I fully admit that, for years now, I?ve believed the celebrity beauty/makeup/skincare industry is oversaturated, overhyped and overvalued. Kylie Jenner and Rihanna were the pioneers of ?beauty start-ups which turned into massive companies,? and all of the other ladies have been trying to copy them for the past decade. But while I?m a curmudgeon on these ventures, the actual beauty industry is bullish on these celebrity endeavors. Kylie Jenner sold the majority of her brand to Coty six years ago, Rihanna & LVMH split Fenty Beauty (a multi-billion dollar brand), and now Hailey Bieber has sold Rhode. Hailey started her skincare/beauty company Rhode in 2022, and it grew really fast really quickly, with several ?hero? products. Hailey has been exploring her options and wanting to sell all year, and now she?s found a buyer: e.l.f. Beauty.
Hailey Biebers rhode is celebrating a major milestone. On Wednesday, May 28, it was announced that e.l.f. Beauty had signed a $1 billion dollar deal to acquire the brand.
Per a press release, Bieber, 28, will continue her role as founder and additionally serve as rhode?s chief creative officer and head of innovation, overseeing creative, product innovation and marketing. She will also act as a strategic advisor to the combined companies.
The release also states that rhode was the No. 1 skincare brand in Earned Media Value in 2024, representing 367% year-over-year EMV growth.
?We can?t wait to bring rhode to more faces, places, and spaces. From day one, my vision for rhode has been to make essential skin care and hybrid makeup you can use every day,? Bieber shared in a statement. ?Just three years into this journey, our partnership with e.l.f. Beauty marks an incredible opportunity to elevate and accelerate our ability to reach more of our community with even more innovative products and widen our distribution globally.
The entrepreneur added that she looks forward to the brands new exciting chapter alongside co-founders Michael D. Ratner and Lauren Ratner, who have helped bring my vision to life from the start.?
Bieber also spoke to Allure about the news, saying, ?When youre launching a brand, youre just so focused on whats right in front of you at the time. And of course, you always have really big dreams and really big goals for it. This is definitely one of those things being realized. I could have never anticipated that it would happen at this exact time.? She added about her decision to pair with the e.l.f. team, Vibes matter!
[From People]
This is another reason why I rolled my eyes at the months of speculation about Justin Bieber?s finances one, I think the reports are coming from Justin?s former team because they?re mad that they?re not on the Bieber gravy train anymore. Two, I think Justin is more than fine with Hailey making money right now, and Hailey is absolutely the family breadwinner at the moment. Hailey?s a billionaire three years after launching her company. It?s insane. Good for her, honestly.

| Times: How dare Prince Harry fly to Shanghai to 'promote greener travel' | Added 25 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

On Monday, Prince Harry popped up in Shanghai for the Envision 2025 conference. He was the keynote speaker, and his speech was on behalf of Travalyst, which he founded in 2019. As I said earlier this week, the royal reporters were absolutely furious about Harry?s trip to Shanghai. First off, they had no idea he was in China, thus proving that they have no sources in the Sussex camp. Secondly, those reporters had to scrap their ?King Charles is in North America but he REFUSES to see his son, Harry snubbed again? stories. So, those royal reporters have taken all of their anger, all of their incandescent rage, and they?ve channeled into? bitching about Harry flying to Shanghai. From the Times of London?s ?Prince Harry flies from LA to Shanghai to promote greener travel.?
Prince Harry has made a surprise visit to China to give a speech highlighting the importance of sustainable travel. The Duke of Sussex made the long-haul trip to Shanghai to remind travel industry executives of the urgency to meet ?vital climate and conservation targets by 2030?.
He was invited to a tourism conference in his capacity as the founder of Travalyst, a sustainable travel organisation whose motto is ?changing the way we travel, for good?. Travalyst is working with companies including Google and Skyscanner to develop an online tool that shows carbon emissions for every flight. The aim of this ?travel impact model? is to allow anyone booking flights to see a single, consistent estimate of a given flight?s carbon emissions, and how that compares to a typical flight on that same route. Travalyst and its partners claim that a standard model for the industry will allow consumers to choose flights with the lowest carbon emissions, in the same way they shop around for the cheapest seats.
