Angelina Jolie did not get an Oscar nomination for Pablo Larrain?s Maria. She?s actually the first actress in Larrain?s ?famous women? series to not receive an Oscar nom for his films Kristen Stewart got a nomination (her first) for Spencer, and Natalie Portman got a nom for Jackie. Jolie is the first one named in all of the ?Oscar snub? lists, but can I just say? I?m genuinely shocked that Nicole Kidman and Denzel Washington were snubbed too. Nicole is a perennial awards favorite she got an Oscar nomination for that god-awful Lucille Ball movie, for goodness sake and Denzel (arguably America?s greatest living actor) was the best part of Gladiator II, and he was having a fking ball and chewing the scenery.
In any case, yes, Angelina was snubbed. Her name was trending yesterday after the Oscar nominations came out, but I had already made my peace with the fact that Jolie wasn?t going to get a nom. She had already been snubbed for a BAFTA nom and a SAG nom, so I knew what was up. It just wasn?t going to happen. The question is? why? Was it all down to how Hollywood took Brad Pitt?s side? Well, funny that, because Brad Pitt?s favorite outlet, Page Six, had this exclusive:
Angelina Jolie is surely ?devastated? over being snubbed by the Oscars after pouring her own pain into ?Maria,? Hollywood insiders say. Jolie, 49, spent months learning to sing for the role of Maria Callas ? and said she made the opera singer?s anguish ?personal to me.? Although nominated for a Golden Globe, she missed out on a nod by both the SAG Awards and the Academy of Motion Pictures, which announced its contenders Thursday.
?Angelina will be devastated ? look at all the press she did for the film ? she wanted to get nominated,? a senior awards source said. ?She did Jimmy Fallon, her first late-night show in over a decade. She even went to the Gotham awards. She did all these magazine covers.?
The star made her acting comeback in biopic ?Maria? after taking a few years off, and a second Hollywood awards expert told Page Six that Jolie would undoubtedly be upset ? adding the Oscars snub ?wasn?t great for Angelina ? or Netflix [which produced the film].?
A movie insider, meanwhile, insisted the snub comes down to Jolie?s very public divorce from Brad Pitt.
?This just shows that Hollywood is Team Brad,? said the insider. ?The Globes showed that the foreign press loves her, but that?s not Hollywood. Nobody was going to go against Brad and give Angelina a vote ? people just love Brad.?
Pitt and Jolie finally resolved their bitter divorce in December after eight years of intense legal fighting. At the time, Jolie?s lawyer James Simon admitted that she was ?exhausted? and trying to find healing for her family.
Another Tinseltown source, however, told Page Six, ?The divorce is done, and yes, politics do come into play a little alongside the films and the performances. But the fact is that there are a lot of first-time nominees shows that we still have a healthy industry.?

I hate that they?re throwing ?she wanted a nomination? in her face? like, yeah, they all want nominations. ALL of the actors on the awards-season circuit want to get nominated for their performances. I genuinely loved seeing Angelina go out and hustle a little bit. She ?went outside? for the first time in many years and it was so fun to see her, and people loved seeing her at those Q&A sessions and screenings and film festivals. It was fun, and it didn?t end in an Oscar nom and that?s fine. This reads like Brad Pitt gloating that his years-long campaign against her worked. PS? I blame those fakakta bangs too. Never soft-launch bangs in the middle of the awards season! The bangs jinx!!!

