Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie arriving in Italy ahead of the Venice Film Festival premiere of Maria. She stars as Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain?s latest biographical film. Angelina wore a ?short-sleeve trench coat? as she arrived in Venice, and Vogue is obsessed with the summer trench and her Mulberry boots. Fingers crossed that Angelina doesn?t promote this film in a variety of sack dresses. Meanwhile, it?s looking pretty certain that Angelina will also go to Canada for the Toronto Film Festival. Not for Maria, but for the film she directed, Without Blood. Not only will she premiere Without Blood at TIFF, she?s also receiving the TIFF Tribute Award. Good!
Angelina Jolie is set to receive the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
The Oscar-winning actress will be honored on Sept. 8 at the TIFF fundraiser, while also bringing her latest film, Without Blood, to Toronto for a world premiere. Written, directed and produced by Jolie, Without Blood is a war drama based on the Alessandro Baricco novel of the same name and tells the story of a girl?s quest for revenge and healing during a time of conflict. Salma Hayek Pinault and Demin Bichir have lead roles.
Jolie will be feted alongside fellow trophy winners Amy Adams, Jharrel Jerome, Cate Blanchett, Mike Leigh, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clment Ducol, and Camille and Zhao Tao. TIFF Tribute Award honorees tend to have films in Toronto?s official lineup.
Jolie also brought her earlier films First They Killed My Father and The Breadwinner, which she executive produced, to Toronto for launches.
[From THR]
Jolie fans, I really hope that we have an amazing fall and an amazing awards season. I don?t have a sense of how Without Blood will be received, but the early buzz on Maria is that it will be an awards contender. I think Angelina will probably promote both films concurrently, and it will help if Without Blood gets some critical buzz too. So many red carpets! So many capes and sack dresses! I?m so excited. As for this TIFF award? yeah, they pass these out like candy, but still, it?s nice. I?m glad she?s being honored.

| | VF: Angelina Jolie gives a 'defining, crowning, staggering performance' as Maria Callas | | Added 452 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Pablo Larrain?s Maria will premiere at the Venice Film Festival this week, reportedly on Thursday. This is Angelina Jolie?s first starring role in several years, and her first period drama in more than a decade. Maria also marks the third film in Larrain?s trilogy of ?tragic and famous women,? following Jackie and Spencer. Angelina plays Maria Callas, the American opera singer who mostly worked and lived in Europe as an adult. Callas also famously had an affair with Aristotle Onassis and he treated her very badly. Well, Vanity Fair had a great ?awards insider? exclusive with Larrain, and this is doing so much to get people hyped for the film. Some highlights:
How Larrain approached Angelina: Pablo Larran had met Angelina Jolie a few times over the years, and hoped one day to make a movie with her. In 2021, just as he?d wrapped post-production on Spencer, his disorienting portrait of Princess Diana, the Chilean director had found just the project?his next English-language movie. ?I talked to Angie and said, ?Look, I?d like to make a movie with you. I won?t tell you what it is, but please go and see Spencer,?? he tells me. Larran rented out a screening room on the Paramount lot for Jolie to see the movie, featuring Kristen Stewart in an Oscar-nominated turn, and awaited Jolie?s reaction. She watched, called him up, raved and raved, and told him she wanted to work together. Larran did not hesitate in his reply: ?Would you play Maria Callas??
She took a few days to decided to do it: Jolie was taken aback. She took a few days to think about it. She had just been asked to portray one of the most renowned opera singers of the 20th century by a filmmaker known for creating emotionally intense, unrelenting, and dreamlike character studies. By the time she said yes, though, she?d fallen in love with the idea?. Larran, who grew up going to the opera in Santiago with his mother, immersed himself in Callas?s voice and devised a ?musical map? for the film, with her work providing the movie?s entire soundscape. And Jolie began her own training, which lasted over six months in total?and resulted in a defining, crowning, at times staggering performance.
The bulk of the movie is set in ?70s Paris near the end of Callas?s life: ?She became the sum of the tragedies that she played on stage,? Larran says. ?The movie is about someone who, after dedicating her life to the audiences around the world that would listen to her, decides to find her own voice, her own identity, and finally do something just for herself.?
