As we?ve discussed, Netflix just released a six-minute preview of the new season of Wednesday. One of my favorite parts of the clip is Wednesday Addams going through security at Newark Airport (who knew how prescient setting a horror show at Newark would end up being, amirite?). After unloading all manner of instruments (weapons) Wednesday has packed to use against the Kansas City Scalper, what is the item TSA agents end up dinging her for? A sunscreen bottle larger than three ounces! As someone who had to surrender my own sunscreen at JFK just a few months ago, the bit spoke to me. This preamble brings us to Ellen Pompeo. The Grey?s Anatomy star just revealed to Travel + Leisure that on a recent flight, TSA agents detained her for an hour while they called in the bomb squad? to inspect her bag of sunflower seeds! What, were they worried she bought them from the same dealer who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?
?I had a bag of sunflower seeds, like organic sunflower seeds from Erewhon, so they were probably the most expensive sunflower seeds money can buy,? she told Travel + Leisure in an interview published May 29. ?They literally held me for an hour, and they brought the bomb squad in.?
And Pompeo couldn?t believe that her seeds?purchased from the upscale Los Angeles grocer known for the Hailey Bieber smoothie?prompted such a serious response.
?And I was like, what is happening? Is this a joke?? she recalled. ?They said it was most likely a chemical on the packaging of these super expensive, fancy, organic, clean sunflower seeds. My protein on the plane!?
Even when the actress offered to throw away the seeds, she said officials needed her to remain put while they investigated the unopened bag.
?I almost missed the flight,? the 55-year-old shared. ?It was really like no one would ever believe this! I was texting my publicist saying, ?I might not get on this plane, and you?re never gonna guess why.??
And while Pompeo?s protein-packed snack certainly set off alarms, it?s not the only time her dedication to her health has sparked controversy.
In fact, she recently recalled that she was once ?so skinny? that ?everyone thought I had an eating disorder.?
?The tabloids would say horrible things,? she told People in February. ?I just remember being so anxious on red carpets, and the comments about my weight and my body.?
?It was a whole situation with how skinny I was, and there was so much negative attention,? she explained. ?Girls today can be gorgeous and thin and thank God we?re not allowed to comment on women?s bodies, even though people do. But I just had so much anxiety and lacked self-esteem because people were so critical of my physicality.?

I know this isn?t the point of the story, but a bag of overpriced organic sunflower seeds was her entire protein for the flight? Dare I say, that is literally eating like a bird! Anyway, I ribbed the TSA agents earlier, but kidding aside, this exact same thing happened to me. Only it wasn?t a bag of sunflower seeds but a big burrito tightly wrapped in tin foil. And I wasn?t detained for an hour while bomb squad came in to assist, but instead had to suffer through the withering gaze of the agents whose facial expressions loudly said, ?Damn lady, that is one big ass burrito.? (It was a cross country flight! I need more protein than Ellen!) I can?t believe they didn?t just let her throw the seeds away like she offered. That seems needlessly crazy on the TSA?s part. Personally, I would sooner sit down in place and eat my burrito than trash it, but I guess that?s the difference between me and Ellen. (Or a burrito and sunflower seeds.)

I fully admit that, for years now, I?ve believed the celebrity beauty/makeup/skincare industry is oversaturated, overhyped and overvalued. Kylie Jenner and Rihanna were the pioneers of ?beauty start-ups which turned into massive companies,? and all of the other ladies have been trying to copy them for the past decade. But while I?m a curmudgeon on these ventures, the actual beauty industry is bullish on these celebrity endeavors. Kylie Jenner sold the majority of her brand to Coty six years ago, Rihanna & LVMH split Fenty Beauty (a multi-billion dollar brand), and now Hailey Bieber has sold Rhode. Hailey started her skincare/beauty company Rhode in 2022, and it grew really fast really quickly, with several ?hero? products. Hailey has been exploring her options and wanting to sell all year, and now she?s found a buyer: e.l.f. Beauty.
Hailey Biebers rhode is celebrating a major milestone. On Wednesday, May 28, it was announced that e.l.f. Beauty had signed a $1 billion dollar deal to acquire the brand.
Per a press release, Bieber, 28, will continue her role as founder and additionally serve as rhode?s chief creative officer and head of innovation, overseeing creative, product innovation and marketing. She will also act as a strategic advisor to the combined companies.
The release also states that rhode was the No. 1 skincare brand in Earned Media Value in 2024, representing 367% year-over-year EMV growth.
?We can?t wait to bring rhode to more faces, places, and spaces. From day one, my vision for rhode has been to make essential skin care and hybrid makeup you can use every day,? Bieber shared in a statement. ?Just three years into this journey, our partnership with e.l.f. Beauty marks an incredible opportunity to elevate and accelerate our ability to reach more of our community with even more innovative products and widen our distribution globally.
The entrepreneur added that she looks forward to the brands new exciting chapter alongside co-founders Michael D. Ratner and Lauren Ratner, who have helped bring my vision to life from the start.?
Bieber also spoke to Allure about the news, saying, ?When youre launching a brand, youre just so focused on whats right in front of you at the time. And of course, you always have really big dreams and really big goals for it. This is definitely one of those things being realized. I could have never anticipated that it would happen at this exact time.? She added about her decision to pair with the e.l.f. team, Vibes matter!

