Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have released the names of their newborn twin girls, born Monday afternoon in Ohio. The names: Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge. Um? lovely. No, I?m not being judgy, those are very far from the worst celebrity baby names. I wonder if Marion is going to go my Mary? I wonder if Tabitha will go by Tabby. Maybe I?m warped because I grew up with an extreme cat-fancier mother, but don?t the little girls? names sound like cat names? I can totally see my mom naming her cats Tabitha, Marion and Loretta. SJP and Broderick?s rep says that Elwell and Hodge are family names? which, yes, they would have to be. I can?t see SJP sitting with the baby name book and yelling out ?Elwell! That?s the ticket!?
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have confirmed they welcomed their twins girls, via a surrogate, on Monday.
“Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are delighted to announce the healthy arrival of their two daughters at 3:58 p.m. on June 22 in Ohio,” their rep tells Usmagazine.com in a statement.
“Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weighed 5 lbs., 11 oz., and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 pounds,” the statement continues. “Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker’s side.”
“The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon,” the statement concludes.
News first broke in April that the couple of 12 years were expecting twin girls with the help of a surrogate. Broderick, 47, and Parker, 44, have a son, James Wilkie, 6.

As MSat reported yesterday, SJP and Matthew were in Ohio for the births, so my guess is that they, and the babies, are already on route to New York. SJP is probably going to spend the summer with the babies, then go to work this fall on the Sex and the City sequel. I just checked to see if SJP had any projects lined up for the summer, and it doesn?t look like she does. So at least we know all of those rumored fights about nannies were probably off the mark. I hope both SJP and Matthew stick around and really spend time with the babies. As for seeing the twin girls, I suspect SJP and Broderick will do the same thing they did with James Wilke - they?ll pose publicly for all of the paparazzi, so everyone gets a picture, and then that?s it.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s surrogate reportedly gave birth to twin girls today. According to TMZ
The babies were born this morning at the East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, according to [local radio station] WTRF.
The station is reporting Matthew and Sarah are currently at the hospital with the surrogate, and will make an announcement about the newborns later this afternoon.
I don’t know a lot about animal husbandry, but I do know that horses usually only give birth to one foal at a time, and in the rare case that there are two fetuses, one of them usually doesn’t survive the birthing process. Good thing Sarah Jessica didn’t try to carry the twins to term herself!

It seems like we just found out about “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick’s impending additions to their family through the help of a surrogate mother. The couple had been trying to keep the whole thing private, but it didn’t take long for the tabloids to find out all about the woman who is carrying their twin girls. The surrogate was even the victim of an attempted break-in in which local police collaborated with tabloids. But in spite of all the tabloid frenzy, the announcement of the baby girls’ births has been a bit under the radar. According to TMZ, the babies were delivered early this morning.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s surrogate just took one for the team — or two, actually — by just giving birth to twins.
The babies were born this morning at the East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, according to WTRF.
The station is reporting Matthew and Sarah are currently at the hospital with the surrogate, and will make an announcement about the newborns later this afternoon.

Either that was the shortest gestation period of all time, or the surrogate was pretty far along in the pregnancy by the time Parker and Broderick made the announcement. Either way, I’m sure the couple is thrilled to add two new siblings to their little family. Big Brother James must be so excited! It was a pretty smart move having the surrogate give birth in Ohio as opposed to NYC, where the couple lives. I’m sure the paparazzi would be making a big scene if they could.
Anyone want to venture any guesses on whether or not they’ll sell the baby pictures? My first instinct is they won’t - they didn’t do that with James. Congratulations to everyone- and some major props to the surrogate for a hugely selfless and beautiful act.

WTRF has a classy webpage with scrolling marquees for headlines. For a second, I felt like I was back browsing Geocities pages.
Anyway, WTRF reports that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s surrogate gave birth to twin girls on Monday night. Parker and Broderick are expected to make an announcement before leaving the hospital.
No word on if there were complications during the birth or whether the babies came out as humans or foals. Expect to find out soon. Although, don’t expect to hear any wacky names. Parker and Broderick are boring. They’ll probably name them Jill and Sally. Why can’t celebrities ever pick cool names. If it were me, I’d call them a roman numeral like XXCVC or an unpronounceable word with no vowels like XyyXyWF. I’d like to confuse the hell out of their teachers.

