It?s interesting to watch the evolution of this storyline in real time. For months, we?ve been told repeatedly that the Princess of Wales would join her husband in Singapore for the Earthshot Awards in November. It was supposed to be Kate?s big outing of the year, especially given that she hasn?t left the country on official business since last year?s Earthshot Awards in Boston. Then, over the summer, the Mail had that curious story about how Prince William is ?increasingly happy to go solo,? seen by many of us as William soft-launching his ?divorced dad? brand. Even in that story, sources insisted that Kate would go to Singapore though. Except it?s not happening. Camilla Tominey was the first to report that Kate would not join her peggy husband at this year?s Keenshot. Now the Mail is seemingly confirming it:
The Princess of Wales will not travel to South East Asia in November for the final of The Earthshot Prize, according to reports.
Despite previous speculation suggesting the contrary, Kate Middleton, 41, is not expected to accompany William, 41, to Singapore, the destination of the third annual awards ceremony for the Princes environmental prize, says the Telegraph.
Following the Wales decision not to undertake a foreign tour this year, Kates presence is not to be expected, it is believed, and so she will not attend the ceremony which is also set to feature performances by world-renowned musicians and artists.
No specific reason has been confirmed for why Kate is not expected to attend, but some have speculated that it may be due to her parenting duties.
It marks a change from last year, when Kate travelled to Boston for the ceremony.

These are the same people who spent weeks writing hundreds of stories analyzing the travel plans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this month, yet all we?re getting here is some terse, minimal statements in two publications, the Mail and the Telegraph? William has been on a briefing spree in the past fortnight ?Prince William Wants To Be A Global Statesman? so this is coming from Kensington Palace. In the same breath as all of his talk about being a revolutionary keen statesman who never puts a foot wrong, he?s also like ?yeah, I don?t want the Wiglet in Singapore.? And no one will speculate in the British media, no one will say ?hey, maybe there are significant issues in the Wales marriage.?
One positive for Kates absence is that at least Williams ass will be ungroped in Singapore.

I cannot even imagine being this embarrassing, this desperate and this obvious. As soon as we got a good look at the Duchess of Sussex?s spectacular Invictus style, we knew that the Princess of Wales had added each one of Meghan?s looks to a certain Meghan mood-board and copykeening lookbook. It literally only took Kate a matter of days before she furiously copykeened Meghan?s beige-heavy color palette and her trouser-heavy wardrobe. Can this woman get her own life and her own style? She?s 41 years old and she?s doing this. These pics are from today, Kate visited Streets of Growth in London. Her suit is from Roland Mouret.
Kate Middleton is checking in on a youth support charity inspired by an American organization that she and Prince William visited in Boston last year. The Princess of Wales, 41, headed to east London on Tuesday to visit Streets of Growth, a charity that works to transform the lives of young people.
The group ? which strives to re-engage people aged 15 to 25 who find themselves socially isolated, bullied or trapped in a cycle of exploitation, violence and criminality ? was inspired by a visit to Roca in Boston, which Kate and William, both 41, visited in December last year.
There was some symmetry to Tuesday morning?s visit, which came as Prince William was stateside promoting his Earthshot Prize in New York City. It marked his first time returning to the U.S. since William and Kate visited London for the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in December.

