| Katy Perry in Gaultier at the VF Oscar party: fantastic or blah? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from Sunday night?s Vanity Fair Oscar party. Tons of people came out for the VF party, so we?re going to devote many posts to Oscar-party fashion posts. Here?s Katy Perry in Jean Paul Gaultier, which I surprisingly do not hate. Usually I find Gaultier rather overworked and silly, but this looks great on her. I?m still not liking the blonde on her though. She shouldn?t necessarily go back to black, but this shade of blonde isn?t working. Also: Orlando Bloom attended this party too, but they didn?t pose together on the carpet.
Sofia Vergara in Michael Kors. This gown has been around for a while – Piper Perabo wore a version of this as her wedding gown, and Jennifer Lopez and Naomi Campbell have worn this dress too. That being said, I like this on Sofia. She?s usually busting out of some mermaid dress, so it?s nice to see her in something different. Her date was her husband Joe Manganiello.
Jon Hamm was there! He looks good.
Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch attended the party. Jerry looks pretty happy. While I?m sure Murdoch is an evil bastard in business and in general, he seems to adore Jerry.
Alessandra Ambrosio in Ralph & Russo. Ugh, she?s so try-hard.

| Nicole Kidman apparently claps like a madwoman, or the Grinch | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I find it odd sometimes to see what catches fire on social media. This is a prime example! I thought everything about Nicole Kidman was rather blah at the Oscars, from her nothingburger Armani gown to her fried hair to her overly groomed husband. But Nicole did something at the Oscars which ended up becoming a major thing. She clapped. She clapped like a crazy person. During one of the standing ovations – I think the early one for Meryl Streep? – the camera cut to Nicole clapping like a madwoman.
Why does Nicole Kidman clap like The Grinch?! pic.twitter.com/dhzN7Og8xC

| Thandie Newton in Schiaparelli at the VF Oscar party: slaying it or fug? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Thandie Newton takes a lot of fashion risks and she can look goofy sometimes, but sometimes her risks pay off. She wore a silver Schiaparelli gown with a swirling sequin pattern, multi-color shoulder pads, a deep v-neck, and short skirt with a sheer overlay. I don’t even care that she’s hunched over and pissed off looking, I love it. Her eye makeup is weird, the styling could be improved, but this is mod, weird and lovely and I can’t look away. Good show from Thandie. I am still mad that we have to wait another year for Westworld to come back. I don’t know when I’ll get over that.
Here’s Allison Williams in Miu Miu. This is a perfectly acceptable after party dress and her styling is ok too. She looks rather tiny to me, but that could be the off-the-shoulder design of the gown.
Michelle Monaghan in a kicky Brandon Maxwell with a side cutout, wearing an ACLU ribbon. It was nice to see so many of those on Oscar night. She’s a new favorite of mine after seeing her work on The Path on Hulu.
Demi Lovato in a frou frou Monique Lhuillier gown that’s more suited for the Oscars, to which she didn’t get invited. Too bad she doesn’t have nepotism going for her, since she does have musical talent. Maybe she’ll have a song that’s nominated in a year or two. It can still happen for her.
Teresa Palmer in Vivienne Westwood. She had on a Prada dress at the ceremony with shelf boobs and this gown has a similar problem in that area. I don’t think Westwood’s designs work with heavy sequins, those bodices require lighter fabric that’s draped and folded.

| Halle Berry in Versace at the VF Oscar party: super-fun or just silly? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yes, as I said yesterday, I?m very into Halle Berry?s Oscar hair. Maybe it?s a wig, maybe she just spent hours getting her hair to look like this, whatever it is, I don?t care. I love it. I love that she went big and crazy and I love the way it looks around her face. It?s amazing. Halle had the same hair at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, only she switched up her Versace dresses. I loved her Oscar Versace and I really like this fun little cocktail Versace. She?s really killing it these days.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also wore Versace, and she walked the VF carpet with her man, Jason Statham, and a prominent baby bump. Rosie is glowing. So pretty!
Kate Hudson in Cavalli Couture. She?s done something different to her face, right? I?m not just imagining that? Anyway, I don?t have strong feelings about this Cavalli – it was beige/neutral and that was the trend this year. The design sucks though. It looks like she?s wearing an apron made out of pantyhose.
Scarlett Johansson wore another Azzedine Alaa dress for the VF party – this, to me, feels like her ?ScarJo: After Dark? look. I don?t like it.
Dakota Johnson in Gucci. Yet another example of someone saving the better dress for the after-parties. Dakota had no business in that sad Oscar dress – she should have worn this to the Oscars instead.

