What does this Blake Lively stuff remind you of? For me, it?s sort of like the Hilaria Baldwin stuff in late 2020 and early 2021 suddenly, people were going back through all of Hilaria?s old interviews and doing deep dives on all of the Hilaria-was-never-Spanish lore. While Blake Lively never lied about being ?from Spain,? there is a similar deep-dive into the gossip history around Blake. Like? what was up with Blake and Leighton Meester on Gossip Girl? They apparently didn?t get along at all towards the latter part of the series, so much so they the would barely even speak to each other. The Mail is on the case go here to read.
Meanwhile, the current Blake situation is that we still don?t know exactly what went down between Blake, Justin Baldoni and the cast of It Ends With Us. Many people around the production maintain this idea that Baldoni and Lively?s larger falling out happened in postproduction, especially when Blake brought in her own editor to create IEWU: The Lively Cut. It was also clear (to me) that Team Blake had already started an increasingly loud whisper campaign about Baldoni, one which scared him enough to hire a crisis management team this week. Well, speaking of all of that, the Hollywood Reporter has an interesting piece about the studio giving a lot of full-throated support for Blake, especially after she screened IEWU: The Lively Cut to Colleen Hoover?s groupies in Texas in June.
In mid-June, star-producer Blake Lively traveled to Dallas to attend author Colleen Hoover?s Book Bonanza for a Q&A in the lead-up to the August release It Ends With Us. Lively surprised the 2,000-plus attendees when she announced they could screen a rough cut of the movie adaptation the following night. The screening of the movie ? the first of Hoover?s popular novels to hit the screen ? proved to be a stroke of marketing genius for Sony, which bought rights to release the movie from Wayfarer Studios, whose co-founder, Justin Baldoni, both directed and stars in the film.
?Colleen Hoover?s Book Bonanza and her fans sparked the fire that was the beginning of the cultural movement,? says Josh Greenstein, a veteran marketer and president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
Absent, however, from the Dallas gathering was Baldoni. The version shown that night was Lively?s preferred rough cut of the movie.
By the time the movie opened Aug. 9, an ugly war had erupted on TikTok and other social media platforms pitting Baldoni and Lively against each other. Many took aim at Lively, despite reports that some cast and crewmembers, including Lively, felt uncomfortable over Baldoni?s behavior on set.
Sony is fully in sync with Lively. ?Blake, Colleen and so many women put so much effort into this remarkable movie, working selflessly from the start to ensure that such an important subject matter was handled with care. Audiences love the movie. Blake?s passion and commitment to advancing the conversation around domestic violence is commendable,? Sony Pictures Entertainment Chair-CEO Tony Vinciquerra told The Hollywood Reporter. ?We love working with Blake, and we want to do 12 more movies with her.?
Sony?s marketing campaign ? in staying true to Hoover?s book ? conveyed that It Ends With Us isn?t a story of victimhood, but a story of redemption. It traverses falling in love, becoming an entrepreneur, friendship and family, alongside pain and trauma. ?Lily is a survivor and a victim, but that doesn?t define her, as she is in charge of her identity and her story. These themes were important to the campaign,? says one source connected to the film?s rollout.
Sources have told THR that there was a fracture between Baldoni and Lively in the postproduction stage, wherein two different cuts of the movie emerged. Lively commissioned a cut of the movie from editor Shane Reid, who was an editor on Deadpool & Wolverine, according to multiple sources.

This reads to me like why Baldoni hired crisis managers in the first place, because he was afraid he was going to get squished by the studio taking Blake?s side and throwing him under the bus. Sony is obviously doing the most to stay on Blake?s good side, and not only that, Sony is seemingly doing a lot (here and behind-the-scenes) to keep the arguments from devolving into petty, personal attacks. It suits everyone involved if the story is ?Blake and Justin disagreed about which edit to use, that?s the big problem? rather than ?Justin fat-shamed Blake and gave her a lingering kiss? or ?Blake is a mean-girl bully.?

