Jennifer Aniston was famously on the Atkins diet for many, many years. Atkins was massively popular in the ?90s and early ?00s for being low-carb or no-carb and heavy on proteins. Lots of chef?s salads for Aniston, basically. She still followed some variation of low-carb Atkins well after it was the trendiest diet out there. But now, in her 50s, she?s finally eating some carbs. She spoke to People Magazine about her eating habits and how she threw out her back and had to change her fitness training.
Carb Life: These days, Aniston, 52, is adding carbohydrates back into her meals. [I] started to give myself a break, allowing yourself to have pasta, a sandwich. Everyones very afraid of the bread basket, and Im no longer afraid. As long as its all done in moderation.
Carbs made a difference. Theres something my body appreciates about [having carbs], like, Oh, thank you! Why are you depriving me of things I love??
Breakfast & fasting: I kind of naturally do intermittent fasting, just because Im not a breakfast person. I just like a cup of coffee and my collagen.
Throwing out her back: I was hitting a stage in my life where I wanted to up the health game, she explains. But an injury last fall slightly derailed her plans. Back in October my back went out; Id done a really hard workout, and then one day I tried to get up and couldnt. I literally fell to the floor and ended up having to go get an MRI. Sure enough, I had a 9-mm bulging disc, which is really intense. So my whole workout had to change.
Going more for Pilates: Aniston started with Pilates to rehab her back, and is now doing it three to four times a week. It really works your body out in a very gentle way, she says. And the injury taught Aniston to take it easy on her body instead of trying to make her workouts overly complicated. When I threw my back out, I was like, Maybe it was that lunge twist squat move. We cant just do one simple move. We try to add four moves to one, she says.
She wants to get back to running: I havent been able to run, which is my love. Im going to slowly start incorporating that into my workouts again.

I think it was back in 2018, I threw out my back twice in a year and it changed the way I work out too, and it just made me feel so old. Like, I had to sleep in a certain position and the back spasms were a nightmare. I didn?t try Pilates to rehab it though, but I hear that is a gentle way to rehab that kind of injury. Like Aniston, I?m not much of a breakfast person either I used to force myself to eat some yogurt and a banana every morning but I rarely do that anymore. I just need water and then caffeine. That being said, I?m usually super-hungry by lunchtime. Also: can you even imagine avoiding carbs for the better part of 25 years and then suddenly phasing in some pasta and bread? I cannot, because I have zero willpower and I will always love carbs.

Jamie Lee Curtis comes from Hollywood royalty. Her mother was Janet Leigh, who?s arguably most remembered as the woman in the shower from Psycho. But Janet was incredible. She was Meg in the June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor Little Women. She was top billed in Bye Bye Birdie. And my gawd if you?ve never seen her in Touch of Evil or The Manchurian Candidate, please rectify that as soon as possible. Plus, she was as beautiful as she was talented. Jamie?s father was the man-about-town, Tony Curtis. Tony has a list of credits as long as your arm, notably Spartacus, Some Like It Hot, The Great Race, Flesh and Fury and my personal favorite, Operation Petticoat. Both were so iconic to Hollywood that Jamie had to prove herself a worthy heir to the Leigh-Curtis dynasty, not only in talent but in appearance, something the press was very cruel to her about for years. In the latest People podcast, Jamie gives a very different insight to being the child of famous parents. She said the hardest thing for her was watching her parents face aging out of the industry.
Jamie Lee Curtis is revealing what it was like to watch her screen legend parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh grow old in Hollywood.
The two-time Golden Globe winner, 62, appears on this weeks episode of the PEOPLE in the 90s podcast, where she recounts the pair getting face lifts and neck lifts, which prepared her for the harsh reality of aging in the industry.
Im the child of movie stars. I watched my parents get face lifts and neck lifts, Curtis tells PEOPLE in the 90s hosts Jason Sheeler and Andrea Lavinthal. I watched their work diminish, I watched their fame not diminish. And the contradiction of a lot of fame, but not a lot of work, is really hard to navigate for people. Very hard to be famous but not be doing the thing that made you famous. And that for the rest of your life, youre famous for something you did a long time ago, and you chase that attention.

I remember a few photos of both Jamie?s parents post plastic surgery and it did seem they were chasing the clock. If I remember correctly, Janet stopped after a while and let her procedures settle but Tony kept going until the end. I find Jamie?s comments about fame and trying to remain relevant later in one?s career fascinating. It must be devastating when no one thinks you are capable of being the thing that made you impressive. I liked Janet quite a bit. I think she was treated unfairly by Hollywood and definitely by Tony, but she had a great career and then reinvented herself as an author. Although I acknowledge he?s a good actor, I am no fan of Tony as a person, so this is where my mom would tell me to not say anything at all.
Jamie used what she saw her parents go through when making her own career choices. By establishing herself a solid character actor, she was able to age out of the hard body roles she was landing in the ?80s. Plus, she made the brilliant move to return to the Halloween franchise which made her famous. And to Jamie?s credit, I know nepotism helped her career, but even so, she has forged a career independent of her parents and independent of her husband, successful filmmaker Christopher Guest. So Jamie went into this business with her eyes wide open and found her own path.