Jolie?s performance: Jolie?s approach to her character is simultaneously heartbreaking, erratic, and imposing, displaying a cellular kind of understanding of Callas?s desperation to reclaim herself before it?s too late. ?This is the greatest diva of the 20th century, and who could play that?? Larran says. ?I didn?t want to work with someone that didn?t have that already. I needed an actress who would naturally and organically be that diva, carry that weight, be that presence. Angelina was there.? He describes her preparation as ?very long, very particular, very difficult.? She worked on posture. She studied breathing. She developed an accent befitting a woman of both the world and another plane of fame. Then came the voice lessons.
Angelina?s voice is mixed with Callas? voice: Yes, that really is Angelina Jolie singing, although not just her. Larran and his star worked closely with Oscar winner John Warhurst (Bohemian Rhapsody, the upcoming Michael), who as Larran puts it has ?dedicated his life to actors who sing in movies,? to create innovative, synthesized recordings. Over months, Jolie learned her subject?s cadence and her signatures. Eventually, she got to the point where she?d hear the operas in an earpiece while singing them herself. Larran and Warhurst would record Jolie?s performance, then mix it with Callas?s. ?You always listen to Angelina and you always listen to Maria Callas,? as Larran puts it. ?When we listen to Maria Callas in her prime, most of the sound is Callas?90%, 95%?and when we listen to Callas older and in the present, almost all of it is Angelina.?
Larrain didn?t give Jolie many notes: A few weeks in, Larran stopped giving Jolie instructions. The best direction was silence; the best note was no note. ?It was so truthful, we just kept rolling and let her do her thing,? he says. ?She can let you in when she wants, and she can create a distance where she wants. It?s a dance of vulnerability.?
[From Vanity Fair]
Larrain really has become something of a self-styled ?women?s director.? Kristen Stewart and Natalie Portman raved about working with him and he is known for creating a lot of artistic intimacy with his leading ladies and giving them space and time to do their best work. All of which to say, I hope Maria is as good as VF makes it sound, and I hope Angelina gets a real awards campaign. It?s been a while since she?s been part of an awards-bait film. One cool thing is that if she does end up doing the whole awards season rigmarole, she?ll probably wear a lot of fashion from her sustainable Atelier Jolie line.

| | Lily Allen slams reactions 'to clickbait articles' about her rehoming adopted puppy | | Added 452 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Lily Allen stepped in it again last week when she admitted on her podcast that she?d given away the rescue puppy that she and husband David Harbour adopted during the pandemic. Lily was showing her guest, Welsh TV host Steve Jones, a picture of a dog that she and David were looking at adopting. Steve asks her if they?re ready for that commitment and she responds, ?We did adopt a dog together already but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home.? She then went on to explain that the dog, named Mary, had eaten her and her two children?s passports and visas, which cost her a lot of money to replace and prevented her children from being able to visit their father in London for several months.
After the podcast aired, there was a pretty big backlash against Lily online. From what I saw, most people were calling her out for laughing about giving the dog back. Apparently, it didn?t stop there, though. Lily released a long statement via Twitter on Monday morning, pushing back on the way the story had been portrayed by the media, calling it ?deliberately distorted.? She also shared that she?s received a lot of hateful messages, as well as ?death threats? as a result of the coverage. The statement also explains and clarifies the entire situation and then begs people to stop reacting to every clickbaity thing they read.
Allen began with a quote from her Miss Me? podcast, on which she originally discussed giving up the adopted pet. We tried very hard and for a very long time, she said, but the passports were the straw that broke the camels back.
She continued in her statement, This is the part of the podcast that the tabloids decided not to quote in their articles about me dumping my puppy. People have been furiously reacting to a deliberately distorted cobbling together of quotes designed to make people angry and as a result, Ive received some really abhorrent messages including death threats. Some of the most disgusting comments have been all over my social media channels, and Im really not surprised because this is exactly what those articles are designed to do.
We rescued our puppy Mary from a shelter in NY and we loved her very much, but she developed pretty severe separation anxiety and would act out in all manner of ways, Allen wrote in her statement. She couldnt be left alone for more than 10 mins. She had three long walks a day ? two by us and one with a local dog walker and several other dogs. We worked with the shelter that we rescued her from and they referred us to a behavioral specialist and a professional trainer. It was a volunteer from the shelter who would come and dog-sit her when we were away, and after many months and much deliberation everyone was in agreement that our home wasnt the best fit for Mary.
