Over the last few months, I have done many posts on Pixie Lott. I think she is one of the hottest chicks around. Once again, she heads out in public impressing little Tuna in this lingerie outfit. Unfortunately, I never heard one of her songs so I decided to share one with you. I think […]

| Emily Ratajkowski: 'Wanting attention is genderless. It's human' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Emily Ratajkowski has grown on me so much over the past year. While many people still take issue with Emily, her sexuality and her feminism, she?s one of the few young celebrities who have made me stop and think about how I write about feminism and celebrities. Some high points of just the past few months: Emily gave a full-throated defense of Kim Kardashian, and they even seemed to befriend each other. Emily gave a series of interesting interviews about the male gaze, sexuality, feminism and how society treats women who don?t fall into a certain ?good girl? box. Emily covers the new issue of Glamour ? in addition to a short interview, she also wrote an essay about the way society treats women who want to have a voice in any way:
She was criticized online for being political & public: ?After posting a picture of myself at the rally and a video of my speech about Bernie Sanders?s positions on equal pay, maternity leave, and economic inequality, I was trolled heavily. Commenters said I had ?an excess of beauty and lack of brain? and told me to ?shut up and show us your t-ts.? But I was also criticized in a very specific way? for seeking attention. They wrote me off as ?a desperate attention whore,? saying I was taking part in the conversation only because everybody else was too. I realized then that I?ve been called an attention whore so often that I had almost gotten used to it. And as women we are accused of seeking attention more than men are, whether for speaking out politically, as I did, for dressing a certain way, or for even posting a selfie. Our culture has a double standard that runs so deep, many women have actually built up an automatic defense?attempting to be a step ahead of potential critics by making sure we have ?real? reasons for anything we say or do.?
Sexy & opinionated: ?Often it?s men propelling these acts of sexism, but women discount one another too: Think about how many times you?ve heard a woman say about another woman, ?Oh, she?s just doing that for attention.? We?ve internalized this trope. Our society tells women we can?t be, say, sexy and confident and opinionated about politics. This would allow us too much power. Instead our society asks us to declare and defend our motivations, which makes us second-guess them, all while men do what they please without question? The truth is that both groups want to be noticed. Yet we view a man?s desire for attention as a natural instinct; with a woman, we label her a narcissist.?
Genderless motives: ?It?s absurd to think that desire for attention doesn?t drive both women and men. Why are women scrutinized for it more, then? And if a woman dresses up because she does want attention, male or otherwise, does that make her guilty of something? Or less ?serious?? Our society doesn?t question men?s motivations for taking their shirt off, or shaving, or talking about politics?nor should it. Wanting attention is genderless. It?s human.
Attention & victim-blaming: ?In August a young woman, Karina Vetrano, was raped and murdered while on a jog in Queens, New York. The New York Daily News published an article about ?the brainy and beautiful victim,? including a selfie of Vetrano from her Instagram. One commenter said, ?Poor girl yes. But she put herself out there like a Kardashian carbon copy.? Later he added, ?If you?re going to be out there, be prepared for the attention, good and bad.? This is how far the attention accusation can go: It validates the idea that this woman?s actions?wearing makeup, posting selfies?might have contributed to her senseless murder. Would you have seen the same type of comment had the victim been male? Doubtful. Women should be allowed to be themselves and live the way they want to, just as Vetrano did.
Women are the only ones whose motives are questioned: ?The ideal feminist world shouldn?t be one where women suppress their human instincts for attention and desire. We shouldn?t be weighed down with the responsibility of explaining our every move. We shouldn?t have to apologize for wanting attention either. We don?t owe anyone an explanation. It?s not our responsibility to change the way we are seen?it?s society?s responsibility to change the way it sees us.
[From Glamour]
And once again, another great piece from Emily. This reminded me a lot of her conversation with Naomi Wolff a few months ago, where they discussed reclaiming the gaze, and basically everything Emily discusses here. That it?s completely natural and normal to want attention, for men and women. That it?s natural to be sexual, to be sexy, to have opinions, to be political, to want to be heard, to reach out, to be a part of a dialogue. And yet only women are slammed for those things. If I have one criticism of Emily at this point, it?s that she sometimes veers a little bit into the ?woe is the plight of the attractive woman? thing. Her points are completely valid and she?s having a larger dialogue, of course. But the whole reason she?s been given this platform to discuss these issues is because, oh right, she?s a beautiful, sexy woman and she?s exactly the kind of woman who is given priority in our society too. Glamour isn?t asking overweight Marge the Bouncer to talk about these issues (although I would love to know what Marge thinks).

