I go back and forth on Gwyneth Paltrow?s career these days, and I?m talking about her acting career, not her side-projects with Goop and Tracy Anderson. Gwyneth is supposed to an actress, and an A-list actress at that. She?s won an Oscar, she?s worked with major directors, she?s told Courtney Love: ?Once you?re A-list, you?re always A-list.? I know how Gwyneth thinks of herself, and she sees herself as a movie star. But Gwyneth has also ?slummed it? on Glee and tried to make herself into a country singer, deigning to perform on country music shows and the like. I also think that film roles began drying up for Gwyneth several years ago, which is why she looked to amuse herself with projects like Goop. So, would Gwyneth deign to do TV on a more permanent basis? She might. But Star Mag says that TV doesn?t want her.
It isn?t just some of her fans who are fed up with Gwyneth Paltrow?s elitist antics ? Hollywood is following suit.
?Her difficult behavior and diminishing star power have made it difficult for her to get leading movie roles,? divulges an industry insider. Now Gwyneth has turned to her Plan B: a TV role. However Gwyneth?s diva ways aren?t any more welcome on the small screen.
?Networks have been interested in her, but she wants $1 million per episode ? and it?s ridiculous! Plus she wants control of casting and script changes. She drives people crazy, so they move on.?
The source says Gwyneth?s bad attitude cost her leading roles on two upcoming prime-time shows, CSI: Cyber and Bad Judge.
?Now she?s starting to panic, but unless she gets a reality check, this will keep happening. People won?t keep putting up with her forever.?

I really can?t see Gwyneth on a CSI spinoff, although the money would be great. She just wouldn?t do that, I think. But I could see her being interested in a premium cable show, like Masters of Sex (something like that) or even something that was built around her, like Halle Berry got with CBS?s Extant. Again, I?m of two minds on this ? I think Gwyneth probably needs the money and she needs a steady paycheck, because keeping up four massive properties around the world is expensive. But I also don?t think she would deign to do TV on a more permanent basis. In any case, Gossip Cop spoke to Gwyneth?s rep and he said the Star story is ?all made up.? But who believes Gwyneth?s rep these days? That?s the same person who was denying, denying, denying that there was any trouble in Gwyneth and Chris?s marriage.

Treating herself to a gourmet feast, Rihanna dropped by her favorite Italian eatery Da Silvano in Manhattan on Thursday evening (July 31).
The ?Umbrella? songstress donned a striped grey top with skinny jeans and black heels as she scampered inside to avoid the paparazzi outside.
Rihanna is gearing up for the big kickoff of her Monster Tour with Eminem and on Wednesday she flew into Detroit for a rehearsal.
Em and Ri-Ri will launch The Monster Tour on August 7th at the Rose Bowl, followed by gigs in New York City and The Motor City.

Jada Pinkett Smith has a new interview with Net-A-Porter, which was brought to my attention by the excellent E! Online. (We need more entertainment news channels. I mean ESPN isn’t the only sports network, there’s Fox Sports. Not that E! doesn’t do a good job, except for their Kardashian problem, but there’s a market for another celebrity news network.) Jada’s editorial is absolutely gorgeous too. It features Jada in structural black and white dresses in a city/urban setting. She looks killer, they did a great job as we’ve come to expect. Net-A-Porter has some of the best editorials around, and you can see Jada’s photos here.
I went off on a minor tangent there because I really don’t want to parse Jada Pinkett Smith’s word salad. She is heavily influenced by Scientology, and it shows in her personal philosophy and her very roundabout way of phrasing things. (She’s not as bad as Ashley Judd, though, and as far as I know Judd isn’t in a cult.) Jada talks about how she is letting her kids be their own people, a theme she and husband Will Smith talk about frequently, and about how her marriage is ok… I think. Jada has hinted in the past that she has an open marriage, or that Will cheats and she’s come to peace with it. I get the impression that she’s saying that again here in a roundabout way.
The actress and mother of two came to daughter Willow Smith’s defense again during an interview with high-end shopping site Net-a-Porter, when she was asked about the controversial photo of her 13-year-old lying in bed with a shirtless Moiss Arias, 20.
“Just don’t pollute something that’s not dirty,” she says, shaking her head. “It’s really tough. I feel like the connection to the value of women on a bigger scale has decreased tremendously. Even though you look and go, ?Women have so many opportunities,’ it’s like, ?Yeah, but at what cost?’
“Are women valued for being women, or are women valued when they have more masculine qualities? Men and women encompass both female and masculine energies, but it seems like when the feminine is present, it’s not respected.”
Pinkett Smith also noted earlier in the interview, “I want my kids to be happy and I want them to be themselves. I was saying to a friend the other day, ?Remember, our kids are not us.’ They’re not. Sometimes we’re trying to fix things that happened to us or projecting [onto them], and that’s a terrible, terrible trap.”
Speaking of her family life, Jada also opened up about her marriage to funnyman Will Smith, gushing about how much the actor means to her and confessing that it took some time to get to where they’re at.
“We used to have all these rules, [but] as you go on in your relationship, you just get into a flow,” she says. “The thing I love is being in a place where it’s just like, Will, to me, encompasses everything. It’s almost as if calling him ‘my husband’ is too small of a word for what he means in my life?and especially how I feel we, as women, identify the idea of a husband.
“I really had to mature and expand that. I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be. Once I broke all of that, a whole new world opened for me and man, oh, man, I got to see him in all his glory. And so that’s what it’s evolved into. And I’m just ecstatic about it.”
As for all of the tabloid rumors that surround their relationship, Pinkett Smith says they don’t even pay it any mind.
“The coping technique is knowing what the truth is? here’s no better technique. When you know that what’s going on in your house is so the opposite [of what's being said], and you also know that when there’s mystery, people fill in the gaps, that’s OK,” she says. “And then you look back at it and look at how creative people can be, and it’s kind of entertaining. We can laugh because it’s so ridiculous. But I get it. I don’t take it personally.”

