Anne Hathaway comes in as Katie Holmes at 2:20
On her SNL guest host gig about three weeks ago, Anne Hathaway did an amusing impersonation of Katie Holmes. Anne affected a soft voice and curled half her mouth up in a skit playing Holmes on a talk show hosted by “Miley Cyrus.” Anne later explained that she was a “big fan” and was channeling Holmes circa Dawson’s Creek in the late 90s. The impersonation was pretty accurate for how Holmes talks out of the side of her mouth in breathy superlatives and it didn’t seem like a tribute to Holmes’ Dawson’s era. If anything Holmes was bubblier and more outspoken when she was younger. (Here’s a recent interview with Holmes and here’s an interview with her in 1999. She’s spacier now and the mouth curl thing is more pronounced.)
According to the National Enquirer, Holmes saw that impersonation and is furious at Hathaway for mocking her. This might be made up, but it’s still funny enough to repeat. Katie is allegedly planning to turn the tables and mock Anne on Saturday Night Live, if they ever let her host again.
“Katie is feeling really hurt and less than thrilled about Anne,” according to an insider.
In an effort to make sure there are no hard feelings, Anne offered an explanation of her hilarious send up of Katie, who got her first big break on the TV series “Dawson’s Creek.”
Anne, 28, told a reporter: “I was a teenager when ‘Dawson’s Creek’ was airing. And I was a pretty avid fan, so it just sort of came from that. It wasn’t really Katie Holmes; it was more [her Dawson's character] Joey Potter.”
But Katie, 32, isn’t buying it, insiders say.
“Katie says she can take a joke but she thinks Anne’s backpedaling is ridiculous and insincere,” confided a pal close to the “Batman Begins” actress. “She and Anne have auditioned for some of the same roles, so there’s always been competition between them.”
Now, Katie and her hubby Tom Cruise, who’s terrific at impersonations, have cooked up a plan to get revenge against Anne…
“With Tom’s help, Katie has come up with a pretty dead-on impersonation of Anne,” the source divulged. “Katie has hosted ‘SNL’ in the past, and she can’t wait to reveal it on the air.”

You know that Holmes is really jealous of the fact that Hathaway has a great career and a lot of opportunities while she’s stuck doing miniseries and spending her time blowing her husband’s cash at Barneys and planning designer outfits for her four year-old. She should take a look at Nicole Kidman’s career and realize that Tom Cruise, with all his wealth and connections, only brings his wives down. Then again, it’s not like she’s supremely talented. She did that Pieces of April movie and I guess she was OK in The Romantics but I doubt we’d be hearing so much about her if she didn’t marry Cruise. If she was still with what’s his drunken douche face she wouldn’t even be fodder for mocking on SNL.

Fresh off of promoting her new movie "Love and Other Drugs," Anne Hathaway made the long trip to Oslo, Norway for the Nobel Peace Prize concert on Saturday (December 11).
Joining fellow actor Denzel Washington, the pair began the day by tending to a press conference before getting dressed up for stage co-hosting duties later in the evening.
During the festivities, artists from all over the world gathered at the Oslo Spektrum to celebrate this year's Nobel Peace Prize recipient - as the honor was symbolically awarded to jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo.
Xiaobo is one year into an 11-year sentence handed down unto him for "inciting subversion" stemming from his charter calling for a change to democracy in his homeland of China.
Aside from Hathaway and Washington acting as hosts, performers at the concert included India.Arie, Colbie Caillat, Barry Manilow, Herbie Hancock and Robyn.

Yesterday, I covered some newish photos of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway in Australia, doing a photo call and promoting Love & Other Drugs. Hathaway was wearing a really fug Christopher Kane ice-skater?s onesie that sparkled magically in the heterosexual gleam of Jake?s eye. It was tacky. So I?m glad to see that Anne was greatly improved for the Australian premiere - Anne is wearing Oscar de la Renta (Spring 2011). Jake is in Burberry, although I think he?s worn this same suit for every formal event in the past month.
Anne has been doing some bridal styles for this promotional round, and I have to admit, this de la Renta might be my favorite. Is it kind of bridesmaid-y? Sure. But I don?t even think that?s the fault of the dress - Anne just seems to have bridesmaid style, in general. But I think the mod silhouette really works in Anne?s favor - she doesn?t look ?too old? or ?too much? like she sometimes tends to.

