When in Cannes, expect the unexpected, fashion-wise at least. Marion Cotillard is a regular at Cannes and it?s like she saves up all of the wacky ensembles for this one film festival. These are photos of Marion at the De Son Vivant (Peaceful) premiere at Cannes. This Chanel gown is a lot. I actually like the color of the denim and I love the ?print? on the denim. But the actual design and construction is straight-up Sister Wife, correct? Combined with Marion?s Michelle Duggar hair, she looks like she?s part of some French Mormon-breakaway cult led by a charismatic leader named Jeddhosaphah. I?d like to take this same printed denim and maybe make this into a sundress? That would be so much better.
Bonus Marion at one of her many photocalls? I?m assuming this is Chanel too. The overalls have a nice construction but this outfit is pretty terrible too.
Virginie Efira is Belgian and really beautiful. She wore a caped Dior to the Benedetta premiere. I generally find blondes-in-beige/off-white to be pretty boring but this is just the right shade and just the right dress. One of my favorite looks of the festival, honestly.
Jessica Chastain and Maggie Gyllenhaal attended the Chopard event at the festival. Jessica?s gown is Valentino, and Maggie?s Versace. Maggie loved her gown to several events, that?s how much she liked this one. As she should it?s a great dress. I love Jessica in green but I loathe the cutouts on the side of the bodice.
Adle Exarchopoulos in Fendi. I fear this would be me in Cannes: ?Do you just have a simple pantsuit or something?? She looks over it. But chic.
Tina Kunakey (Mrs. Vincent Cassel) in Valentino at the Benedetta premiere. It was a big look and I enjoyed it!
Carla Bruni in a simple black column dress, looking chic. Look, the gown has pockets!!
Sean Penn is in Cannes to promote Ham-Face: The Musical! No, I jest. He?s promoting Flag Day, which is getting surprisingly great reviews. He directed the film and it?s based on a true story of a counterfeiter and con man (played by Sean Penn) and his relationship with his daughter, played by Sean?s real daughter Dylan Penn. Katheryn Winnick plays the mom she wore Stella McCartney. Dylan wore Chanel.

| Marion Cotillard thought it was 'weird' that Woody Allen 'married one of his daughters' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sometimes I think Marion Cotillard is the victim of lost-in-translation shenanigans. Like, she?s a very fluent English speaker, but you can see that she sometimes struggles, in English interviews, to really express herself fully, with every nuance she really intends. Then again, when she?s speaking in French interviews, she has moments where she still sounds a bit wacky, so maybe this is just who she is and how she really speaks. I bring this up because Marion was asked about Woody Allen, seemingly in an English-language interview with THR at a French Film event. Marion worked on Woody Allen?s Midnight In Paris in 2011, and she has not worked with him since. Her answers though? I?m sorry, but I laughed out loud.
The day after Dylan Farrow’s first television interview aired recounting her alleged abuse at the hands of her father Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris star Marion Cotillard has said that her experience working with Allen was “odd” and she would question working with him again.
“I didn’t know much about his personal life, actually,” the Oscar winner told THR at the UniFrance Rendez-vous with French Film event to promote the country’s cinema. “I knew that he had married one of his daughters which I thought, honestly, was weird, but I cannot judge something I don’t know.”
“I’m very ignorant of what he did or he didn’t do, I just see people suffering and it’s terrible,” she said. “I have to say today, yeah, if he were to ask me again – I don’t think it would ever happen because the experience we had together was very odd. I admire some of his work but we had no connection on set. But I have to say if he asked me to today I would question more, I would dig more,” she added. “I don’t know, I’m very ignorant about this story and I just see that it hurts to see people suffering.”
[From THR]
This might be the most French sentiment in the history of French sentiments: ?I knew that he had married one of his daughters which I thought, honestly, was weird, but I cannot judge something I don’t know.? Can we ever really KNOW? Can we really ever judge? Sure, we think we know that a man married his daughter, but je ne sais pas, what can one do? Que sera sera. As for all of these actresses coming out and cutting ties publicly with Woody Allen? I?m enjoying it. I think Marion?s is my new favorite.