It is not known what flight Harry took to China. Travalyst declined to share its own model?s estimates for the amount of harmful emissions caused by an average first-class return flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai, when asked by The Times. On average, a passenger travelling first-class on a return flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai causes the equivalent of 6311.32kg or 6.31 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, according to the conversion model used by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. These emissions could be anywhere between 10 and 100 times higher in a private jet, depending on the type of aircraft.
According to the carbon emissions calculator of FlightFree USA, a campaign group urging people to fly less, ?avoiding this trip [Los Angeles to Shanghai] is as climate friendly as carpooling for 3.7 years?. The calculator also claimed that a passenger who mades a return flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai, for example, would cause more emissions of greenhouse gases in a single trip than 3.5 billion people emit over the course of a year.
[From The Times]
I read this to myself in a pissy British accent with an air of triumphant bitchiness, which is how it?s meant to be read. This is how they?re ?punishing? Harry for going to Shanghai without telling them, and making them scrap their ?king snubs son? stories. My favorite part is ?Travalyst declined to share its own model?s estimates for the amount of harmful emissions caused by an average first-class return flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai.? Doesn?t Travalyst make all of that information available online for people booking flights? Was it impossible for the cheapskates at the Times to book the round-trip LA-Shanghai flight and just gather the data themselves? But if they did that, they couldn?t pretend that Harry is hiding information from them!
But honestly, it?s not even that I have an issue with this kind of ?green-advocate prince takes a commercial flight, won?t someone think of the carbon emissions? reporting. My issue is that the same carbon-emission concern-trolling is never applied to the prince who travels everywhere by helicopter and borrowed private planes. The prince who created an environmental busywork scheme in which celebrities are flown in to pose with said prince. Surely, someone could calculate the carbon emissions of bringing Heidi Klum to South Africa just so Prince William could hang out with a ?supermodel? at Earthshot last year.

| Brad Pitt on his divorce from Angelina: 'Just something coming to fruition. Legally' | Added 25 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Brad Pitt unfortunately covers the ?summer issue? of GQ. He?s one of three summer-issue covers Lewis Hamilton and Damson Idris are the two other covers, and obviously, this whole thing is about Pitt?s stupid F1 movie. Reportedly, Apple spent over $300 million on this fakakta movie and I hope it bombs so hard. This GQ profile starts out with all of Brad?s professional bros hyping him and the movie. They even got Jerry Bruckheimer to say ?Brad is having the time of his life.? Yeah, Pitt is a 61-year-old domestic abuser who got Apple to spend $300 million on his big-boy-goes-vroom-vroom movie. That?s something else which makes this whole enterprise even crazier: Brad Pitt?s deeply problematic personal history means that he has to largely dodge the kind of interviews where he would be pressed about his lack of relationships with the children he abused or the ex-wife he?s still disparaging. Which is why this GQ piece reads like the studio wrote it using AI prompts. Pitt did field one question about his divorce, just FYI. Some lowlights from GQ:
Director Joseph Kosinski on how Brad is different than Tom Cruise: ?Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled. They both have the natural talent for driving. But yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more.? ?Elsewhere on set, the movie?s action-vehicle supervisor, Graham Kelly, puts a finer point on it: ?We?d have had a crash,? he says, smiling. ?Tom pushes it to the limit. I mean really to the limit. That terrifies me. I mean, I?ve done loads of Mission: Impossibles with Tom and it?s the most stressful experience for someone like me building cars for him, doing stunts with him. Whereas Brad listens and he knows his abilities, and I think he?d be the first to say, ?Yeah, I?m not going to do that.???
Brad on the SAG strike which derailed the production: ?We got to Silverstone which, my God, is a glorious track and became like a home for us and then we?re off and running, and we?re ready! We?re on the grid standing next to the actual racers. The telecast is going to cut us out, but our cameras are going to get us all, we?re a part of it. We have this amazing weekend. Everything goes like clockwork. Everything?s sublime. Everyone?s on a high adrenaline rush. We pull this thing off! I drove in front of 80,000 people in the stands on that day. I didn?t cock up the car, didn?t put it in the wall, didn?t beach it, everything was good! And then the strike happens and I was gutted. I didn?t know what to do with myself. I was bumping into walls. I was like, Oh man, man, we have this push and we had this?here we go! And then all of a sudden someone said: Cut. But it was probably the best thing that happened for the movie, and the best thing for me. I got to drive a whole nother year because of it.?
