| Florence Pugh wore Valentino at the Met Gala: fug or striking? | Added 424 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Florence Pugh had a shaved head at last nights Met Gala and wore a Valentino white gown featuring a poorly designed bodice with a dippy chiffon bow across the bust. She topped it off with a giant black feather crown. How does Valentino get it so wrong for Florence so often? Their fashion typically baffles me but they have great shoes and purses, Ill give them that. Florence represents Valentino and she was there with designer Pierpaolo Piccioli.
The train was really cool though.

No joke, one of my favorite things about this year?s Met Gala theme was seeing how other designers interpreted Karl Lagerfeld?s work and aesthetic. Certain designers phoned it in, others killed it. Sabato De Sarno is the new creative director of Gucci (appointed late last year) and he dressed a lot of people at this year?s gala, and the looks were so interesting! The best of the Gucci girls, in my opinion, was Jessica Chastain. No one knows if she wore a blond wig or if she really blonded her famous red hair, but the color is perfect. She also wore sunglasses (like Lagerfeld) and her makeup was so good. The effect was perfect.
Julia Garner recently scored a Gucci ambassadorship. I loved the velvet cape, perfectly structured in the shoulders, with the Pink on the other side. The satin dress is a perfect homage to Lagerfeld too.
Here?s Julia posting with Halle Bailey and Daily Edgar-Jones, all in Gucci. Daisy?s dress surprised me!
Salma Hayek in Gucci I love the lace, ruffles, tulle and pearl combo. A great interpretation.

| Rihanna wore Valentino & arrived very fashionably late to the 2023 Met Gala | Added 425 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky arrived last and not-so-fashionably late to this year?s Met Gala, more than 20 minutes after most of the gala livestreams and white-carpet shows ended. When Rihanna does attend the gala, she usually is the last one on the carpet, so she?s just keeping it real.
Rihanna, who is expecting her second child (much like Serena Williams!), wore a customized look by Valentino. It was based on a Valentino-pink gown shown on a Valentino runway Rihanna got it done in white, with a ?hooded? coat made to look like oversized flower blooms. I?m already seeing people criticizing this as ?she looks like cake icing,? but I think it?s such a cool look and she really thought about the theme and how best to interpret it. The fingerless gloves! The sunglasses, the sweeping bridal energy? this is very Lagerfeld. Rocky is in Gucci. He didn?t look great. But whatever, this isn?t about him.
While it wasn?t that bad on the livestream or on TV, in photos, the color of actual gala carpet was SO BAD. I?m mad at the off-white carpet specifically because so many women wore white, and they?re just blending in with the carpet. Think of how Rihanna?s dress would have looked even more dazzling on a dark blue or blood red carpet.

