As we know, Angelina Jolie and the kids were in London and Geneva this week. Angelina had a bunch of stuff to do, from meeting with William Hague at the Foreign Office, to taking a private tour of Buckingham Palace with her son Maddox, to giving a lecture at the London School of Economics, to giving an incredible speech in Geneva. Here?s something I didn?t know though: while she was in the UK on Thursday, she stopped by Lambeth Palace and met with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. Wow.
What does one wear to meet with the Archbishop of Canterbury? Can you wear slacks? Should your knees be covered? I ask because there are so many style rules for women meeting the Pope. I think the Archbishop is more loosey-goosey about dress codes though. Angelina basically just wore a sack skirt and a comfortable-looking sweater. She was covered up, but she looked pretty casual. Jolie met with the Archbishop to talk about her work with refugees and more:
Angelina Jolie is teaming up with the head of the Church of England. The actress and humanitarian met with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, at Lambeth Palace in London on Thursday, where the two discussed issues surrounding sexual violence, the refugee crisis and South Sudan.
Jolie met with the archbishop in her capacity as a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She was appointed to the post in 2012.
The actress and archbishop have worked together before, and met in 2015 at the opening of the Center for Peace and Security at the London School of Economics, where she spoke to religious leaders from around the world about ending sexual violence as a weapon of war.

In the past three years, Angelina has met the Queen (Dame Jolie!), the Duchess of Cornwall, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Pope Francis, assorted world leaders and more. Oh, and she met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge too, I forgot about that. The Archbishop tweeted about their meeting too:

Isn?t it pleasantly surprising that Taylor Swift can really go underground when she wants to? She?s arguably the biggest thing in music, and everyone thought she would be releasing new music right about now. We thought that we would be in the midst of a huge Swifty promotional tour to promote her album, complete with blind-item songs to analyze and eye-rolly quotes to Vanity Fair and Vogue about how the squad is for realsies and the big bad men did her wrong. But no. Tay-Tay has been in the wind, for the most part, for months now. No pap strolls in and out of the gym. No gratuitous Instagramming. So public friend-collecting. It?s been a relief, actually. I imagine Taylor sucks up all of the attention in whatever room she?s in, and she?s like that for gossip too – when Taylor wants attention, she gets attention and every major gossip story is about The Taylor Swift Show.
There is some evidence that we might get The Taylor Swift Show at some point this year though. Apparently, Swift has gone on a new trademarking binge, and there are rumors that she?s going to release her own streaming service:
Taylor Swift is done fighting Spotify and other streaming services for royalties, and apparently wants to become the master of her own destiny by starting her own streaming service. Taylor’s filed docs giving her the right to brand a website “featuring non-downloadable multi-media content in the nature of audio recordings.” Sounds like a streaming service to us. She wants to call the website “Swifties.”
You’ll recall Taylor famously feuded with Spotify over royalties and ended up yanking her catalog back in 2014. The move sent Spotify and others into crisis mode, fearing other artists might follow. It looks like Taylor’s going beyond a streaming service. According to the docs, she’s looking to launch a line of music products, including guitars, guitar picks, guitar straps and drumsticks. Her plans also include organizing retreats, educational camps and self-guided online courses. We reached out to Taylor’s camp, so far no word back.

Billboard had some additional analysis about the scope of these trademarks and theories about what Taylor is planning next. Gossip Cop got a very specific denial about TMZ’s story, btw. Gossip Cop’s source claims that Taylor is not going to do a Spotify-competitive streaming service but they say she definitely has some new ventures in the works. And just FYI: just because she wants to trademark all of this, that doesn?t mean she?s actually going to do anything with it, you know? She may just want to ensure that no one else can introduce or profit from a Swifties-branded venture. That being said, I think she?s gearing up for the mother of all promotional tours for a new album. I think she?s going multi-platform in a big way, and she?s determined to get #AllTheMoney. Which is her least annoying characteristic, honestly. I think Swifty is an a–hole for many different reasons, but I?ve always respected her business acumen and her brilliant marketing mind.

Thomas Sadoski, perhaps best known as Amanda Seyfried’s fiance, was on The Late Late Show with James Corden yesterday. Sadoski is promoting his role on the CBS sitcom Life in Pieces, costarring James Brolin, Dianne Wiest and Colin Hanks. He also has a film out in limited release which costars Amanda called The Last Word. Sadoski showed off his wedding ring and opened with the news that he married Amanda on Sunday, in a private civil ceremony attended only by the two of them and an officiant. He said “We eloped, we just took off into the country with an officiant and just the two of us, and we did our thing. She’s the person that I love, admire, respect most in the world.”
He said they wrote their own vows and that “it was beautiful, it was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other.”
Corden asked if it was weird afterwards because no one else except the officiant was there and Sadoski enthused “It’s great, it’s sort of perfect. Then you take the dog, you walk through the country and you go home. And you, like, have your life. We went out to dinner. We had a great day it was perfect.”
Amanda is of course pregnant and looks to be due any day now. As for whether he’s ready to be a father, Sadoski said “No, how can you be? I’m more excited about this than I’ve ever been about anything in my life. And I’m also more terrified about it than anything I’ve ever been in my entire life. If I’m too confident then I’m just kidding myself.
At that point Corden changed the conversation to address Vanessa Hudgens who was also on stage. In his transition Corden mentioned that Thomas and Amanda met when they were in a play together on Broadway (because Vanessa was just on Broadway in Gigi). When Amanda and Thomas met on Broadway in April of 2015 he was married and Amanda was with Justin Long. Thomas filed for divorce in August of 2015 and Amanda and Justin broke up a month later.
Amanda and Thomas officially reconnected on the set of The Last Word early last year, and made the announcement that they were dating in March, 2016. So now they’re married and expecting a baby. It happened quickly, the beginning of their relationship was a bit suspect/messy, but they do seem happy. I’ve never seen Thomas interviewed before and he comes across as an earnest guy who really loves Amanda. Best wishes to them. I want a nice family for Finn and I know Amanda will be a great mom.

I know CB posted these pics already but I thought Demi Lovato killed it in this pantsuit at the Kid’s Choice Awards. I love split leg pants of any sort but she is owning it.
Speaking of owning it, Wednesday marked a huge milestone for Demi ? five years sober. To celebrate this, Demi posted the following on Instagram:
So grateful. It's been quite the journey. So many ups and downs. So many times I wanted to relapse but sat on my hands and begged God to relieve the obsession. I'm so proud of myself but I couldn't have done it without my higher power (God), my family, friends, and everyone else who supported me. Feeling humbled and joyful today. Thank you guys for sticking by my side and believing in me. ??
