Over the past few years, Angelina Jolie has been getting back to work in front of the camera. She did the second Maleficent movie. She did voice work for a Disney film. She signed on to The Eternals. She filmed Come Away with David Oyelowo. She filmed Those Who Wish Me Dead, and she?s in preproduction on Every Note Played. Considering she mostly stepped away from acting work in the last years of her relationship with/marriage to Brad Pitt, it felt like Angelina was making a point to show that she was still an in-demand actress. I also think that she probably wanted to put away some money and she was happy for the paychecks.
In those years that she stepped away from acting, she spoke a lot about how she was more focused on directing and producing. She hasn?t directed a film since First They Killed My Father, which was based on Loung Ung?s true story/memoir. Now Angelina is doing another bio-pic type film she?s signed on to direct Unreasonable Behaviour.
Angelina Jolie (Unbroken) has signed on to direct Unreasonable Behaviour, a biopic of legendary British war photographer Don McCullin, based on his autobiography of the same title. The film is being produced by Tom Hardy and Dean Baker under their Hardy Son & Baker banner (Taboo) alongside Working Title Films? Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Darkest Hour). McCullin and Mark George are exec producing. No word on casting yet.
BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Gregory Burke (?71) is writing the screenplay. The autobiography is an unflinching account of the celebrated British war photographer?s life, which took him from poverty-stricken, wartime London to some of the world?s most dangerous war zones. Best known for his often harrowing black and white images taken in Vietnam and Cambodia whilst working for The Observer and The Sunday Times Newspapers, McCullin risked his life to capture the images of war which continue to resonate to this day.
?I am humbled to have a chance to bring Don McCullin?s life to film,? said Jolie in a statement. ?I was drawn to his unique combination of fearlessness and humanity ? his absolute commitment to witnessing the truth of war, and his empathy and respect for those who suffer its consequences. We hope to make a film that is as uncompromising as Don?s photography, about the extraordinary people and events he witnessed, and the rise and fall of a unique era in journalism?.
Don McCullin added: ?Having viewed Angelina?s last film on Cambodia (and having spent so much time during the war there) I was very impressed at how she made such a powerful and accurate representation of the place at that time. I feel as if I am in safe, capable and professional hands with her.?

I?ll be sort of honest, if you asked me if I thought Tom Hardy would ever sign off on producing a bio-pic directed by a woman, I would have said, flatly, ?no.? Hardy never seemed like the type to actively seek projects with women in front of or behind the camera. That was especially notable with his grumpypants routine all the way around Mad Max: Fury Road (a feminist masterpiece). Considering Hardy?s involvement on the producing side, I also think that he wants to star in the lead role. Let?s see what Director Jolie says about that. Anyway, I?m interested in this project and I hope it doesn?t turn into a slog. I love her, but Unbroken was brutal (well-directed, but brutal) and I hope she follows her strengths.
Meanwhile, here?s an update on the Jolie-Pitt divorce: Judge Ouderkirk really is staying on their case, even after Team Jolie?s attempt to have him removed. I truly have no idea what that means or how it will affect the divorce trial.

Wall Street Journal writer/columnist Elizabeth Holmes has written a book based off her popular royal-fashion social media/column. The book is HRH So Many Thoughts on Royal Style. We talked about some of the excerpts before Holmes quoted Robert Lacey?s claims that the Queen?s hats are indicative of her ?indentured? servitude. Thus far, from the excerpts I?ve seen, Holmes? analysis of royal fashion is basically what all of us do here, only Holmes aims for perky positivity where we tend to go negative and button-shame and point out creepy cosplay. Well, Holmes? book apparently points out gently! that the Duchess of Cambridge really changed up her look as soon as Meghan Markle came around. No sh-t.
Nothing wrong with a little healthy competition! According to royal fashion expert and author Elizabeth Holmes, Kate Middleton definitely stepped up her style game when Meghan Markle came around.
?I think Kate kicked up her fashion game in the fall of 2018, certainly after the royal wedding of Harry and Megan,? Holmes tells Us while appearing on Us Weekly?s series ?Royally Us? to promote her new book HRH So Many Thoughts on Royal Style. ?Kate had just had Louie and she went away on maternity leave for a couple months and came back and suddenly had a little bit more fashion in her wardrobe.?
Though Holmes says that this change could have been due to a variety of things, it was certainly interesting timing. ?It?s impossible to say what inspired that,? she explains. ?It could be just sort of bouncing back after having a baby or that she was working with some new fashion advisers. But I do think that Megan on the scene sort of made everything more exciting for both of them. And I love that Kate kind of stepped up her game!?