While Katy Perry?s music is rarely my favorite, I acknowledge that the woman has some huge hits. Her catalog is extensive and well-known. She performed at the Super Bowl Half-Time show and she had to leave out several of her hits because there were just too many. I?m sure her masters are worth a fortune. So why does it sound like she sold them for much too small a figure? Katy is the latest in a long line of musical artists to sell their masters and catalog to a private-equity firm. The price? $225 million. As I said, it sounds way too low.
Litmus Music, a catalog rights company backed by private-equity giant Carlyle Group LP, said on Monday (Sept. 18) it acquired the rights to Katy Perry?s five studio albums released for Capitol Records, including her Grammy-nominated Teenage Dream.
According to sources, Litmus paid $225 million for Perry?s stake in the master recording royalties and music publishing rights to her five albums released between 2008 and 2020 ? One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, PRISM, Witness and Smile. Litmus declined to comment on the deal terms.
Perry?s catalog sale, finalized earlier this year, follows other 2023 music rights deals like Justin Bieber?s $200-million sale to Hipgnosis Songs Capital, demonstrating that household name artists can still command top dollar even as high interest rates moderate investors? appetites for song rights.
From her breakout single ?I Kissed A Girl? in July 2008 to the five chart-topping songs from 2010?s Teenage Dream, Perry has notched a total of nine No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100. During a musical era that saw major hits from other female pop stars like Lady Gaga, Beyonc, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Adele, Perry remains the first woman and only second artist ever (after Michael Jackson) to send five songs from the same album to the summit of the Hot 100. Those songs are ?California Gurls,? ?Firework,? ?E.T.,? ?Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)? and ?Teenage Dream.?

Billboard also mentioned her Vegas residency, which was pretty lucrative for her $168 million for about four months. Plus, she?s done so many huge tours over the years, although she hasn?t toured since 2018 and now she?s a mom. Oh, and she?s getting $25 million a year for American Idol? My point is that Katy isn?t poor, far from it. We?ve never heard stories about Katy drowning in debt or spending crazy money. She just sold her catalog for no real reason, I guess because they made her an offer. Did her manager not tell her that the bid sounds pretty low?
Maybe Katy decided to pack up her career after the mess at the coronation? I still can?t get over the absolute desperation of Charles and Camilla.

On Friday Drew Barrymore posted a teary video to Instagram (below) where she continued to defend her decision to bring back her talk show amid the ongoing writer and actor strikes. She tread a lot of familiar ground, including that it was bigger than her, if she could make a show work during the pandemic then why not now, and that she owned her decision. The video was taken down not long after posting, but was saved for posterity?s sake by others on the interwebs. Well, by the time I was finishing jotting down my notes to cover her video, Drew had capitulated and announced that her show would not return until the strikes were over. Maybe it was being put in the same conversation as Bill Maher, maybe fellow Charlie?s Angels gave her an ass whooping, maybe ET phoned Earth to scold her. Whatever the final straw was for Drew, it?s having a ripple effect across daytime talk shows:
?I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show?s premiere until the strike is over,? she wrote on Instagram. ?I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today. We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.?
?We support Drew?s decision to pause the show?s return and understand how complex and difficult this process has been for her,? a spokesperson for CBS Media Ventures told Variety in a statement.
?The Drew Barrymore Show? will air repeats for the foreseeable future, a knowledgeable individual told Variety. Episodes that were taped last week when the show went back into production will not air.
The WGA has canceled planned pickets of ?The Drew Barrymore Show.? Striking guild members will be picketing ?The View,? which is a WGA-covered struck show, on Monday.
Barrymore faced swift blowback for her decision to resume taping her talk show despite Hollywood?s ongoing labor strikes. Variety reported on Saturday that part of Barrymore?s choice to bring back the show stemmed from contractual obligations with station partners across the daytime TV business. As part of the fallout, National Book awards rescinded Barrymore?s invitation to host its upcoming annual award ceremony.
As long as hosts or guests don?t discuss or promote struck work, Barrymore wouldn?t have been violating SAG-AFTRA rules. (The Network Code agreement allows daytime hosts to perform hosting duties.) But Barrymore?s show operates with union writers, so new episodes would have required moving forward without their writers on staff.
At the time, the WGA condemned Barrymore?s decision in a statement, saying, ?Drew Barrymore should not be on the air while her writers are on strike fighting for a fair deal. In reality, shows like this cannot operate without writing, and that is struck work.? The Guild has not responded to request for comment about Barrymore?s reversal in programming.
Following Barrymore?s pause, CBS? ?The Talk? and ?The Jennifer Hudson Show? also announced they would no longer return on Monday as planned. Other daytime talk shows that have returned this season include ?The View,? which has been airing without its writers, as well as ?Live With Kelly and Mark? and ?Tamron Hall Show,? neither of which have writers and are not covered by the WGA.
Barrymore apologized in a now-deleted video, in which she says she owned the choice to bring back her show. ?I certainly couldn?t have expected this kind of attention,? she said. ?I wanted to do this because as I said, this is bigger than me, and there are other people?s jobs on the line.?

