloyd Webber (2018), Tim Rice (2018), John Legend (2018), Alan Menken (2020), Jennifer Hudson (2022), Viola Davis (2023), Elton John (2024), and Benji Pasek and Justin Paul (2024).
[From People via AOL]
That really is special that he won for a project close to his heart, something that honors his longtime friend and creative partner. Music By John Williams has been on my list of films to watch (it?s on Disney+), now I really need to move it to the top! After all, I love film scores and good documentaries! As for EGOT status, Steven is now the 22nd artist to join the ranks. It?s wild that for nearly 15 years there were only three in the club ? Richard Rodgers, Helen Hayes, and Rita Moreno ? before so many more joined them starting in the 90s. I?ve been perusing a detailed list that breaks down not only who, but also which specific award (directing, acting, etc) and for which project. For anyone working on their own EGOT progress, here?s my advice: PRODUCE. That?s where most of these 22 really started piling on the wins. Also, I miss Mike Nichols. Just wanted to say that.

Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes cohost the Smartless podcast, which has become one of the major podcasts in America. They?ve all been friends for years, and they usually interview their friends or colleagues because they know everybody. Well, Smartless has become a regular stop for a lot of celebrities promoting their latest projects. I assume that?s what happened here with Charli XCX, who is currently promoting Wuthering Heights (she did the music for the film) and The Moment, a somewhat autobiographical feature film about her Brat tour. I?ve read Charli?s interviews and she?s actually a good subject she has a dry wit, she?s smart and she doesn?t give a fk. Well, I don?t think Bateman, Arnett and Hayes did much research on Charli before they interviewed her, because they didn?t even know that she got married last year. Bateman ended up pressing Charli on whether she wants kids, and when she said she didn?t, he said that patronizing thing that so many people say: maybe you?ll change your mind when you meet someone.
Jason Bateman is getting some criticism online after a new episode of his podcast features him and his co-hosts awkwardly pressing Charli XCX about why she doesn?t want kids. In the episode, which started streaming on Monday (February 2), Charli, 33, is a guest on Jason?s Smartless podcast with co-hosts Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.
At one point they?re talking about growing up and Charli being an only child. Jason, 57, then asks her if that influences how many kids she wants to have, wondering if she wants to ?have more than one kid? or maybe one who ?has the same sort of experience as you??
In response, the ?Girl, So Confusing? singer said: ?I actually don?t want to have kids.?
Sean, 55, chimed in immediately to ask her, ?You don?t? Wait, why?? Though a few seconds later he followed up with, ?It?s none of my business.?
But Charli responded thoughtfully, saying she likes the ?fantasy of having a child, like naming it, it sounds so fun, but like that is exactly a sign to me to why I should not have one, the fact that that feels like the coolest part about it and like, maybe I?m not ready, you know??
However, from there, things get awkward as Jason started telling a story about how his own wife, Amanda Anka, supposedly didn?t want children before she met him. Now they have two daughters. He suggests that she ?might find somebody? who will change her mind, too.
To which Charli replied, ?Well, I?m married.? She and her husband George Daniel held two weddings last year, one in London, and another in Italy. The Ozark star then joked that he needed to ?read a newspaper,? but Charli did come to his rescue a bit, saying she understood where he was going with his anecdote. Jason followed up with another joke that maybe she will want a kid with her ?next husband.?
[From JustJared]
I?ve queued the YouTube video to the relevant section below, Charli and Bateman start out by talking about siblings and how Charli felt growing up as an only child, and Jason really pushed into that conversation about children. My take? I think it was a legitimate interview question at first within the flow of the conversation they were talking about only children, Charli?s childhood, etc. It was fine for him to ask if she thought about those issues if she had kids. But when she talked about not wanting children, that?s when Jason got sort of disrespectful and patronizing. Also: Sean Hayes tried to save the conversation and bless him.

A consistent criticism of many current actresses is that they simply look too ?modern? for any kind of period drama. That?s especially true of many American actresses, and I would argue that British actresses tend to look more period-piece ready (think Kiera Knightley, Mia Goth, Anya Taylor Joy, Olivia Colman, Helen Mirren, etc). There?s always a social media discourse about ?Instagram Face,? as in? if you look like a filtered Instagram influencer, you?re probably not going to get cast in a Jane Austen adaptation. I often think this discourse is unfair to actresses because people are projecting their own bullsh-t unto who can and cannot ?pull off? a period role or period costume.
Well, all that being said, I think the ?too modern for period drama? discourse is completely fair in Margot Robbie?s case. She looks like what she is: a modern woman, a 21st century blonde who grew up on an Australian beach. Every clip or glimpse I?ve seen from Wuthering Heights just shows that Margot was badly miscast as Cathy. I would even argue that Jacob Elordi comes close to pulling off Heathcliff (minus the whitewashing controversy), and that Jacob actually has that thing where he looks convincing in period pieces and period costume. But not Margot.
I bring this up because of these photos from the Paris premiere of Wuthering Heights. Margot has been trying to wear Wuthering-themed dresses and style herself with a mid-19th-century vibe for the premieres and it?s not working!! My God, it?s really not working. Margot?s dress here is a custom Chanel, and I assume it was customized to have a 19th century feel. She also wore a Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklace with over 100 carats. Sigh.
It looks like real reviews of WH have been embargoed until closer to the release, but I keep seeing tweets from people who have seen some early screenings and they?re mostly disappointed rather than shocked and turned on.