| Marion Cotillard in Y/Project at the Cannes Film Festival: lovely or tired? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Could we get any more French than this photo? Here are Marion Cotillard and Charlotte Gainsbourg at the Cannes Film Festival photocall for Ismael?s Ghosts today, the first day of Cannes. This year?s Cannes Film Festival will be very heavy on the art-house films, international cinema, Nicole Kidman and? not much else. Everyone?s saying that this year?s Cannes feels pretty muted, but I hope we at least get some good premiere photos. The Opening Night festivities will probably be huge, and we?ll have fashion coverage tomorrow.
As for Marion, she recently gave birth to her second child, so she probably isn?t feeling like getting all gussied up in some barely-there cocktail dress at the moment. Which is why she wore what amounts to Capri pants and a sheet-dress at the photocall. This outfit is by Y/Project.
Here are some pics from the Cannes jury photocall, with Pedro Almodvar, Will Smith and Jessica Chastain. I totally forgot that Chastain is on this year?s jury. That means she?ll be on a lot of red carpets. Her red jumpsuit here is Alexander McQueen Roksanda.

Here?s Monica Bellucci at the ?Master of Ceremonies? photocall today. That?s not the name of a new film – Monica is acting as the MC of this year?s Cannes. Which means she?s probably being paid to just show up on red carpets and look ravishing.

Here is Marion Cotillard swimming on the island of Fuerteventura with her husband.
Fuerteventura, one of Spain?s Canary Islands, sits in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Morocco. It?s known primarily as a holiday destination due to its white-sand beaches and year-round warmth cooled by constant winds.
The force of gravity is working overtime on her!!!
Look at them.. damn

Letting her effortless beauty do the talking, Marion Cotillard is the face of Cruise 2016 from Lady Dior.
The ?Dark Knight Rises? actress lounges on a bed, surrounded by flowers and satin sheets while Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott capture her sublime presence for the just-released ads.
Meanwhile, Marion has also been busy working on her forthcoming film ?Macbeth,? a live-action depiction of the Shakespearean classic which also happens to star Michael Fassbender.

| Marion Cotillard is not a feminist: 'I don't want to separate women from men' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Marion Cotillard covers the October issue of Porter magazine to promote her turn with Michael Fassbender in Macbeth. I’m not really feeling the peasant top on the cover. This is a shame because Marion can wear the heck out of some clothes, but she looks like she’s running through a field, perchance to milk some cows.
The interview isn’t much better, unfortunately, as Marion joins the crowd of ladies who don’t understand feminism. Now, I can respect people who straight up admit they don’t know much about it. Most of the time though, it seems like these women have heard something bad about feminism at some point, and never bothered to research it on their own. Googling is too difficult for some people. Marion says she’s not a feminist because fighting for equality only separates the sexes:
On equality in cinema: “Film-making is not about gender. You cannot ask a president in a film festival like Cannes to have, like, five movies directed by women and five by men.”
She’s not a feminist: “For me, it doesn’t create equality, it creates separation. I mean, I don’t qualify myself as a feminist. We need to fight for women’s rights, but I don’t want to separate women from men. We’re separated already but we’re not made the same and it?s the difference that creates this energy in creation and love. Sometimes in the word feminism there is too much separation.”
[From Porter Magazine via Marie Claire]
I’m nearly out of words for celebrities who don’t understand the meaning of feminism. Publicists should keep the definition in a ready-made kit full of prospective interview questions. This is 2015, and journalists will ask. Some people consider the question a trap, but still, actors and pop stars should always anticipate being quoted on the subject. If they have a well-reasoned explanation for not being a feminist that’s one thing, but there’s no excuse for not even knowing the definition.