?I certainly couldn?t have expected this kind of attention.? Really?!? Shouldn?t there be at least three people on her payroll whose job it is to expect something like this? In the four-minute video where Drew said this, she also claimed that she does not have a PR machine behind her. I find that very hard to swallow, but whoever is on PR for Drew and the show has really messed up. Like Ive said before, it?s incredible to see how Drew and her people have, in the span of a week, squandered all the positive public image she had earned with her show.
On the plus side, at least now we have a trifecta of CBS talk shows on hiatus. Why is that a boon? Because CBS is part of Paramount. In addition to CBS, Paramount is also parent to BET, Comedy Central, CW, MTV, Nickelodeon, Showtime, and VH1. That?s nine studios right there that are in bed together, and one of them has an increased incentive for their AMPTP representation to find a resolution with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. And that is how striking works.

Hugh and Deborra are separating after 27 years of marriage. They were both actors when they met in Australia in 1995, but as his career reached all kinds of crazy heights, Deborra phased out her acting career and raised their two children, Oscar and Ava. Predictably you can really set your watch to this Hugh and Deborra are separating soon after their youngest turned 18 years old.
Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee are amicably ending their marriage. As I said, they seemed like they were in it through thick and thin, come what may. They seemed like best friends, like they enjoyed each other?s company and they understood each other. But! Sources told Page Six that their split had been ?a long time coming? and that ?It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it.? For what its worth, they went to the Met Gala together this year, so I dont know about that. This might have been a slow-burn pandemic split too, because there?s some indication that they really started having problems in 2020-21, and Deborra was barely around when Hugh went back on Broadway for The Music Man in 2022. Plus, you know, so many couples are just limping along for those last few years before their kids leave for college. I feel for Ava!

Drew Barrymore has always been into renovating and interior design, but in recent years, her interest/hobby has become a bigger deal. She renovated a New York apartment on the Upper East Side and she showed a lot of the process on her social media and (I think?) on her talk show as well. Her apartment is finally done a three-bedroom, three-bath home which she shares with her two daughters, two cats, two dogs and a bearded dragon. Drew showed off some of her apartment in Better Homes & Gardens, and she?s also shilling for her Walmart home line, Beautiful by Drew Barrymore go here to see the full piece. Her interview with the magazine is pretty great too. Some highlights:
She hates recessed lights: ?Recessed overhead lighting is not warm and it doesn?t make anyone look pretty. I feel like it gives me dark circles under my eyes and makes me feel like someone is tapping on my head.? Instead, she embraces sconces, hanging pendant lights, and flush mount fixtures that give off a diffused glow rather than a harsh, downward beam. ?Lighting to me is a beautiful decorative art and you can find tons of cool stuff on salvage sites and in salvage stores. And if you go thrifting and flea marketing, which I love to do, you?ll almost always find amazing deals on lighting that will add personality to your space.?
No sharp edges: ?Ever since I had children, I can?t bear to see a sharp edge in my space. I look at it and think, that corner could take out somebody?s eyeball!. Even my kitchen island has a soft edge. The minute I walked into that room for the first time I said, we need to sand that right down!?
No blackout curtains: ?I hate blackout curtains. They make me feel claustrophobic and scared. I get really freaked out if I wake up in a hotel room in the morning and it is pitch black. If curtains are blackout, I always open them before I go to sleep?I?m up with the sun anyway?and at home I love nothing more than a sheer curtain in a pretty Indian blockprint.?
Stop doing everything open-concept: ?I like the idea of what I call ?closed-concept? living. I want to start a movement. I don?t want anything to do with an open kitchen where everyone can see my dirty dishes during a dinner party! And I like the idea that you can have different design stories for different rooms. The pandemic really taught us that everyone in a house needs their own space?preferably with a door. And I?d rather have a bunch of tiny rooms than one big one.?
Screen time: ?We watch a ton of movies and shows so I?m not judging anyone about screens. But when it comes to my kids, I?m not a huge fan of personal electronics, like iPads. During the pandemic when schools were virtual we were forced into all being on our separate devices and I didn?t like it. Now, I keep the iPads in a locked safe and they only come out for special occasions. I?d rather that the three of us all pile into my bed and watch together.?

