I never really thought of Blake Lively as a fashion icon, but she?s been trying her best to make tailored pantsuits have a moment.
In a Women Wear Daily interview in March, the 30-year-old actress revealed that she was her own stylist. When asked why, she admitted it was ?Probably because I have control issues and a big ego ? that?s probably the honest answer.? She went on to add that ?I just like it. I love design and I love fashion and it?s a way to be creative.? Her creativity has recently been expressed through a whole lot of pantsuits, like the tuxedo-esque Ralph & Russo ensemble she wore at the VMAs on Monday night.
During rehearsals for the VMAs on Monday, Blake was spotted in a linen, pastel menswear-inspired suit from Vivienne Westwood?s Fall 2018 collection. She finished the look with a loose-fitting blouse from Sonia Rykiel and Christian Louboutin flats (he makes flats? You learn something new everyday, I guess). Love the blush shade of the suit, and I would definitely wear that blouse with a pair of jeans, but I don?t like the ?I just pulled this out of the hamper? feelings this suit is giving me. Linen is an often problematic fabric. Hate, hate, hate the shoes.
Blake is making the promotional rounds for her latest movie, the Paul Feig-directed crime drama A Simple Favor, so she?s had lots of opportunities to show off some of the other suits in her wardrobe, including a velvet number from Brunello Cucinelli that she wore on Friday. She?s wearing a jacket over another jacket albeit a sleeveless one and no shirt this time around. I live in Atlanta, not New York, but I can?t imagine it?s ?jacket weather? there yet. She must be hot, right? This suit is giving me a bohemian vibe, maybe it?s the velvet, but I guess it?s okay. The spiked Louboutin pumps she?s wearing with this suit are infinitely better than those flats. I really like them.
Also on Friday, she was seen because there?s no way you could miss her in a neon green Versace jacket, pants and sweater. Fun fact: the jacket is from Versace?s Spring 2019 Men?s collection. I actually kind of like this one. Yes, she looks like a walking highlighter, but it?s bright and the most late summer-appropriate outfit she?s worn during this latest parade of pantsuits.
Did the circus come to town? That?s the only thing I can think about when seeing Blake in this checkered monstrosity from Roland Mouret that she modeled on Saturday. She added accessories that hearken back to her Gossip Girl days, including a collared shirt and tie (tucked into her pantswhy?), a saddle bag and a Lorraine Schwartz brooch. Nope. Nope, nope, nope.
I also kind of dig this three-piece pinstriped suit from Zimmerman seen on Sunday. I?ve always been a sucker for a nice, tailored vest though. I have a small(-ish) waist and bigger legs, so I think these wide leg pants could actually work on me as well. Maybe that?s why I like this one? But still, there?s so much fabric going on here. I admire her ability to not look like she?s sweating to death. I guess I can also admire her commitment to her pantsuits, but Im kind of ready for the next chapter in her fashion narrative.

Kendall Jenner is featured in the latest issue of Love Magazine (a British publication). I rarely cover anything from Love Mag, because I don?t really find their editorials all that compelling or notable, and the interviews (such as they are) are rather basic. But Love Magazine is making some news this week, because they published a quote from Kendall accompanied by some semi-nude new photos. Kendall apparently chatted with Love about her modeling career and how she was careful to avoid walking every runway:
?Since the beginning we?ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fk those girls do. More power to ?em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back,? says the 22-year-old, admitting that she ?was on the verge of a mental breakdown.?

First of all, I?ve always believed the reason why Kendall and Gigi Hadid don?t walk every runway is because they?re both sh-tty runway models. Gigi clomps like a horse and Kendall doesn?t have much of a ?walk.? Second of all, Kendall just pissed off the entire modeling community, the same community which already viewed her with justifiable suspicion because of her dumb nepotism.
Over the weekend, Love magazine posted the model?s quote along with an image from her accompanying photoshoot ? and Jenner?s fellow catwalkers flocked to the comments section to share how they felt about her workload.
?This makes me so angry,? wrote Victoria?s Secret model Jac Jagaciak. ?So disrespectful to literally 99% of people in the industry ? yes, they had to work their way up. Please get in tough with the real world!?
Added Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition stunner Vita Sidorkina: ?Maybe ?those girls? need to pay their bills that?s why they are doing 30 shows? No words??
Other models screengrabbed and shared Love magazine?s post to their Instagram Stories along with commentary. ??? Whatever the f?k those girls do? is do their very best to make their way up AND try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families,? wrote runway fixture Daria Strokous. ?Oh, and it?s 70 shows a season by the way and we are all f?king proud of every single one of the girls that did it.?
Peyton Knight followed suit, hashtagging her post ?#ENDTHEPRIVILEGE? and writing, ?This kinda disrespect towards other models who have NO NAME for themselves walking into the industry is disgusting. We don?t get to ?choose? which shows to do, and it?s an honor to do a lot? If we said no to multiple jobs we wouldn?t have a career.?
And transgender model Teddy Quinlivan shared a longer response to her Instagram Story. ?As models we need to uplift each other,? she wrote. ?If you are lucky as a model you might make enough to not be in debt to your agency; maybe even move out of the model apartment? Unfortunately this isn?t the case for the vast majority of models who have to leave everything behind including their families in pursuit of a better life?.Models don?t just come from Calabasas? they come from Somalia, the Siberian tundra, a rural village in China, a trailer park in Tennessee. Making disparaging comments about your peers doesn?t lead to growth or unity which our regulation-less industry desperately needs.?
Jenner?s rep told Page Six that the star?s quote was taken out of context. ?She realized the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80,? the rep explained. ?The point was that it?s their path and ?the more power to them.? She admires their hard work and dedication. It?s an accomplishment.?