Since today is looking super-slow, I get the feeling that I?m going to be writing a lot of fashion posts, even about random photo calls. These are new photos of Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal in Australia? today? Yesterday? Tomorrow? I?m an idiot, granted, but the International Date Line still confuses me. I think this is ?today?. Anne is in Christopher Kane? and I hate it. It looks like a budget ice dancer?s dress. Plus, it?s much too ?sparkly? for daywear - especially given that Jake Gyllenhaal is only in a Canadian tuxedo. He looks like he?s trying to butch it up (although his denim looks neatly pressed and rather fussy), while Anne looks like she?s trying too hard to be all sparkly and Taylor Swifty.
As far the film goes, Love & Other Drugs isn?t quite a hit, but it?s not really sinking without a trace either. It?s made $22 million in two weeks - nowhere near Julia Roberts territory, but my guess is that it will become a word-of-mouth go-see chick flick. What?s the problem with these two? Granted, Anne has had some true hits and acclaim to her name, but Jake hasn?t really. He hasn?t been in a hit film - where the film rests on his performance - in years. And don?t say Prince of Persia. Please. That movie barely made back it?s production cost. So here?s the question: do audiences just not buy Jake as a leading man?

She?s no stranger to magazine covers, and Anne Hathaway graces the front of the December 2010 issue of Gotham.
The ?Princess Diaries? babe looks fabulous in the photo spread, thanks in part to being styled by the lovely Rachel Zoe.
In the interview, Anne chats about her chemistry with Jake Gyllenhaal while working on ?Love and Other Drugs.?
?If you don?t have chemistry with Jake Gyllenhaal, then there?s probably something wrong with you, because he is the most insanely charismatic man. All you have to do is listen to him and you?re instantly charmed.?
As for her hopes for future roles, Miss Hathaway shared, ?Pretty much all of Ibsen. Most Shakespeare. Most of the roles I?d love to play are in the theater. In terms of my career, I would like to kill an alien at some point. I would like to drive a spaceship and maybe be a spy. I?d like to kick a little a?.?

Although nothing has been confirmed, it is being reported that Anne Hathaway and James Franco have been selected to host the annual Academy Awards.
According to Deadline, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has asked the ?Devils Wears Prada? actress and the ?127 Hours? hunk to take the stage - adding that they are most likely going to take the offer.
Both Hollywood stars are nominated for an Oscar this year with Hathaway up for Best Actress for ?Love and Other Drugs? and Franco up for Best Actor for his performance in ?127 Hours.?
A decision such as hosting the Academy Awards is made by committee with a star's agent, publicist, manager and even the studio weighing all the pros and cons before coming to agreement.

Having wrapped up her hosting efforts, Anne Hathaway was spotted heading to the SNL afterparty in New York City on Saturday night (November 20).
The "Love and Other Drugs" actress was escorted by security personnel as she joined "Saturday Night Live" cast members for drinks and conversation following the show's taping.
During her SNL appearance, Miss Hathaway took on numerous roles, as she kicked off the first sketch by portraying actress Katie Holmes while Vanessa Bayer once again offered up her take on Miley Cyrus.
Among the other highlights, Anne offered up her best Judy Garland impersonation in "lost scenes" from The Wizard of Oz along with partaking in a sketch in which she played Prince Williams' fianc, Kate Middleton, during a behind the scenes meet-up with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip.

Stepping out for a cultured night on the town, Anne Hathaway was among the stars partaking in the American Museum of Natural History's 2010 Museum Gala in New York City on Thursday (November 18).
Held at the American Museum of Natural History, the "Princess Diaries" actress joined a guest list including Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Meg Ryan, Steve Martin, Jimmy Fallon Kristen Wiig, Abby Elliott and Alec Baldwin, among others.
Always keeping a busy schedule, it was recently announced that Miss Hathaway will be teaming up with actor Denzel Washington to co-host the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway.
Taking place on December 11, the event honors Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo while boasting performances by Elvis Costello, Jamiroquai, Barry Manilow and Herbie Hancock.

The only reason anyone’s gonna see “Love and Other Drugs” is the gratuitous Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway nudity, so Twentieth Century Fox is definitely going about the marketing the right way: lots more gratuitous Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway nudity. See Exhibits A, B, and C on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. They say in the interview (via NY Daily News):
Hathaway “totally fell apart” when she and Gyllenhaal were expected to strip down the first time, so “Love and Other Drugs” director Edward Zwick shucked his clothes and climbed into bed with both actors on set to lighten the mood.
And looks like it worked, because on this week’s cover of Entertainment Weekly, the pair yuck it up in their birthday suits.
Finally, a way to deal with social discomfort that I can fully embrace — nudity! Is there anything that peeling off my clothes and crawling into bed with my co-workers won’t cure? Except for the genital warts, I mean. I figure that one really went without saying.

They?re pulling out all the stops to promote their new movie ?Love & Other Drugs? and Jake Gyllenhaal nad Anne Hathaway even got down to their birthday suits for one magazine cover.
The ?Brokeback Mountain? stud and the ?Get Smart? gal stripped down for the front of Entertainment Weekly.
And in a recent interview, Jake explained that the magazine shoot was junior varsity compared to what happens in the movie.
"We only do a little hugging on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, but we do a little bit more in the movie... it was a great photoshoot. It brought us back to last year when we were actually naked much more often together."
Anne added, "We were so excited that EW was singling us out... for a magazine like EW to give us any kind of attention, it was really thrilling."