Mariska Hargitay is a really, really good egg. Not only has she been delighting us as Captain Olivia Benson for 25 years on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, she?s spent that tenure bringing her work home with her in the most productive and impactful way possible. Moved by fans recounting their rape survival stories to her, Mariska established the Joyful Heart Foundation, through which she launched the End the Backlog initiative that discovered hundreds of thousands of untested rape kits in police stations across the country. In working to reform rape kit usage, Mariska met prosecutor Kym Worthy. In fact, Mariska helped secure the funding necessary to test 11,000 kits Kym had found in a Michigan evidence room, which led to solving thousands of sex crimes in that state alone. Dateline host Andrea Canning just appeared on the Today show to tout the latest Dateline podcast that focuses on Kym and Mariska?s work:
Mariska Hargitay hasn?t reserved her impressive detective skills for the TV screen ? she also solves some cases in real life too.
Recently, Dateline NBC?s Andrea Canning joined the Today show to discuss the newest episode of Dateline True Crime Weekly and revealed that Hargitay, 60, helped one Michigan prosecutor with thousands of sexual assault cases.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star funded prosecutor Kym Worthy on her path to solving thousands of cases. Worthy first discovered that over 11,000 untested rape kits were sitting on a shelf in an evidence room. She took matters into her own hands and worked to get all of them tested.
However, money was needed to get all of these kits tested, and as Canning said, ?So, who stepped in? None other than Law and Order?s Mariska Hargitay.?
Canning, 51, explained that the actress ?helped them raise the money to get this done.? As a result, thousands of cases were solved and they discovered 22 serial rapists.
The Dateline broadcaster also noted that Worthy and Hargitay?s work is ?having a ripple effect across the country [and] is making changes everywhere ? for police departments and for prosecutors? offices.?
This isn?t Hargitay?s first time assisting real law enforcement. Earlier this year, in April, while filming one of the final episodes of season 25 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, she was approached by a little girl who believed her to be a real police officer based on the badge she wore as part of her character?s outfit.
At the time, a witness told PEOPLE that the little girl had been separated from her mother in the Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park and asked the actress for help. Hargitay obliged and then halted production for 20 minutes to help the child locate her mother and to console them both.
The witness noted that the young girl was both oblivious to the film crew and Hargitay?s scene partner, Ice-T.

Everytime we get to cover Mariska Hargitay it is such a tonic. Her goodness is so authentic! There?s no inflated ego, or sense that she?s doing this for her own PR. By her own account, she felt like her acting job opened a door to work she had no prior intention of pursuing, but could not turn away from once it entered her life. She?s previously described it as ?I didn?t take this job on SVU to do this work. But I think I was meant to do this.? The older I get the more I see that as an art in itself: to be able to embrace a path that takes you by surprise. I?m also now really hoping that we see Mariska at the convention next week. She?s such a strong advocate for the biggest issues at stake in this election: women?s rights and reproductive rights. You know, normal things.

Have I gotten really good at ignoring Kim Kardashian or has she been relatively quiet for months? She appeared at the Met Gala in May, she went to a wedding in India and? like, there?s been no real news or gossip about her in a while? Minus the gossip about how she sliced the top of her finger off. All of which to say, Kim has been out and about in New York this week and it feels like we haven?t seen her in months.
She wore a Miu Miu ensemble out to the Polo Bar (yellow sleeveless top and brown pants). North West is also with her on this trip, as is their dog?? Let me look this up? North West has two Pomeranians, Sushi and Sake. I hope North is taking good care of those dogs because Kim has a terrible track record with pets (RIP Mercy Kardashian-West). Kim was also spotted around 30 Rock, and she turned up on the Tonight Show on Wednesday:
People really do love SKIMS. Even people who dislike Kim sort of begrudgingly admit that SKIMS has some good stuff. Kim also talked about her new Ryan Murphy series, but the big headline is about her love life. She says she?s single and her kids are ready for her to date and they keep trying to set her up with people. Like, they?re creating lists of ?dream boyfriends for mom.? I like that Kim isn?t ready to jump into anything though. I do wonder who she?ll date next? my assumption has always been that her endgame-partner would be a lawyer or someone who reminds her of her dad.