While theyre rarer lately, we still get the occasional blind item straight from a celebrity?s mouth. This week we got a nice one from Kristin Davis. I always forget this, but Kristin?s career started long before Sex and the City. She was on Melrose Place from 1992 until 1995. Kristin now has a podcast about her SATC experience, called ?Are You A Charlotte?? On the episode that came out on January 19, Kristin tells a story about a time when she dated a now ?very successful? actor who was, at the time, down on his luck. So, out of the goodness of her heart, she offered to lend him $5,000. As a thank you, the dude ghosted her. The story in Kristin?s own words:
Kristin Davis revealed that a ?very successful? actor once ghosted her after she lent him $5,000. In Sunday?s episode of her ?Are You a Charlotte?? podcast, the actress described the unnamed man as an ?out-of-work actor? whom she began dating before becoming a household name.
?I think this was before ?Sex and the City,? maybe between ?Melrose? and ?Sex and City? or maybe when I was on ?Melrose.? I don?t know,? she shared.
Davis, 59, said that while the actor is ?now very successful? and ?was very talented,? she spotted bill notices at his home from companies threatening to shut off his electricity at the time they were dating.
?And I was like, ?What?s happening?? And then, I think he wrecked his motorcycle, which is, like, how he got around to his auditions,? she recalled.
?And I was like, ?Can I lend you some money?? Horrible mistake.?
The Emmy nominee said lending the actor money ?changed the dynamic? between them in a ?horrible way.?
?But I just thought, like, I can help ? I should help this guy,? she continued. ?He?s so talented, which he is. Lend him money. I think it was all of $5,000 ? a lot of money.?
Davis said the man ?stopped calling? after her nice gesture, so she popped up at his apartment and started banging on his door.
?His dog was in there, and I loved his dog, and I could hear his dog, but I was like, ?Is he in there and pretending that he is not there?? she remembered.
The ?Couples Retreat? actress said the actor called her ?later on? and asked whether she had been banging on his door.
?And I was like, ?Well, yes.? ? I felt so embarrassed. Like, being messy,? she shared. ?I just would love some acknowledgment or whatever, which is kind of a fantasy.?
Though Davis never disclosed who the actor was, she said he now ?lives out in the country with some children.?

Well, damn. I wish I could say that I have surprised outrage over this story, but I have only indignation. I?m mad for Kristin on her behalf, not because the dude never paid her back but because he f-cking accepted her money and then ghosted her! I get having your pride wounded, but my dude, you didn?t have to disappear. Pay the woman back and give her a big ?thank you,? FFS.
I?ve been racking my brain but I?m still not sure who this mystery actor could be. Her timeline is vague, so it really could be anywhere between 1992 and 2004, which covers the time periods of both Melrose Place and SATC. Although her dating timeline has some holes, there are lists of them out there. There are also a lot of different guesses out there right now, but the Internet has not yet come to any solid conclusions. Her most famous actor exes are Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin, but my gut says it?s neither of them because they dont fit the description. So, bitches, my crowd-sourced question is: who could it be?

Like Carrie Underwood, Billy Ray Cyrus sang without accompaniment at inauguration festivities, thanks to technical difficulties. If only one a dozen tech billionaires had donated to the Trump inaugural committee fund. While Carrie threw a hissy fit over not being given the right platform (both literally and figuratively), the unraveling of Billy Ray?s performance was marked by some odd details. There was his electric guitar completely crapping out on him, which led to a seeming eternity ? filled with Billy Ray saying, ?Is my guitar still on? I think they cut me off. Is my guitar on, guys? Is anybody awake? Where?s everybody at? Is anybody back there? Can somebody turn my guitar back on?? ? before a crew member eventually emerged. So by the time Billy Ray started a raspy, monotone, a cappella version of ?Achy Breaky Heart,? the mood had well and truly dipped. The scene was so startling, that Trace Cyrus took to Instagram days later with a lengthy plea for his father to get some help:

Oof, I?d forgotten all the messiness that went down with Billy Ray?s whirlwind marriage to Firerose. And in addition to that, the Cyrus family has had some soap opera caliber ruptures going on, what with Tish Cyrus marrying Dominic Purcell, then it emerging that he hooked up with her 25-year-old daughter Noah first, and all the kids choosing sides on which parent?s wedding to attend. It?s definitely been a time, is what I?m saying. I don?t know much about Trace, but I take this Instagram post as sincere; a son legitimately concerned about his father, and feeling like he?s been cut off from private modes of communication. I hope this family finds a way to reconnect, and that Billy Ray lets in some health and peace (and better politics).
And lastly, not to be that girl (but I am 100% that girl), but I think Trace meant to say that he couldn?t care less if the post upset his father. Because the way he wrote it, if he could care less, then? ok I?ve made my point so I?ll stop now.