This is another reason why I rolled my eyes at the months of speculation about Justin Bieber?s finances one, I think the reports are coming from Justin?s former team because they?re mad that they?re not on the Bieber gravy train anymore. Two, I think Justin is more than fine with Hailey making money right now, and Hailey is absolutely the family breadwinner at the moment. Hailey?s a billionaire three years after launching her company. It?s insane. Good for her, honestly.

Here are some photos of Justin and Hailey Bieber out on a date night on Friday. They went to dinner at Sushi Park, a popular Japanese joint located in the second floor of a strip mall. I remember when Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Zoe Kravitz and some girlfriends went there in October 2023 (I remember the photos of them leaving the strip mall, if I?m being honest). Still, Sushi Park is a very popular place in WeHo, and I?m sure Justin and Hailey just wanted some sushi.
The paparazzi were all around, and the tabloids are making it seem like the Biebers wanted to get pap?d on Friday specifically because Selena Gomez dropped her new album, I Said I Love You First, on that same day. I mean? it could be, but I hope that Hailey and Justin are done with the Selena stuff. Justin and Hailey literally welcomed a son last year. I hope they?re not purposefully doing pap strolls to compete with Selena?s album promotion. Considering the way Justin looked at the photographers, it definitely seemed like he had no desire to get pap?d. Meanwhile, there?s been another gossip-cycle where people have been ?worried? about Justin, because something something ?he doesn?t look well? or he?s posting cryptic sh-t on his socials. Hailey?s working, and Justin?s creating music, says the insider. The Grammy winner, 31, has shared numerous photos from recording studios to his Instagram in recent weeks.
They are just doing their thing, adds the source. They are not concerned what people think.
The insider notes that Justin and Hailey, 28, have a great life.
They love being parents, says the source about the couple, who welcomed their first child, Jack Blues, in August 2024. They have a great marriage too.

My personal take: I think there are a lot of people who want Justin to be upset or consumed with regret or deeply unhappy with Hailey. I think a lot of people don?t understand that this is probably the closest Justin will get to his happy ending: he?s married to someone he loves, someone who ?takes care of him? and handles his moods; he?s finally a father, something he?s always wanted; he feels no pressure to still be in the music industry rat-race of churning out albums and going on tours. And to top it all off, Hailey?s side-business (Rhode) is super-successful and she?s bringing in more money than him these days. Now, I?m sure they have problems and I?m sure everything isn?t a basket of roses. But there?s just so much projection on both of them and it does feel like people are constantly looking for ?signs? that his marriage sucks or he?s secretly unhappy.

Growing up, I didn?t know any Jacks, but that?s changed over time. People name their sons ?John? and call him Jack, or they just flat-out make their son?s legal name Jack or Jackson or Jax or whatever. It feels super-common these days and I?m sure Jack Bieber will have several classmates named Jack or Jackson. People Mag says there?s an important thing happening with the initials too:
Justin and Hailey Bieber are keeping their family name alive! On Friday, Aug. 23, the couple announced the arrival of their baby boy, Jack Blues Bieber ? continuing a sweet Bieber family tradition of naming him with the initials ?JB.?
WELCOME HOME JACK BLUES BIEBER,? Juston, 30, wrote in a post on Instagram while sharing a close-up shot of the baby?s foot. Hailey, 27, reshared the post on her Instagram Stories as she added a bear and blue heart emoji.
The family tradition of naming their son with the initials ?JB? is one that has continued in Justin?s side of the family for a couple of generations now, as the singer has the same initials, along with his dad, Jeremy Bieber, and some of his siblings.
Justin?s half-sister Jazmyn Bieber, 16, and half-brother, Jaxon Bieber, 14, also have the same initials. Both siblings are the children of Jeremy and his ex Erin Wagner.
The singer also named his son Jack after his father?s middle name in another sentimental tribute.
Justin?s dad Jeremy and mom Pattie Mallette, split a few months before he was born in 1994.

