| Angelina Jolie Covers WSJ Magazine for November 2015 | Added 9 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

Given all that she?s accomplished, both personally and professionally, it?s only natural that Angelina Jolie is the honored recipient of WSJ Magazine?s Entertainment/Film Innovator of the Year award.
In her cover story for the November 2015 issue, the ?Girl, Interrupted? gal chats about her new movie ?By the Sea? in which she starred alongside husband Brad Pitt as well as served as director- ?It was not easy. We just had to be brave and say, ?OK, honey, we?re strong enough to do this; let?s somehow use this to make us stronger.??
Angelina also noted that her relationship dynamic with Pitt had to change while they were on the set- ?We had to stay in our corners, like boxers, and not be husband and wife. It was very hard to do those scenes without Brad and I taking care of each other. Normally in between takes, you?d make sure that the other?s OK, but we had to be able to really get ugly.?

| Angelina Jolie covers WSJ. Mag: 'so many times, people divorce very quickly' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?ve just spent way too much time reading Angelina Jolie?s WSJ. Magazine cover story. It?s a good piece, but not the best. Like, there?s a lot of stuff that I already knew, and there were a lot of quotes that are variations on stuff Angelina has said time and time again. But I did learn some new things. Like, Brad & Angie own a ?lakeside retreat? near Springfield, Missouri and the Jolie-Pitt clan vacations there with Brad?s extended family. I also learned something new about By the Sea, as in? I think this is the plot of the film? I think Angelina?s character is dying and Brad?s character is trying to figure out a way to let her go. Some highlights:
What Brad hates: ?Brad hates that I always scratch my glasses.?
Growing up in LA: ?I grew up in L.A., where focus is very inward. I didn?t know why I was so destructive and miserable. I didn?t appreciate or understand my life. I was raised in a place where if you have fame and money and you?re decent-looking and have the ability to work in this industry, you have everything in the world. Then you attain those things and realize you still couldn?t be more empty. I didn?t know where to put myself.?
What Marie-Noelle Little-Boyer, a U.N. officer says about Angelina: ?The trips are never about her; it?s about what she sees and how she uses it, how it feeds her advocacy work. She has the rare ability to sit down and spend hours with refugees, but she has an equally deft touch when she advocates for them with political leaders. I sometimes think she spends more time in the field than a lot of my colleagues.? And certainly more time than the great majority of her fellow actors. Little-Boyer speaks with barely disguised disdain of the ?massive circus groups? organized for Hollywood stars. ?They stop at one tent and hold a baby,? she says. ?That?s precisely not what these trips are with [Jolie Pitt]. It?s just refugees and her in this intimate space. There?s no place for anything Hollywood or celebrity.?
She?s sparse about what she says on the record about the UN: ?I don?t want to speak up just to be on record. I?m not somebody who believes that just to criticize is going to make a difference.?
Brad on his wife?s surgeries: ?She?s never been a person who hides. She?s utterly forthcoming and sincere about who she is? I?ll tell you this about her surgeries: Once the decision was made, she was on the operating table two weeks later. You have to understand that this is a woman who never knew she?d make it to 40. This is a woman who had watched her mother, aunt and grandmother become sick and eventually succumb, all at an early age. Her drive, her absolute value in herself, is defined by the impact she can have during her time here?for her kids and for the underprivileged and those suffering injustices.?
Angie on the reminders of her wild-child past: ?I don?t mind. I mean, I think you just have to look at whether or not you can still be effective with what you want to do. And if anything gets in the way of that, then you have a problem. But I don?t.?
An amazing story about Hamsters of Doom. Equally comical is the image of Jolie Pitt, still in costume as her character Vanessa, joining the kids at the local pet store to acquire what ended up being ?quite a few? hamsters. Pitt was out of town, and Jolie Pitt had been charmed by the sight of some chipmunks in the window, so she met the children there after work. ?So I was Vanessa in the pet store, which was already a whole bunch of weird. And then I put my finger near a chipmunk, and it nearly bit it off. Then we saw these tiny little miniature hamsters, and somehow everybody wanted one or two. By the time Dad got home, they were running everywhere. And there are cats all over Malta, so we had the cats going after the hamsters and the hamsters escaping and it was hysterical.?
What she wants for her kids: ?I want to make sure my kids are never worried about me. Even if I?m going through something, I make sure they are very aware that I?m totally fine. I?ll stop and make a joke, I talk to them. I never, ever want them to have that secret worry and feel that they have to take care of me.?
On divorce: ?When something happens in your life that?s a dramatic thing, you either pull together or you go into your own. So many times, people divorce very quickly. To me, if this film has a message, it?s that you have to try to weather the storm together no matter what. And that?s a beautiful thing.?
[From WSJ. Magazine]
While I proudly wear my Brangeloonie Badge, I have to say that I think it?s a bit rich for Angelina to say ?So many times, people divorce very quickly.? Gurl, you were divorced twice before you were 30. You couldn?t get out of the marriage to Billy Bob Thornton fast enough. I get that she?s now coming from a perspective of being in a solid relationship for a decade, but a little less judgment for those people with ?starter marriages? under their belts, please. Oh, and Angelina also told WSJ. Magazine that the kids have three teachers on staff for home-schooling, but that no one stays overnight, it?s just Brad and Angie taking care of the kids in the evenings. Do you believe that?