The ninth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise just came out last week. FATF9 has managed to bring in $70 million so far. I am sure if we werent in a pandemic, that number would be much higher. Vin Diesel appeared on the Kelly Clarkson show last week. Kelly asked Vin if he would do a FATF musical if the opportunity presented itself. Here is where things got interesting, Vin said he would, because he has always wanted to be in a musical. Vin also said that he was almost cast in Steven Spielbergs Guys and Doll reboot. Below are a few more highlights via People:
When host Kelly Clarkson, 39, asked him if hed ever do a musical of the franchise, the actor said, Im dying to do a musical, so yes, I would!
Ive been dying to do a musical my whole life, he continued, revealing he was this close to doing Guys and Dolls with Steven Spielberg, but we ended up not doing that.
He added, For the longest time, I thought the Nathan Detroit role in Guys and Dolls would be a very interesting one to revamp, the one that Frank Sinatra played in Guys and Dolls.
Diesel said he credits his family with his love for the arts, including musicals.
My family is artistic, and Im blessed to have that and Im blessed to be in a family that is supportive of these crazy dreams, he said. I would encourage everyone to support the people who want to think outside the box and dream something impossible because theres great beauty in that.

I find the fact that Vin Diesel was almost in Spielbergs Guys and Dolls fascinating because I do not think Vin has a lot of range. In fact, I was dragging him last week on Twitter because because Vincent explained that his years-long feud with Dwayne The Rock Johnson was due to him giving Dwayne tough love to make Dwayne step up his acting game. The absolute cheek of Vin one emotion Diesel for saying such a thing. We already know that Keanu Reeves has more acting range, but can Vin Diesel sing? Its doubtful, but theres always autotune.
Now that I am done dragging Vinnie, I am not sure if I like the idea of the FATF franchise being turned into a musical unless it has a Grease feel to it. That is the only way I can see a FATF musical working. There will need to be a whole bunch of greasy haired tough guys in leather singing about their cars. It could happen, musicals are seeing a resurgence. As one of the producers of the franchise, I am sure Vin will have some sway in making his dream of a FATF musical a reality. In the meantime, I hope Vin gets some voice lessons to prepare.

Jordana Brewster has a new first person essay for Glamour Magazine in which she describes the breakdown of her marriage to Andrew Form. They separated last summer after being married for 13 years. Jordana and Andrew have two sons together: Julian, 7, and Rowan, 5. Jordana is getting a lot of headlines for being open and honest about her eating disorders. People Magazine has more on that, she both binged and restricted during a time when she knew her marriage wasn?t working and she and her husband were disconnected. I wanted to focus on how she described her new relationship with Mason Morfit, whom she calls the love of her life. Particularly how she explains the way they almost immediately got serious. Heres a segment from the essay where she talks about that.
So, toward the beginning of the pandemic, Andrew and I decided to separate. The combination of being apart for most of the year for many years and growing apart emotionally took its toll.
Mason and I had met once, while we were both still married, four years ago. At a lunch with mutual friends, he sat next to my then husband, and they talked about Hollywood. I?m always shy in new social situations, so I excused myself and wandered around Park City. But I took note of Mason; he was cute, charming. Shortly after that lunch I started following him on Instagram. I enjoyed his sweet, self-deprecating humor. His intelligence made him all the more attractive. He started following me as well. My heart would leap as soon as he liked a post or commented on something I?d written. We had similar backgrounds: We?d grown up abroad, ping-ponging from England to Brazil (me) and Indonesia (him).
Four days after I separated from Andrew, I was on a plane to San Francisco to visit this man I had met only once but who had stayed on my mind. I knew hed been separated for two years. I wanted to see him, to confirm whether the image I?d built up in my mind matched reality. What I got was far more than I expected.
When I landed, Mason was at the bottom of the escalator, holding a sign with my name on it. My heart was fluttering like a hummingbird. I felt at once super panicked but also strangely grounded. I couldn?t help but move toward him. He took me into his arms and we embraced. For five minutes. In our masks. Everyone at the arrival terminal walked around us. During a time when the world avoided all contact, when it was mandated that everyone stay six feet apart, Mason and I blended into each other. I thought, Please kiss me. And he did.
From that day on Mason and I saw each other every other week. We began thinking about how to blend our families. Therapists and friends urged us to slow down, to enjoy the time alone, but we knew this was right. I guess what didn?t work for me last time was working for me now.
Friends asked me about my kids and the toll it would take on them. They saw my decision as sudden, impulsive. The problem was that they didn?t know it was 13 years in the making. What seemed like a huge event was in fact a slow unraveling. They just didn?t look close enough. That, or I?m a good actress.
In my 20s and most of my 30s, I second-guessed every move or decision I made. In my 40s, I know what I value and am proud of decisions I can make on my own. My newfound security helps my kids in the long run. I know that in my heart. I also feel like I finally have a partner.

While she takes pains to say the breakdown of her marriage wasn?t her ex husband?s fault, she also sounds like she?s shading him by saying she finally has a partner. The timeline doesn?t add up for me. Jordana met Mason once when they were both married to other people, she added him on Instagram and they liked and commented on each others posts for a few years. Then she flew to meet him four days after she was separated? They must have been flirting pretty hard over Instagram. Some people consider it cheating when youre not working things out with your partner and spend a lot of emotional energy on someone else. I?m not saying that?s what happened, just that this story doesn?t make sense unless shes been communicating with him for years.
A lot of people say ?when you know you know? and it happens this way for some couples. It sounds like Jordanas friends were just looking out for her by telling her to take her time.
