I?m going to keep writing about the Oscar snubs for Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, even though some of y?all are going to keep commenting sh-t like ?but it was a bad movie? and ?they didn?t deserve anything.? If you want to keep doing the patriarchy?s work, so be it, I can?t stop you. As I?ve said, I?m enjoying all of the thinkpieces, analysis and reactions to the snubs. It?s fascinating to watch as Oscar voters freak out (in a sort of ?are we the villains?? way) and it?s interesting to see, like, Oscar historians talk about how significant these snubs were.
Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwigs individual omissions from the recently announced Oscars 2024 nominations wont be forgotten anytime soon, according to an expert.
Its definitely not a good look that the Academy members left out Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie for directing and starring in a movie thats largely about how impressive women are often marginalized, says Dave Karger, Turner Classic Movies host and author of 50 Oscar Nights.
Even though [Robbie and Gerwig] both received nominations for their work on Barbie in other categories, these two high-profile omissions will be remembered ? and they will Sting ? for a long time, Karger tells PEOPLE.
The films comedic nature may have also affected overall nominations, he adds.
I do think that the Academy membership has a bit of a bias, unconscious or otherwise, against true comedies and towards heavier dramas, says Karger. Greta and Margot surely made it on to thousands of ballots, but since those ballots are weighted towards voters? No. 1 and No. 2 favorites, we can assume they simply didn?t earn enough of those top-tier votes.

Robbie proved herself as one of the top producers in the industry, and Greta is already working on Narnia. But yeah, the snubs will ?sting? for Robbie and Gerwig personally and professionally, and they?ll also Sting for the industry. If there?s one thing AMPAS doesn?t want, it?s to look this out of touch, this sexist, this anti-woman. AMPAS has spent years trying to weather the ?Oscars So White? issues, and now their voters are discriminating against white women who made the most successful and creative movie of the year? Come on, it?s bad.

Paris Fashion Week is still in full swing, and Kim Kardashian?s in town now. Kylie and Kris Jenner have been in Paris for days, and they already attended the Valentino show and Jean Paul Gaultier show (where Kylie ?looked old?). On Thursday, Kris, Kim and Kylie headed out to the Maison Margiela show and they all got fresh looks from the fashion house.
Kim obviously got ?the best? look, I guess. It?s sort of glam/goth and her styling is good here. I prefer Kim with black hair and sort of ?Cher? styling (she loves Cher). The necklace is OTT but it?s fine, it?s supposed to look straight from the runway. Kylie got a silver sequined dress which isn?t bad, although I wouldn?t have gone tea length with it. Kylie?s shoes are horrendous, they look like something Minnie Mouse would wear. Kris looks like her daughters? bodyguard. They?re so funny.
Kylie seems to be doing a copypasta of Kim?s whole aesthetic from several years ago, right? The wet-hair, the heavy makeup, the living doll look.

Zendaya has been attending Paris Fashion Week events in recent days. On Thursday, she stepped out at the Fendi show. Fendi gave her the best dress! Of course they did, she?s Zendaya. I actually love this dress the color is gorgeous, the design is lovely and it ?walks? well. She paired this dress with Louboutins and Bulgari jewels.
The problem is still those dreadful bangs. I will say this Zendaya can pull off any look, including these Vulcan bangs which make her look like Spock. She can do anything. But why would she do THIS? She had the same Vulcan bangs at the Schiaparelli show earlier this week. Given the mismatched hair color, I assume these are clip-in bangs which Zendaya decided to rock throughout PFW. What a weird ?trend? to try to force.
Meanwhile, Law Roach has styled her throughout her PFW events. Law Roach may have quit the ?celebrity stylist for hire? game last year after the Oscars, but he would never quit Zendaya. One thing I?ve wondered about for months though: does Law think Zendaya?s ?house ambassador? gig with Louis Vuitton is a bad idea? Probably not, because Zendaya is apparently not contractually prohibited from attending other runway shows.
Bonus: Reese Witherspoon and her daughter Ava were also at the Fendi show.