Yes, Kendall looks down her nose job at other models? ?paths? of, you know, actually working constantly and doing the day-to-day work of being a jobbing model. More power to the real models, because fake-lipped fake model Kendall only used the ?model? job to do the bare minimum of work and then just coasted on nepotism. Kendall is such a pill. Oh, and the pill released another statement on Twitter:

I am underwhelmed by Nicki Minaj these days. She went (relatively) quiet for a few years, presumably working on tons of new music. She?s spent the last few months promoting her latest album, QUEEN, and she?s been trying to start beefs right and left. I haven?t kept track. I know there?s some sh-t with Cardi B, and I know there?s a ton of sh-t with Safaree, who said last week that Minaj cut him so badly that he almost died. Abuse is no joke and it was disturbing to see Minaj?s fans shrug off that revelation. Then there are Minaj?s recent verbal attacks on Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner, because? I honestly can?t follow her train of thought. She?s mad that Kylie has been promoting Travis?s album on her social media, I think. She?s mad that Travis?s album is selling well? or something. She?s also comparing herself to Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman, because sure. The gist of it is that Minaj seems to be flailing. And it has affected sales:

In danger of being canceled? Just hours after Page Six reported that, Minaj did cancel the North American leg of her tour, and she claims she?ll reschedule everything for next summer.
Nicki Minaj has canceled her previously announced North American tour with Future. A statement from Live Nation notes that Minaj ?has decided to reevaluate elements of production on the ?NickiHndrxx Tour?? following her surprise performance Monday at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. The cancellation follows unverified reports of low ticket sales.
The jaunt was set to launch September 21st in Baltimore, Maryland ? less than two months after the release of Minaj?s long-awaited fourth LP, Queen. The North American leg will now kick off in May 2019, though no dates have been announced as of this writing; due to scheduling conflicts, Future will not participate. The tour will now launch in February with a previously announced European run. Refunds for the canceled North American dates will be available at point of purchase, and Minaj will announce new on-sale dates soon.

Do you believe that? I do not. I think? Minaj might not be happening anymore? Like, in the larger scale of things, Minaj just isn?t as popular as she once was and she was gone so long that people moved on and sort of forgot about her? Minaj obviously still has fans and she?s still beloved by some. But it really did hit me during the VMAs this year: Minaj isn?t really a ?thing? anymore.

It?s sort of nice that no matter what?s happening in the world, no matter how apocalyptic it feels out here, we can always count on Angelina Jolie dressing like a widowed Italian grandmother. These are photos of Angelina out in LA with Zahara and Shiloh on Tuesday. They traveled by car to Robertson, and the paparazzi got these photos of the ?girls day out? as they walked into Kitson. Apparently, Angelina, Shiloh and Zahara were all in good spirits, and you can see that everyone seems light and happy.
Reportedly, Brad and Angelina?s lawyers met for some kind of custodial hearing yesterday. I waited to see if we would get any kind of information or leak out of it. I actually expecting some four-alarm TMZ headline about it. There was nothing. The lack of information could mean that the lawyers were reminded about NOT leaking sh-t to the press. It could mean that nothing was really decided, that this was just one hearing or discussion in what will be a lengthy and prolonged legal battle over custody.
But? that?s not what the press leaks were about ahead of this hearing. Team Brad made it sound like some big stuff was going to be decided this week, and it would be decided in Brad?s favor. So does the lack of information mean that gulp things didn?t really go Brad?s way? And maybe he and his lawyers need a few days to figure out a way to ?massage? whatever came out of the hearing? I?m expecting a Page Six story about Angelina being insanely jelly over Jennifer Aniston at any moment.