Yeah, all of us who had been following Kate?s tortured style journey from Waity to Future Future Queen/Perfect Kate could plainly see that Kate really changed things up as soon as Meghan came around. I kind of disagree that Kate began the change after her last maternity leave it started earlier than that, basically as soon as it was confirmed that Harry and Meghan were dating. Kate had competition and she had someone to copy. I also think that she was purposefully doing a lot of repeats in 2018-19 because Meghan was getting so much bad press about the cost of her clothes.
Holmes also has an interview in Glamour where she talks about how her interest in royal fashion evolved. Some of her thoughts here were kind of interesting:
Kate was never a fashionista: ?Kate and Meghan have been the focus of my Instagram presence?Kate was somebody I?ve loved since 2011, and Meghan came on the scene as I was commenting on Instagram. Together they make a fascinating pair. I certainly don?t want to compare the two of them. Kate has grown into fashion, from what I understand; she began to embrace clothes and the power of clothes and draws a lot of attention for someone not naturally interested in fashion. She knows clothes are a part of her duties, and this is very similar to the Queen?s approach?using clothes as almost a uniform. I very much enjoy seeing the two of them and the similarities between their approaches.
How quickly Meghan changed the royal fashion game: ?With Meghan, I continue to be impressed and amazed by how quickly she?s picked up the power of royal fashion. She entered the family as a fully formed and very accomplished woman. She jumped right in. What she did during her time as a senior working royal, to see all that she did with her fashion in that short time?she fulfilled the traditional idea of what a royal woman should wear, but she also put her own spin on it, which I respect and admire. She found a way to make it her own.
Holmes identifies most with Meghan: ?I?d love to say I?m a Diana, but I don?t think I am. I?m not as much of a risk taker. I?d most identify with Meghan. I think what she introduced was a bit of modernity to the royal fashion equation. I followed Kate for a long time before Meghan started dating Harry, so I appreciate and admire her style, but it is such a traditionally royal look that I found it not realistic for my life. At the core, there?s a formality to what Kate wears. I appreciate that, and it?s extremely appropriate for her role as the future queen consort. But I look at my closet, and I look at these four women, and I see Meghan in there. Elevated but minimalistic, a chic, modern woman. She introduced a relaxed sophistication that we never really saw from Kate, and there?s real power in that. I?m excited for what Meghan is doing now. She?s made the royal fashion conversation much more interesting and much more modern.

I mean, Holmes isn?t wrong! Meghan brought a more modern look overall and you can still enjoy talking about Kate?s style AND acknowledge that she sometimes dresses like a Victorian doll. I also think Holmes pointed out something fundamental about Kate, which is that Kate doesn?t really have an interest in fashion or an interest in being stylish or modern. Kate has always been in this rut, almost like she?s too lazy to actually be fashionable. Also: Ive said this before, but its always been clear that Kate has never had to dress professionally for a job. She doesnt get work-wear or professional attire whatsoever. That comes from never holding a real job.