Kylie Jenner brought her daughter and her mother to Paris Fashion Week. Kylie attended the Jean Paul Gaultier show (sat front row and got one of the better dresses) and she also took Stormi out to some PFW event. Kylie has become a regular at PFW, and just going from memory, she attends different designers? runway shows every year. One year, Schiaparelli, another year, Acne Studios, this year Gaultier. If you ask me, many designers like her better than Kim. Anyway, people are talking about the Gaultier photos a lot because Kylie got photographed really close-up and they?re saying she looks ?old.?
Kylie Jenner switched up her look yet again after going public with BF Timothe Chalamet revamping her style at Paris Fashion Week but being met with haters in her comments. Check it out yourself the 26-year-old reality star stepped out in a strapless cream-colored sheer flowing dress at the Jean Paul Gaultier show Wednesday a far departure from her bold, skintight outfits that shes been rocking of late.
As you can see Kylie paired the stripped-back ethereal sleepwear-inspired dress with towering heels, minimal makeup and old Hollywood-style locks. A very soft fit, for sure.
She was certainly feeling herself in the moment, and even posted some clips of herself from the show but, unfortunately, a lot of people had less-than-nice things to say about her appearance namely, the notion that she looked a bit old, at least in their eyes.
One person cruelly commented she was aging in dog years, while another added she looked 47 and a third said shed ruined her face. Like we said, very jerk-y remarks.

These photos hit in the middle of the ?Gen Z is ageing like milk while Milennials look young? discourse was happening. Personally, I think Gen Z has always wanted to look older and Kylie is sort of the poster child for that when she was 20/21, she was always styled to look much older, always with the heavy makeup too, and that?s been consistent throughout her teens and twenties. That seems to be a thing across the board with Gen Z women they love heavy makeup, they don?t like a ?fresh face? youthful look, they?ve already started tweaking their faces, and? yeah. That?s Kylie. Madonna was hospitalized in New York last June for a bacterial infection so severe she was in the ICU and put in an induced coma for 48 hours. Thankfully she recovered and was discharged to continue recuperating at home. But the health emergency meant that she couldn?t kick off her Celebration Tour in mid-July. Instead she assured her fans (and Live Nation) that she would be back on track with the European leg of the tour by October. The US leg began in December when she played the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and it was heralded as a triumphant return to New York? when it finally got started more than two hours late. We don?t know if the delay was due to health, technical, or other reasons, but two attendees were not happy about it and have now filed a lawsuit against Her Madgesty:
Two Madonna fans filed a federal lawsuit against the Material Girl for starting her concert several hours late, claiming they had to wake up early for work the next day.
Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden wanted to get into the groove and purchased tickets for Madonna?s Dec. 13 concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
According to the lawsuit, the tickets for the ?Celebration? tour show stated the performance would start at 8:30 p.m. However, Madonna did not take the stage until some time after 10:45 p.m., a habit that appears to be en vogue for the pop superstar.
The men claim that by the time they left the venue at 1 a.m., they were ?stranded? due to limited public transportation options and had to pay more to order a ride-share, which was also experiencing surge pricing due to demand. The concert was held on a Wednesday, and the men are hung up over the fact that they ?had to get up early to work? the next day.
Fellows and Hadden are suing Madonna and Live Nation for ?unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices,? claiming a breach of contract. Barclays Center is also listed as a defendant.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Brooklyn federal court, seeks class action status, alleging the 65-year-old popstar has a ?years-long history? of starting concerts late, including at other ?Celebration? tour stops.