| Kate Upton: 'L.A.?how do I know who's who' You all look like sisters' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kate Upton is one of three cover ladies for the October issue of Glamour. Joan Smalls and Emily Ratajkowski also got separate covers, and I?ll be covering those stories separately (or maybe not in Smalls? case, just because her interview is pretty boring). Anyway, Upton is back to modeling after a brief hiatus where she tried to become a movie star, to somewhat mixed results. I mean, she got chances but Hollywood was just sort of *shrug*. So she re-signed with a modeling agency and I?m guessing she?s refocusing on getting modeling work. In any case, I didn?t hate her interview at all. She talks about body image, the modeling industry and how it?s good to be different.
Did she always want to model? ?I knew nothing about fashion growing up, because in Florida you just wear bikinis and flip-flops. But kids can be cruel, and they used to make fun of me for having long legs and bushy eyebrows. My mom would flip through magazines and say, ?Look, all these models have that too.? I decided I wanted to be a model.?
Whether she was ever told to lose weight: ?All. The. Time. At first I tried to diet to become their image, but eventually I realized that it wasn?t realistic?that this is just the shape of my body. So I had to block them out. I think that the people who are the loudest about wanting to change you are the people with the least amount of vision and creativity.
Her confidence: ?Where I grew up, it was considered a great thing to have a curvy body to fill out a bathing suit. For that to be a negative was so confusing to me. And besides, when I started working, I was booked constantly, mostly for catalog work. So when people were saying, ?Oh, she doesn?t have the right look for a model,? I thought, Then why am I working every single day? There are so many different directions you can take in the modeling industry, so many ways to be successful.
Her breakthrough year in 2013: ?That was a really cool moment. The fact that people were having a conversation about whether I should conform to fashion or not gave me a great platform, because I wanted to show that you shouldn?t conform, you should be the best you, the healthiest you. You shouldn?t always try to change yourself, because then how are we going to tell anybody apart? It?s like L.A.?how do I know who?s who? You all look like sisters.?
Whether negative comments affect her: ?In the beginning it was so hurtful. But I have to say, the other day I was reading some negative comments, and I was thinking they were really funny. So I guess they don?t anymore.?
Inspirations: ?I love what I do?I love fashion. Whatever you wear, it really sets the tone for the day. If I?m in sweatpants, I fully become that person?I?m lazy and kind of a mess. The opposite is also true; fashion can give you confidence. And things have definitely changed in the industry, mostly for the positive. We?re more accepting now. For me, someone like Ashley Graham, who loves her body and is always talking about it, is inspiring.
[From Glamour]
What?s weird is that I remember the rise of Kate Upton and how truly pearl-clutchy people were about what Upton meant for modeling. Yes, she?s blonde, ?wholesome-looking? with big boobs, but people really freaked out because she had hips and she didn?t look like a standard size-zero model. She became a de facto spokeswoman for ?curvy models? even though, looking back on it now, she really wasn?t that much bigger than regular models. And I do think Upton opened up the door for someone like Ashley Graham, and for a larger conversation about body diversity in fashion/modeling.

| Renee Zellweger on rumors that Kenny Chesney is gay: 'that made me sad' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These are photos of Renee Zellweger at the German premiere of Bridget Jones’ Baby on Wednesday. She’s wearing a bizarre black Monse one-arm dress with a high leg slit, ruching on the side which leads to a giant bow, a folded flap at the neckline, and even more unnecessary details like a bubble arm with a cutout across the top. It’s like a bad 80s prom dress made in home ec class.
Renee has a new interview with The Advocate and I’m struck by how much she sounds like Ashley Judd here. In fact she’s been sounding like Ashley Judd for a while in that she uses a lot of big words but doesn’t say much. Everyone is focusing on her comments about whether Kenny Chesney was gay. She said that the story is made up and it makes her sad, but there’s a lot of word salad to get through.
Do you have a similar gay confidant?
I?m lucky to have handfuls. The majority of my closest friends are gay, and I have my pearl. I went to Miami for New Year?s Eve some years back with him and his boyfriend, and we got paparazzied on the beach. We had a very Bridget Jones moment: He had no desire to be photographed in his trunks, so he told me, ?You need to get out of here and go for a run right now!? Some tabloid ran the photos and wrote, ?Has Rene finally found her pearl?? I was like, ?Aww, he?s my pearl!? He?s family to me. We dated for a minute, actually.
After citing ?fraud? as the reason for annulling your marriage to Kenny Chesney in 2005, many media outlets alleged that he must be gay.
I forgot about that. It?s a pretty big thing to forget, isn?t it? That made me sad. It made me sad that somehow people were using that as a way to be cruel and calling someone gay as a pejorative, which has fateful consequences. Of course, there?s the bigger-picture problem of why anyone had to make up a story at all.
Were you tempted to publicly jump to his defense?
Well, I?d said all I needed to say on that subject. I?m an old-fashioned gal who doesn?t feel it?s appropriate to hang out your laundry on the lawn. I feel you devalue yourself as a human being when you share very personal things with a bajillion strangers who are making fun of you. I just don?t see that there?s any dignity in that. But sometimes it is difficult to just let something be what it is, especially when it?s unnecessary ugliness. Once you?ve said your piece, shouldn?t that be enough? And why is the ugliness that?s perpetuated in the media so attractive to people?
In Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason?s lesbian twist, Bridget got a surprise snog from a female admirer. Has a woman ever expressed her love for you?
Yes, thank goodness. But I loved her differently. We talked about it, we laughed, and I was happy she trusted me and that we have a relationship where we could have that conversation.
[From The Advocate]
I actually remember those photos Renee mentions where she was running at the beach after being spotted with a male friend because she had a portable CD player with her. Although it was many years ago (it was before smart phones) hardly anyone was still using portable CD players back then. I think I found those, that was in 2006 and people were speculating about Renee’s love life because she had recently split with Kenny Chesney. She eventually went on to date Bradley Cooper, and we know how that turned out. She seems happy now in her relationship of over three years with Doyle Bramhall II.
As for whether checking “fraud” on her divorce papers meant that Kenny Chesney was gay, Kenny has explained that it was a legal decision in order to obtain an annulment. He insists he has a “long line of girls who could testify that I am not gay.” Kenny went on to clarify that he’s slept with well over a hundred women. Renee’s comments here remind me so much of her other recent interviews in that it’s hard to tell what she’s saying other than the fact that the media notices and speculates about her life and she dislikes that. She has an issue with not speaking plainly. I did really like what she said about a female friend who expressed a romantic interest in her. That was sweet.