It honestly took me a good ten minutes to figure out what the hell was happening here. At first, I thought Hailey Bieber was being paid to shill Krispy Kreme donuts and I was like ?I would do that for free.? Then I thought Hailey was launching her new Rhode products AT Krispy Kreme, and I was like ?you can rent out a Krispy Kreme for product launches??? OMG!? But now I get it Hailey has done a ?collaboration? with Krispy Kreme and her Rhode label. Basically, Hailey is offering Rhode peptide lip treatments in Krispy Kreme flavors, and Krispy Kreme is bringing back Strawberry Glazed Donuts in association with their Rhode collab. Truly, we all win here.
So, these photos are of HAILEY and Justin BIEBER going into a Krispy Kreme in New York and just? talking with staff and posing for photos. Hailey was all dolled up in a great red (?strawberry?) minidress, while Justin wore Crocs, shorts, a hoodie and a baseball cap. He really made a point of not dressing up for her event, although he did promote her sh-t on his Instagram. Are you getting some kind of vibe from them? The vibe I get from her is that she?s increasingly embarrassed to be seen with her perpetually underdressed husband. After the trip to Krispy Kreme, they went to lunch at Bar Pitti. She booked it out of the restaurant too, like they had a fight.

I?m sort of quietly fine with Hailey Bieber. She?s not my fave or anything, but I believe she gets so much unnecessary hate and online drama from Selena Gomez?s fans. All Hailey did was marry Justin Bieber when he proposed. That?s it. You would think that Selena and her fans would feel like ?thank god, he?s moved on.? They don?t. It?s also clear that Justin adores Hailey and that she?s a very stable person, which is what Justin needs. Anyway, Hailey has her skincare line, Rhode, and she models and she?s Justin?s wife. Hailey recently spoke to the Sunday Times about all of that and more. Some highlights:
Hailey & Justin love to throw gatherings: ?The Biebers love to host. We had a Super Bowl party this year. I really love to cook.? Does she have a go-to dish? ?I like to do some sort of pasta and a protein ? whether it?s salmon or chicken. There?s something ?really joyful about people consuming your food? I like to take care of people.?
On her skincare line, Rhode: ?Skincare is a real-life commitment for me. To this day my nana is obsessed with great skin products. She would take me to the mall and get all the samples.? Although Bieber plans to continue modelling she describes Rhode as a ?primary focus?. ?It?s my favourite thing I?ve ever done. It has exceeded my wildest expectations.?
Her fresh-faced aesthetic. ?As I?ve gotten older I?ve realised how much more comfortable I feel with just fresh skin and brushed-up brows,? she says. For months she buried herself in skincare books and also took an online dermatology course. ?I?m fascinated by the medical field. When I started modelling I used to walk around with a medical terminology book in my bag.? She didn?t consider becoming a doctor? ?I hated studying, so there was no way I was going to go to school for any of this. I didn?t graduate high school because I was home schooled and I dropped out [at age 18], which I don?t love.?
Wearing a ?Nepo Baby? t-shirt. ?That was me being, like, ?I?m very aware of the situation ? I?m going to wear it loud and proud because you are already labelling me as such and it?s true.??
On all of the hate & nonsense she gets online: When I broach the subject today, Bieber?s publicist interjects, telling me to move on. Whatever the truth about her relationship with Gomez, the toxic analysis of it does both women a disservice. While Gomez remains unfairly defined by a relationship she left years ago, Bieber is arguably the victim of mass-scale online bullying that no amount of money or fame can insulate her from. When Bieber later states that she has ?accepted? there?s ?no winning ever? when it comes to the internet?s perception of her, I can?t help but feel for her.
The possibility of Baby Biebers: At some point baby Biebers will be on the cards. How does she feel about bringing children into her extremely privileged yet public life? ?I literally cry about this all the time! I want kids so bad but I get scared. It?s enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can?t imagine having to confront people saying things about a child. We can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.?
She is not a regular churchgoer: ?I don?t remember the last time I went to church on a Sunday. [For me] it?s not about having to go to a service on a certain day of the week. It?s more about loving who?s in front of you. I could be sitting at home on Tuesday watching a live stream of a service and that?s church. Having friends over for dinner and just loving each other is church for me.?

I remember reading Hailey and Justin?s dual interviews when they first got engaged and married, and it was actually pretty clear why Hailey wasn?t focused on having a baby right away because Justin still needed to figure sh-t out in his life and Hailey wasn?t looking to take care of a baby and a husband. I wonder if she still feels like that? I don?t know. I respect the fact that she?s waiting though. I also respect that she?s not trying to say anything which will get her additional hate from Selena?s fans, who pore over every single thing Hailey says publicly and privately. Hailey Bieber turned up at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in Saint Laurent. Two different fabrics, two different shoulders, two different sleeves one gloved, one inexplicably dragging on the floor The latter would drive me crazy. This look is so dramatic, yet somehow still so boring. As is her hair.
Sarah Michelle Gellar wore a beautiful blue floral toile thread work embroidered Oscar de la Renta. Its a great take on a column dress. And the detailing and color are amazing. I love this and she looks like she loves it, which just makes a great look even better. And her eye makeup and earrings match the blue!
Yara Shahidi also popped in red and white Bottega Veneta. She looks like a Valentine in a short column dress and gloves. It looks like the appliqus are flowers and leaves and maybe butterflies? This is a cool look, and also looks like she can move in it. The slicked back hair and subtle makeup work perfectly with the dress. And under the gloves she had a red-tipped manicure.