| Katherine Heigl on her body image: 'I can't believe how mean I was to myself' | Added 425 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Yahoo Life has a series called It Figures, in which influential figures discuss body image. Katherine Heigl is in Firefly Lane on Netflix and the second half of its final season premiered a few days ago. Katherine spoke to Yahoo for its series and talked about her past body image and how its evolved to present day. She talks about how negatively she looked at herself earlier in her career and says something many people will find familiar: that when she looks back at that time now she cant believe how she perceived herself compared to how she actually looked. And she talks about her view of her body in present day and her approach toward her body and aging.
Katherine Heigl made her film debut decades ago, kickstarting a massively successful career on-screen ? most notably as the it girl for rom-coms of the early 2000s. Looking back, one of her biggest regrets is how she treated her body.
I cant believe how mean I was to myself. It almost makes me want to cry because it breaks my heart, the Firefly Lane actress tells Yahoo Life. I was so f***ing mean. And I said the most awful things to myself and I was so hard on my body.
The 44-year-old recalls that she hated the way she looked at the time and would often compare herself to those around her. I always felt I was like, so much bigger and heavier than everybody else, she says.
[The negative self-talk is] something that Heigl is cognizant of as her figure evolves. However, getting older has presented new challenges to her experience with body acceptance.
February or so [in 2021], I started inexplicably gaining weight, like a lot of weight, like I think I put on 20 pounds. And I couldnt figure it out. Everything I had always done in the past wasnt working, she says, noting that she returned to old habits. I restricted, I restricted, I restricted, I started working out more, working out more, working out more, giving up everything that I like and literally not losing a pound. Nothing budged.
She went on to say that she was intermittent fasting, which she likens to starving yourself for 16 hours a day. When she brought her concerns to doctors, Heigl felt dismissed.
I started going to doctors and a lot of just like regular general practitioners, ob-gyns [told me], Oh, you know, just exercise more and restrict calories. And Id go, I am doing those things. Im down to 1,200 calories a day. Any lower and Im gonna pass out. And theyd be like, Oh, well, you know, this is just kind of part of getting older. And I was like, Really?'
Heigl explains that shes learned to ask herself questions about how shes feeling in her body in an attempt to remain grounded and focused on her health, rather than her appearance.
Katie, if you werent in front of camera, would you care? Would you care about your weight?' she asks. The answer was yes, I would care. Because I dont feel well. And Im tired and I have no energy and Im moody as hell. My body doesnt feel like my own.
Most importantly, she wanted to be given the opportunity to address the weight gain in a healthy way, she says. It can be done holistically, it can be done mindfully, you know. But this idea like, either live with it or stop eating just really pissed me off.
As shes found the means to approach her body in a more mindful way, shes attempted to apply the same mindset to other areas of her life. The difficult part is coming to terms with how she wants to see herself age versus what others might expect of her.
Im not against anybody doing whatever they feel they need to to feel their best, to wake up in the morning and have self-confidence and feel whatever best that is for them. Its so individual and so personal, she explains. I want people to understand I am in the public eye. I made a choice to be. I feel it is part of my job to look my very best, within reason. But if I werent in the public eye, I still think I would want to look and feel my best for my age, within reason.
And she wants to be as transparent as she can be as a person in the spotlight going through it.
I get a little tired of the idea that like actresses just have genetically superior DNA. Maybe some do, I dont know. But I know I have made choices to maintain, as one will. I also have made choices not to go too far because its not been worth it to me, she says. I dont want to change my face, and Im not interested in looking 25 anymore. That was a nice time, it has passed.
[From Yahoo Life]
Katherine specifically references re-watching The Ugly Truth, as the project where she was shocked at how great she looked then compared to what she thought at the time. But I just kept thinking of that scene in Knocked Up when she gets the promotion and they tell her to lose weight in a roundabout way because they cant legally tell her to do so. I also remember a time when she was lauded for being a more healthy weight compared to some of her medical drama costars, but even if people thought they were being positive, it probably felt different to her. I thought it was interesting that she talked about her recent 20-pound weight gain and being dismissed by doctors, but never really talked about whether she found a solution or just learned to accept it. I think her pivoting to talking about people doing what they need to feel their best indicates the former. I do like that she hit back against the idea that actresses just have genetically superior DNA. So many promote that idea and its infuriating.

| Emma Thompson: 'Romantic love is a myth and quite dangerous' | Added 428 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Emma Thompson did some Oscar-campaigning in recent months for her indie film, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. She ended up getting nominated for a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and a bunch of critics awards for her performance, but she didn?t get the Oscar nomination. And I think she?s fine with it for years now, she?s been anti-Hollywood and anti-awards season, or perhaps she?s just very, very British. In any case, Emma spoke to the Radio Times podcast about the Oscars and about whether she believes in ?romantic love.? Some highlights:
Romantic love is a myth: ?Its philosophically helpful and uplifting to remember that romantic love is a myth and quite dangerous. We really do have to take it with a massive pinch of salt. To think sensibly about love and the way it can grow is essential. Long-term relationships are hugely difficult and complicated. If anyone thinks that happy ever after has a place in our lives, forget it.?
She felt ill every time she?s gone to the Oscars: ?Both times I had to do the Oscars I got ill, quite seriously ill, before and during it. I just found the pressure of it and glare of it too much ? It?s sort of astonishing ? and then you think you want to lie down in a dark room. You think, ?Please don?t ask me any questions or make me talk about myself.? It?s horrible. I quite quickly developed a sort of allergy to that, but it?s sort of part of the job.?
On fame: ?Fame doesn?t happen overnight, it?s gradual. I?m lucky from that point of view; I think it must be awful if you have to deal with being James Bond, or one of those people who really can?t go anywhere. To lose your anonymity completely ? it?s not very pleasant for you or the people around you. If that?s what you want, to be recognised, then I suppose you can deal with it, and it?s not so intrusive. But it?s not what I wanted, and I think it?s a highly toxic condition.?
[From The Daily Mail and The Guardian]
I don?t think romantic love is a ?myth,? but I agree that you need more than romantic love or sexual chemistry to make a marriage or partnership work long-term. That?s basically what she?s saying you need to do the work and you can?t expect ?romantic love? to be enough to sustain a relationship. But romantic love isn?t a myth! As for the stuff about the Oscars? I?ve never really understood why so many British actors are so anti-Oscars or anti-Hollywood in general. They pride themselves on ?keeping it real? and being authentic? and then they cozy up to the Windsors. Emma does that. She?s anti-Hollywood-fakery and then she cozies up to King Charles and the rest of them.

