Flying into the east coast the previous night, Kevin Costner was among the stars in attendance for the funeral of recently departed singer/actress Whitney Houston.
With the proceedings taking place at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday (February 18), the "Dances with Wolves" actor took to the podium to offer up words in remembrance oh his former "Bodyguard" co-star.
Reminiscing about having asked Houston to join him as a castmate in "The Bodyguard," Costner said he ?was reminded that this would be her first acting role. You could also think about another singer, was the suggestion ? maybe somebody white. Nobody ever said it out loud, but it was a fair question. [I] then told everyone that I had taken notice that Whitney was black. The only problem was I thought she was perfect for what we were trying to do.?
?Whitney, if you could hear me now, I would tell you, you weren?t just good enough, you were great,? Kevin added during his closing remarks. ?You sang the whole damn song without a band. You made the picture what it was. A lot of leading men could?ve played my part ? but you, Whitney, I truely believe you were the only one who could?ve played Rachel Marron at that time. You weren?t just pretty, you were as beautiful as a woman could be. And people didn?t just like you Whitney, they loved you.?

Ready to see where the day takes her, Rihanna and her entourage were spotted checking out of a London, England hotel early this morning (February 18).
Echoing the 80s with her rockin' ensemble, the "Talk That Talk" hitmaker donned a backwards ball cap, over-sized black leather jacket, midriff-baring t-shirt and black and white print pants as she went on her way.
And it looks like RiRi's clothing choices aren't the only thing that has people talking - as reports claim the singer has tapped ex-boyfriend Chris Brown for an extended version of "Birthday Cake."
Rihanna and Brown allegedly met up in the recording studio to work on the track together. The rumored collaboration coems just three years after Brown was charged with assualting the star on the even of the Grammy Awards.

Making certain that she's able to keep in touch with her inner circle, Lindsay Lohan closed out the week with a mobile phone shopping excursion in Beverly Hills, CA on Friday (February 17).
The "Georgia Rule" starlet was dressed conservatively in a yellow top, black jacket and jeans while toting her Luxe Ralph Lauren 'Crocodile Ricky' handbag and newly purchased cell out of the local T-Mobile store.
The outing comes amidst rumblings that Miss Lohan may soon be approached once more by Playboy for a follow-up to her hit spread for the men's magazine.
Hollie McKay of FOX Pop Tarts spoke with founder Hugh Hefner at a pre-Grammy party, with the Playboy mogul calling LiLo's recent cover issue "huge" while adding that the 25-year-old will ?quite possibly? do another shoot.

Ringing in the weekend with a west coast beach adventure, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez took to the Malibu oceanfront for a fun-filled day together on Friday (February 17).
After grabbing a bite to eat at Paradise Cove, the young lovebirds were also joined by the "Baby" hitmaker's family as they both tended to the little ones by playing in the sand and wading in the Pacific.
The beach playdate comes just after both Justin and Selena were named among the esteemed nominees for the upcoming 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
With the winners to be crowned on March 31st, Miss Gomez is in the running for Favorite TV Actress while Bieber is vying for the Favorite Male Singer prize.

Stepping out for a fashionable evening in the UK, Victoria Beckham popped into Harvey Nichols in London on Friday (February 17) to toast the launch of her new clothing range at the Knightsbridge store.
The former Spice Girls singer donned a foxy LBD as she posed for the awaiting media in front of an extremely large crowd that had gathered around to catch a glimpse of the happenings.
The appearance comes just after Posh was named as the ambassador of British fashion - with duties of the role requiring her to take part in VisitBritain's "Great" campaign while shooting a short film called "Fashion is Great".
Of the campaign spearheaded by Victoria, Prime Minister David Cameron told local press, "British fashion is a hugely important global industry and our designers have the talent, creativity and skills to rival anywhere in the world. Contributing over 20GBP billion to the British economy each year, our industry inspires. Fashion is a truly great British success story."
Meanwhile, British ambassador to the U.S., Sir Peter Westmacott, added, "As the U.K. gears up for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, there's no better time to celebrate the best that Britain has to offer."