| Jennifer Lawrence in Dior at the 'Mockingjay 2' premiere in Berlin: stunning' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jennifer Lawrence has been going for a more grown-up vibe lately in her interviews as she promotes Mockingjay – Part 2, so she did the same for her world premiere dress in Berlin. This plungy, plum-colored gown is Dior couture, and I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first. From the front, it’s nothing special, but when JLaw turns to the side, total glamour happens. How is that possible? The gown truly looks boring from a straight-on, forward perspective. The color of the dress, however, works so well with the red-carpet wallpaper and movie posters that decorated the venue.
This dress doesn’t even look like Raf Simons’ current designs at Dior, but he’s on the way out anyway. Jennifer is ushering in a new fashion mood for not only herself but also the fashion house. I would have preferred her hair loose, as the updo makes her look so mature, but that was probably the point.
Elizabeth Banks never gets it wrong when it comes to the red carpet, and she went full-on fairytale with this exquisite Elie Saab gown. The dress looked beautiful from all angles and just as gorgeous from afar as it was up close. What do you think of the gold crown? Very risky and bold, and not everyone could pull this off, but Banks makes it shine.
Jena Malone wore a Reem Acra gown that looked like the budget version of what Elizabeth wore. This dress does pale in comparison, although there’s the same romantic, surreal vibe from both sets of fabric. They both tried to be futuristic, floating princesses, but Elizabeth had the superior dress.
Natalie Dormer tried for the fashion-forward vibe, but it just didn’t suit my tastes. The pattern was so blocky and looked out of place on a red carpet. Maybe for an art gallery opening, this would have fit right in.
Willow Shields wore a Marni gown that would have looked better in a more fun color. With the shades of brown, it looks pretty curtain-y and dated, especially on such a young lady.
I’m including photos of all the men in attendance. Donald Sutherland was bringing scarfy back. Sam Claflin looked exhausted, but Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth brought the energy. Here’s my boy, Stanley Tucci, for his final encore as Cesar Flickerman.