Hoda Kotb turned 60 last Friday, August 9. To celebrate the big 6-0, her Today cohost, Jenna Bush Hager threw her an on-air birthday party on Monday. The celebration was really well-done, too. The audience was given shirts and party hats to set the mood. Jenna gifted Hoda a painting of her favorite photo of her and her daughters that she commissioned her dad, former President George W. Bush to paint (he signed it ?43? lmao). Some of Hodas good friends showed up for a segment. Producers played a sequence that checked in on three different families who Hoda?s interviewed in the past that spoke about her much she?d change their lives. There were also special birthday wishes from Hoda?s mom, daughters, and none other than Sandra Bullock. Sandra, who herself turned 60 on July 26, had an inspirational and funny message for her friend. It was a really nice birthday tribute.
I had so many brilliant and funny things prepared for you for this message that were just going to slay, but you know girl, Im just too tired, said Bullock, who turned 60 on Friday, July 26.
The Practical Magic star also thanked Kotb for being so incredible to so many people.
What you do for a living and how you have to shape-shift every single day, how you navigate your kindness, even when thats not whats coming your way, she said. How you are to those you care about and how you keep them safe, and just who you are as a human being. Were all pretty lucky to have you, especially your kids.
Bullock ended the video with a personal message for Kotb.
Happy birthday, my sweet friend. Thank you for allowing me to be in your circle, said Bullock. I feel very grateful. And I have your bar set up, up here, so we can look at the view. It?s pretty beautiful, but I need you up here. Happy birthday.
Kotb, the parents of daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 4, through adoption, got visibly emotional after watching the video message and expressed that she was inspired to become a mother after watching Bullocks motherhood journey.
?The reason that I have Haley and Hope is because when I was looking for inspiration of somebody who was a mom at my age, Sanda Bullock popped up and I called her and I said, Tell me about motherhood,' recalled Kotb. And she said, ?It is the best decision I ever made. And from that moment forward, she led the way to these two girls.

That was a really sweet message from Sandra. She very rarely makes public appearances like this, which makes the whole video extra lovely. I had no idea that they were so close and had never heard that story before about Sandy being a supportive inspiration behind Hoda?s decision to adopt Haley and Hope. I must have missed it because Hoda did talk about it on-air back in 2018. How awesome is that?
As for her message, I love that Sandra is out there letting women and anyone else who needs to hear it that 60 isn?t the scary number taboo that it?s been made out to be in the past. Sure, it may not always feel great as we?re forced to embrace the changes our bodies go through as we get older, but every additional day, month, and year is a blessing. And Sandy addressed those changes with her joke about being too tired to think of a clever message. I?m only 40 and I feel that way almost every single day, ha. Happy Birthday to Hoda! May 60 be her best year yet.

A lot of you guys have complicated opinions about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Not only that, you guys seem to have a lot of theories about who is briefing what and why. Having been a gossip consumer for decades, I feel like this is one of the rare situations where we can just take stuff at face value and assume that the gossip is flowing steadily from Jennifer?s camp and Ben?s camp. If a report says that Ben is over it and Jennifer is mad about it, I believe it and it?s probably coming from both sides. If something seems like it?s obviously Ben?s perspective, then it probably came from his people, and vice versa with J.Lo. Two months ago, I would have said that there was more nuance and gossip gamesmanship, but now, as we can see clearly that the marriage is over and that Ben said sayonara, all of these reports and gossip items are coming from both sides. J.Lo is pissed and it?s spilling out. Ben is a selfish ahole and he doesn?t care who knows. It is what it is. Well, People Mag has a piece on Ben?s perspective these days:
Ben Affleck is spending significant time working this summer, as rumors continue to swirl regarding his marriage to Jennifer Lopez.
A source tells PEOPLE that Affleck, 51, has not yet moved into the home in Los Angeles that he recently purchased and is still living in the rental home in Brentwood, Calif., where he was staying in May, when sources first said that he and Lopez, 55, were living separately.
?Ben?s doing well. He thrives when he?s busy and he?s been working nonstop, the source says. The kids are still off from school. He spends a lot of time with them, too.
Affleck and Lopezs marriage has been the subject of significant public scrutiny since May, though the pair put on a united front at his daughter Violets high school graduation that same month. The couple, who married in 2022, have spent much of the summer apart after Lopez canceled her tour and subsequently spent much of the past two months on vacation in Europe and in the Hamptons, New York. Lopez recently returned to L.A. and began searching for a new home after they listed the Beverly Hills mansion they purchased together in May 2023.