| Priyanka Chopra: women have to work quite a lot harder to prove themselves | Added 428 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden are starring in a new Prime Video series about spies called Citadel. Priyankas been serving looks at the press events and Richard is forever my guy because hes just so cute. They seem to play well off each other and theyre both believable in action roles. I plan to watch this for the beauty and stay for the action. Anyway, Priyanka attended SXSW Film Festival and revealed that this series was the first time in her career when she was paid equally with her male costar. She talked about how that came to be and how women have to work harder to prove themselves.
The new Prime Video spy series Citadel offered plenty of firsts for co-stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden.
And as the accomplished Bollywood and Quantico actress revealed at the SXSW Film Festival in March, it also marked the first time in her career where she was paid equally with her male co-star.
The India-born Miss World 2000 winner reflected on her decision to open up about Hollywoods gender pay gap during our interview, crediting her agents at UTA and Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke for finding equity.
I dont think its [just] in this industry, she says. We happen to be entertainers, so the medias interested in writing [about] what we have to talk about. But if you talk about business or in any industry, women have to work quite a lot harder to prove their [worth], especially in boardrooms or in positions of power. They have to work way harder to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with a guy. I didnt even think about it, honestly. I was very excited about being part of this show, and Im not one that thinks about that very much. But I have to give my agents props. They suggested it? Youre playing co-leads, you should have parity. And I was like, You can [have that conversation], but it doesnt happen like that. You know, jaded old me, 20 years of trying this conversation.
But it was so easy. They came back and they were like, Yeah, its done. And I couldnt help but wonder, Did this happen so easily because the head of the studio was a female? Because when women are in positions where they make decisions, they think about creating opportunity for other women. And that is why its so important to create opportunity and push women to be in positions of power because it changes the game for another one.
[From Yahoo! Entertainment]
This story is not shocking, because Hollywood, but still somehow shocking because Priyanka has been in the business for a long time. Like she says, 20 years! If this series was the first time, it makes me wonder about Quantico. She was the lead, so in theory shed have the highest paycheck, but maybe they found an excuse to give more money to Josh Hopkins or Blair Underwood. I wonder who she was referring to when she talked about men feeling insecure about her success. Im glad her people advocated for her as they should since its literally their job because it sounds like shed long since given up on trying to prove herself for parity. Its sh-tty that she even still has to do so with her resume. And I think the fact that the studio head is a woman definitely helped Priyanka here. Women recognizing other successful women and creating opportunities for one another to be successful, love to see it.

| Angelina Jolie & Maddox Jolie-Pitt attended last night's White House state dinner | Added 429 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The Washington DC paparazzi (?) got a glimpse of Angelina Jolie flying into Dulles yesterday, and rumors immediately popped up that she would attend Wednesday evening?s state dinner for President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea. What we didn?t realize is that Maddox would be her date! Maddox, who was born in Cambodia, goes to university in South Korea, and Maddox speaks some Korean, or he?s possibly fluent at this point. Meanwhile, Angelina has been in and out of the Biden White House the entire time she?s been invited to attend official events, she regularly takes meetings with Biden staffers and officials, and it makes perfect sense that the Biden administration would extend an invitation to her for the state dinner.
So, Angelina came out for her first-ever White House state dinner. Maddox was her date, and he looked amazing. So did Angelina, who wore a vintage Chanel jacket over a custom gown which had been made for her several years ago. She recycled her whole outfit, I believe. She even wore pearls! She must have thought ?I?m going to the White House, time to break out the pearls.?
Dr. Jill Biden wore Reem Acra, which was understated yet stunning. The real star was South Korea?s First Lady Kim Keon Hee, who wore a dazzling white ensemble. Kim Keon Hee is 50 years old! At first, I thought President Yoon Suk Yeol brought his daughter. She looks so young. Korean skincare is no fking joke.