I am not a lawyer, but I did play one on my high school?s mock trial team, and I fear the aggrieved concertgoers have said too much in this statement. The show starting two hours and fifteen minutes late is an undisputed fact (you better believe it was noted in real time on the interwebs). I would think that?s enough of a case right there. I don?t see how these gentlemen sharing that they had to wake up early the next day is strictly relevant ? they bought tickets for a nighttime concert knowing they had work in the morning. That bit isn?t Madge?s fault. And calling attention to the fact that she?s (allegedly) notorious for starting late ? doesn?t that just establish that they should have expected or at least anticipated that this would happen? It just feels like they?re undercutting themselves right from the get, when again, all you have to say is an 8:30pm concert didn?t begin until 10:45pm.
What kills me as a New Yorker, though, is the argument that they were ?stranded!? at Barclays Center. Barclays sits atop perhaps the largest subway station in Brooklyn, if not the whole city. It?s a huge thoroughfare, above and below ground. There are 11 subway lines! Yes, after midnight the frequency of trains is somewhat reduced. But we?re talking about the city that never sleeps! I can personally vouch for being on the subway at that hour, multiple times. If they had to catch transportation like PATH or LIRR out of the city, then the late hour would have been a bigger problem. But if they had to go that far out, a ride-share would have been outrageously expensive anyway, before surge pricing. Aren?t we supposed to factor these logistics into the cost and planning for a night out? Or should I be spending more money on lawyers to get some money back on transit?
Finally, let us not forget that Madonna used to charge her backup dancers $100 a minute for being late to rehearsals. Oh the delicious karma of it all.

Many of us were surprised last summer when Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara announced their separation. They ended up filing for divorce, and everything was finalized quickly (they had a prenup), Joe got custody of Sofia?s dog Bubbles and I think Joe walked away with a couple of million. One of the main issues, as it turned out, was that Joe wanted to become a father and Sofia simply wasn?t into it. She?s already a mom, and her son is already 32 years old (she had Manolo when she was 19). Sofia never really talked about that side of her divorce before now, but she?s currently promoting her Netflix miniseries Griselda, and she ended up addressing it with El Pais:

But make no mistake; Sofa is open to love again ? as long as her next romantic partner has kids of his own. The Emmy Award nominee debuted her relationship with an orthopedic surgeon named Justin Saliman in October 2023. It?s unclear whether he has children.

I think she believed that Joe was fine with it and maybe he was? until he wasn?t. But Sofia has every right to feel this way and if she didn?t want to go through the whole baby rigamarole thing in her late 40s, so be it. That?s her choice.

She didn?t do it for the money, she just did it because she loves Balenciaga, she?s friends with creative director Demna Gvasalia and she loves that these huge labels actually want her to wear their clothes. Kim?s Balenciaga ad campaign blew up in her face a year later, when Balenciaga did a separate campaign which seemed to glorify child abuse and violence. Kim was forced to make a public statement about how she was outraged and disgusted by it. After that? she continued to wear Balenciaga. She continued to be friends with Demna. And now she?s officially the brand ambassador for Balenciaga.
After Kim Kardashian cut ties with Balenciaga in 2022 following backlash in response to a campaign depicting children in questionable light, the beauty brand billionaire is now the face of the luxury fashion house.
The Kardashians star, who has worn the Balenciaga to the Met Gala and walked in one of their Paris Fashion Week shows, was named brand ambassador of the longstanding French fashion house Monday.
For several years now, Balenciagas designs have been a part of my many looks ? and some of my most iconic fashion moments. This historic fashion house embraces modernity, craftsmanship and takes an innovative approach to design under Demna, Kardashian said Monday in a statement shared on her Instagram Story.

What?s crazy about this is still the fact that Kim doesn?t actually need any of this she doesn?t need the money, nor does she even need the ?prestige? of being a brand ambassador for a French label. At this point, all of those designers want Kim to wear their designs. That being said, Kim really does wear so much Balenciaga these days, maybe she was just like ?fk it, I should get paid for this.? I wonder about her brand ambassadorship contract though, and whether it?s anything like her print-ad campaign contract from two years ago. Back then, she was not contractually bound to wear Balenciaga on every red carpet or every event. I wonder if it?s the same now.