| Jessica Biel in Ralph Lauren at the VF Oscar party: tedious or fine? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake weren?t content to ruin the Oscars (YEAH I SAID IT). They also had to ruin the after-parties too! And maybe – ? – Justin made Jessica change out of her hideous Oscar dress into this equally fug Ralph Lauren look for the Vanity Fair party. What is it with Jessica and gold? It?s theme dressing, I fear. Anyway, the whole sheet-cape effect is something that Cate Blanchett could absolutely pull off. On Biel, this look falls flat (and I?m not just talking about what the dress is doing to her bust).
Reese Witherspoon in Michael Kors. I really like this – it?s a cute cocktail dress and she looks nice. Sometimes it?s not that complicated, you know? Find a cute dress and pair it with some simple styling. Bam, you?re done.
Kerry Washington in Michael Kors. I?m having a love/hate relationship with this. Do I think it?s sexy or do I think it?s tacky? I honestly can?t decide. The bronze shade ends up looking flesh-toned on Kerry, but I also think that?s kind of hot. Beyond my confusion about the dress, she looks beautiful. Great hair & makeup.
Amanda Peet in Michael Kors. Well, it?s a lot better than what she usually wears?

Felicity Jones switched into this heavy Erdem look. I think this is better than the milquetoast Dior she wore to the Oscars, but that?s not saying much. This seems way too much for an Oscar party, honestly.

| Mariah Carey in Phillip Plein at the VF Oscar Party: too tight or glam? | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Photographers on the red carpet for the Vanity Fair Oscar party got to see a bit more of Mariah Carey then they may have expected, as the 46-year-old singer experienced a small ?wardrobe malfunction? on her way into the party. Mariah, whose spring tour with Lionel Richie was just postponed due to Lionel requiring knee surgery, stuffed herself into a jungle print gown by designer Phillip Plein. The green-hued gown, with its plunging neckline, front slit and bust-crushing bodice, showed off a lot of skin. This dress just looks painful and tacky, but not many people use the words ?elegant and refined? when it comes to Mariah Carey. I do like the hair and makeup, and her gold necklace is nice, but, overall I?m not a fan. Those black Louboutin sandals, although nice, aren?t helping. They don?t match, right? Mariah sported one of her trademark butterfly rings, but one notable accessory that was left at home was boyfriend/dancer Bryan Tanaka. Mariah met up with him later in the night.

Supermodel Miranda Kerr was the belle of the ball in a light blue ball gown with sparkly floral embellishments by Miu Miu. The plunging back of her dress was accentuated with pearl straps. Miranda wore small diamond earrings and a few thin diamond bracelets by Niwaka along with her engagement ring, lending to the subdued grace of her overall look. She looked radiant with natural makeup highlighted by a bright red lip and wore her dark hair pulled back into a sleek bun. Miranda?s fianc, Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, wasn?t at the party, but her ex-husband Orlando Bloom was there with girlfriend Katy Perry. If we were playing a game of ?Who wore their after party fashion best?? between Orlando?s current and former flames, Miranda would win, hands-down. She is a class act and I adore that dress. I wish I could go to prom again so I could wear a gown like that.
Speaking of models, Sports Illustrated model Emily Ratajkowski also turned heads on the red carpet in a beaded gown by Jonathan Simkhai. Emily continued the cleavage trend with her gown?s deep-V neckline. The figure-hugging gown also featured a gorgeous feathered train and minimal jewelry. Between Miranda?s dress and this one, I am suffering from some serious #gownenvy. The 25-year-old beauty brought attention to her eyes with a smoky look, highlighted with some blue shadow on her inner eyes that definitely made them pop. Her hair was the perfect topper for this look. I love her slightly messy, effortless-looking bun. Brava, Emily.
Gabrielle Union, currently starring on Being Mary Jane (which is filmed in my hometown of Atlanta, and once employed me as an extra), also left little to the imagination in a black and blue gown by the always edgy Jean Paul Gaultier. The 44-year-old actress accessorized her barely-there dress (described more than once as “a bikini meets an evening gown”) with Hearts on Fire diamond earrings, a Le Vian diamond bracelet, sapphire and diamond ring, DVANI diamond and ruby rings, and a Harry Kotlar yellow diamond ring. Her makeup was flawless and I can?t even begin to express how much I love her haircut. The bob really works for her. I do love that combination of black and cobalt blue but the jury?s out on the dress overall. It does stand out, but (not to sound like your Nana), I think it shows a little too much skin. But hey, I guess it?s a fun dress and Gabrielle sure looked like she had fun, posing for a candid photo with Olivia Munn and Jessica Alba.
And now my favorite post Oscar photo ever, courtesy of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star (and my new imaginary best friend), Rachel Bloom. This girl isn?t on RuPaul?s ?Tic Tac Diet?, and I love her for it. Rocking a lovely black sequined gown, Rachel unashamedly tears into a hamburger at the party, posting the carnage on Twitter with the caption, ?Really, thanks to @VanityFair for having burgers at this party. Better than any award.? I love this woman.
