I totally blanked on Charlize Theron at the Critics Choice Awards I didn?t even notice what she was wearing, although she was in a lot of cutaway shots. As it turns out, she looked GREAT. This gown is Givenchy and she kind of overdressed for the CCAs, but why not, especially if the dress is so good? Mostly, I?m just relieved to see her in something other than Dior. She should mix it up more often. My least favorite thing? The eye makeup is terrible.
Amy Adams in Zac Posen this actually looked beautiful in motion, but it doesn?t photograph that well? It looks so flat. But it was actually a great color and the dress had an interesting sleeve, and she looked amazing in it.
Julia Roberts? Louis Vuitton look is so bad, I?m actually laughing. The half-Capri pants, the mullet skirt, the flat-ironed hair? what is going on with her? I feel like she lost some weight and got a little nip-tuck and now she?s trying to dress differently. She?s never been a fashion girl, but this is just weird.
Rachel Brosnahan in Carolina Herrera. I feel like this was the kind of vibe Julia wanted to have but it fell flat. Rachel looks amazing though.
Issa Rae in Alitte by Jason Rembert. This is a lot of look for the Critics Choice Awards, you know? It?s also got a lingerie feel which? doesn?t fit the event.

I recently read a Twitter thread about the differences between Generation X, Xennials and Millennials, and now I?m thinking about it with regards to Angelina Jolie. Angelina has always been rather low-tech, hasn?t she? Angelina is Gen-X, but so many of her references feel so ?70s. She prefers a less modern approach to life. She has a iPhone of course, but I bet she still calls people on her landline. She still shops in malls, which few people do at this point, and she encourages her kids to do crafts. I bet she has a typewriter.
Anyway, these are some photos of Angelina making yet another trip to a mall. She took Knox, Zahara and an assistant-type to the Century City Westfield Mall over the weekend. She looked like any other mom, I guess. Black slacks, black boots, black coat and a simple white blouse. Zahara is such a fashionista, right? So fashion-forward. I wish Zahara would really start styling her mom.
I?ve missed seeing Angelina during the awards season, but I wonder if she?ll come out for the Oscars, as a presenter? She doesn?t have anything immediate to promote, and Brad Pitt actually produced two of the films which are likely to get some Oscar nominations (If Beale Street Could Talk and Beautiful Boy). I?d say that Brad is more likely to make a surprise appearance at the hostless Oscars, especially since he?s been doing some low-key campaigning for the films he?s produced, but you never know. I could also see Angelina stopping by.

I?ve been low-key watching the course-correction for Emily Blunt?s Oscar campaign over the past month. I?m not even sure that Disney believed in Blunt?s performance in Mary Poppins Returns to really put some money and effort behind her, at least for awards. Disney obviously wanted the film to do well financially, but I get the feeling there were people at Disney who were sort of surprised that Emily got nominated for anything. There?s just a feeling of Emily going ?oh, you mean I have to attend all of these awards shows? I guess I?ll get some dresses last-minute.? This Prada gown feels like something she chose because she only realized on Saturday that she?d have to go to the Critics Choice. Kind of boring, and not really her style.
Emmy Rossum?s Ralph Lauren look appeals to me because it?s SO ?90s. The thick velvet, the pale skin, the too-tight hair, the dark lipstick, the choker necklace. I thought this was the height of sophistication in 1995. The dress itself is great I love velvet, even though this feels a bit Christmas-y. I think her styling could use some help though.
Sandra Oh in Prabal Gurung the simple dress was overshadowed by Sandra?s big hair. My hair looks like this when I go to sleep with wet hair, but my hair can?t keep a curl to save its life. So I?m jealous that Sandra gets to experiment with wild, curly hair, even if it doesn?t look great.
Laura Harrier in Louis Vuitton very pretty, simple, not crazy. I?m shocked this is LV, honestly.
I feel like so many people forget that one year ago, Allison Janney was doing the rounds as part of her ultimately successful Oscar campaign. Chica has an Oscar! No one remembers that. So she?s making the rounds this year as a victory lap. She wore this Alberta Ferretti jumpsuit thing which? looks comfortable and cool.

Life is nothing more than a Nicole Kidman Awards Season. Kidman Awards Seasons are forever they are always happening, and she is always enjoying herself. Nicole had about 23 films out in 2018, and so she?s being nominated here and there for various performances. So every single weekend, Nicole attends like five different events. Not every look is going to be a winner. While Nicole was on-trend for the night (so many black-and-white dresses, my God), this Armani was just kind ofmeh. I like that she went structural, but it still wasn?t that interesting. Her hair was a mess too.
Claire Foy in Balmain she won some special award for all of her work in TV and film, and she seemed slightly embarrassed to be there. I like that she just kept it simple with this jumpsuit ensemble.
I appreciate that there are several actors who are mixing it up sartorially this awards season. Timothee Chalamet is one, and Rami Malek is another. Rami isn?t just doing the standard dark-suits for low-key awards shows. Now, he?s showing off his dandy side. I like this pale Givenchy suit on him, but I think it might have looked better with a regular tie, rather than the bow tie.
I?m so glad Rami?s girlfriend and costar Lucy Boynton saved money by recycling her grandma?s shower curtain. This dress is Gucci. At least she stood out in the sea of black-and-white dresses, I guess.
Elizabeth Olsen in a velvet Alexandre Vauthier cocktail dress- I was surprised we didn?t see more short cocktail dresses at the Critics Choice, and this is a good one. It?s simple and I hope she gets to keep it, because she can wear it to anything. The problem here is her hair some women can pull off the bangs and fringe, and some can?t.