| Katherine Heigl and her husband are 'hugely relieved' to be having a boy | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Grey?s Anatomy alum Katherine Heigl is expecting her third child, a boy, with her hubby, singer Josh Kelley, in January. The child will be joining adopted daughters Naleigh, 7, and Adalaide, 4, in the Heigl/Kelley clan.
Although the 37-year-old actress cleared the air with her Knocked Up co-star Seth Rogen a few weeks ago, she is still ranked #24 on Star Magazine?s ?Most Hated Celebrities? list. Katherine is making a return to the small screen on the new CBS legal drama, Doubt, co-starring the amazing Laverne Cox (whom I still love despite her participation in FOX?s new Rocky Horror abomination). Katherine recently talked to InTouch about her pregnancy and while she didn?t offer any earth-shattering revelations about the miracle of birth, she did spill the beans about why her hubby is ?relieved? that they?re having a boy.
On pregnancy: ?I?m just tired and hungry. I?m hungry for doughnuts every day. And if you put a cinnamon roll in front of me, it?s going to get ugly.?
On the best advice she?s received: ?the thing that I?m taking to heart is to get as much rest as I can.?
On family life during pregnancy: ?The weekends are like, ?Okay, where are we going for brunch?? and then it?s, ‘Where are we going for dinner?? The other day I came home to a bouquet of flowers and a really sweet note from the kids that I?m sure [Josh] made them write.?
Hubby Josh on having a boy: “His brother had a boy last February, and they?re already talking about their golf foursome.?
[From InTouch]
I?ve not had kids of my own, but I can only assume pregnancy would make anyone tired and hungry, right? It seems like Katherine is trying to overhaul her public image, so good on you, girl, I guess. She did recently confess on her lifestyle/crafting blog, Those Heavenly Days, that before she knew she was pregnant, she converted her daughters’ former nursery into a craft room. She reposted the image of her new (now temporary) crafting room to Instagram with the caption, ?So I turned the nursery into my craft room before I realized I was expecting a new family member. Bad timing, awesome new craft room!” Okay, that’s kind of endearing.
So I turned the nursery into my craft room before I realized I was expecting a new family member. Bad timing, awesome new craft room! Go to thoseheavenlydays.com to read my latest post and hopefully get craft room inspired! #thoseheavenlydays #badlandsranch #alittlespacetocallmyown

| Natalie Portman shows off her baby bump in Valentino: regal & glowing? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Natalie Portman walked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival for the second night in a row on Thursday. And unlike Wednesday night?s premiere of Jackie, Natalie didn?t even try to hide her very obvious second-trimester bump. Yes, Natalie Portman is pregnant. There?s no hard-and-fast confirmation from Natalie?s rep or Natalie herself, but People Magazine is ?confirming? that she is knocked up, in case you don?t believe your eyes. Shall I do a little ?I told you so? dance? I knew she was knocked up a month ago. She actually hasn?t been hiding it at all.
Natalie?s gown here is Valentino. It?s very pretty, very regal, and very Jackie Kennedy! Too bad this premiere was for Planetarium, the film which is not about Jackie Kennedy. Planetarium costars Lily-Rose Depp, who looks sort of sullen that Natalie?s bump is soaking up all of the red carpet attention. Lily-Rose is wearing her own vintage Chanel dress. As in, she didn?t borrow this. It was already in her closet. She?s 17.
Getting back to Natalie?s second pregnancy? I think it?s interesting that she got knocked up just months after Benjamin Millepied was pushed out of his position at the Paris de Opera. Reportedly, Benjamin and Natalie have been having problems for the better part of a year, or maybe that was just random tabloid gossip. They genuinely seemed strained though. My thought is that Natalie was so happy to move back to America that she got knocked up as quickly as possible. Is that a weird theory? Whatever.