I like Jada’s stance on the tabloids and how she’s ok with it, she gets it and doesn’t take it personally. It sounds like she has a similar approach to her marriage “it is what it is.” She loves Will and he loves her and things don’t have to be perfect. To me infidelity is a deal breaker but maybe to them it isn’t. I can respect that. As long as they’re both ok with it and it’s not one-sided.

She?s always been quite a stunner, and Taylor Swift reminded the world of her gorgeous gams while out in Manhattan on Thursday (July 31).
Sporting a monochrome striped minidress and oxford heels, the ?Mean? hitmaker carried her Pink Prada handbag into a studio as fans and shutterbugs looked on.
Ms. Swift is said to be working on some new material as of late, and she recently told Entertainment Tonight that she knows exactly why her music has such an impact on her fans.
"To me emotion is such an important part of my life, and now I guess my job. People wouldn't listen to my songs if they weren't heartbroken, or deeply affected and hurt, and jilted and sad and bitter and all those wonderful things that I write songs about,? she noted.

I?m about to give LeAnn Rimes credit for something nice: I kind of think the publicity campaign for the VH1 show has been pretty good. I?m comparing it to LeAnn?s publicity tours for other works, like her last major album launch (Spitfire) and her various ?We In Love? tours over the years. Just last year, LeAnn oversaturated the market very quickly when she was promoting Spitfire, and the ?all about Wewe, all the time? vibe was one of the reasons the album did so miserably. Plus, LeAnn plays the victim about everything ? she?s the eternal martyr and no one ?understands? all of the terrible things she?s had to put up with just to be with Eddie. There?s been a lot less of all of that during the promotional tour for the VH1 show. It?s a sweet relief.
One of the good things about this campaign is that LeAnn and Eddie are spreading out their press over the course of a month. It?s not like they?re doing all of the major shows and magazines in one week?s time. This week, they?ve got an exclusive interview with People Mag. It would have been okay except that LeAnn is still a delusional martyr.
The photographers are all over LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian these days ? but this time, they’ve invited them. The tabloid targets have welcomed VH1?s cameras into their Los Angeles house to shoot LeAnn & Eddie, giving the duo a chance to dispel misconceptions about their romance. The country singer and the actor (who most recently starred on TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland) married in 2011.
“People are always wanting to make it a story of me being a homewrecker and trying to take someone’s kids,” Rimes, 31, tells PEOPLE. “They take the love I have for my family and twist it around in some weird, sick way.”
Although their series won’t feature Cibrian’s kids ? Mason, 11, and Jake, 7 ? from his previous marriage to reality star Brandi Glanville, he says it will show how fiercely devoted he is to his singer wife.
“The biggest global misconception would be that we’re not two people who are really in love with each other, that there are ulterior motives to our relationship,” says Cibrian, 41. “But people just don’t get it. Hopefully people will get a chance to see how we just click.”

I like to check in with Kate Bosworth every now and then, even if she hasn?t had anything going on since 2010. And even then, the only thing she had going on in the gossip sense was that she was banging Alexander Skarsgard. These days, The Bos has married her Skars-rebound, Michael Polish, and that?s about it. Not a lot of film or TV projects on the horizon, but she?s fashioned a career for herself out of being ?fashionable? and appearing on the occasional magazine cover. Somehow, she finagled her way onto the September cover of InStyle UK. How is The Bos deserving of a September cover? I don?t know. But it?s a pretty good cover (I like that they didn?t Photoshop her heterochromia) and the shoot is okay (the black & white pic is stunning). Some highlights from the interview:
Kate Bosworth is talking about starting a family! The 31-year-old actress, who married director Michael Polish in August 2013, says being a stepparent to Polish’s 16-year-old daughter, Jasper, has made her want to have children of her own.
“After ordering pizza for the third time when she first started coming over, I knew I had to learn how to cook because I wanted to nurture her,” Bosworth says in the latest issue of InStyle U.K. “These maternal instincts kicked in.”
The blond beauty says she and Polish have talked about starting a family.
“I know that it’s going to be tough, but Michael and I will find humor in it,” the cover girl said of motherhood. “We’re already convinced that our kids will do things that are hilarious.”

