Several days ago, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for Project Angel Food?s Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Campus. Jamie Lee Curtis was there and she spoke to various media outlets covering the event. The fact that she gave some interviews is not in violation of the SAG-AFTRA strike this was not a premiere nor was it promotion for struck work. However, JLC was asked about the actors? strike and her response was? not great. It was awful, actually:
?I hope I can be Switzerland in all this and say that I hope both sides see the value in continuing conversations? the issues are real and my hope is that no one will be happy with a settlement, but we will get back to work? I?m more Switzerland. I?m not a polarized person here. I don?t like the rhetoric on both sides? Any settlement means nobody?s happy. So there will be a settlement and not everyone will be happy. I don?t like the them vs. us. The fact that there?s a them and an us bothers me. It?s one industry and I hope that all of the sides can recognize the oneness of our industry, and that we are interdependent, and that AI is not interdependent, that human beings are and at the end of the day our interdependency with each other will prevail.?
[From Reuters & THR]
If that sounds repetitive, it?s because she said variations of the same thing to several different outlets, including Variety and Reuters. Those were her talking points, and whenever she was asked about the strike, she declared herself Switzerland, claimed that she doesn?t like the divisiveness of a strike and that she hopes that no one gets what they want. Instead of just owning that bullsh-t opinion, JLC backtracked in a hurry once people were like ?WTF, you can?t vocally support your union??? She posted this on Instagram:
TO CLEAR UP ANY CONFUSION!
On Thursday I attended a beautiful charity event celebrating the groundbreaking for the new campus of @projectangelfood and I was inevitably asked about the strike and I made a comment about wanting to be like Switzerland. All of a sudden the clearly desperate news cycle machine is all over me to clarify those comments.
HERE THEY ARE!
I FULLY SUPPORT the @sagaftra strike, have volunteered making signs multiple times and have donated to the relief fund. I SUPPORT the leadership and SUPPORT our demands. Im a rank-and-file union member. I am not on any negotiating committee. I believe we have to look at all sides in any conflict in order to find resolution, solution and a fair and equitable settlement. Can we end this now and not turn this into some ridiculous news cycle story AND GET BACK TO THE TABLE AND NEGOTIATE?
[From JLC?s Instagram]
Again, the media didn?t make up anything, the media is not putting words in her mouth she repeated the same sentiments to multiple outlets covering the groundbreaking, all with the same patronizing, know-it-all attitude that she alone is impartial on this issue. She was the one telling people that she?s Switzerland, she was the one who couldn?t muster up some enthusiastic support for her union.

| Jamie Lee Curtis to miss Oscar Nominee Dinner: Mommy goes to bed early | Added 619 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Typical Hollywood, always eyeing the next thing. At the Independent Spirit Awards where Everything Everywhere All at Once cleaned up, all folks on the Red Carpet wanted to talk about was? the Oscars. Sheesh learn to live in the moment, people! But one The Hollywood Reporter interviewer wanted to know Jamie Lee Curtis? Oscar week plans, now that the Academy has finally gotten around to adding ?Nominee? to Jamie?s hyphens. And Jamie said she?s staying in. During a Red Carpet/TikTok exclusive, Jamie spilled some secrets her publicist Heidi Schaeffer was trying to keep the lid on (according to Jamie). By virtue of being a nominee, Jamie scored an exclusive invite to the vaunted Nominees Dinner that takes place the Thursday night before the Oscars. But Jamie said she?s already declined the invitation because the dinner begins at 7:30, and she goes to bed early. Here?s what she told THR:
I?m going to tell you a secret right now. Heidi?s gonna be mad that I?m telling you this. There?s an Academy Awards Nominee dinner, on Thursday night at 7:30 and I have declined. Now you might say, ?Jamie, you?re nominated for an Academy Award. You?re gonna be in the room with only nominees for the Academy Award,? and I have declined.
Why?
Because mommy goes to bed early. ?Cause 7:30 is gonna be 9 before we get food, and you know what? There?s nothing good happening with me after 9 o?clock. Nothing. Zero!
[From The Hollywood Reporter via DListed]
I could not love Jamie more for this. This is exactly why I would decline the invitation as well, btw. I?m starting to see restaurant reservations after 6:45 as just too late (you have to factor in the drive home). And Jamie?s been to enough of these things to know what she?s talking about. A 7:30 start time means moving and schmoozing for the first 90 minutes and then a plate of overworked, rich food that will wipe you out as you sit through speeches and people congratulating themselves more than the nominees. Emily over at DListed was curious what happens to Jamie after 9pm, but I think I know what she?s talking about. Once I make the post-bedtime switch over, I become completely unfiltered. Whatever I?m doing had better be far more interesting than sleep. Because if it?s not, everyone is hearing about it.
But the true beauty in Jamie?s comments is how flawlessly she shows her royal status once again. These nominee-only things are a chance to rub elbows with the crme de la crme. There are no underlings, no influencers or Kardashians. These are the nominees, people who, allegedly, earned their place at the table. The people that those in Hollywood want to be around either because they idolize them or go way back with them. And Jamie knows shes the ?them? people want to be around. There isn?t a room she can?t get in. She doesn?t have to stay up past her bedtime just to chat with Colin Farrell. If she wanted to talk to him, she?d let it be known he should make time for her. And he?d come running.