I?ve now been around for the original hysteria around then-Meghan Markle?s October 2017 Vanity Fair cover interview, the five-years-later reimagined hysteria about that 2017 cover, and now this, a seven-years-later rewrite on the whole episode. You might wonder? why the hell is the Daily Mail still obsessing over something that happened in 2017, when Meghan was a private citizen? You forget that these people are vile morons. I think we might even consider this another piece in what I refer to as ?The Mail Remembers? series, like ?remember when Meghan told off Harry?s bigoted friends?? and ?remember when the Middletons were insecure about Meghan??
So, to recap, throughout much of 2017, Meghan was living and working in Canada, on what would be her final season of Suits. Once she wrapped on that season, she packed up her Canadian home and moved to England in October/November. Harry had already established with his Kensington Palace team that Meghan was ?the one? and preparations were already underway. When Meghan appeared on the October cover of Vanity Fair, it was widely believed that the whole thing was palace approved. There was zero outrage from the palace at the time, and Meghan didn?t say anything in the interview which had to be cleaned up or clarified by the palace. The royal reporters said, at the time, that the whole thing was done with palace approval. In the years since, that VF cover has rarely been cited as one of Meghan?s many transgressions in the UK. Then in 2022, that rancid old coot Tom Bower tried to make ?the palace was mad about it and Meghan was hysterical? into a thing. No one believed him. But will you believe Richard Eden at the Daily Mail?
The allegations in the excoriating Vanity Fair article about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this week have been dismissed by the couple and described as ?distressing?, sources close to them have claimed.
I can disclose, however, that it was not this Vanity Fair article but a previous interview in the magazine that truly alarmed Buckingham Palace. Back in 2017, the then Meghan Markle was thrilled when she learned she would be on the cover of the respected US magazine. It was an ambition that she had long held, but one of which she could only dream while still a minor actress on the TV legal drama Suits.
The cover of Vanity Fair was reserved for genuine stars, so when she was approached by the magazine, after news broke of her romance with Prince Harry the previous October, Meghan couldnt contain her excitement.
Shes just wild about Harry! gushed the headline that September. Inside, the magazine declared: As Markle tells Vanity Fair about her bi-racial background, her romance, and her hit series, Suits, it seems that this 36-year-old American may be just the woman for Britains iconoclastic royal.
While Meghan was jubilant at the prospect of her double-whammy ? bagging a prince and a Vanity Fair cover ? royal officials were perturbed by the article when it was published.
It was like a punch to the solar plexus, a royal source told me this week. We do not expect friends of members of the Royal Family to give such interviews.
The source pointed out that Kate Middleton and Lady Diana Spencer, for example, waited until after their engagements had been announced before they gave an interview. And, in both cases, it was organised by Palace officials for the TV cameras under the strictest of conditions. Harry and Meghans engagement was not announced until two months after the Vanity Fair article was published.
While people were pleased that Harry had found a serious girlfriend, the article did set alarm bells ringing, the source told me. It made people worry that Miss Markle was seeking to use the relationship for publicity purposes.

This awards season has not panned out the way I was expecting back in November. No Oscar nominations for Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig, Denzel Washington, Challengers, Margaret Qualley and on and on. But I did get one thing I really wanted: Isabella Rossellini has scored her first-ever Oscar nomination at the age of 72. She was recognized for her work in Conclave, where she played a grumpy nun who revealed a vital piece of information to the cardinals at just the right moment. Rossellini?s screen time was limited, but I think people are so used to ?category fraud? that they forget that? this is actually what a ?supporting performance? looks like, this is what it?s supposed to be. They gave Judd Hirsch a supporting actor Oscar nomination for eight minutes of screen time in The Fabelmans! Rossellini?s Conclave nom is similar.
Throughout the awards season, Isabella has been soaking in the experience and bringing a lot of heart and levity to the party. She?s enjoying herself, and this must be such a treat, to get an Oscar nom at this stage of her life. Like most nominees, Isabella released a statement thanking everyone for helping her along the way, and reminding everyone of her incredible pedigree:
?When I was young, I was always identified as the daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini. As Ive gotten older, this doesn?t happen as frequently; and, I miss it, especially today. This is definitely one of the craziest rumors of the week. To be fair, the rumor started last year, but it?s gotten new life because of some recent wrinkles. Last year, In Touch Weekly published a story called ?The Truth About Jen & Barack.? According to In Touch, Jennifer Aniston and Barack Obama were having some kind of torrid affair? Then Aniston appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live last October, and Kimmel got her to debunk the story on-air. Aniston called In Touch a ?cheesy tabloid? so uncool! and stated that she was not mad about the report but ?that is absolutely untrue.? She also said that she?s only met Barack Obama once and ?I know Michelle more than him.?
Well, all of that happened before Michelle Obama skipped Jimmy Carter?s funeral and the inauguration, and Michelle?s husband attended both of those state events solo. This month, there?s been a lot of chatter about the state of the Obama marriage, and rumors are apparently flying around DC that a divorce might really happen. Then, this week, some rando on Twitter claimed that she heard something from one of Aniston?s friends that the Aniston-Obama ?affair? rumor is true.
The divorce rumors of a romantic relationship between actor Jennifer Aniston and former President, Barack Obama, took a wild turn on Thursday when a user on X claimed that a leaked message, allegedly from a friend of Aniston confirming her relationship with Obama, had gone viral. Despite Anistons representatives denying it, the rumours have continued to swirl alongside speculations of a divorce between Obama and his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama.
In the alleged message, the friend claims that Aniston admitted the relationship in a casual conversation with friends. ?He?s with Jennifer Aniston. My old manager, now a friend, is connected to her inner circle, the alleged message read. At a gathering with Jennifer?s friends, the affair came up casually?Jennifer herself admitted it. They were sitting with a psychic, which makes it sound surreal, but it?s definitely not a secret among her closest friends.?
Jennifer Aniston has addressed these allegations, firmly denying any romantic involvement with Barack Obama. She stated that she has only met him once and is more acquainted with Michelle Obama. Anistons representative also clarified that she does not maintain any personal friendship with Barack Obama, though she is a fan.

