Iggy Azalea has deleted her social media accounts, including her Twitter and Instagram, following a leak of topless photos that were outtakes from her 2016 GQ cover shoot. Heres part of the statement she released on twitter in response to the leak with more at the source. She talked about feeling sickened and overwhelmed by the online response.
Recently some outtakes from my 2016 GQ magazine cover were leaked to the public. A lot of high profile women have shot covers for GQ with a strategically placed hand, etc., covering their breasts etc. I always felt they were very beautiful covers, so I jumped at the opportunity. I hadn?t seen other women?s covers leak so I felt comfortable (on a closed set) to model for such a reputable magazine knowing only the images with my hands covering would be considered for print. I never consented to taking topless pictures for potential release, period. It was my understanding BEFORE shooting, GQ do not print topless pictures.
There was no reason for anyone to have kept the outtakes from the shoot. I?m surprised and angry that they were not immediately deleted after the final images were selected.
I feel blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry, sad, and a million other things. Not solely because I did not consent to this ? but also because of the vile way people have reacted.
A lot of the comments I see from men in particular taking things even further and sharing their thoughts and fantasies in regards to my body has honestly disturbed me. The Outright wicked things people say is overwhelming & makes me feel like throwing up. If youve ever been humiliated before in front of friends & those you care about maybe you can relate to what Im going through.

Iggy also wrote that she wants to find the source of the leak and press criminal charges. She explained that she?s staying off social media ?for now.?
Nino Muoz, who took the photos for GQ Australia, has issued a statement that he?s not responsible for the leak, and that he?s ?outraged and saddened? by it. I hope that the authorities are able to figure out who?s responsible (and soon), and that that they will be appropriately prosecuted. These kinds of stories make me feel awful for the victims. I also get anxious thinking about how easy it is for us to lose control over photos and other revealing information when we trust people and it turns out that someone has less-than-honorable intentions. Poor Iggy.

| Brad Pitt missed Shiloh's 13th birthday to hang out with 'friends' in Venice | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As we discussed on Tuesday, Brad Pitt seems to have flown to Venice straight from his promotional work in Cannes for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad?s not just visiting Venice for the sights, although I imagine he has done some touristy things. No, he?s there for the Biennale art event, and to see his good friend, artist Thomas Houseago. These photos are from Tuesday can we just take a moment and talk about Brad?s sleeves? Those are Mid-life Crisis Sleeves, swear to God. No self-respecting man should be doing those loose, blousey sleeves.
Anyway, as many people mentioned on the previous post, it seems like Brad skipped his daughter?s 13th birthday. Shiloh turned 13 on Monday, and my goodness I can?t believe it?s been 13 YEARS since she was born in Namibia. Crazy. There?s been no word on how Shiloh celebrated her big birthday, but I imagine she was with her mom and her brothers and sisters. Or maybe she was playing soccer, or she went skateboarding, or something else. It?s pretty clear that those kids have gotten used to an absentee father, so hopefully Shiloh wasn?t expecting to see Brad.
Additionally, the Daily Mail is doing the Daily Mail thing and trying to make it sound like Brad could be in Venice with a lady. Now, it wouldn?t surprise me at all if Brad does a Girlfriend Unveiling this summer. I just don?t think it?s going to be this young woman, who looks more like an artist?s assistant or someone who works for the art exhibition. You can see another photo of this Mystery Woman here in that ET pic, she looks more like his type. But ET just says that Brad is spending time with ?friends? in Venice. I don?t know.

| Olivia Wilde: 'Being young is the most painful and most hilarious experience' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

There?s a lot of positive buzz about Booksmart, the coming of age movie which marks Olivia Wilde?s directorial debut. It has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences love it too. Some reports are focusing on its poor performance at the box office, but it didn?t get much promotion by its distributor and it wasnt a bug budget film. I haven?t seen it in theaters yet but I plan to. The Guardian has an interview with Olivia which I found interesting and wanted to talk about. I especially liked what she said about how they?re not making the same kind of movies for teens that we had growing up. (Although she?s a decade younger than me.)
You?ve said you want Booksmart to be a generational anthem. What does that mean in 2019?
Well, the greatest generational anthems in my film-watching experience, specifically The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller?s Day Off, were a real celebration of the exciting independence of youth. There?s something punk rock about it: ?We?re in charge, our voices matter and we know more than the grown-ups.? And that represents this young generation to me now. They?re like: ?You?ve put us in a fucked-up political situation, the Earth is dying, there are maniacs in power, you?ve created this binary way of thinking about gender and sexuality, which we don?t accept. We?d actually like to shift this paradigm ? you?re done!?
There were a lot of high-school comedies in the 1980s and 90s, but fewer recently. Why did they stop getting made?
I think they became more patronising: it became about poking fun at the ineptitude of young boys in terms of sexuality. Think of American Pie: there?s a lot of truly funny performances, but it seemed to lose touch with the deeply emotional crises that you see in those John Hughes movies. Being young is the most painful and the most hilarious experience.
Your mother ran (unsuccessfully) for Congress. What was it like?
I?ve been interested in politics for a long time. I worked very hard for Obama in 2008 and 2012, but local politics, congressional races are unique. I?ve seen my mom do incredible things: she?s worked in war zones as a journalist, she?s spoken truth to power in different ways, she?s also just my kick-ass mom, but seeing her in this position was unbelievable. The energy it takes to run for office, I could never do it. It?s so vulnerable and it?s so exhausting because the campaign finance system in electoral politics is so corrupt that, in order to stay afloat as a candidate, you are constantly raising money. It?s really unfortunate, but there are bright spots on the horizon ? you see people such as AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] who no one thought had a chance.
Who would you like to see as the Democratic nominee for 2020?
I don?t know yet. We have to keep our eye on Congress as well as the presidential election; we have to remember there are so many seats we have to maintain. If we lose Congress, we are so fucked! But there are so many Democratic candidates at this point that now we need to start debating and see who can survive. But I really like Elizabeth Warren.
[From The Guardian]
I didn?t get to vote for Olivia Wilde?s mom but I have friends in her district who did and expected her to win. Olivia and her fiance Jason Sudeikis campaigned for her and it must have been tough to see her lose. It definitely was for her potential constituents. As for her thoughts on young adult movies, while I loved the John Hughes films growing up, I cringe when I rewatch them. They are problematic, they are very male-centric and they do not hold up at all. I have higher hopes for Booksmart and given the reviews I think they?ll be met. I also think we?ll be seeing more of Wilde as a director, which I look forward to.

