| Emilia Clarke in pink Balmain at the Oscars: so pretty and perfect | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Emilia Clarke presented the RBG song Ill Fight performed by Jennifer Hudson. She was in a a striking lilac column gown by Balmain with lines of tiny sequins all over and an asymmetric neckline. This looked amazing on camera I love the way it folded and shimmered. When I see such intricate tiny work like this I wonder if its handmade or if the sequins are machined on. I always like seeing Emilia, she has such a great attitude and it shows.
Sarah Paulson was in a crazy Pink Brandon Maxwell cinched sack gown with side cutouts. This is bad but it looked kind of interesting on screen, from the back, as it was drama. The back is open and the top was like a cape. It was definitely weird though.
Melissa McCarthy was also in Brandon Maxwell, in an expertly fitted black and white gown with a full on long cape. This wasnt Melissas year to win an Oscar but shell get another shot at it.
Presenter Amandla Stenberg was in a flapper-like Miu Miu gown featuring tiny rows of sequin chains draped from the bodice and layers of fringe at the bottom. This was fun and I liked it on her.

| Rachel Weisz in orange plastic Givenchy at the Oscars: hideous & disappointing? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Rachel Weisz was an Oscar nominee for The Favourite, and we have high fashion expectations for our Oscar nominees, especially when they?re famous for being fashionable. Years ago, I would have said that Rachel could wear anything and she would look stunning. That was before Givenchy gave her an orange PVC raincoat and reworked it into some kind of tragic gown. Honestly, I will feel the Sting of this disappointment for a long time. To add insult to injury, that diamond headband is completely nonsensical with this dress.
Amy Adams lost again! Ugh. It felt like Glenn Close was going to be the example for Amy, that eventually Amy would win an Oscar for her career?s work when she gets older. But no, Amy can?t even have that. Amy knew she wasn?t going to win too, that?s why she chose this boring Versace. Again, it?s not a bad dress and it flatters her figure and it?s even a tad ?racy? for wholesome Amy. But it?s mostly just there, kind of bland and inoffensive. The necklace is bad though.
Kiki Layne has been killing it throughout the awards season, so I actually had high hopes for her Oscar look. I was underwhelmed by this Versace though. I like that it?s not a total body-con column, but the fabric roll business at the back is just? a bad design trick.

| Emma Stone in bronze Louis Vuitton at the Oscars: stunning or too structural? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Emma Stone goes too often to the pastel/neutral well when dressing for big red carpets. I know she cares about fashion, and I know she pays attention to it, but I was expecting another sparkly nothingburger gown in pale Pink or beige this year. She surprised me with this Louis Vuitton. She has a massive LV contract (big $$$), and they?re clearly customizing stuff especially for her. I wonder if this gown was her idea or their idea. The thing is? I love bronze. I love the reptilian ?scale? pattern. I would have absolutely adored this gown if the shoulders had been normal. The ?winged? structure just upsets me. It cheapens the look and makes it gimmicky. Also: she did not put ANY effort into her styling. She just slicked back her darker hair and stuck on some simple earrings.
Laura Harrier got to attend the Oscars because she had a supporting role in BlacKkKlansman (she played a young Black Panther activist). She was good in the film. I first put her name to her face because of her Louis Vuitton contract she?s one of the muses/models for LV, and she spent a lot of time on with another LV muse, Justin Theroux, last summer. I don?t know if they?re still happening. Anyway, LV made her this gown made out of entirely sustainable materials. Several women were doing the ?eco challenge? on the red carpet. I get it, even though I never think these eco dresses are particularly noteworthy sartorially. Also: the necklace doesn?t go with the gown AT ALL.

| Charlize Theron goes brunette in Dior at the Oscars: Aeon Flux Realness? | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Some days, I feel like I?m the only person who saw Aeon Flux, the Charlize Theron movie based on the anime series. It?s actually an okay movie, and Charlize is good in it. Charlize really did a LOOK for that movie, and her current look is taking me back. Charlize debuted her new brunette bob at the 2019 Oscars and if her haircut was just slightly more angular, it would be a complete Aeon Flux look. I don?t hate it, I just think she looks so different as a brunette, and? this shade doesn?t do much for her.
Charlize did what she almost always does, which is wear Dior. She?s one of the big faces of Dior perfume, and usually they give her some good looks. The material of this gown didn?t do her any favors, and neither did the color. I saw that a lot of people were like ?she?s one of the worst dressed!? I don?t think so mostly, this was just boring. I absolutely loathe the sleeves/shoulders though. The back is interesting, the necklace is not.
Letitia Wright from Black Panther also got to wear Dior. Dior gave her a much better dress! The detailing on this was gorgeous.