One of the things driving me crazy about the PR and statements from the Princess of Wales is that she clearly didn?t think any of this was anyone?s business originally. She went missing for months in 2024, took the fall for a manipulated frankenphoto and refused to give any kind of honest medical updates for several months. It was only after the ?missing princess? story turned into an international sh-tstorm that anyone thought ?hey, maybe we actually do need to provide proof of life on Kate.? I was thinking of this again as I read this new excerpt from People Magazine?s ?Kate in Remission? cover story. Now they?re saying that Kate?s journey was ?lonely? because? she had to sneak around for months while people wondered where she was?
Kate Middleton shared that she faced her cancer treatment quietly and privately during a visit to the London hospital where she received care, offering insight into the isolating experience.
Going through the back door unseen while going through the treatment must have been pretty lonely, a close royal insider tells PEOPLE in this weeks exclusive cover story. When you see these other people when they?re having their chemotherapy, they were doing it as a group, with a support mechanism.
The Princess of Wales, 43, contrasted her own experience while visiting The Royal Marsden Hospital in London on Jan. 14, which coincided with the confirmation that she previously received treatment there during her cancer journey.
Admitting the difference, Kate said, I had to do it privately and quietly, but being on a ward like this has to be reassuring in a way. She shared the sentiment while speaking with Katherine Field, who was in the midst of her fourth chemotherapy session for breast cancer during the princess?s visit. For Field, the camaraderie among patients sharing chemotherapy sessions has been a source of comfort. There is a real sense of community, she tells PEOPLE, drawing a contrast to Princess Kates private ordeal, but said speaking with Kate was just like talking to a friend.
For much of 2024, the Princess of Wales slipped through a secluded door at the Royal Marsden Hospital and attended regular chemotherapy sessions away from the public eye. It was a lonely path during the most challenging year of her life. One year after her abdominal surgery, Kate walked confidently through the Royal Marsdens front entrance for the first time. She returned not only as a woman in remission, but also as an advocate for those still in the midst of their fight.
Initially scheduled to be there for an hour, the princess extended her visit by 20 minutes as she met with patients and staff, offering hugs and sincere advice.

One, I guess everyone is in agreement that Kate?s husband, mother and/or sister never came to her chemo sessions to keep her company and provide moral support? Weird. Secondly, I understand someone?s desire for privacy or discretion when dealing with any medical issue, but it still feels notable that we can compare Kate?s situation side-by-side with what King Charles has done. While he?s never emphasized it, it?s no secret that his schedule changed significantly because he always had to be in London mid-week for his treatments. He might have entered the hospital through a side door or private entrance, but he regularly goes back and forth from the hospital in his Bentley, so photographers can see him out and about. I guess my point is that Kate made her cancer journey ?lonely? by her own choice. She made these choices to hide away, and now she?s using those choices for sympathy?

Before I saw Wicked, I was fully prepared to say ?this is not for me.? But then I watched it and? yeah, I enjoyed it. Was it the best thing ever? Eh, that?s an impossible standard, but it was fine-to-good. What really surprised me was how much I enjoyed both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Both women really worked their asses off and you could see it on screen. Well, now both women are Oscar-nominated for their performances, Cynthia as the lead actress category and Ariana in supporting. To celebrate her first Oscar nomination, Ari posted this on her social media:
