Here are some photos of Sarah Jessica Parker at last night?s Harry Potter premiere. SJP brought her husband, Matthew Broderick, who looks comically, cartoonishly depressed, and her son James, who is a cutie. SJP wore this Oscar de la Renta Resort 2012 dress that I? well, I don?t hate it. I don?t really love it, either. It looks like a decent summery dress, but I don?t get why SJP paired it with a structured blazer. It?s not her worst red carpet appearance, though.
Meanwhile, SJP is the cover girl for the August issue of Vogue, ?The Age Issue?, likely to promote her new film, I Don?t Know How She Does It (which looks like it sucks). Here are some highlights from the Vogue interview, courtesy of Wonderwall:
SJP on her juggling: Between raising three children, working for Halston and keeping a healthy onscreen career, the actress says her life these days is “like a ship avoiding icebergs.”
On the end of “Sex and the City”: “I loved it. But ultimately chose to stop doing the television series because I felt like it required, and deserved, a lot of time when I really wanted to be a parent.”
On starting new jobs: “I lose my appetite. By Wednesday of the first week on ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It,’ I was feeling so awful and ashamed, like I had let the director down.”
On being an older mother: “There are things about it that I hope have made me a better mother. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to do the things that I wanted to do, like sleep.”
On acting in her 40s: “I assumed that at this point in my life I would be feeling frustrated, left behind, or marginalized, playing parts I was reluctant to. But I’ve been so busy, I’m not sure that I see this fallow period yet.”
On comparing herself to Carrie Bradshaw: “Bradshaw’s life is nothing, nothing like mine. I loved playing her, and it changed my life in lots of wonderful ways, but I’m not a crazy shoe lady. I don’t think about fashion all day long, although I have a great respect for the industry.”
On her work ethic: “It’s kind of all I’ve known. I’m a bitter-ender. It’s potentially my fatal flaw that I do not give up on something. I will not rest. I work and work and work until I can no longer and someone has to remove me from the premises.”

I?m prepared to like Sarah Jessica Parker until she starts in about her career choices, all of the stuff she?s signed on to do, and then talks about how she?s the super-focused parent. I absolutely HATED her in her last Vogue interview, last year, when she kept pushing the issue of how involved she was as a parent - while she sat in London, after not seeing her newborn twin girls for two months while she traveled to make Sex & the City 2. She just bugs.

| Sarah Jessica Parker won't admit that she complained about jury duty | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m not sure if anyone else will be interested in this, but it amused me. Page Six has a story about Sarah Jessica Parker turning up for jury duty, just like Carrie did in that Sex & the City episode. But instead of spending her jury duty time reading or writing a column, the real SJP chose to complain loudly (according to eyewitnesses) about how she was simply too busy to do her civic duty. Just for the record - I?ve never been called up for jury duty (I think my foreign-sounding name must immediately disqualify me here in the sweaty armpit of the South), but if I was called up, I would have no problems complaining loudly and trying to get out of it too. What I?m finding amusing about this SJP story is that she used two different contradictory excuses for why she shouldn?t be on a jury (her kid was sick AND she had somewhere else to be on business), and SJP spoke to the NY Post directly to try to brighten up her image:
She had her excuses as ready as a pair of Manolos. Sarah Jessica Parker got called for jury duty yesterday, but didn’t appear eager to serve. The Post overheard the “Sex and the City” star griping to another prospective panelist about the better things she had to do than cool her heels in Manhattan federal court.
“My daughter is at home sick,” said the actress, who has three children with actor-hubby Matthew Broderick. Parker, 46, also noted that she had an “international flight” tomorrow and fretted aloud that the fraud case being tried might last more than two days.
She then flipped out at a reporter and photographer outside the courthouse during a break, screaming, “Leave me alone!”
As it turned out, the jury box got filled before Parker was summoned for questioning, and she was discharged after being sent back down to the central jury room. In a phone interview afterward with The Post’s Bruce Golding, Parker denied having travel plans tomorrow and insisted she had been “ready, willing and able to serve.”
She confirmed that one of her twin daughters was home with a fever, but said she had hired a sitter to take care of the tot while she took the subway to court, arriving early at 8:40 a.m. And while other panelists offered an array of flimsy reasons why they couldn’t do their duty, Parker said, “I never once raised my hand. I don’t shirk any of my civic responsibilities.
[From Page Six]
Is this blown out of proportion? Probably. I don?t think anyone would blame SJP for griping about jury duty to anyone who would listen, just because everyone there probably wanted to gripe about it, as is our right. But I think it?s funny that SJP had to give an interview about it afterwards and deny that she was complaining. Seriously, SJP, we can handle it.