When you?re a fancy, elite Manhattan restaurant, what kind of publicity is best? ?Big celebrity comes to eat at fancy restaurant? or ?Big celebrity turned away from fancy restaurant?? I think it might be the latter. Carbone is an Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village and Justin Bieber and Hailey thought they could just stop by without a reservation and somehow get a table. They were turned away! How does a restaurant in this economy! justify turning away celebrities like Justin and Hailey? I guess Carbone?s management justifies it because they dropped a tip to gossip outlets and so now they?re getting publicity for being exclusive and hard-to-get-into.
Sometimes, it doesnt matter how famous you are when it comes to taking a bite out of the Big Apple. This proved true for Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber over the weekend, when they were turned away from a famous dining hot spot in New York City. A source tells ET that Hailey and Justin were treated like anyone else would be when they tried to get into the restaurant Carbone without a reservation.
Hailey and Justin love being in New York, says the source. They love hitting up restaurants and shopping.
However, their somewhat humbling experience came when they tried to get into the exclusive Italian restaurant after Justins concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Friday but were politely turned away.
They tried to get into Carbone, says the source, but they got denied.
They didnt let that put a damper on their dinner plans though. The source tells ET that the couple went to nearby Cipriani Socialista instead, and had a great time. The two were spotted entering the establishment. Justin wore a head-to-toe orange outfit, while Hailey wore hip-hugger pants and a white crop-top. The pair also managed to spend a little time together the following day. Another source tells ET that the couple snuck in a private outing Saturday morning around 10 a.m.
They went for an early brunch date, just the two of them, at Cafe Mogador in NYC the morning after the concert,? the source says. Justin is in NYC for work and there?s always a ton of people around, so they really soak up every moment they can when it?s just the two of them.
?When they were alone at brunch they were packing on the PDA! They were super lovey-dovey! adds the source, who says that the date was a quick one. The two were only there for 30 minutes before they had to rush off to other commitments.

I looked up Carbone?s menu (I love doing this, for research purposes) and they charge $20 for a bowl of Minestrone! $25 for a Caesar salad! $40 for a pork chop! Crazy prices. But actually not as excessive as I was thinking. Let me look up Cipiriani?s menu?not as pricey, but still overpriced. Anyway, it doesn?t sound like Justin and Hailey were trying to throw their weight around at Cabrone, they were just told no and they left and went to Cipriani. I imagine it is really fun for them to just go out and visit hot spots and money is no object. Sounds nice.
Justin was really dressed like a traffic cone that night.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin have been married for over three years. It?s hard to wrap my head around, even though they seem pretty happy. They began dating in early 2018, even though they had already dated and had maintained a loose friendship years earlier. In 2018, Justin took sex off the table while they dated and throughout their fast engagement. They were in marriage counseling and couples therapy throughout, and it?s been pretty good for them. Anyway, the Biebers gave an interview to In Good Faith with Chelsea & Judah Smith, a new podcast. They talked about how their faith helps them and Hailey said some interesting stuff.
Hailey on their conversations: We always had so many conversations about, What were our goals? Where did we want to end up at a certain age? We always talked about wanting to be married and be young, and have a young family, and have kids young.
Justin on his mental health struggles: I had experienced so many things in my life. So many milestones and traveled the world and seen everywhere in the world. And I just got to a place where I was lonely, and I just didnt want to do it all alone, he said on the podcast. I realized there was some serious healing I needed to go through in order to get to a place where I could be in a healthy, serious relationship because I had a lot of trauma and scars. So I just committed to working on those things and getting healthy. Luckily, Hailey accepted me as I was. Even when we got married, there was still a lot of damage and hurt that I still needed to work through, but youve seen my heart through it all.
Hailey is ride-or-die: I was in it. I made a decision. I know for a fact that Ive loved this person for a very long time and now would not be the time to give up on him. I just wouldnt do that to him. Imagine abandoning somebody in the middle of the worst time of their life, potentially. Im not that type of a person. So I was going to stick it out no matter what the outcome was going to be.

I?ve gone back and forth on what I think about Justin and Hailey?s marriage and whether it?s actually healthy for either of them. I?ll say this I think Justin is very happy. I think he adores Hailey and he?ll do anything she says, anything she wants. I also think Hailey is very young to commit herself in this way, and I think she?s more ?in charge? of him and their marriage she?s the organized one, the one supporting him, the one telling him what they need to do. Honestly though, this marriage has ended up a lot healthier than I thought it would. I?m also surprised that they haven?t gotten pregnant.