Allen went on to say that shes had rescue dogs pretty consistently throughout her life and had never been accused of mistreating an animal, so the past few days had been very distressing. She ended her statement with a plea for people to stop acting on clickbait articles when you havent done your due diligence, referencing the recent racially driven xenophobic riots in the U.K. that she said were spurred on by distorted propaganda.
Its just all so toxic and I know that we can do better, she said.
[From Entertainment Weekly]
I listened to the original clip of Lily telling the story about Mary. On one hand, if you just take the one sound bite, it does come across like she is being very flippant about getting rid of the dog. The passport context is there, but she says things like, ?I just couldn?t look at her?I was like, ?You?ve ruined my life.?? I understand how some people without the clickbait titles could get upset. Also, and this is just a general reminder, don?t keep important, hard-to-replace documents laying around when there are children, pets, or even guests around to potentially destroy them.
On the other hand, sometimes people and animals just don?t click because they?re not the right fit. Lily?s full explanation about using a behavioral specialist and professional trainer to help with Mary?s anxiety makes the whole situation make a lot more sense. I?m glad that she clarified that the puppy was rehomed within a day to people that she knew. Wherever Mary is now, I hope she?s living her best life, full of treats and cuddles.

| | Naomi Watts is releasing a book on menopause: 'Women have had to suffer in silence' | | Added 453 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Naomi Watts has been open about her experiences with early menopause for years. She was one of the first celebrities to discuss it, and has said shed like to lift the stigma and silence surrounding menopause. Naomi has a new book coming out on January 21, 2025 titled Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish Id Known about Menopause. It deals with menopause and aging in general. Naomi will tell stories from her life and feature conversations with friends and experts. The book is meant to feel like an intimate chat with a close friend.
?Women have had to suffer in silence and shame for too long about the changes they undergo during menopause, with little access to information, support or even much of an open conversation,? Watts tells PEOPLE exclusively. ?I hope that this book can play a part in making women feel a little less alone, a little more supported, and dare I say, a little more excited about the natural changes that life has in store for us.?
Dare I Say It is the resource Watts ? already a leading voice in menopause awareness ? craved when at age 36, she found herself completely caught off guard by menopause symptoms, which typically begin between ages 45 and 55, per the National Institutes of Health.
Feeling confused, alone and unsupported about this stage of her life, Watts was determined to do better for herself and for other women and began boldly using her platform to normalize conversations about this natural process,? reads a press release about the forthcoming book.
?I want this book to read like you?re sitting down over coffee and having an intimate chat with your girlfriend,? Watts said, in a statement. ?I hope it will be of help for anyone trying to get a hold on this phase of life and make it a time of liberation rather than purely a time of trial. Menopause is a part of a woman?s midlife, but midlife is about far more than menopause.?
Watts also tells PEOPLE that she is ?so grateful to everyone who spoke to me for sharing their stories.?
In a message to her future readers, she adds, ?I can?t wait for you to hear about the highs and lows and everything in between about this life stage and get some real, practical advice and comfort about how to take on these changes head-on.?
Dare I Say It is a natural next step for Watts, who founded her menopausal wellness brand, Stripes Beauty, in 2022. Speaking with PEOPLE about the brand earlier this year, the star said, ?I know I had shame and fear and doubt. Chances are that a lot of other people are going through the same thing.?
I had a lot of anxiety in the lead up to creating this business, and then I just felt like, well, every woman is going to get to this point. Why are we not getting better care? she added at the time. Theres just a lack of education and research.
[From People]
I just turned 40 and I already have anxiety about entering perimenopause. I?m halfway through Dr. Jen Gunter?s The Menopause Manifesto and last month, I started adjusting my workouts accordingly. I also am really focused on my nutrition, too. I do think that, as with every topic involving women?s reproductive health, a lack of education about what to expect beyond getting hot flashes and not being able to sleep. I?ve learned a lot about what to expect from my body, but there really are so many women out there that are either too embarrassed or made to feel shame when it comes to learning about their bodies. I think it?s great when celebrities are open about such topics because they can reach more people in general. Even more so, I love that these types of stories open it up for us to share our stories!