The similarities between F1 drivers & actors: ?There?s an isolation. Even a loneliness when you don?t feel like things are clicking. They usually lead to something greater and you can find purpose in it. But there is a definite isolation and it?s not necessarily a negative, it?s an endeavor and a constant discussion with you and yourself of maintaining this thing. And, yes, I think we?ve got it bad. But those guys are so scrutinized and that sport is so revered and there are so many of us that think we could do it, too, just because we drive a car fast down the freeway or something. They get so much sh-t. It is shocking to me. They?ve got to have thicker skin than even us.?
His personal life: ?My personal life is always in the news. It?s been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let?s put it that way?. It?s been an annoyance I?ve had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do. So, it?s always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that, I don?t know. I don?t know. Mostly I feel pretty?. My life is fairly contained. It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it?s like this fly buzzing around a little bit.?
Whether he feels relief at finalizing his divorce from Angelina: ?No, I don?t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.?
His thing with Ines de Ramon: Pitt and his new girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, attended a public event together for the first time at the 2024 British Grand Prix, a race won by Hamilton in his final season with Mercedes. I ask Pitt if he and de Ramon deliberately decided to appear publicly for the first time at an F1 race. ?No, dude, it?s not that calculated,? Pitt says, chuckling. ?If you?re living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you?re living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve.?
[From GQ]
This whole profile/promotional mess made me sad. Maybe the movie will be a hit, maybe there?s an audience for this, but it all just feels like such a waste of time, money and resources. It also feels like Pitt was the wrong person to star as the ?wise F1 elder.? As for what he says about his divorce? he makes it sound like it was out of his hands, when clearly, he was the one holding up the divorce as yet another way to punish Angelina for leaving him.

| Sun: Duchess Meghan is just a hot woman who bagged a rich prince?? | Added 25 hours ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Along with all of the ?emotional support polls,? the British media always returns to several false narratives about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The narratives are all interconnected: Meghan was a ?nobody? before she married Harry, she would be ?nothing? without her royal association, and her only ?talent? is being beautiful and marrying a prince. There?s a good deal of projection happening, because a lot of people don?t want to admit that their future queen and their current queen were nobodies who never worked a day in their lives. Well, the Sun?s Royal Exclusive show exists to have commentators and ?royal experts? come on to say deranged sh-t about Meghan and Harry. The latest is someone named Esther Krakue claiming that Meghan is only a hot girl who bagged a famous and rich prince, and she should stop trying to be anything else.
Meghan Markle wants to be something that she really isnt through her trailblazing projects, a royal expert has claimed. Journalist and commentator Esther Krakue said Meghan should embrace being a hot woman who married a Prince instead of broadcasting her particularly niche view of the world.
Speaking on The Suns Royal Exclusive show, Esther touched upon Meghans appearance on the The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast. In it, the duchess said that if she had to write a resume, she would not know what to call herself. Esther said: She has also never had to write a resume, lets be honest.
She told The Suns Royal Editor, Matt Wilkinson: I think the lens through which she views the world is very peculiar. I just think this, her trying to posit herself as a champion of women and trying to shoehorn this particularly niche view of the world into something thats a bit more nuanced and complicated. Its just like, you dont need to do that. Youre hot. You married a prince. Give us the tea. Thats all we need from her.
The London-based broadcaster and columnist cited the various projects Meghan has been pursuing arguably not done very well.
Esther added: She doesnt see it the way that most of the world is, which is she has a very rich husband. What shes doing is low risk. I dont even want to feel like were beating down on everything she does. I wish her every success, but I feel sad that she feels the need to be this thing that shes clearly not. Shes not a chemist. Shes not a physicist. And thats fine. Sometimes its OK to just be pretty and to have good fortune in life and to ride that wave.
[From The Sun]
Fun fact: Meghan was actually a self-made millionaire when she met Harry. Harry sees himself as extremely lucky for bagging a hot and smart woman, and he?s grateful every day that he married Meghan. This idea that Meghan doesn?t ?need? to work is so bizarre she?s started a business which has been successful from the word go. She and Harry have a lucrative Netflix contract which will likely be renewed in some form. She works because she has to and because she likes to. It feels like they?re really mad that they?re stuck with such a work-shy dud with the other one, right? The undercurrent of this is ?why does Meghan have to be so hot and successful, she?s making Kate look bad!?