I disagree with her about blackout curtains, but I?m also up with the sun (or earlier). Still, I love making my bedroom into a dark cave. Not every room needs to be sunny and bright. I?m with her on closed-concept though some of those open-concept designs are lovely, but I would love for more people to understand that doors are not the enemy and it?s healthy to have dedicated spaces that are not for guests to see.

As I?m writing this on Thursday, Prince William and Kate haven?t trotted out today to make asses out of themselves in a desperate bid to pull focus from the Invictus Games. William and Kate flew separately to France over the weekend, then Kate wore a tragique doll wig to prison on Tuesday, then William raged about suicide on Wednesday. Did? did they not plan something for today? I was really looking forward to seeing their pathetic shenanigans every single day of the Invictus Games. Looks like they?re too lazy to even pull desperate shenanigans. (Update: OMG, they really are doing something today! Theyre taking their sweet time getting there though, so we wont have photos today.) Anyway, what IS Kate up to? Kate Middleton is quietly carrying on with her royal duties this week as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated the Invictus Games with veterans in Germany. According to the Court Circular, The Princess of Wales, 41, held an Early Years meeting at Windsor Castle yesterday.
The royals work through her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood to promote the importance of the first five years of a childs life has been accelerated over the past year.
It comes as her brother-in-law the Duke of Sussex and his wife the Duchess continued their week long trip to Dusseldorf for the Invictus Games. It has been claimed veterans have become frustrated that the Invictus Games are not getting the attention from senior royals which other sporting events enjoy with Buckingham Palace looking petty and mean-spirited by not paying it enough attention.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were integral in the early stages of the Invictus Games.
The Royal Foundation, which was shared by Prince Harry at the time invested significant amounts of money in the event. There is now a sense of frustration among some British athletes that their endeavours are not recognised by public figures including senior royals who are quick to send good wishes to competitors in other international events, The Telegraph reports.
Critics argue the royal familys ill-will towards Harry should not be held against the disabled veterans who are competing.

There?s a real strain here, a strain in the invisible contract, a reach to give William and Kate ?credit? for Invictus, and yet a small sliver of criticism towards the Windsors too. The Mail knows that William and Kate had nothing to do with Invictus. Everyone knows that. Everyone knows that William and Kate are too insecure, too jealous, too pathetic to actually send their best wishes to British veterans as well. But mostly, the Mail wants more content and they?re not being placated with a line in the Court Circular about Kate?s ?private meeting.?