| | ?Ted Lasso' will come back for a fourth season with much of the same cast | | Added 453 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Ted Lasso?s third season ended in May 2023. I loved the first two seasons but I absolutely loathed the third season. It felt like Jason Sudeikis?s personal situation affected every part of the show, from the writing to the decisions about all of the characters to the way everything ?wrapped up.? It was no secret that Jason was basically the only one who wanted the show to end, the rest of the actors and writers would have loved to keep going. There were rumors about a spinoff starring Hannah Waddingham?s Rebecca and there were other rumors that AppleTV+ basically went to Jason and said ?name your price, we want more Lasso.? Well, now that everyone is more than a year removed from the Lasso finale, they?re deciding to do a ?fourth season.? Hmm.
Ted Lasso fans, this is not a drill. In a major step toward the long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV+?s hugely popular soccer comedy, the series? studio Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members who had been contracted under the aegis of the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein, who plays hardman Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.
After securing the trio, the studio is expected to start reaching out to Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired, so they will need to make new deals, we hear. In addition to co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), that is believed to include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). We hear one of the Ted Lasso OGs, Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart), has not been picked up, presumably due to a conflict with another series; he is on both Prime Video?s The Devil?s Hour and Apple?s Surface.
It is unclear which other stars may be approached about Season 4; the cast have all said repeatedly that they would be happy to reprise their roles if an opportunity arises. Many would likely pop in for guest appearances.
Getting the cast back paves the way toward a Season 4 greenlight, contingent on budget approval and scheduling as actors whose options have lapsed may have joined other series that have them in first position, sources said.
Starting the process for a Season 4 greenlight indicates that the main Ted Lasso driving force on and off-screen, Sudeikis, is on board for a new installment as the studio would not have proceeded without his consent. The fate of Ted Lasso has always hinged on Sudeikis, who?d originated the character in NBC Sports videos. While being open that they would love to extend Ted Lasso, one of the biggest and most acclaimed comedies of the past decade, Apple and Warner Bros. executives have made it clear that it would be up to Sudeikis whether the show would continue.
[From Deadline]
In the dreamlike final sequence where we saw what happens to the characters, it felt like they were setting up a post-Ted Lasso series in Richmond. That was what most of the conversations were about last year, all of the potential spinoffs now that the Ted character is back in Kansas. I wonder how they?ll explain Lasso?s potential return to Richmond? Suddenly his kid doesn?t need him anymore? His ex-wife is still banging their marriage counselor? Rebecca and Roy can?t manage the football club without him and they beg him to return? Or will Ted see the light and come to the conclusion that, actually, Richmond is his home and he needs to go home? This is why I would tune in, to see how they resolve Ted?s return to Richmond and what ?happened? to everyone in the two years Ted was back in Kansas. I also wonder what happened with Sudeikis he was so burned out on Lasso and he was phoning in his performance in the third season. Maybe he just needed a real break and now he?s ready to come back.

| | Halle Berry on working with Pierce Brosnan: he restored my faith in men | | Added 453 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|

|
|
|
Halle Berry is busy promoting her new Netflix movie, The Union. My husband and I watched it last weekend. I liked it, but he did not. It followed the basic format of its genre and I correctly guessed the back-half of the movie?s plot twist within the first five minutes, lol. That was exactly what I was looking for in that movie and it hit its marks. Plus, I appreciated that almost every actor who was playing a spy in it was over 40.
Anyway, Halle did one of Wireds Autocomplete Interviews, which features celebrities answering questions about themselves that have been taken from Google?s autocomplete search results. One of the questions Halle was asked was, ?What James Bond movie was Halle Berry in?? (Halle played Bond Girl ?Jinx? in Die Another Day.) In her answer, Halle responded with some high praise for Pierce Brosnan, who was playing Bond at the time. According to her, Pierce is such a wonderful human being that he restored her faith in men.
What James Bond movie was Halle Berry in? That would be Die Another Day with Pierce Brosnan, Berry said in the video, in response to a prompt derived from Google searches with her name. He will always be my Bond, always.
I am a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie, she added. There couldnt be a human who is more of a gentleman than Pierce Brosnan.
Die Another Day marked Brosnans fourth and final turn playing British spy Bond. He first played the role in 1995s GoldenEye, and Daniel Craig memorably took on the part following Brosnan, beginning with 2006s Casino Royale. In Die Another Day, Berry played an American intelligence agent named Jinx. The movie released six months after Berry won her Academy Award for her role in 2001s Monsters Ball.
