My new favorite thing in the comments is when people accuse me of being ?anti-DC Comics? and too ?pro-Marvel.? Honestly, I couldn?t care less about either comics house. My general emotion/feeling is one of anxiety, actually. I have a feeling of anxiety for Hollywood, simply because I think studios are putting all of their eggs into the superhero-franchise basket, and that model simply cannot be sustainable long-term. At some point, people will lose interest. I think. Maybe I?m wrong. Maybe we need ten more iterations of Batman?s origin story (oh, his parents were killed in front of him, how shocking). Maybe we need to see Tony Stark quip and punch his way through every obstacle ten more times.
I also take issue with both Marvel and DC for their historic lack of interest in even paying lip service to their female fans and their female characters. But after years of criticism, at least someone, somewhere has been trying to make some tweaks and changes to make their franchises a little bit better and female-friendly. Marvel has been praised for their ?feminist neo-noir? Jessica Jones (a Netflix series) as well as their Agent Carter series. Marvel has also been making some interesting casting choices for their film franchises in the past year, like hiring Tilda Swinton and Rachel McAdams for Doctor Strange. And now this ? Marvel is in talks with Cate Blanchett for a part in Thor: Ragnarok. A two-time Oscar winner starring alongside Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and more? Huh.
Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett may soon be joining the Marvel universe. Sources tell Variety Blanchett is in talks to play one of the new female leads in Marvel?s ?Thor: Ragnarok.? Marvel had no comment. Blanchett, having just received SAG and Golden Globe nominations for ?Carol,? would be making her first major comic book role in ?Ragnarok.?
Taika Waiti in on board to direct the third ?Thor? film with Chris Hemsworth returning to play the Norse God. Stephany Folsom recently polished the script. Blanchett?s character in the superhero sequel isn?t known. ?Ragnarok,? produced by Kevin Feige, will also feature Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and the villainous Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki in ?The Avengers? universe. ?Thor: Ragnarok? hits theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
Blanchett is no stranger to the fanboy universe, having appeared in multiple ?Lord of the Rings? and ?Hobbit? films for Peter Jackson.

To me, Cate?s potential inclusion in the Thor franchise is very much like adding Tilda Swinton to the cast of Doctor Strange. Meaning, I think it?s a good play for everyone involved. Cate (like Tilda) has an other-worldly quality that enables her to play queens, aliens, goddesses, fairies and whatever else you want to throw at her. She?ll be able to fit into the Thor world pretty well, I?m assuming. Plus, this is a woman with three adolescent/tween sons, the core audience for many Marvel films. She probably wants to make a movie that her sons would and could see. I hope Cate gets scenes with Hiddles.

Since CB usually covers Norman Reedus and since I don?t watch The Walking Dead, I really don?t know much about Reedus as a person. Turns out that he?s a vampire (he?s 45 years old!) and he had a 21-year-old girlfriend last year, model Cecilia Singley, although CB thinks they quietly broke up. Meanwhile, Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson seem to have weathered a year full of breakup rumors and they?ve come out the stronger for it. But the NYDN is here to stir the pot. Apparently, some witnesses swear up and down that they saw Reedus and Kruger making out in the East Village last Friday. Huh.
Here’s some irony. Diane Kruger appears to be cheating on Joshua Jackson, a star of “The Affair” ? with Norman Reedus of “The Walking Dead.” Multiple sources tell Confidenti@l that Kruger and Reedus were spotted wildly making out in an East Village dive bar on Friday night. We’re told the pair ? who co-starred, along with Jackson, in this year’s movie “Sky” ? showed up at 12th Street Alehouse around 1:30 a.m. We’re told they ordered a vodka for her and a whisky for him and retreated to the very furthest table in the bar’s back room.
“They were laughing and having fun and then she just literally got out of her chair and straddled him and we were all like, ‘what the hell,’” said one stunned onlooker. “They were all over each other. She was a lot more aggressive than him.”
Another eyewitness said, “they were making out on top of each other, holding hands.”
Her long-term boyfriend, meanwhile, was on a beach on the other side of the world. The “Dawson’s Creek” hunk ? who plays Cole Lockhart in Showtime hit “The Affair” ? posted an Instagram shot on Friday of an idyllic beach in Manila captioned, “Home sweet home for the next couple days.” Jackson, conveniently for the hot and heavy Kruger and Reedus, is on a 21-day trip around the world.
A rep for Reedus denied that Reedus and Kruger were making out. A rep for Kruger declined to comment. A rep for Jackson did not respond to our request for comment.