Reese Witherspoon must be at her home in Tennessee right now because she?s been making Tik Tok videos about all of the snow they?ve gotten recently. More specifically, she made one video in which she took fresh snow from outside of her house, added a bunch of ingredients to it, and called it a ?salted snowy cappuccino.? After the first video, people blew up her comments to tell her that it was gross and that snow is dirty. So of course, Reese made three follow-up videos. In the first one, she showed a microwaved cup of snow that had turned into clear water while cheekily asking, ?Am I not supposed to eat snow?? You could tell she thought that would be the end of it, but that?s not how the Internet works. In the second response video, Reese basically pulls a YOLO. In the third one, she tries to justify it by sharing that she drank unfiltered water while growing up.
Reese Witherspoon found out the hard way, when you make a TikTok dining on snow, you might get a chilly reception. After scooping freshly fallen snow off of her car with two mugs, Witherspoon added chocolate syrup and salted caramel syrup to the flurries, before topping it off with some cold brew and enjoying. ?Salted snowy capaccino?a snow salt chococinno,? she dubbed the twist on shaved ice.
But not long after she shared her recipe with the world, the world called her gross?in so many words. Fans took to the comments in horror that the Morning Show star was eating snow, which is apparently a controversial practice. ?Am I not supposed to eat snow?? Witherspoon asked in a follow-up video, even microwaving another cup of snow to show that it was clear and not dirty. ?We?re kind of in the category of ?you only live once,? and it snows maybe once a year here. Also I want to say something?it was delicious,? she added. ?I didn?t grow up drinking filtered water, I drank out of the tap,? she said in her third video response to the haters. ?We drank out of the hose, we put our mouth on the hose?maybe that?s why I?m like this.?

Look, bless her heart for trying, but I don?t know, eating snow is an odd hill to die on. If it were me, I wouldn?t have even made the first response video, lol. She should have X?d out of the app and enjoyed her snowy treat. When it comes to the comments, the Internet has the home field advantage, so sometimes its best ignore them. I?m just not sure justifying eating clean snow with ?Back in my day, we drank water out of a hose? is a winning argument. You liked the caramel snow, own it!
Now, to be fair to Reese, she grew up in the South and snow cream is a whole thing down here. I grew up on Long Island and had never heard of it before I moved to the South. Did y?all make snow cream or try to eat snow as kids? My husband and kids tried to make it one time. I did not partake because it wasn?t for me, but I wasn?t going to yuck their snow day yum. I did look it up, though, and scientists say that you can eat snow, but with a lot of caveats. So yeah, let the woman eat her cappuccino-infused snow.

One of the highlights of this awards season so far has been America Ferrera receiving the See Her award from the Critics Choice. At this point I don?t think it?s a spoiler to say (except perhaps to Kevin Costner) that America?s monologue on the expectations put on women is the linchpin of the film. It?s the beating heart underneath all the technicolor high jinx we see play out in Barbie Land and the State of Los Angeles. And America delivers it beautifully, so it was especially nice to see her recognized with the See Her award given that she?s looking more and more like a dark horse for a supporting actress nomination, but we?ll know for sure on Tuesday. America posted a video of her acceptance speech to her Instagram ? yes girl, celebrate yourself! ? and Sharon Stone chimed in with a very unexpected congratulations: in thanking the Barbie team for their ?courage and endurance? in making the film, Sharon revealed that she tried to pitch a Barbie movie back in the 90s? only to be laughed out the door. Le sigh, the patriarchy.
Sharon Stone has revealed that she once attempted to pitch a ?Barbie? movie to a Hollywood studio during the 1990s and was laughed out of the room. What a difference a couple of decades makes, as Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie?s ?Barbie? opened last year and earned a staggering $1.4 billion to become the top-grossing film of 2023 and the biggest earner in Warner Bros.? studio history.
?I was laughed out [of] the studio when I came [with] the Barbie idea in the ?90s [with] the support of the head of Barbie,? Stone wrote in a comment to America Ferrera on Instagram, where the latter shared her powerful acceptance speech from the Critics Choice Awards. ?How far we?ve come. Thank you ladies for your courage and endurance.?
Ferrera is a supporting actor in ?Barbie? and was honored with the See Her award at the Critics Choice Awards. During her speech, she paid tribute to Gerwig and thanked her ?for proving through your incredible mastery as a filmmaker that women?s stories have no difficulty achieving cinematic greatness and box-office history at the same time, and that unabashedly telling female stories does not diminish your powers, it expands them.?
Stone is far from the only actor to try and fail to get a ?Barbie? movie off the ground. Before Gerwig and Robbie perfected their take at Warner Bros., both Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway attempted a ?Barbie? movie at Sony Pictures.