Bond wasnt on my wishlist, no, to be in one, but I loved the movies always, Berry further recalled of making the movie while speaking with Wired. But having been in one, I feel like Im a part of cinematic history. Those movies are iconic, they will forever be a part of our history, and Im really honored to have been part of one, especially with Pierce.
Berry has noted Brosnans kindness towards her on the movies set in the past, including in 2020, when she shared during an appearance on The Tonight Show that Brosnan once saved her from choking while they filmed a scene together.
?I was supposed to be all sexy and and seduce him with a fig,? she said at the time. ?And then he had to get up and do the Heimlich. So not sexy. You should?ve seen it ? James Bond knows how to Heimlich.?
?He was there for me, she added of Brosnan during that interview. He will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.
Berrys appearance in Die Another Day proved popular enough that the producers behind the Bond movies began working on a spinoff movie for her character, but as Variety reported in September 2020, the studio decided not to move forward with the idea.
?It was very disappointing. It was ahead of its time, she told the outlet of the idea at that time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren?t sure of its value. That?s where we were then.?
[From People]
I didnt know that Halle has spoken about how great Pierce is before. That is crazy that he had to perform the Heimlich on her! I looked up what was going on in Halle?s life around the time that she was filming Die Another Day and she was married to Eric Bent at the time. I?m glad Pierce treated her with kindness and respect on set. In response to Halle?s comments, people have been sharing stories on Twitter about their positive experiences with Pierce, from randomly running into him while out and about to confirming that he?s ?lovely? to crew members on set. In an age where so many actors have ended up being problematic, it?s really refreshing to hear stories of the good ones. Between Doug Emhoff, Gov. Walz, and now Pierce Brosnan, tonic masculinity is having quite the week.
Right now, Pierce is busy filming the film adaptation of one of my favorite new book series, ?The Thursday Murder Club.? He?s playing Ron, which I wasn?t behind at first, but am absolutely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt now. I cant wait for that movie, especially since were going to have to wait so long for book five.
Sometimes I'll see a headline about Pierce Brosnan and think "Surely, he isn't *still* that handsome." and I am always wrong. pic.twitter.com/ISOh4U6sGd

|
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin-Bieber have welcomed their first child. They welcomed baby boy Jack Blues Bieber on Friday. Thoughts on the name? Growing up, I didn?t know any Jacks, but that?s changed over time. People name their sons ?John? and call him Jack, or they just flat-out make their son?s legal name Jack or Jackson or Jax or whatever. It feels super-common these days and I?m sure Jack Bieber will have several classmates named Jack or Jackson. People Mag says there?s an important thing happening with the initials too:
Justin and Hailey Bieber are keeping their family name alive! On Friday, Aug. 23, the couple announced the arrival of their baby boy, Jack Blues Bieber ? continuing a sweet Bieber family tradition of naming him with the initials ?JB.?
WELCOME HOME JACK BLUES BIEBER,? Juston, 30, wrote in a post on Instagram while sharing a close-up shot of the baby?s foot. Hailey, 27, reshared the post on her Instagram Stories as she added a bear and blue heart emoji.
The family tradition of naming their son with the initials ?JB? is one that has continued in Justin?s side of the family for a couple of generations now, as the singer has the same initials, along with his dad, Jeremy Bieber, and some of his siblings.
Justin?s half-sister Jazmyn Bieber, 16, and half-brother, Jaxon Bieber, 14, also have the same initials. Both siblings are the children of Jeremy and his ex Erin Wagner.
The singer also named his son Jack after his father?s middle name in another sentimental tribute.
Justin?s dad Jeremy and mom Pattie Mallette, split a few months before he was born in 1994.
[From People]
Thoughts on the father giving every child his initials? The Duggars do that. Jim-Bob Duggar?s children all have J-names. If you?re stuck on choosing a J-name, why not Jacob, Julian or Jasper? I don?t know. Anyway, I?m happy for Hailey and Justin. I hope the delivery went well and mother and baby are okay. I hope Justin commits himself to being a hands-on father and a supportive husband too. I also hope he doesn?t pressure her to have another baby right away.