| Busy Philipps: Something 1/2 the population experiences monthly shouldn't be taboo | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Busy Philipps show has been off the air for almost two weeks and I miss her already. Shes funny, shes wacky, shes entertaining and shes always herself. This article is about periods though, and activists who are working for menstrual equality, especially for women who cannot afford supplies. Busy was interviewed for a brief documentary about this created by CBS. Celebrities help bring interest to causes and she knows this and was willing to talk about it. They also interviewed women who have been affected by lack of access to menstrual products, in school and in the military, and activists trying to distribute menstrual products and make them tax free nation-wide. (Tampons and pads are only tax free in 15 states.) This documentary reminded me of the Oscar-winning short documentary, Period. End of Sentence, except focused on US women and the ways that we are marginalized and punished for needing minor accommodations.
In fact, that stigma ? and the secrecy that it spawns ? have given rise to a painful reality known as period poverty, which quietly affects millions of American women every day. In essence, period poverty means not being able to afford to purchase feminine hygiene products, like tampons and pads. And while many of us probably take access to these sorts of products for granted, there are growing populations of women and girls who have to make impossible life choices every month, just to survive their cycles.
If you have to pick and choose, do I buy food for my child or do I get my sanitary needs, thats kind of hard and no one should have to experience that, said Brooklyn native Nicole Johnson, who went into a homeless shelter in 2005 with her four children. Its demeaning. It makes you feel very sad. Its a heartbreaking situation.
Johnson now lives in transitional housing, but she is one of the more than 16 million American women ? 1 in 8, according to 2016 U.S. Census data ? battling poverty every day.
If you cant even put a loaf of bread on the table, how do you expect a person to buy a box of tampons that may be $5 and change? she explains. Most people dont stop and think about it. I guess they feel theyre able to get their own pads and tampons. Its the littlest things that people dont focus on. Yes, you need food, you need water. Theres plenty of soup kitchens. But the personal items, the sanitary napkins, the soap, the toothpaste, deodorant? its not that easy for people.
To make matters worse, women cannot buy tampons or pads with public benefits like food stamps. They are not included in flexible or health spending account allowances. And they are not covered by health insurance or Medicaid.
So the only financial assistance women can really hope for is in the form of taxes. After all, every state has the ability to pick and choose products theyd like to make more affordable by exempting them from sales tax. All 50 states have given tax exemptions to prescription medications, even optional male enhancement ones like Rogaine. Louisiana did it for Mardi Gras beads. Idaho did it for chainsaws. Illinois even did it for BBQ sunflower seeds. Yet, to date, only 15 states and Washington, D.C. have officially exempted pads and tampons from sales tax
You know, people will say that were seeing how broken the systems are and its time to fix them, said [activist Jennifer] Weiss-Wolf. I dont actually think of it that way. I think the systems are working exactly as they were intended to do, which was to keep women out of power. And ignoring menstruation is just as much of a part of that as all of these other arguments and cases that were arguing now.
Celebrities like Busy Philipps, who regularly advocates for womens rights and the destigmatization of womens health issues, have now taken up the cause, as well, by bluntly and nonchalantly discussing their periods on both social media and national TV.
Something that happens to half the population once a month shouldnt be a taboo subject, Philipps told CBS News. I mean, to be totally honest, and Im sure Im not the first person to say this, but like if men had their periods, it would be like f***ing celebrated. You know, it would be like a holiday. They would get the week off of work and probably the week before and then like the four days after their period ends, so that they could recover. It would just be a different experience. But men do not get periods. Women get periods.
[From CBS News]
Thats outrageous that you cant pay for menstrual products with flexible spending accounts and that in 35 states theyre not even considered a tax free medical product. I really liked how the author of Periods Gone Public, Jennifer Weiss-Wolf, explained it by saying that the system works just as it was intended, implying to keep us down. Were seeing that now even more with these ridiculous bans on abortion. I did get a lot out of the documentary, which is available on CBSs site. There was a woman who was collecting and distributing pads and tampons who had two little boys who could quickly and simply describe periods and how they affect women. Meanwhile a woman described how demeaning it was to ask for minor accommodations in a military academy, where the male cadets would throw away the tampons that other women would leave to help each other out, calling them gross.
Heres a link to an article with organizations that distribute pads to women and girls in need and heres more on the period equality movement.
