| Kim Kardashian & Kanye West welcomed a baby girl via surrogacy | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I honestly thought Kim Kardashian and Kanye West?s surrogate was due in December. Whenever I saw photos of them last month, I always thought ?the baby should be here by now!? In truth, we didn?t actually know the due date – Kim was somewhat stingy with some details, so maybe the baby was always due in January. Well, their surrogate gave birth to a baby girl yesterday in California.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s family has officially grown! The famous couple welcomed their third child via surrogate, and the family is over the moon.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” Kim announced on her app Tuesday. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.” Their daughter was born Jan. 15 at 12:47 a.m. PT and weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz., Kim added.
[From E! News]
Good for them, all of them. I know a lot of people side-eyed Kim and Kanye using a surrogate, but seriously, she had two really difficult pregnancies and deliveries. I think Saint?s difficult delivery was the end of it for Kim – she probably could have carried another pregnancy, but there would have been no guarantee that she could give birth one more time without massive complications. So, they went with surrogacy and shockingly, they kept the whole thing relatively discreet. They used a reputable agency and Kanye hasn?t even spoken in public in more than a year.
Also: by Kim?s own admission, North absolutely loathes her little brother, so no, I doubt North is ?especially thrilled? to have a new sibling. I can?t wait to hear the name? it will be good, I?m sure.

I just heard they’re planning to end Modern Family after next season, and honestly, I didn’t even realize they were still making that show. I stopped watching it years ago. Anyway, I know Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland both have promising second careers as full-time Instagram models lined up, but I’m not sure what’s going […]

| Why is everyone criticizing Victoria Beckham for her latest eyewear ad? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Victoria Beckham has been trying to sell you everything for years. I remain unmoved by Posh Beckham?s fashion lines, quite honestly. I used to think her stuff was interesting, years ago, when she was just blatantly copying Roland Mouret. But here and now in 2018, I couldn?t pick Victoria?s clothes out of a lineup. Apparently, though, her brand sells well, she?s opening up stores around the world and she?s raking in the big money. She doesn?t just do ready-to-wear, obviously – she?s also got a piece of the lucrative accessories market, with purses, shoes, scarves (I?m assuming?) and eyewear.
Posh uses her social media to promote her label, obviously, and several days ago, she posted some official-looking ad images from her eyewear line. She tweeted the images out with this message: ?Back to work! Start the year with new frames from the Spring Summer 2018 #VBEyewear collection inspired by 1970s retro classics and updated for a feathery-light, fresh and modern look.? FEATHERY-LIGHT. Look at the image she posted for these feathery-light frames:
This model is named Giedre Dukauskaite. She?s 29 years old and she?s very slender. My guess is that she?s probably normal-sized by fashion industry standards, meaning that in person she probably looks very, very thin, but she probably fits into every sample size. I also think the Posh-styling of baggy, ?70s-flavored clothing makes Giedre seem especially thin. But all in all, I wouldn?t have even picked up on WHY this image was causing so much commotion. Like, this looks like a Marc Jacobs ad to me. Giedre looks like most models (and props to Posh for hiring a 29-year-old as opposed to a 13-year-old).
Still, I guess this was the first time that people saw a model in an advertisement, because people are freaking the f–k out about how Giedre is really thin and Posh is a terrible person for encouraging eating disorders. Piers Friggin? Morgan is on his high horse about how this ad is ?shocking and shameful? and sends a terrible message to young girls and all of that. You guys? why am I so weird to not get why this ad is so terribly different than all of the other completely unrealistic ads featuring very thin models? I?m not saying that we shouldn?t talk about advertising and body image and all of that – we absolutely should have those conversations. But why about this ad in particular? Am I missing something?