| | Angelina Jolie is the new face of Tom Ford's revamped lipstick line | | Added 455 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Look at this! Angelina Jolie is the new face of Tom Ford Beauty, specifically representing their lipstick line. Angelina has done high-profile ad campaigns before, and she?s currently the face of Guerlain perfume (and she?s godmother to Guerlain?s Women for Bees program). I?ve always wondered if Angelina has gotten significant beauty-contract offers for years and she?s turned them down for various reasons. But this year, she?s got an Oscar-bait movie (Maria) and she probably wanted the money from a lucrative beauty contract, so here we are. WWD had the exclusive and I found the business side of this fascinating:
It?s full steam ahead for makeup at Tom Ford Beauty, starting with a renewed focus on lip and a top-tier spokesperson. Angelina Jolie, the brand?s first-ever celebrity face for beauty, will front Runway Lip Color, which rolls out globally in full distribution in September with 18 shades ? 10 existing, eight new. It replaces the existing Lip Color lipsticks franchise. The refresh also entails Runway Lip Pencils, available in eight shades. Prices range from $46 for the pencils to $62 for the lipsticks.
The push comes at a pivotal time for the business. An SEC filing from parent company the Este Lauder Cos., which acquired Tom Ford for $2.3 billion in 2023, noted that in the fiscal year 2024, ?net sales [for makeup] from Tom Ford decreased, primarily driven by lower net sales from the lip subcategory.?
The health of the business depends on getting lip back on track. It is among the largest categories of the business overall after fragrance, and the largest of Tom Ford?s makeup offering, said Guillaume Jesel, the brand?s president and chief executive officer, who assumed the top slot last year after nearly a decade working on the brand.
Ford departed the company last year, and was succeeded by Peter Hawkings as the helm of its creative leadership. Hawkings announced his departure last month. Jesel declined to comment on the search for new creative talent, but did say, ?together with the creative director and the licensees, we have to uphold [Ford?s] vision.?
Jesel?s mandate is ?to continue to run Tom Ford as a united brand across verticals and unify the strategy, the brand codes, the innovation across fashion, beauty and eyewear,? he said. ?We need to attract world-class talent, and that means in the creative product development and marketing.?
To that end, Jolie?s campaign, lensed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, echoes Ford?s own work as an auteur. ?In terms of the celebrity aspect, the connection of film is something that?s been there naturally. Tom is a filmmaker and he shot a lot of his own photography,? said Jesel. ?The connection to film and the cinematic aspect of the visual imagery that he created for this brand set it aside from anyone else and has been integral to our DNA.?
In the visuals, Jolie sports hero shade Scarlet Rouge. ?It?s a beautiful color and texture,? Jolie said via email. ?A good red lip needs little else. It?s worn with intention. That was part of the discussion.?
Her appeal mimics the wide net Jesel is casting with the relaunch. ?She appeals to a broad demographic, and she has global appeal. We are branded very internationally, and are well diversified around the world. And her appeal to Gen Z is very interesting,? he said.
In September, stills of the campaign will roll out, followed by a film in October. ?Lip is a category that is used in public, and when we talk about makeup, we talk about the power of transformation for makeup and finding a different persona in yourself,? Jesel said.
[From WWD]
Basically, the Tom Ford brand needed a huge star to reboot their Beauty line and Angelina is a global star who tested well across several demographics. ?Her appeal to Gen Z is very interesting? I?ve noticed that too. Younger people who didn?t grow up in the Brangaloonie Wars see Angelina as a cool person and a ?mother.? It probably helps that she?s actually a mother to several Gen Z kids. Also: once you see it together, you?re like, oh, right, Angelina has some of the most famous lips in the world, how has she never done a lipstick campaign before now? I?m looking forward to the ?film? too I wonder where they filmed it. For some of her Guerlain campaigns, she got them to film at her home in Cambodia. I wonder if this campaign is more LA/Hollywood/vamp.

Wolfs is the Jon Watts film starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. It will soon premiere at the Venice Film Festival and Clooney and Pitt will go all-out at the Venice premiere. Pitt might even walk his first red carpet with Inez de Ramon. All eyes will be on Venice because not only will Wolfs premiere there, but Angelina Jolie?s Oscar-bait film Maria is also scheduled to premiere, and Angelina will likely show up too. So, that was supposed to be the buzz/controversy. The problem? Wolfs was produced by AppleTV+ and the initial plan was to give Wolfs a full theatrical release before putting it on streaming. That plan changed this month, and now Wolfs is only getting a limited theatrical release for just ONE WEEK before it?s put on steaming. LMAO. I mean, I was going to skip it too (mute challenge both Clooney and Pitt) but this is too rich.