| Angelina Jolie discusses the Sony Hack, marriage & more with the NY Times | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m pretty excited that the Brangelina Drought is over. I was Brangelina-Parched. Angelina has a new interview with The New York Times, the paper of record and one of her favorite outlets. It?s funny to me that Angelina truly saved her best quotes for the NYT, as opposed to Vogue. Vogue would have bent over backwards to accommodate Angelina?s every wish to frame certain issues in certain ways, but maybe that?s the point ? Angelina doesn?t need a media outlet to ?frame? any issue for her. She can speak for herself. And while she wouldn?t say one word about Amy Pascal and Scott Rudin to Vogue, she actually discusses the whole situation with the NYT, the paper of record. You can read the full NYT piece here. Highlights:
Her expectations for ?By the Sea?: ?I know some people are going to hate it. Some are going to like it. But it was important to me to feel like an artist again.?
Whether getting married changed anything: ?It was just a nice thing. For me, the big moment was when [we] signed the [joint adoption] papers for Maddox and Zahara. That was a decision to parent together, to commit to being a part of each other?s lives for the rest of my life. So [marriage] wasn?t close in comparison. In a way, it was very casual? The ceremony was in France, but we had to do things legally in California. One day I was in the edit room, and [Brad] was doing something and an assistant said, ?You have to sign some papers.? So we came back and between meetings we were told, ?Here?s your license.? Then someone said, ?The judge is outside.? We both said, ?What do you mean, the judge is outside?? Then the judge came in, this lovely guy, and at some point, Brad said, ?Shouldn?t we be standing up?? The judge said, ?No.? Then suddenly we realized we were married, in the most unceremonial way possible.?
At first, she didn?t want to star in ?By the Sea?: ?There were lots of scenes I wanted to change or cut. I realized it was going to be me [naked] in that bathtub. But I told myself, put all of that aside. Like, you can?t change or cut this scene because you?ve had a mastectomy, or because we?re married and people are going to analyze this or that. That would be cheating.?
On sexism & being one of the few prominent female directors: ?I just think that sometimes people in the business focus on the fact that you?re a minority. I don?t want people saying, ?Should we get a female director?? I want to hear, ?Should we get a great director for this movie?? But I?m the first female director that Brad?s ever worked with. That doesn?t seem right when you think about it?Sexism is part of every industry and must be addressed. But I try not to focus on the negative but the positive side of what we can bring. I want to support other women because of the opportunities I?ve had ? and I?ve had a lot of opportunities. What I try as a female director is to do the best job I can and in the meantime bring attention to as many other female directors and writers as I can. Right now I am producing ?The Breadwinner,? an animated film about Afghanistan. Nora Twomey is the director.?
On Brad?s experience being directed by a woman/his wife: ?I?m not just a woman, but a writer-director. We?re also husband and wife. I think it was doubly hard. We know certain things about each other. At first it was a little uncomfortable. You want to be careful what button you press and what you don?t. At the same time, he later said he felt like he could be the most open in his acting, because he trusted I was genuinely there to help him give the best performance.?
The Sony Hack emails: ?I didn?t read any of them?.Someone told me. There are certain things that bother me and certain things that don?t. Personal attacks on me? I think I?m just so used to it. Honestly, my first instinct was that I was worried about Amy. I had someone call her and ask if she was O.K. Not because I?m a saint, but because I think we have to look at the bigger picture. She?s got kids. I knew it was going to unravel for her.?
Whether she would ever do a rom-com: ?I love comedies. But I?m never asked to do anything even self-mocking. I tried to do comedy when I was younger. It didn?t work. I don?t think I?m very funny.?
[From The NYT]
The Sony Hack answer is? whoa. She loaded a lot into just a few sentences. I think my favorite quote now is ?Not because I?m a saint, but because I think we have to look at the bigger picture.? Damn, Angie! Way to give your detractors a wink. But I love that Angelina heard about the emails and Angie ?had someone call? Pascal. As in, Angelina wasn?t going to call Pascal herself. Because the emails really were that bad.
At the end of the interview, she?s asked if she?s worried that the audience will think By the Sea is a self-portrait, and Angelina says that she and Brad don?t share the particular ?issues? with their characters but it is ?true? that ?we have terrible fights, are imperfect, have insecurities and can be depressed and emotional? We have problems, arguments. We are two very human, flawed people.? Which means that at least one time, in real life, Brad really has cried and stormed out of the house while the Leg of Doom cackled at the window.
PS… The ID on the blue dress is Luisa Beccaria. We have even more photos of Brangelina for another post, so no threadjacking!

| Angelina Jolie in Tom Ford at the WSJ. Magazine event: stunning or tired? | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

OMG. Here are photos of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the WSJ. Magazine 2015 Innovator Awards in NYC last night. They are wearing his-and-hers Tom Ford. Is this the first time Angelina has worn Tom Ford? Maybe. Update: she’s worn Tom Ford at least once before. Even though she has about a million black dresses and gowns, I really like this one. It?s flattering, I like the velvet and the back detail and her skin looks great. She doesn?t look so tired here. But Brad still looks exhausted! Jewelry note: Angelina?s earrings are 30 CARAT Lorraine Schwartz diamonds with a ?rose cut.? Do you think she borrowed those or does she own them?
Angelina was recognized by the Wall Street Journal as their ?2015 Entertainment/Film Innovator.? The WSJ. Magazine just released their cover story too, but I?ll be covering the quotes and photos in a separate post because OMG. At the WSJ event, Angelina reunited with her Good Shepherd director, Robert DeNiro. They greeted each other with kisses and DeNiro actually looked pleased to see her.
During Brad and Angelina?s Q&A session two nights ago, Brad was asked about what it was like being directed by Angelina. He said, in part: ?Angie and I have such history now ? 10 years ? we?ve been through many things .?.?. She doesn?t have to say anything for me to know what she?s feeling. I certainly know when she doesn?t like a take.?