| Nina Agdal's cover photo was pulled by a magazine because she was not 'in top shape' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I know Nina Agdal, 25, because she used to date Leonardo DiCaprio until she aged out of the DiCaprio Girlfriend Experience ( Kaiser) early last Spring. I suspect a lot of women date DiCaprio for the name recognition, but I digress. She’s known as a Victoria’s Secret model and she earned some headlines and likely got some gigs after dating DiCaprio.
Anyway Nina is getting some minor press now because she was pulled from a magazine?s planned cover story for not being “in top shape.” More on that in a moment. She posted a message to Instagram in which she?s looking incredibly fit and is nude from the wait up with an arm over her breasts. (Our advertisers don?t like it when we show strategic nudity so you can see that photo on Instagram.) That was the photo that the magazine wouldn’t use. I?m just putting some of the text below.
Today, I?m disappointed and appalled at the still very harsh reality of this industry. A few months ago, I agreed to shoot with a creative team I believed in and was excited to collaborate with.
When my agent received an unapologetic email concluding they would not run my cover/story because it ?did not reflect well on my talent? and ?did not fit their market,? the publisher claimed my look deviated from my portfolio and that I did not fit into the (sample size) samples, which is completely false. If anyone has any interest in me, they know I am not an average model body – I have an athletic build and healthy curves.
[From Instagram via People]
She went on to write that she has very bad social anxiety and that she took a year off from model while dealing with that and the unrealistic body standards in her industry. This was her first experience trying to work again after her time off. She wrote that she varies from a size 4 to a 6 and that “I am not built as a runway model and have never been stick thin.”
Nina was on the Megyn Kelly show yesterday to talk about this. You can see her interview below. I was really impressed with her actually, she explained the situation clearly and convincingly. They revealed that Venice Magazine (which I’ve never heard of) was the publication which denied her cover. Venice Mag issued a statement claiming that the issue was about the quality of the photos, however Nina quickly shot that down. Megyn had a copy of the email that Venice mag sent Nina, which read “We would love to revisit the possibility of a printed cover when she is back in top shape.”
Here’s Venice’s statement, which would be convincing on its own but again Nina has the receipts.
We think Nina Agdal is a beautiful and extremely talented model. That is why she was the focus of a ten-page story published in our Winter issue… Regarding the cover, while the images from the shoot were lovely, they did not yield one that we felt worked as the print cover. To clarify our choice, it had nothing to do with how Ms. Agdal looks in a bathing suit – her physique is enviable by any criteria.
We wished to use an image from that shoot for our digital cover (the cover promoted on our website) but her agent declined. Further, when we made the decision to run the feature without the cover, we suggested doing another story with a possible cover for 2018 where Nina would be both model and subject, giving her a platform to discuss her experience, interests and the causes that she champions. This was communicated to her agent in writing.
[From Venice Mag via Today video]
Nina countered that “There is physical proof in an email them saying that I look deviated [sic] from my portfolio, that I did not fit into the sample sizes, that I basically look too big” and again Megyn read the email from Venice Mag which belies their statement. Megyn got all indignant about it, and so did Nina understandably. Nina said that women can’t relate to these very small models and that the sample sizes are tailored to be even smaller than size zero. She knows models who are a size 2 who are told to lose weight for jobs.
While I don’t have a lot of sympathy for Nina personally, I came away from her interview championing her cause. She’s athletic and enviably fit and yet she’s getting pushback for that. She has the kind of figure I would like to see regularly in ads. She told Megyn that when this happened to her she “felt personally attacked. I was like, ‘You know what? I can’t take this anymore. I got to stand up for all the girls and women out there.’ I can’t be a part of this big lie and this perception game that’s going on. I’m just not going to participate in that anymore.” She made the point that these unrealistic body standards are “everywhere” and in every magazine.
Here’s Nina’s interview. At 4:02 they show the original photo and the retouched photo. Nina also confirmed that she’s dating Jack Cook, Christie Brinkley’s son, and said that Christie is supportive of her. Megyn is ridiculous throughout this interview and in general, but again I’m on board with Nina’s message.
Obviously having the worst time ever x 2