Three years ago, Hollywood started buzzing about an untitled movie project getting shopped around town, written and directed by Jon Watts and set to star George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Every studio in town was reportedly bidding on the film, and eventually, when Apple secured the distribution rights, a priority in the plan was made clear: a ?robust theatrical release,? as Deadline put it. That was woven into the deal between the filmmakers and the studio, with Sony Pictures later attached to handle theatrical distribution. Just last year, Clooney said, ?Brad and I made the deal to do that movie where we gave money back to make sure that we had a theatrical release.? And when the film, later titled Wolfs, was announced to make its world premiere at this year?s Venice Film Festival, everything seemed to have fallen into place along those lines.
Plans, however, can change fast in Hollywood. Earlier this month, Apple announced that Wolfs? wide theatrical release had been canceled, with plans instead to put it out on a handful of big screens for just a week before streaming it on Apple TV+ starting September 27. Across the Atlantic, plans for theater runs were scrapped entirely. This wasn?t for lack of faith in the movie, exactly, as the studio confirmed plans to make a sequel in the same breath.
Speaking with Vanity Fair in the aftermath of the pivot, Watts says in no uncertain terms that he made this movie for the big screen?and that?s evident in the final product. Watts is careful with his words as to his own feelings around the current release situation, but confirms he found out about the change only days before the rest of the world did. He also makes clear where his priorities are. ?What it really takes is for the people that pay for the movies to back theatrical distribution,? he says. ?It?s not up to the filmmakers. Filmmakers have been making great movies.?
?When we initially made the deal, when I was pitching it to everyone, that was before the last Spider-Man came out. So that was when the entire existential future of theatrical movie going was still up in the air. From that point on, the theatrical experience has really made an impression on me, of how valuable this thing is and how important it is. I always thought of this as a theatrical movie. We made it to be seen in theaters, and I think that?s the best way to see it. It?s funny. It?s filled with twists and turns. I tried to do some interesting things visually and I still think that the best way to see it is in theaters.?
[From Vanity Fair]
Granted, a lot of films, actors and filmmakers are getting screwed over by last-minute decisions to bury a film or not give a film a theatrical release. This is not some outlier situation these days in Hollywood. But it?s still brutal and it?s still funny. Brad and George thought they were promoting a buddy-comedy/action movie which would give them both a much-needed hit. Instead, their big reunion project has been shuffled off to streaming at the last minute. George is too old, he should step down from Hollywood, he doesn?t have the juice anymore. Brad?s been juiceless since he terrorized and abused his family in 2016.

Well, Jennifer Lopez?s fourth marriage is done. People give her a lot of grief about her marriages and divorces, but she?s 55 years old? It?s not like she?s been married back-to-back four times and she?s only 30 years old or something. At least she?s spread them out. The biggest break between marriages was post-Marc Anthony. She needed to heal, she needed to get right and get her career back. She dated that backup dancer for years, then she was engaged to Alex Rodriquez, and then Ben stole her away from A-Rod. Who is next? I have no idea, but I suspect that there will be another one. Maybe not a husband, but definitely a boyfriend. Still, right now, Jennifer is mourning. Sources close to Jennifer previously told People Mag that ?she?s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn?t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage. He hasn?t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It?s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.? Here?s a follow-up:
Jennifer Lopez is taking control. Hours after the singer, 55, filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on Tuesday, Aug. 20, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively that Lopez was done waiting.
She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken, adds the source. The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.?
Multiple sources previously confirmed that Lopez, whos mom to 16-year-old twins Emme and Max, filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court and listed their date of separation as April 26, 2024.
Lopez and Affleck ? who is dad to Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 (with ex-wife Jennifer Garner) ? have spent much of their summer apart. Another insider close to Lopez tells PEOPLE that the star is ready to move on from Affleck, 52.

I think she is heartbroken, completely. Watching her stupid This Is Me? Now musical and The Greatest Love Story Never Told documentary, you could see that she genuinely believed that this was it, that this was her last marriage, that Ben was The One. In her mind, she was celebrating the idea that their love was real and they found their way back to each other. Everything fell apart as she was making those projects, I absolutely believe that.
People Mag also confirms that Jennifer began looking for her own separate house in LA in April. She listed April 26th as their separation date, so there was some kind of falling out or fight or something that month.
