Even though he readily admits his life has not always been charmed, one bit of beauty is his 25-year relationship with his wife Keely Shaye Smith. To note this milestone, he posted a lovely note to her on Instagram:

A few weeks ago, Anthony Horowitz stepped in major dog poop. Horowitz is the current author of the James Bond books ? after Ian Fleming?s passing, his estate extended the literary franchise by getting a series of new authors to write the Bond books, and Horowitz is the current author. Anyway, Horowitz was asked about the possibility of casting Idris Elba as James Bond, to which Horowitz sharted out: ?I think he is probably a bit too street for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.? Horowitz got well-deserved hate online and he ended up apologizing (in a half-assed way). So, that?s the latest context for a new Pierce Brosnan interview, in which the old James Bond was asked about the possibility of Idris in the role. His answer invites some serious parsing.
He may have hung up his licence to kill 10 years ago, but Pierce Brosnan has a few ideas on the future of iconic spy James Bond. The 62-year-old Irish actor, who portrayed Ian Fleming’s secret service star from 1994 to 2005, said he thinks the next thespian to take on the role will be male and white. Pierce declared that the MI5 agent is “all man” and blasted the idea of a female lead filling Daniel Craig’s boots.
“Anything is possible for sure, but I think he’ll be male and he’ll be white,” Pierce said.
The forthcoming blockbuster Spectre is expected to be 47-year-old Daniel’s final outing as the British icon, and after he broke the mould with his blonde locks, there has been much speculation as to whether his successor could be a black star or a female actress.
“There’s wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there’s no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond,” he told the Press Association. “But a female James Bond, no, I think it has to be male. James Bond is a guy, he’s all male. His name is James, his name is James Bond.”
Pierce also discussed living in Malibu for years, saying: “I’m so Americanised after 30 years of living here. But I miss the British sense of humour. It’s so caustic, witty, funny, biting, severe, sharp, just boletic in its humorous kind of take on life, and the piss take of life. I do miss all of that. I find myself still kind of taking the piss out of something which leaves people rather perplexed here in this town. It’s like I’ve said something terrible, but really you’re just taking the piss out of somebody, because it’s funny. I miss those comedic values here.?

Okay, let?s parse. He?s not saying James Bond can ONLY be white, he?s saying he thinks the next Bond will probably be just another white dude, and if I’m being honest with myself, I agree that the producers will probably just choose another white guy. Brosnan?s also saying pretty explicitly that there?s no reason why a black actor couldn?t play Bond. As for the female thing? I agree that it is highly unlikely that the producers would hire a woman to play Bond, though it wouldn?t be such a bad thing. Angelina Jolie always said that she didn?t want to play a Bond Girl, she wanted to play Bond. Think of Angelina ? or a comparable action-oriented actress ? in the role. It just got more interesting, didn?t it?

It?s no secret that Pierce Brosnan is married to a woman who loves to eat. It?s just never an issue because Pierce always seems to be completely besotted by his wife Keely Shaye Smith and so even the tabloids try to still up some sh-t, nothing ever happens. Pierce and Keely are happily married. They love each other. Haters to the left. But! The Enquirer has an interesting twist on the ?why is he still with her, she?s not a size zero!? story ? The Enquirer?s sources claim that Pierce is having a hard time keeping up his famous good looks because he and Keely like to spend their days drowning themselves in a vat full of pasta, wine and carbs.
Pierce Brosnan is desperately trying to keep his lean, leading man figure, but his love (and his wife?s love) of all things fattening is making it tough for him. Despite the fact that Pierce turned 60 in May, he?s still being cast opposite much younger women. In his latest film, ?How To Make Love Like An Englishman,? he romances Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba.
?Pierce is still considered a heartthrob, so he knows the importance of keeping fit. And while he used to have no trouble working out and cutting back on the carbs when it was time to shape up, it?s getting harder than ever now because he?s getting older.?
And his plus-sized wife Keely Shaye Smith is no ally in his battle against the bulge.
?They both love to eat good food and drink great wines,? noted the source, who also notes that while Pierce strives to stay hunky, his 50-year-old wife isn?t into counting calories.
?Keely used to worry that she was 50 pounds overweight? but as she?s gotten older, she no longer stresses over her curves. And since Pierce says he loves her just the way she is, she feels comfortable embracing her size. Keely loves to cook pastas and serve up sandwiches on a crisp baguette, and she Pierce enjoy comfort foods like fish and chips and casseroles. They also adore good wine and they drink a bottle or more together almost every night.?
?And while Pierce does his best to exercise daily, Keely is happy to sit at home on the beach and work on her writing and care for the kids.?

The source goes on to describe Pierce?s new workout routine, which involves a whole lotta everything, from kickboxing to Pilates to yoga to tennis. Which sounds like a lot of work for a 60 year old. A trainer once told me: ?You get to a certain age and you can no longer just go on a quick diet or work out a few more days to lose weight ? you have to do BOTH.? As in, once you reach a certain point (often your mid-30s), you have to focus on both your diet and exercise, you can?t choose one or the other. That being said, if Pierce is throwing back bottles of wine every night while he?s trying to lose weight, that?s where he should start. So many empty calories in booze.

Proving that ?the show must go on,? Pierce Brosnan resumed his duties on the set of ?November Man? yesterday afternoon (July 2).
The ?Mrs. Doubtfire? actor arrived in Belgrade, Serbia a mere four days after his daughter Charlotte died following a battle with ovarian cancer.
Pierce released a statement regarding the tragedy, noting, "On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and brothers Christopher and Sean."
"Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences."