Just days after Danny Masterson was convicted of two counts of rape, People Magazine had a curious exclusive about Masterson?s wife, Bijou Phillips. Sources close to Bijou said that she was devastated over his conviction but she had no plans to leave him. Crash cut to this month Masterson was just sentenced to thirty years in prison for drugging and raping women. Bijou was in the courtroom for the verdict and for his sentencing hearing. Reportedly, Masterson showed little emotion (because he?s a psycho) but Bijou was sobbing during his sentencing. So, months later, is she hiring a divorce lawyer? Nope.
Bijou Phillips is ?distraught? after her husband Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison in his rape case last week, a source tells PEOPLE.
?She has had a very difficult time since the conviction,? the insider says. ?She loves Danny and has no plans to file for divorce. She will be by his side for it all.?
The source shares that Phillips, 43, is ?surrounded by family and friends? amid her husband?s legal troubles, adding, ?She is in touch with his lawyer. They are planning appeals. She tries to stay hopeful.?
Masterson?s defense attorney Shawn Holley did not immediately return to PEOPLE?s request for comment.
Phillips was in the courtroom ? alongside members of Masterson?s family ? for the sentencing on Thursday, according to Variety. The actor was seen blowing a kiss to his wife before being led away to prison in a court sketch. During the sentencing, two women he was convicted of raping gave victim impact statements and the Judge Charlaine Olmedo told Masterson, Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here. Your actions 20 years ago took away another person?s voice and choice. Your actions 20 years ago were criminal, and that is why you are here, according to the outlet.

Even if she waivered and considered divorcing Masterson and starting over as a divorcee, CoS probably wouldn?t let her. Their support is conditional, and the condition is that she stick with Masterson through a thirty-year prison sentence. As Leah Remini pointed out in her statement following Masterson?s sentencing, a few of Masterson?s victims were Scientologists too, yet CoS protected the rapist and not the victim. CoS threatened and harassed Masterson?s victims, what do you think they?d to Masterson?s wife if she ever tried to escape the marriage or this situation?

To recap: on Sunday she announced via Instagram that she was owning her choice to bring back her talk show mid-strikes because it?s bigger than just her but don?t worry they won?t discuss or promote other struck work. The post was also laced with words about how the show launched during the pandemic, she wants to make sense of the human experience, and she will bring us together with astute humility. By Monday the WGA clapped back saying the show returning now was a violation of strike rules, and they dispatched members to picket outside CBS in New York where the show was taping. Also amid this Monday maelstrom, two people who won tickets to the show?s taping were kicked out for wearing WGA pins (that are only 1-2 inches long). Now in another hit, on Tuesday night the National Book Foundation disinvited Drew from serving as host at their awards ceremony in November. The National Book Foundation is not on strike now. This is what?s called solidarity, Drew.

In a statement to social media, the National Book Foundation wrote ?The National Book Awards is an evening dedicated to celebrating the power of literature, and the incomparable contributions of writers to our culture. In light of the announcement that ?The Drew Barrymore Show? will resume production, the National Book Foundation has rescinded Ms. Barrymore?s invitation to host the 74th National Book Awards Ceremony.?
The foundation added, ?Our commitment is to ensure that the focus of the Awards remains on celebrating writers and books, and we are grateful to Ms. Barrymore and her team for their understanding in this situation.?
Barrymore was initially announced as host of the Nov. 15 event in late July. Now, just days after some protested her decision to bring back her talk show on Sept. 18, the foundation has revoked its decision, with no replacement host announced.
While picketers expressed anger toward Barrymore, SAG-AFTRA issued a statement ensuring that the talk show?s return did not constitute scabbing: ??The Drew Barrymore Show? is produced under the Network Television Code which is a separate contract and is not struck. It is permissible work and Drew?s role as host does not violate the current strike rules.?

It kills me every time someone from the show?s camp trots out those talking points about how they?re not violating strike rules? for SAG-AFTRA. Do they really think that ploy is working? (It?s not.) It?s like a parent asking to see your report card and responding with ?but I didn?t cut gym today!? They?re totally separate issues! Gold star for not scabbing the actors (technically speaking, symbolically is another question). The rest of us are talking about the writers.
It?s hard to believe it was only three months ago that Drew was riding the high of that great New York Mag profile. I just re-read the article and cringed when she comments on the network having just renewed her show for its fourth season, yet it was the first time they did so enthusiastically instead of begrudgingly. I wonder if subconsciously she freaked out over things going too well and threw in some self-destruction to counter balance. Like they say, when life gives you lemonade, make lemons!