Jamie Lee Curtis comes from Hollywood royalty. Her mother was Janet Leigh, who?s arguably most remembered as the woman in the shower from Psycho. But Janet was incredible. She was Meg in the June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor Little Women. She was top billed in Bye Bye Birdie. And my gawd if you?ve never seen her in Touch of Evil or The Manchurian Candidate, please rectify that as soon as possible. Plus, she was as beautiful as she was talented. Jamie?s father was the man-about-town, Tony Curtis. Tony has a list of credits as long as your arm, notably Spartacus, Some Like It Hot, The Great Race, Flesh and Fury and my personal favorite, Operation Petticoat. Both were so iconic to Hollywood that Jamie had to prove herself a worthy heir to the Leigh-Curtis dynasty, not only in talent but in appearance, something the press was very cruel to her about for years. In the latest People podcast, Jamie gives a very different insight to being the child of famous parents. She said the hardest thing for her was watching her parents face aging out of the industry.
Jamie Lee Curtis is revealing what it was like to watch her screen legend parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh grow old in Hollywood.
The two-time Golden Globe winner, 62, appears on this weeks episode of the PEOPLE in the 90s podcast, where she recounts the pair getting face lifts and neck lifts, which prepared her for the harsh reality of aging in the industry.
Im the child of movie stars. I watched my parents get face lifts and neck lifts, Curtis tells PEOPLE in the 90s hosts Jason Sheeler and Andrea Lavinthal. I watched their work diminish, I watched their fame not diminish. And the contradiction of a lot of fame, but not a lot of work, is really hard to navigate for people. Very hard to be famous but not be doing the thing that made you famous. And that for the rest of your life, youre famous for something you did a long time ago, and you chase that attention.
[From People]
I remember a few photos of both Jamie?s parents post plastic surgery and it did seem they were chasing the clock. If I remember correctly, Janet stopped after a while and let her procedures settle but Tony kept going until the end. I find Jamie?s comments about fame and trying to remain relevant later in one?s career fascinating. It must be devastating when no one thinks you are capable of being the thing that made you impressive. I liked Janet quite a bit. I think she was treated unfairly by Hollywood and definitely by Tony, but she had a great career and then reinvented herself as an author. Although I acknowledge he?s a good actor, I am no fan of Tony as a person, so this is where my mom would tell me to not say anything at all.
Jamie used what she saw her parents go through when making her own career choices. By establishing herself a solid character actor, she was able to age out of the hard body roles she was landing in the ?80s. Plus, she made the brilliant move to return to the Halloween franchise which made her famous. And to Jamie?s credit, I know nepotism helped her career, but even so, she has forged a career independent of her parents and independent of her husband, successful filmmaker Christopher Guest. So Jamie went into this business with her eyes wide open and found her own path.