This is a puzzler. The NYDN has good sources, and while their gossip people are pretty tabloidy, they?re not known for making stuff up completely. They generally have good sources and their gossip stories have some basis in reality. What I?m saying is that I?m predisposed to think that something is there. My first thought was maybe Reedus was making out with a different blonde and witnesses just thought it was Diane Kruger? I?m just saying, Norman Reedus wouldn?t be mistaken for another person, but Diane Kruger?s look ? petite blonde with delicate features ? is all over the place. Or, hey, maybe it?s true. Maybe Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus are hittin? it. Hm?

The lob has been very popular with celebrities this year, but I’m somewhat tired of seeing famous women cut a couple of inches off their ends and/or remove their extensions and act like it’s a big change. It is for them, and I get the attachment to hair as I still have my long security blanket hair, but it still looks like long hair and it still frames their face the same way. So I have higher hair standards for celebrities than I set for myself (I would be freaking out if I cut my hair more than two inches, kudos to Kaiser for getting a lob) and that’s why I consider it brave when celebrities cut their hair into radically different, much shorter cuts.
We recently saw Nashville’s Claire Bowen cut her too-long no doubt extension-filled hair into a very short pixie cut that was incredibly flattering. Bowen did this to highlight the issue of body image and childhood cancer, and she shared a touching story about how she survived nephroblastoma as a little girl.
Now Lauren Cohan of The Walking Dead has cut her hair into a gorgeous short pixie cut, as you can see above. Cohan debuted her look at the Z100 Jingle Ball in NY over the weekend. She went from shoulder length hair to this close cropped cut.

As US Weekly points out, many fans are speculating what this means for Cohan’s character, Maggie, who is pregnant on The Walking Dead with Glenn’s baby. Some people assume this means that Maggie is getting killed off this season. Here are some tweets that US posted along with some random ones I found.

Here are some photos from last night?s NYC premiere of Joy, the film that could possibly earn Jennifer Lawrence her fourth Oscar nomination at the age of 25. Last week, J-Law scored a Golden Globe nomination (for lead actress in a Comedy/Musical) but not a SAG nomination. But the nomination shortlists are so scattered this season, I have to think that J-Law is still a major contender for an Oscar nomination when it comes down to it. The Academy loves her, even if critics aren?t in love with this particular film or performance.
For the premiere, Jennifer wore this simple Dior Haute Couture gown. It looks like a dozen other dresses she?s worn before, and while I think she looks pretty, the whole look is sort of a snooze-fest. Even her styling seems kind of blah. Speaking of blah and Dior, Jennifer told E! News that she really wants to go twinsies with Amy Schumer at the Golden Globes ? the BFFs are nominated in the same category (Schumer is nominated for Trainwreck) and J-Law said: ?We’re going to try to figure out to wear the exact same thing. That’s my mission. I really want us to wear the same thing. She’s going to have to wear Dior. I’m just going to have to have Dior make two of whatever they’re making for me.? This will be Schumer?s first time at the Globes, correct? She may want to actually pick her own dress, I?m just sayin?.

Elisabeth?s dress is amazing though. Also: J-Law?s FROSTED EYESHADOW. You can take the girl out of Kentucky, but you can?t take the Kentucky out of the girl.