I mean, am I surprised to hear that studios didn?t want to make a Barbie movie back in the 90s, no. Not surprising, but still infuriating. When I think of all the iterations we?ve seen of Batman over the decades, and in essentially the same costume each time, I want to fake hurl like the Barbies do at Margot Robbie?s flat feet. Yes, I know that Batman debuted 20 years before Barbie. Batty Boy is coming up on 85 years old in May, and by a conservative estimate has around 12 live action films. Barbie, by contrast, will be 65 on March 9 and has? one film.

Are people interested in the Mean Girls musical movie? I genuinely can?t tell if people are like ?hell yeah, this will be kitsch fun? or whether it?s just seen as a money-grab. It?s sort of an updated remake with music from the Broadway musical adaptation, with Tina Fey constantly updating the jokes, characters, script and what have you. Tina recently chatted with the New York Times about the new film and how she?s updated a lot of the jokes. I?m still trying to figure out if people are into it?
On the tagline ?This isn?t your mother?s ?Mean Girls??: ?That came from the Paramount marketing department. I want to comfort millennials by telling them that?s just an expression in the English language. And also, when the movie came out, some people who were older than you also went to it. Some people as old as 26 or 27 may have been in the theater with you.
The edits Fey made to many of the less acceptable jokes: ?I was writing in the early 2000s very much based on my experience as a teen in the late ?80s. It?s come to no one?s surprise that jokes have changed. You don?t poke in the way that you used to poke. Even if your intention was always the same, it?s just not how you do it anymore, which is fine. I very much believe that you can find new ways to do jokes with less accidental shrapnel sideways.
Name-calling in the modern age: ?If we really had people speak to each other the way they spoke to each other in 1990, everyone would go to the hospital. People were really rough. People are still horrible, they?re just more likely to anonymously type it. I would like to take but not teach a graduate school class on the ways in which people are just as divisive and horrible as they ever were, but now they couch it in virtue.
Regina isn?t homophobic: ?I know that even Regina would know what wouldn?t fly. She?s going to find a way to inflict pain on people, but she?s not going to get herself in trouble. For example, there?s a joke in the original movie when Janis gets up on the table and Regina says, ?Oh my God, it?s her dream come true: diving into a huge pile of girls.? It was mine and Sam Jayne?s feeling that Regina wouldn?t try that now because she knows the kids around her would be like, ?That?s homophobic.? She would know not to be homophobic, and hopefully, truly would not be homophobic.
When Regina gains weight in the movie musical, the other students? initial reaction is positive ? but then she?s still shamed. ?Look at the famous people that influence Gen Z, and we?re still always talking about their bodies. We?re either attacking other people for talking about it, or commending people for being a size, or we?re questioning how they got to a different size. It felt like a line to figure out. We still want to be talking about how weird and messy everything is for girls, while acknowledging that these standards aren?t mandatory ? but a lot of people are still signing up for them.
Cultural shifts since the 2018 Broadway show: ?If anything, these behaviors have jumped way beyond just young women. It?s in our politics. It?s in everything. People now like to candy-coat and be very virtuous pointing out why you?re a problem, but it?s the same behavior. It?s still, ?Don?t look at me. Look at them. I?m doing great. I might not have nice hair, but she?s fat.?
The idea of bringing back the original cast & making a straight sequel: ?I have a feeling Paramount would love that. I have not really thought much about that. To me, part of why the stakes are so high in the story is because everyone?s so young and feelings are huge, love is huge and friendship is huge in a way [that it isn?t with] middle-age moms. I love writing about middle-aged people, but I don?t know.
She did approach the original cast members to make cameos but it didn?t work out: ?We?ll never know. They?re busy people, so it didn?t come together, but we tried, and we all love each other.

I find all of the conversations about the changing landscape of comedy writing really interesting, and I like what Fey says about understanding that you can?t have teenagers saying certain things these days, but there?s just a baseline of ?these are universal experiences? too. ?We still want to be talking about how weird and messy everything is for girls, while acknowledging that these standards aren?t mandatory ? but a lot of people are still signing up for them.? That?s exactly what is happening, going hand in hand with people are still horrible, but now they?re couching it in virtue-signaling and they?re doing it online. Girls are still mean to each other, people still call each other names, people still feel uncomfortable and awkward in their bodies, but every generation sucks in different ways.