| Marion Cotillard in lime green Gaultier at Cannes amfAR gala: stunning or tragic? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Cannes amfAR gala is probably the most glamourous event at the Cannes Film Festival every single year. This year?s gala was well-attended, but it seemed especially model-heavy. There weren?t very many proper actors, but at least Marion Cotillard was there to anchor the whole evening in this rather inspired look. Marion usually wears Dior for her biggest nights, so I was surprised to see her in this bright lime green gown from Jean Paul Gaultier. I LOVE IT. I love it on her specifically. Marion can be sort of airy-fairy in her style and her personality, usually choosing fanciful, at time bizarre ensembles for herself. It?s wonderful to see her looking like a proper ?movie star?. She looks glamorous and perfect. Love this.
Gigi Hadid in Tom Ford. This is a white version of the gown Julianne Moore wore to the BAFTAs in February. Julianne?s version had a better fit, and Julianne?s boobs weren?t falling out like Gigi?s. Still, pretty girl and it?s a big deal for her to wear Tom Ford for such a major event. Ten bucks says that Leonardo DiCaprio has been trying to get Gigi on his yacht all week.
Dita Von Teese in Ulyana Sergeenko. I hate this on Dita. Imagine Dita is she had gone for something exquisitely glam, like Cotillard. This is a fashion fail for Dita.
Chanel Iman in Zuhair Murad Couture. Is it wrong to love this? Because I flat-out love it.
Sarah Ferguson in a conservative red gown. This is the gala-version of wearing a black pantsuit to work.
Georgina Chapman in Marchesa. Such a mess. She can?t even design clothes for herself.
Karolina Kurkova in Alexis Mabille Couture. Like Chanel Iman?s gown, I love this for what it is: big and dramatic and interesting.
Zoe Kravitz in Vionnet. SOOOO boring.

| Marion Cotillard in Dior at the Oscars: retro cool or too much fabric? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Marion Cotillard was nominated again last night, which was her second Oscar nomination (I could have sworn she had more) and she of course has one Academy Award already, for 2007?s La Vie en Rose. This year Marion was nominated for a French language Belgian film that barely anyone has seen called Two Days, One Night. (I did see her in The Immigrant, she was excellent in that and she was up for a Spirit Award for that role, which went to Julianne Moore.) As per usual, Marion was in Dior, and as we’ve come to expect, it was offbeat. She was in an all white sleeveless Dior gown with a slight side train and a large circle print.
Cotillard was styled in a late 50s/early 60s vibe, and the whole look is very Zooey Deschanel at the Golden Globes. Plus the dress had tons of gathered fabric at the back that ended in a black band under her butt. So weird.
This is what Cotillard wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar party, and it’s not much better. I’m glad she didn’t wear this strange dress to the ceremony. What happens when Marion collaborates at Dior? Do they drink pastis, smoke hash and come up with the strangest designs possible, using the most fabric? This dress is like the top of Julianne Moore’s Spirit Awards dress (also Dior) meets the bottom of Bjork’s swan dress (Valentino) with a giant black band at the waist topped with a jaunty white sash, tied into a half-assed bow. Just no.

| Marion Cotillard in Bottega Veneta at the BAFTA event: stunning or boring? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are more photos from last night?s pre-Globes BAFTA LA event in LA. I was going to focus on Rosamund Pike, but then I saw Marion Cotillard. WOW. Marion wore this lovely Bottega Veneta and I?m in love with it. Forget Jaime King?s Valentino gown, THIS is my new favorite pre-Globes event gown. Look at the simplicity of this ? off-white, high-neck gown with pockets and a small belt. But the way she wears it, plus the chest pattern and hint of sparkle? this gown is next-level. It?s the perfect gown to wear to a pre-Globes event. It?s a great party dress, it?s comfortable, it?s pretty. Yay! Some people believe Marion should have been a bigger Best Actress contender this year, and that?s what this dress says to me. If we had paid more attention to Marion, we could have been enjoying fashion moments like this more often.
Rosamund Pike in Alexander McQueen. I?m not really crazy about this? It?s interesting, for sure, and it?s good to see Rosamund still bringing interesting fashion moments. But the top part is giving her linebacker shoulders in an effort to make her waist look smaller (and her waist is already really small for a lady who just had a baby). The proportions are just off. I know that was the design goal, but still. Not really that cute.
Anna Kendrick in Andrew Gn. Sigh? Anna could do so much better than this. I actually don?t think Anna is a ?fashion girl? which is fine, but she needs a better stylist or something.
Cara Delevingne in Mulberry. Well well well. I actually think Cara looks very pretty here. Is that because she dialed down her smirk? Is it because she didn?t look stoned out of her mind? Perhaps. The Mulberry dress isn?t my cup of tea, but the whole look is pretty solid. Not bad, Cara.