This isn’t a terribly controversial story, but it made me smile just a bit because Pierce Brosnan seems so terribly devoted to his wife of over a decade, Keely Shaye Smith. Pierce is currently promoting Love is All You Need, which is of those romantic comedies that he’s been drawn to lately either by choice or by necessity. To me, it’s still really weird to see Pierce doing something other than James Bond movies, but I think it’s great that I appear to be the only one who feels that way because (obviously) he continues to score roles.
For her part, Keely is not an actress but a journalist and author by trade. She doesn’t make out with other people as part of her job, but being married to Pierce means that she must accept him doing so in order to get a paycheck. I really don’t think I could ever deal with a husband who swaps bodily fluids with others even if it’s only acting. There would always be a lingering twinge of unhappiness to hear about how he’s been kissing Sarah Jessica Parker or whomever. Hell, Pierce is even pursuing a new “passion project” that involves him knocking up Jessica Aba, and so he’ll certainly be grabbing the infamous Alba ass. However, none of this seems to bother Keely in the slightest, and she even refers to the phenomenon as “legal cheating.” Pierce seems very amused by this as well:

The former James Bond star can now be seen opposite Danish actress Trine Dyrholm in the romantic comedy Love is All You Need.
Asked how the real-life mother of his two youngest sons feels about his cinematic dalliances, the 59-year-old Brosnan told reporters in New York recently, “My wife calls it ‘legal cheating.’
“She said this at a dinner party once and I just about choked on my shrimp,” he laughed. “I’m a lucky guy, what can I say? Women are beautiful and it’s just a great job that I have to be able to fall in love and play out the romance of life and the sexuality of life, however, if I were to go down every avenue, I wouldn’t be here. I’m not very good at such a job as going out there and leading such a life. I want to have my cake and eat it, so to speak. It’s lovely being out there with Trine or whatever leading lady and make movies and make romance, but I like the stability of one woman and family and the continuity of that.”

Both Pierce and Keely seem to have the right attitude about this inevitablity in the career of an actor. I always wonder though if it bothers non-actresses who are married to actors — like say, Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana — to watch their men romance other women on a massive movie screen. Of course, these scenes are usually anything but sexy when they’re being shot in front of a huge camera crew and a screaming director. So I won’t judge Pierce and Keely for possessing a slightly flippant perspective of the situation because they honestly seem like a solid couple. However, I will freely judge them for their rampant PDA. Get a room, kids.

Pierce Brosnan has been in Venice for the past few days to promote his latest film, Love Is All You Need. I kept staring at photos of Pierce from the photo call and premiere, and finally decided to just cover the pics because Pierce looks so great. You know what I love about him? Everything, really. But specifically, I love that Pierce doesn?t look Botoxed or tweaked, that his skin looks kind of sun-damaged and he looks his age in general ? certainly, he looks good for his age (59!!), but you can tell that he?s a man in his 50s.
So? would you hit it? If he wasn?t married to Keely, I mean. Even though he?s so much older than me? yes, I would hit it like a house on fire. God, I love an Irishman.
As for the film? it seems like it?s just supposed to be a sweet romantic comedy. You can read more about it here ? I like that Pierce has consistently shown an ability to flex his acting chops, post-James Bond, in action films, rom-coms, dramas, etc. For my money, Pierce is maybe the best actor to fill the ?007? role, and he?s shown the most range. Don?t yell about Sean Connery! I love Sean Connery, but I really think Pierce has more range.

Doing the promotional rounds for his upcoming movie, "Love is All You Need," Pierce Brosnan attended a photocall at the Venice Film Festival at the Palazzo del Casino today (Sept. 2).
The "Goldeneye" actor wore a white dress shirt, opened at the collar with a tan jacket and khakis as he posed with co-screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen, director Susanne Bier, and costar Trine Dyrholm.
A rom-com set in Italy, the movie tells the story of two different families who meet in an old villa for a romantic wedding in which nothing goes according to plan.
An early Venice review of the film by David Rooney praised the film, saying, "[a]udiences who enjoy Bier?s more sober melodramas might dismiss this as trite. But the slick, unapologetically commercial film ? which the director?s regular distributor Sony Pictures Classics has for North America ? has sweetness, charm and a generosity of spirit that will find many takers."

Pierce Brosnan was in Prague on Wednesday filming a Lipton Tea commercial. In between takes, he secretly sipped from a can of Pilsner Urquell beer he tried to keep hidden from the cameraman. He’s a crafty drunk, that Pierce Brosnan.
Although in his defense, what’s the point of going to work if you can’t get hammered from time to time? And what else do you expect him to drink? That swill they call Lipton Tea? Hahahah… oh, right. Forgot he was filming a commercial for them.

Unfortunately, there is no Pierce Brosnan news to go along with these fabulous photos. Pierce was out and about in New York City yesterday, filming I Don?t Know How She Does It, a comedy starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Munn and Kelsey Grammer, amongst others. Pierce seems like the odd man out in that pile of mediocrity, which got me to thinking?
Just when did my opinion of Pierce grow to my current view of him? It was at some point in the last few years, all of a sudden I just started thinking he was The Man. I even watched The Ghost Writer (the Polanski film, I know, I know), and I can?t even describe how excellent Pierce was in it. It was one of the best performances of his career. I think once Pierce left the James Bond franchise, he just stopped caring about pleasing everybody and decided to do interesting work.
Beyond the career achievements - and this hopefully brief foray into SJP comedies (ugh) - I have to say, Pierce has never looked better. It?s freezing cold in New York, and Pierce is a one-man biscuit furnace. Sigh? now I?m depressed that no one ever requests him for Hot Guy Friday.