President Biden dropped out of his reelection campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris on July 21. Within 48 hours, VP Harris had raised $250 million and locked down enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee. Hilariously, one of the first things the new Harris campaign did was lock down Beyonce?s ?Freedom? as their go-to campaign song for rallies and ads. Beyonce personally authorized VP Harris the use of the song and we should absolutely take that as Beyonce endorsing VP Harris. The campaign has also already gotten Bon Iver to perform at a rally, and Tim Walz apparently loves Bruce Springsteen, so his rally song is ?Born to Run.? I assume the Boss authorized that as well.
What?s also hilarious is that no artist wants their music played at Donald Trump?s rallies. At all. This was an issue in 2016 and 2020. Even Adele an artist beloved by Trump had to come out and say, absolutely not, stop using my music at your rallies. Well, the latest artist to send a cease & desist is Celine Dion. Here are some photos of Blake Lively and Isabela Ferrer at the photocall and premiere for It Ends With Us in London on Thursday. Blake?s white suit at the photocall was Stella McCartney? which makes sense (awful sense). For the premiere, Blake wore Tamara Ralph Couture, and Isabela wore Burberry. I think it?s interesting that Blake chose Tamara Ralph (formerly of Ralph & Russo) Blake doesn?t have one go-to designer for every carpet, but usually she goes for bigger name labels or designers. That being said, the dress is blandly pretty, so much so that I thought this was Elie Saab or Monique Lhuillier. The furry coat/cape.stole is interesting but not with this dress. At least Blake?s hair looks good?
Meanwhile, it appears that Justin Baldoni did not make the trip to London to promote the movie. That?s weird he was in New York and he attended the NYC premiere a few days ago. He didn?t pose with anyone from the film though. In case you?re wondering, Baldoni plays the domestic-abuser husband in the film AND Baldoni also directed this mess, with Blake and Colleen Hoover stepping in as co-executive producers. Since IEWU?s promotion ramped up, people have been noticing that Blake and Justin are not interacting on the promo tour at all, not even to pose together on a red carpet.
Social media users are convinced that It Ends With Us costars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have become embroiled in a fierce feud after they noticed some suspicious behavior between the two cast members. The highly-anticipated movie, based off Colleen Hoovers novel of the same name, is set to hit theaters on Friday, August 9. But some fans believe Blake, 36, has beef with Justin, 40 who on top of acting in the film, also directed it after claiming they spotted some tension between the stars at the New York City premiere earlier this week.
Blake and Justin didnt pose for any pictures together at the event, despite playing the two main characters and love interests in the flick. She happily took photos with her other costars like Jenny Slate and Brandon Sklenar, but not Justin. Two days later, Blake attended a photo call in London for the film with some of the other stars but Justin was mysteriously absent.
In addition, the two havent done any press together in the weeks leading up to the films release. Instead, Blake sat down for an interview with her costar, Brandon, last month; she and Brandon also participated in a promotional video with It Ends With Us stars Alex Neustaedter and Isabela Ferrer, but Justin had no part in it.
Eagle-eyed social media users also noticed that both Blake and author Colleen unfollowed Justin on Instagram recently. Between their lack of interactions and the social media move, many people on the web are wondering if there was drama between Blake and Justin on set.

Two things make me believe the beef is real: not posing together on the red carpet in NYC AND Lively and Hoover unfollowing him. Even when costars hate each other, producers will convince them to pose together (however briefly) at the premiere, even if it?s part of a larger group. There was none of that at the NYC premiere, and obviously, he didn?t even come to the London leg of the promotion. Something absolutely went down. Ive seen some people theorizing that Baldoni didnt appreciate Blake trying to whitewash the domestic violence storyline? There are rumors about Ryan Reynolds getting too involved in the production too.

Here are some photos from last night?s New York premiere of It Ends With Us. I?m also including some of Blake?s flower-intensive promotional looks from this week too. As we discussed, Blake?s IEWU character is named Lily Bloom. She works as a florist. Blake is Captain Obvious. Blake chose a very special ?floral? look for the premiere a vintage Versace dress once worn by Britney Spears in 2002. Blake told People Mag at the premiere that it was actually the same dress Britney wore. The fact that Blake can fit into that dress after four kids? Kind of amazing. Sidenote: this early-2000s Versace era was so good, Donatella had taken over from her late brother and she was really going lighter and brighter.
As always, Ryan Reynolds joined Blake at her premiere. Hugh Jackman came out as well, because I guess Hugh is part of the Lively-Reynolds family now (lucky him). I don?t begrudge Blake the support she?s the executive producer on this film, the source material for which (arguably) romanticizes domestic violence and she?s really trying to hype it.
I?m not looking up the fashion IDs on all of Blake?s floral looks but the ensemble with the chaps is insane. All of these looks are pretty tragic, actually.