| Sarah Jessica Parker's latest movie: just like 'sATC' only she's Miranda' | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I read Gawker?s summary of Sarah Jessica Parker?s new movie I Don?t Know How She Does It before I watched the first trailer. So I went into it thinking ?Wait, she?s Carrie with Miranda flair?? It?s best to just watch the trailer and then you?ll understand:
You see what it is? It?s Sex and the City with SJP playing the Miranda character, and Miranda gets the lead, only instead of Cynthia Nixon?s superior acting (she was the best actress out of all of them), we get SJP?s forced girlishness and ?OMG, HOW AM I GOING TO DO IT ALL?!?? spastic act. You know how the real SJP does it all? She leaves her newborn babies in New York and flies to Morocco and Europe for two months. That?s SJP-style.
If this is Sex and the City with kids, though, who are the other characters? I want to say Seth Meyers is playing Samantha. Right? I would love to see Seth?s take on Samantha. In reality, Pierce Brosnan is probably playing Samantha or Mr. Big (as Gawker suggests). Christina Hendricks or Olivia Munn are probably the child-free ?Carries?. Where?s Charlotte? Is Kelsey Grammer playing Charlotte? No, I think Greg Kinnear is Charlotte. Which means that Charlotte is Miranda?s wife.
As for the subject matter? I mean, yeah, I guess it?s interesting to see SJP play what she is: a working mother who struggles to balance work, family and personal commitments. It?s interesting to see that represented on film. But it still feels like they?re going to be glossing over some of the real struggles that millions of working mothers face. And the clothes look great, of course.

| Sarah Jessica Parker in Cannes, in Elie Saab: much better or still rough? | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sarah Jessica Parker arrived at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday, and she had a lot of duties. She?s trying to promote her film I Don?t Know How She Does It, which doesn?t come out for months and months. She was also there to be ?the American celebrity? at the premiere of a Chinese detective film Wu Xia (which will be called Dragon in America). I think her real reason for showing up at the festival was to show off this Elie Saab dress. It?s certainly unique, isn?t it? I?m not saying that in a crude ?It?s so ugly, I?ll just call it ?unique?? kind of way. This Elie Saab is a great improvement over that tacky, FUBAR Valentino from the other day. While I think this dress has faults - that black lace/netting junk at the too-high neckline, waist and wrists, for one - I appreciate that SJP went for something different. Hey, at least it?s not Marchesa.
The fabric - the patterned silk georgette - of the body of the gown is rather beautiful. I would like to see that fabric used for a sleeveless, long, full-skirted sundress/gown. It would be more appropriate for Cannes, and it would just be prettier overall. Technically, this gown is from Elie Saab?s Autumn/Winter collection, though, which is why it?s long-sleeved.
For another event, SJP stepped out in a doily. The actual dress wasn?t so bad (kind of Miss Havisham, but it?s okay), but then she wrapped a doily around herself. And then there?s the problem with the pearls?hh, SJP. Crazy woman.

Stopping for pictures along the way, Sarah Jessica Parker made a grand arrival to the Hotel Carlton Pier in Cannes, France earlier today (May 14).
The always-stylish "Sex and the City" star was prettied up per the usual while sporting an effortlessly classic look, wearing large pearl earrings, black vest, and long blue and black skirt.
Just last night (May 13), Sarah turned heads as she hit the red carpet for day three of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, wearing a flowing, floral print Ellie Saab gown at the "Wu Xia" Premiere.
Later in the evening, Parker took to the stage at The Weinstein Company's soiree, where she presented a five minute peek of "I Don't Know How She Does It," the romantic comedy she recently filmed.