| Jamie Lee Curtis officiated a wedding for a Halloween superfan with cancer | Added 3 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jamie Lee Curtis was recently able to officiate a virtual wedding for a Halloween super fan who was dying from terminal cancer. Anthony Woodle worked for a movie theater in Charleston, South Carolina. The movie theater reached out to Halloween director David Gordon Greene on behalf of Woodle. Greene surprised Woodle and Emilee, Woodles fiance, with a private screening of the new Halloween movie, Halloween Kills. Jamie Lee appeared on The Talk on Tuesday. She shared more about Woodle and Emilee and what she was able to do for them before Woodle passed. Here are a few excerpts via People:
Curtis, 61, appeared on Tuesdays episode of The Talk where she told the story of how she came to officiate the wedding of Halloween superfan Anthony Woodle, who died of cancer earlier this year.
The actress said the movie theater Woodle worked at in Charleston, South Carolina first reached out to Halloween director David Gordon Green to tell him about Woodle. Green ended up screening the upcoming sequel Halloween Kills early for Woodle, a year before the films set to open in theaters. (It was pushed back a year due to the COVID-19 health crisis.)
They said that a young man who works there named Anthony Woodle, very young and beautiful guy, was diagnosed with cancer and didn?t have long to live, Curtis explained. And so David showed him a movie that no one in the world has seen, he showed Anthony and his fiance Emilee the chance to see the new Halloween movie, which I thought was just a beautiful gesture. And I simply followed it up by calling Anthony and sort of starting a conversation to say I could tell him any secret.
Over the course of the conversation, Curtis ended up agreeing to marry Anthony and his fiance Emilee.
Curtis performed the ceremony over Zoom as Woodle and Emilees family and friends gathered. The actress said Woodle died about an hour after the wedding.
[From PEOPLE]
This is one of those bittersweet celebrity stories. It is touching that Woodle got a chance to meet one of his idols, but heartbreaking that he passed away a couple hours after Jamie Lee officiated his wedding. I think it is wonderful that people like Jamie Lee are honoring their fans in such beautiful ways. I love how Jamie offered to officiate Woodle and Emilees wedding after speaking with them. I also loved that she sent them the My Hand in Yours sculpture which made its way into the ceremony. Jamie Lee tearing up at the end also hit me in the feels.
I hope Emilee is doing well and I send my condolences to her and Woodles family for their loss. I hope that Woodle carried this experience with him when he died. I would like to see more stories like this about celebrities. In the meantime, I hope that this story helps people see that small acts of kindness make the world a better place.
Woodle and Emilees story was covered in the Charlestons Post and Courier newspaper, which Jamie mentioned in her interview.
Heres a clip from that interview:

Jamie Lee Curtis is awesome in Knives Out, I highly recommend it. Theres one scene where her character turns and shows her personality, if you saw it you probably know what Im talking about, which made me go damn! There are so many other great performances and its a truly entertaining murder mystery with excellent characters. Jamie did an interview with Jenna Bush as part of her Open Book series where celebrities talk about their favorite books. Curtis writes childrens book and I didnt realize she has 14 books out until I saw this. Thats impressive. Curtis did say that shes not going to write a memoir, and also that shes scared of Facetime! This was funny to me.
Why she didnt think shed write a book
I barely got out of grade school let alone high school. Academics did not work for me.
As a child do you remember the feeling of reading?
[I remember the book from my childhood] Go Dog Go. Its a book about opposites. In the middle of the book [a dog asks another dog] do you like my hat? My sense of humor was born with that bizarre non sequitur. If I write a [biography] which I never will, I will title it Do you like my hat?
On why shell never do a tell-all book
I will tell nothing. I am going to write a tell nothing book called Do you like my hat? Just funny stories, but still Im never going to write it.
On Facetime and videochatting (it came up in the context of being away from children)
I did find it a little scary. It scares me. I did it once recently with a friend who called me on Facetime. All of a sudden it was on there and I was like ahh! But I understand the great benefit of Facetime.
Do you read mysteries [and horror]?
No Im not a fan of the genre, Im not a fan of those movies. Im very sensitive. I have a startle reflex that has made me a lot of money. Its an irony that I would be known for that genre. Im really quiet.
Her top three favorite books
Stoner by John Williams, Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner and East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
[From The Today Show video]
She talked a lot about childrens books she loved and its clear why she became a childrens author. Curtis is an actress who does TV interviews and videochatting a friend is scary to her! I sort-of agree about Facetime and video on your phone instead of the computer, though. Everyone looks like crap on their phone. I prefer video chatting on the computer, especially when its with new people or youre in a meeting. You can set up the angles and make the lighting perfect ahead of time. On your phone its all jerky, your chin and face look wonky, and its hard to control how you look. When its just a friend who cares though?
Look at this gorgeous bitch. Oh and Jamie Lee posted on Instagram that she complimented a woman at the airport on her hairstyle and that woman pulled out a photo of Jamie she gave to her hairdresser! That photo is below I love that story.