| Emily Ratajkowski: Europeans are more comfortable with nudity & sexuality | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
I would never consider Emily Ratajkowski one of my favorite celebrities in the world or anything, but I enjoy covering her. She is, at this point, very much the Cool Girl. She?s pretty but not ?threatening,? hot but accessible, a ?guy?s girl? without alienating women. Is she the brightest bulb? Not really, but she?s not a dumb bunny either. She self-identifies as feminist, she talks openly about her sort of hippie, beachy, bohemian lifestyle and outlook, and she?s really not that bad. Anyway, Emily chatted with NY Magazine about nudity and the differences between how Americans react to female nudity versus the way Europeans react.
We already know that nudity is no big whoop for model turned actress Emily Ratajkowski. It was embraced in her home growing up and she didn’t get all that hoopla following her appearance in Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” video. So when we saw the Gone Girl star at last night?s Harper’s Bazaar event, we had to ask: How can we, the American public, be as cool and body-confident as she is?
“Go to Europe. Travel. If you spend any time there you notice it right away ? their comfort level is different.” Ratajkowski continued: “You see more women being openly sexual like it’s not a big deal, without them having to be oversexualized. They are celebrated. You see it on the beaches, daughters with their mothers. It’s not a big deal to see your mom naked. It’s actually quite normal.”
But what makes us so dang uptight to begin with? “I don’t know if it’s about being frigid,” she said. “It’s more about the constant sexualizing [of] women without actually celebrating women. I think it’s more a misdirection of values and femininity rather than the country being frigid.”
[From New York Magazine]
Is this the most profound statement ever made? No. But I agree with her and I appreciate the fact that a young model/actress thinks in terms of how society objectifies and sexualizes women and girls and how that?s a ?misdirection of values.? And yes, Europeans experience nudity (of all forms) in a completely different way than Americans. Nudity is normal there. People go topless on the beach, everyone gets naked at the spa, and there?s a ton of nudity in advertising, films, television and commercials.

| Eddie Murphy, 54, is expecting his ninth child with girlfriend Paige Butcher | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
It?s sort of amazing to think of how ?undercover? Eddie Murphy is about most of his life. I was reading about him last month, when he came to Washington, DC to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor (this recent WaPo interview with Murphy is pretty good), and I was sort of astonished to learn about some of the stuff he?s up to? but quietly. He?s often called a ?hermit? or ?intensely private,? but the truth is that he?s just not a famewhore. He lives his life and he doesn?t seek attention. He?s incredibly famous but most people just leave him alone.
Anyway, Eddie has been dating Paige Butcher ? the leggy blonde in these photos ? since 2012. Paige doesn?t seem to be a famewhore either ? they get pap?d together sometimes in LA, but I literally know nothing about her and I?m not sure she?s ever said a word about their relationship. She?s still not saying anything? on the record. But ?somehow,? the Daily Mail got the exclusive information that Paige and Eddie are expecting. This will be her first child and Eddie?s NINTH CHILD. His ninth child with fifth baby-mama. Whoa. And Eddie is 54 years old, Paige is 36.
Eddie Murphy, 54, is going to be a dad again. The Oscar-nominated actor and his girlfriend, Paige Butcher, 36, will welcome a newborn in May 2016. This will be the comedian’s ninth child, his first with Butcher.
‘He couldn’t be happier. Eddie really is a family man and loves all of his children, so he’s so excited about having another one on the way,’ a source close to the entertainer exclusively told Daily Mail Online.
Murphy fathered five children – Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola and Bella – ranging in ages from 26 to 13 with his ex-wife Nicole Murphy, whom he divorced in 2006 after 22 years of marriage. The ‘Dreamgirls’ star also had three children outside of the marriage ? a son Eric, 26, by Paulette McNeely; a son, Christian, 25, by Tamara Hood; and a daughter, Angel Iris, 8, by former Spice Girl singer Melanie ‘Mel B’ Brown.
‘Even though he has eight children by four different women, they all come together on holidays and for sporting events and hang out at his mansion as one big blended family. All of the children love each other dearly and the women, having all moved on with their own relationships, co-exist very well together,’ the source said.
[From The Daily Mail]
The Daily Mail?s sources also say that Paige is credited with taking Eddie out of his hermit-crab shell a little bit over the past three years, and she?s encouraging him to go back to stand-up (which he hasn?t done in decades). So? huh, I?ll say something nice. At least this isn?t a one night stand or some random hookup. Paige and Eddie have been dating for three years and they obviously care about each other and have a strong foundation. So maybe this isn?t all bad news. Maybe Paige isn?t about to get Mel B?d.