Jamie Lee Curtis was recently able to officiate a virtual wedding for a Halloween super fan who was dying from terminal cancer. Anthony Woodle worked for a movie theater in Charleston, South Carolina. The movie theater reached out to Halloween director David Gordon Greene on behalf of Woodle. Greene surprised Woodle and Emilee, Woodles fiance, with a private screening of the new Halloween movie, Halloween Kills. Jamie Lee appeared on The Talk on Tuesday. She shared more about Woodle and Emilee and what she was able to do for them before Woodle passed. Here are a few excerpts via People:
Curtis, 61, appeared on Tuesdays episode of The Talk where she told the story of how she came to officiate the wedding of Halloween superfan Anthony Woodle, who died of cancer earlier this year.
The actress said the movie theater Woodle worked at in Charleston, South Carolina first reached out to Halloween director David Gordon Green to tell him about Woodle. Green ended up screening the upcoming sequel Halloween Kills early for Woodle, a year before the films set to open in theaters. (It was pushed back a year due to the COVID-19 health crisis.)
They said that a young man who works there named Anthony Woodle, very young and beautiful guy, was diagnosed with cancer and didn?t have long to live, Curtis explained. And so David showed him a movie that no one in the world has seen, he showed Anthony and his fiance Emilee the chance to see the new Halloween movie, which I thought was just a beautiful gesture. And I simply followed it up by calling Anthony and sort of starting a conversation to say I could tell him any secret.
Over the course of the conversation, Curtis ended up agreeing to marry Anthony and his fiance Emilee.
Curtis performed the ceremony over Zoom as Woodle and Emilees family and friends gathered. The actress said Woodle died about an hour after the wedding.

This is one of those bittersweet celebrity stories. It is touching that Woodle got a chance to meet one of his idols, but heartbreaking that he passed away a couple hours after Jamie Lee officiated his wedding. I think it is wonderful that people like Jamie Lee are honoring their fans in such beautiful ways. I love how Jamie offered to officiate Woodle and Emilees wedding after speaking with them. I also loved that she sent them the My Hand in Yours sculpture which made its way into the ceremony. Jamie Lee tearing up at the end also hit me in the feels.
I hope Emilee is doing well and I send my condolences to her and Woodles family for their loss. I hope that Woodle carried this experience with him when he died. I would like to see more stories like this about celebrities. In the meantime, I hope that this story helps people see that small acts of kindness make the world a better place.

Olivia Wilde & Jason Sudeikis announced their split with an uncredited exclusive in People Magazine less than a week ago. It was interesting because, from where I sit, no one had really been checking on them this year? And it does sound like they were separated for much of the year. I?m not saying that they were trying to generate interest in their breakup, but I do think that they probably announced it when they did for a reason, and we?ll figure that out soon enough. For now, we?ll just have to settle for this somewhat interesting Us Weekly story on ?what went wrong,? which sounds like it just came from Olivia?s camp.
Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis? split may have come as a surprise to fans, but according to a source, the former couple grew apart over time.
?They?ve been separated for months now and there really is no drama. They?re handling this like adults,? the source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. ?It?s all about coparenting their kids, Daisy and Otis. That?s the priority for them.?
Us confirmed on Friday, November 13, that Wilde, 36, and Sudeikis, 45, called off their engagement after nine years together. The pair, who share son Otis, 6, and daughter Daisy, 4, got engaged in 2012 after two years of dating.
?They?re both successful in their own right and have multiple projects in the works. No one expects any big money grab or custody battle,? the source continues. ?Olivia has a very promising directing and producing career and Jason has films lined up.?
According to the source, the pair?s bicoastal lifestyle also played a factor in their split.
?Of course, there were arguments and fights over career decisions and where to live. This reminds me that I used to believe that Olivia wanted to get married more than him, and he was more like ?why don?t we just live together and raise the kids together?? I still sort of believe that was their dynamic he was gun-shy about marriage, she wanted to lock it down. But I can also see how, in the past few years, they just grew apart and had normal couple issues and stuff. That being said, I still say they were a weird couple and they never really ?fit? together in the first place. Olivia?s people being shady about it after the fact too: ?She was also busier than him at times, which was difficult at times? and ?Olivia has a very promising directing and producing career and Jason has films lined up.? Mmhm.