Early morning flight. Complimented a beautiful woman on her haircut. She pulled out a picture she took to her hairdresser of @seanjameshair cut on ME! CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Is that meta? Synchronicity? Destiny? Or just random coincidence.

| Jamie Lee Curtis: spoiling movies for people is like spoiling surprise parties: agree? | Added 4 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I havent seen Knives Out yet and Im really looking forward to it! I plan to watch it before we record the podcast on Thursday so Kaiser and I can have a (spoiler-free) talk about it for the episode coming out next Monday. (Well have two episodes out this month.) I just gave my thoughts on spoilers in this story on M. Night Shyamalan complaining about people spoiling The Sixth Sense twenty years later. I usually dont mind reading spoilers as they dont ruin the movie for me, but I should have qualified that it really depends on what kind of movie it is, and whether I look for spoilers or theyre just sprung on me. In a new panel discussion with Entertainment Weekly (you can see the video on their site), Jamie Lee Curtis calls out people who spoil movies as small minded a-holes (my words) who find joy in ruining things for the rest of us.
The stars of Knives Out think the new whodunit is a dish best served cold.
?Going to this movie cold would be the best thing on earth,? Daniel Craig declares during a Thanksgiving-themed edition of EW?s new Around the Table video series.
Costar Jamie Lee Curtis agrees. ?There?s also something very aggressive, I find, for people who spoil things for people,? she says.
Curtis hypothesizes that people who share spoilers feel they?re in an elevated position ? or ?a weird power trip? ? but says ?in fact, it diminishes you greatly if you really think about it because it makes you very small to ruin the delicious surprise.?
?To ruin it so you somehow look like a smart person? I don?t even know what value ruining a surprise is,? Curtis says. ?It?s like going up to somebody [and] going, ?Oh, you?re going to have a surprise party.? Well, f? you. Thank you so much for ruining what should be a pleasure, and it is a pleasure, so don?t ruin it.?
[From EW]
Shes right for this specific type of spoiling films but Ill play devils advocate for a moment. Its crappy to just burst out with a spoiler in a conversation with someone or in the middle of an article without warning. This is especially true if its a new film or a mystery like Knives Out, where the spoiler/murderer is the plot of the film. I dont mind it at all when a film critic opens with the fact that an article contains spoilers, and then discusses them. Sometimes you have to do that in order to do a deep dive analysis. This type of spoiling Jamie is calling out doing it in order to have a one-up on someone or ruin their experience, is truly crappy. Ive also noticed a new type of spoiling films where people will give random untrue spoilers just to tease people (ok teenagers do this) and thats really annoying.

| Jamie Lee Curtis in McQueen at the Globes: what's going on with her styling' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Do you remember how hot Jamie Lee Curtis looked at the Halloween premiere this fall? (God I loved that movie.) Heres a link to those photos. She had on a menswear-inspired look showing lots of cleavage and her hair was spiky short and cute.
Last night a lot of people loved Jamie Lee Curtis look, particularly her silver hair. The color was amazing but there was something off about the way it was styled and her makeup was wrong. Jamie told Access Hollywood that she bought this white McQueen dress three months ago before she knew her plans. Its a gorgeous white gown, I love how sleek it is and the silver diamond across the front is so cool, but this is an example of how styling makes all the difference. Her coloring is off, her eye makeup is too dark and her lips are too nude plus she needs to do something different with her hair. Im sorry for criticizing this queen but I know how much better she can look!
Nominee Connie Britton was also in white, in a Christian Siriano strapless gown featuring silver beading in a delicate diamond striped pattern. She lost in the Actress in a Limited Series category to Patricia Arquette, who won for Escape at Dannemora. I really liked her look, its safe but kind of perfect for the evening. I have Dirty John on my DVR waiting for me! I listened to the podcast over the holiday and was enthralled.
Speaking of Patricia Arquette, she was in Vivienne Westwood and she looked incredible. During her acceptance speech she put on a pair of bedazzled reading glasses and now I want some. (I wear bifocal contact lenses now, I dont quite need reading glasses, but give it a few months.)
Heres her speech! She got beeped for saying how many f-ing teeth does a person need?
Allison Janney was also in Siriano. She looked a little high to me when she was presenting with Sam Rockwell. Maybe she was just imbibing a bit, that seems to be common at The Globes. This gown is amazing, I love the draping and how it fits her like a glove.