| Sarah Jessica Parker's Valentino: maybe the ugliest thing she's ever worn' | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Call me crazy, but I would take a million ?Big southern/lion hair and Halston? red carpet appearances rather than this fugness. These are photos of Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick at the NYC Ballet Spring Gala last night. SJP can get Matthew to the ballet, but never to a fashion or charity gala. Or a premiere. But ballet, sure! Nevermind, don?t go there, of course they have a strong marriage, why would you think otherwise? Don?t they look? um, happy together?
Anyway, in my mind, SJP?s style reflects her mood. She wore this absolutely God-awful Valentino for the NYC Ballet event, and now I think that Mr. Valentino must totally hate her. Why would a designer even MAKE this ugly dress, much less give it to one of his best clients? SJP knows it sucks too - trust me, SJP knows how to work a gown, and she knows how to ensure a gown is photographed to make it look amazing, and look at what she?s doing with her styling and body language. She draped a purse across her chest, her hair is meh, and she?s got a look on her face that says ?I wish I had lion hair and I was flying solo.?
Also looking rough? Brooke Shields. I know the whole ?flower boob? thing is in style right now, but this is the wrong way to do it.
Oh, and in case you were interested, here?s how Betsy Johnson and her date showed up to the ballet:

| Sarah Jessica Parker attempts massive Southern hair: does she pull it off? | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The fashion and style sites are making a big deal about this ?new trend? - big, Southern hair. It?s a trend I embrace on women like Reese Witherspoon and my mother. It just works on Southern ladies. On non-Southern ladies, it?s kind of a disaster. Take Sarah Jessica Parker, who in these photos is arriving for a benefit for The Robin Hood Foundation (an excellent foundation). SJP decided to wear this lovely purple dress (I?m assuming that it?s Halston, since SJP is the creative director there), and she styled herself with this massive Dynasty hair. I think? um? odd.
Gisele Bundchen was at the fundraiser too - she wore this equally odd, half-sheer dress. You put this on a woman with a slightly larger bust, and she would look tacky and trashy. On Gisele, it kind of works. I hate when her hair is slicked back, though. She looks like a Disney villainess.
And here?s Mariska Hargitay, phoning it in, style-wise. She looks okay, but it?s nothing ground-breaking.

| Sarah Jessica Parker in McQueen at the Met Gala: Streisand-esque? | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Like Gisele, Sarah Jessica Parker also decided to posthumously honor Alexander McQueen by wearing one of his more conservative dresses. Now? I don?t hate the dress in it?s entirety. I actually think SJP looks very put-together with the dress, the great makeup (I love her eye makeup in particular), the high fashion hair, and the blue shoes which ?pop?. But there?s something ?off? about the look too. I think maybe it?s the high collar on the dress?? The high collar makes it seem like SJP is wearing an old-school, Hollywood costume rather than a near-vintage McQueen ensemble. But perhaps that is the fault of McQueen, and not SJP, who just wanted to wear something special from her friend Lee. So, in the end, I can?t hate on this ensemble. She looks put-together, age-appropriate and rather lovely, although a bit conservative and dated.
Also? is anyone else seeing Barbra Streisand? It?s the hair and the nose, right? I?ve never really seen SJP look so strongly like Streisand.
And yes, Bravo?s Andy Cohen was her date. Matthew Broderick had better things to do, I guess.

Giving herself a well-deserved rest, Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted lounging by the pool at a luxury spa in SoCal on Saturday (April 16).
The ?Sex and the City? actress read Vogue and Rolling Stone magazines with a gal pal while drinking fruity libations and working on her tan.
In real estate news, SJP and her husband Matthew Broderick have finally settled on a new home to purchase.
The power couple selected a townhouse on East 10th Street that has set them back $18.995 million, including five bedrooms, seven fireplaces, and a beefy security system.

Spending her special day with the little ones, Sarah Jessica Parker enjoyed a 46th birthday stroll with twins Marion and Tabitha in New York City on Friday (March 25).
The "Sex and the City" actress dutifully tended to her 21-month old daughters as the trio and a nanny visited Dean and Deluca and LifeThyme to do a little shopping before returning to their Greenwich Village home.
Known for her fabulous fashion, SJP was clad in a puffy fur-lined jacket with beige pants and UGG boots while her adorable gals sported matching jackets to thwart the chilly weather on the east coast.
Still hard at work as she gracefully ages, Sarah has been busy shooting a new book-based comedy titled "I Don't Know How She Does It" - which co-stars "Mad Men" actress Christina Hendricks while due out next year.