Look who?s back in LA! Jennifer Lopez traveled to her home in the Hamptons before the Fourth of July. She was there for well over a month a month full of chaos, divorce rumors and apparently little to no communication with Ben Affleck. Now she?s back in LA and she?s shopping for real estate. That?s what these photos show J.Lo was checking out a property in Bel Air.
As for all of the gossip? the past 48 hours have been a whirlwind of briefings from ?sources.? Chatty-ass sources are spilling their guts about Bennifer to TMZ, the Mail, Entertainment Tonight, Page Six and People Magazine. The broad strokes: Ben and Jen are not speaking to one another, they?re communicating through their managers, they will eventually file for divorce but they want to work out the details before they announce anything, and there?s a great deal of humiliation and embarrassment for all involved. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are considering next steps as their summer winds down. The Atlas actress, 55, hasnt seen Ben for weeks, a source tells PEOPLE. Shes been spending time in New York City and the Hamptons, where she held a large birthday bash with friends and family, sans Affleck, 51. Affleck, meanwhile, has mostly been spending time in Los Angeles, and Lopez recently returned back to L.A.
They?re moving on separately. Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start fresh, adds the source.
Signs that their marriage was in a bad place became evident in May, when sources said Lopez and Affleck were living under separate roofs. They put on a united front at graduation gatherings and other family milestones but later embarked on separate summer plans. They marked their two-year wedding anniversary apart in July.
Considering everything thats going on, Jennifer is having a good summer, the source says. Shes been off and able to focus on whats next. She?s enjoyed spending time with her kids, family and friends.

Like, if it went down like that and Ben was suddenly over it and began slow-walking the divorce, I?m absolutely on her side. Anyway? what if they announce everything on Ben?s birthday, the 15th?

Just a few weeks ago, I was much more hopeful about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. While I thought they were going through a bad patch, I took hope in the fact that J.Lo seemed to want to stay married to Ben, and that she seemed to believe that she could win him back somehow. But nowadays? it looks pretty bad. How did we go from ?J.Lo is trying to make Ben chase her? to ?they hate each other and they aren?t even speaking anymore?? That?s apparently the state of play, at least according to TMZ:
Things are not amicable between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck the lines of communication are closed and its making it difficult to hammer out a divorce agreement. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ? J Lo and Ben are not speaking to one another in person or over the phone and its really slowing down their divorce.
Ben and Jens icy relationship is really the only thing preventing this from being a quickie divorce were told they have a prenup and the only asset they have to divide is their Beverly Hills mansion, which is on the market.
Our sources say J Lo and Ben have NOT hired lawyers and are instead having everything go through their respective business managers, who are trying to figure out the financials behind the divorce but its complicated because the principals are not talking.
TMZ broke the stories the estranged couples Bev Hills estate is on the market for $68 million and Ben just closed on his own $20.5 million mansion in Brentwood, as Jen remains on the hunt for a house of her own. Ben closed escrow on the house the same day Jennifer turned 55 thats just a coincidence, but we do know there is no love lost between the two.
Ben and J Lo will eventually hire divorce lawyers, and were told no documents will be filed until they reach a settlement. They will file legal docs requesting a divorce, the judge will sign it and that will be that. But until Ben and Jen start talking again, things will continue moving at a snails pace.

My thing is that I simply don?t believe that any of this was about money, nor do I think the financial part of a seemingly inevitable divorce is the sticking point. The fact that their business managers are apparently doing the negotiating is WILD, but it also points to this whole thing being deeply unserious. Like? if you?re getting a divorce, grow up and hire a fking lawyer. You?re both in your 50s, stop playing telephone games and passing messages through Benny Medina and whoever. I sort of believe that they?re trying to be super-quiet about whatever negotiations are going on behind the scenes, but I also believe that both Ben and Jennifer are incredibly embarrassed. Like, this marriage blew up in both of their faces and they both look like idiots. That?s the biggest reason for the slow-moving divorce they?re both like ?wow, our images are going to take a huge hit when we file for divorce.?