You know how I keep a list of people who are interesting or notable interviews? The Bos has never made the list. She?s super-boring. And I really do think that her relationship with Michael is kind of weird. But I guess she?s trying to be a good step-mom. God bless.
As for what she?s promoting these days? well, I guess she does have at least one thing she?s trying to do. She?s launching the Style Thief app, where you take a photo of someone?s street style and the app will show you clothes that are similar and you can shop the stuff online. I was on the fence on whether to cover a bunch of stuff about Selena Gomez. Then I noticed that her new movie, Behaving Badly, has scored a whopping 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Not a single critic has liked this movie, which is supposed to be a raunchy comedy. The poster alone looks awful (I’ve included it at the bottom of this post). Then I noticed these photos of Selena stepping out for a “meeting” yesterday in LA. From the front, she looks casual and appropriate for a (casual) event. From the back, she had about three inches of cheek hanging out.
You can see the unblurred photos here. These pictures are shocking. Selena almost always keeps up a wholesome appearance in public even though we’ve heard so many tales about her partying and wild behavior. Visible cheeks seem like a cry for help. Even moreso than social media meltdowns, possible boob job, and a rehab stint. Ugh, and those shorts look really uncomfortable.
This week’s issue of InTouch is all over the meltdown theme. Some of this is based upon Selena’s recent yacht partying with Cara Delevigne:
* Selena’s 22nd birthday week in St. Tropez was an extended party binge with Cara Delevigne. They regularly partied in nightclubs until 6 a.m. “Selena had a lot to drink,” says an eyewitness. “She went totally wild.” A friend says, “Selena parties until she passes out. It’s sad because she can’t even go to someplace like Disneyland and have a good time without partying. She actually has gone to Disneyland high on magic mushrooms.
* Demi Lovato is still sick of Selena’s bullsh-t in general.
* Selena loves smoking pot and also does ecstasy and cocaine. Says a pal, “She was at a party in Beverly Hills [last year] and kept going to the bathroom and leaving the door open as she partied with two other girls. She wasn’t discreet at all. At another party, she was taking swigs of vodka, and as people were rolling and smoing joints, she poured a gray powder into hers,” says the friend. “I said, ‘Selena, what are you doing. You’re going to ruin everything!’ She smoked it anyway.”
* We already knew that Selena fired her parents as managers in April, but she also put the $3.5 million house she’d bought them in 2011 for sale. A source says that “Selena hasn’t spoken to them in weeks.”
* Her family feels that time is running out, especially with so many new bad influences. “Cara is a well-known aprtier and hte last person Selena needs to be around right now. But Selena just wants to be around people who want to party and have fun and not take life seriously, which is what Cara does.”
* Selena is “smitten” with Italian playboy Tommaso Chiabra, who owns a luxury travel concierge company (he’s also a Lohan conquest). But she is “hooking up with a lot of different guys right now.”
* To summarize: “She’s completely gone off the rails.”

How much of this is true? I believe a lot of it. Selena is a mess. This week’s issue of Star adds drama with an anecdote from the “I dated an A-lister” feature. A guy says that he took Selena to dinner: “Once we sat down, she started bawling. Everyone was staring and pointing, but she didn’t care.” Through a napkin full of snot (gross!) and mascara, Selena told the guy she couldn’t stop thinking about her ex-boyfriend. Swaggy strikes again.
One more thing: In the wake of Justin Bieber and Orlando Bloom’s boyfight in Ibiza, Selena wants everyone to know that she and Orly never hooked up. They simply smoked a cigarette together.

I sometimes worry that I?m too unemotional. I?ve been accused of talking, writing, thinking and acting ?like a man? many times before, which I?ve always taken as someone else?s observation that I?m not into the frilly, touchy-feely stuff of life. I have a low tolerance for pillow-weepers, for one. Unless it?s Lloyd Dobler, I?m not really interested in man-tears, especially after (or during) sex. Incidentally, that was one of the worst parts of the Fifty Shades of Grey book ? after every sex act, it felt like Ana Steele started weeping. STOP CRYING. I don?t even like men who have that ?pillow-weeper look? which can basically be summed up as: Jim Sturgess.
So, maybe that?s why I?ve never been into Ryan Gosling. Maybe somewhere, in the deepest recesses of my mind, I realized that Gosling is what I hate/fear the most: a guy who cries after sex. At least that?s what one ?source? tells Star Magazine in their cover story this week, which is all about normal, non-celebrity people who have dated celebrities. The Gosling story is one of the best!
Ryan Gosling brought movie fans to tears in The Notebook. But on one date, it was Ryan who turned on the waterworks.
?He was the best lover I?ve ever had,? recalls a curvy blonde, who shared a night of passion with Ryan after meeting him at a nightclub. But once the lovemaking was over, things took a turn.
?I thought I heard him sniffling,? she says. ?Then I realized he had tears gushing down his face. I asked if he was all right, and he said he gets emotional sometimes.?

I?m not completely heartless. If you?re in a committed, loving relationship, I could see how a dude crying after sex would be a good thing, a sign of true emotional maturity.