I don?t have a lot of faith in many of the British tabloid weeklies, mainly because they seem even worse than the American celebrity weeklies. There are a couple British gossip sites that I read regularly because they often get good scoops on some of the British celebrities, or visiting American celebrities. But too often the sources are one of the dreaded British weeklies, and I?ve learned to totally avoid the celebrity reports that originate in Look Magazine. That being said, I just couldn?t avoid this story, because I think it might be real. Not that Look (story via Showbiz Spy) actually got a good scoop - I think Look just made a really good guess, in this case.
They?re reporting that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are fighting all the time because SJP wants to hire a full-time nanny to look after the twins they are expecting via surrogacy. This is because SJP will have to go to work on the Sex and the City sequel like two minutes after the babies are born. A stressful film shoot - plus SJP?s likely a producer as well - means 18-hour-plus days, and no time to spend with those new babies SJP was so desperate for:

No judgment to all of the working mothers out there - motherhood on its own is the hardest gig. But I can’t imagine spending 18 hours a day on the set with two newborns being looked after by a nanny. I suspect this story is at least partially true because the babies are due right when SJP begins filming on the SATC sequel. So who will take care of the babies? Why was there such awful scheduling? SJP has known the surrogate?s due date for months, and as producer and star of SATC, she has a major say in the film schedule. Once again, no judgment, but if you?re going to go through all of the surrogacy drama, don?t you want to spend time with those babies? I?m really asking.
In other SJP-is-kind-of-flaky news, Page Six has a story about how she was pulled over by cops in the Hamptons recently. Thank goodness it wasn?t for drunk driving or anything - she was driving at night without her headlights turned on. And her son was in the car. According to Page Six?s source (which sounds like the cop who pulled her over), SJP ?told him it was a brand-new car and she didn’t know how to turn them on. They showed her how and let her go with a warning.? I sometimes forget to turn on my headlights when I?m driving in a well-lit area - but my car has sensors that turn the headlights on automatically if they read any kind of darkness. I tend to think that if it?s a new car, and your kid is with you, you should just pull over to side of road and figure out how to turn on the damn headlights.

Despite likely having some pretty big worries on her mind, Sarah Jessica Parker looked fit and relaxed yesterday while jogging in Manhattan?s West Village. People give her a lot of crap for her appearance because she?s not a classic beauty, but I think a unique look ? and a personality to match ? is worth far more. And Sarah has definitely figured out how to work with her features, even in somewhat unconventional ways.
Last month Sarah Jessica said she was worried about the safety of her surrogate who?s carrying her twin daughters. She told People that the ?surrogate, along with her friends and family, have been subjected to threats and harassment by the tabloid media.? Turns out it wasn?t just an anxious celebrity mom ? two police chiefs are being investigated in the surrogate?s recent home invasion. Luckily she?d moved out of the house when it occurred, but it?s thought the two men broke in to get information to sell to tabloids.
Clouds of controversy are surrounding both the Martins Ferry and Bridgeport Police Department after 7 News confirmed through several sources that both police chiefs are under investigation for a serious home invasion investigation. The Martins Ferry home that was allegedly broken into belonged to the surrogate mother who is having children for actress Sarah Jessica Parker
Sources confirm that Police Chief Barry Carpenter of Martins Ferry and Bridgeport Chief Chad DoJack are under investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Harrison County Prosecutor Shawn Hervey of Harrison County has been appointed to head the investigation locally.
The allegations are that the two were allegedly behind the break in and alleged attempt to sell information to a tabloid reporter.
The surrogate mother for Sarah Jessica Parker is no longer living in the Martins Ferry home that was broken into. Special Prosecutor Shawn Hervey is aware of the investigation he’s been asked to head.

The article points out that neither of the police chiefs have been charged with any crimes as of yet, so at this point they?re only allegations. That?s some heavy stuff, and SJP and Matthew Broderick definitely had reason to worry. I?m guessing that since the surrogate had already moved out of the home, they clearly took the threats and potential tabloid invasions very seriously and moved her to some place safer. Nonetheless, you might expect Star or TMZ to be a problem? rarely do you assume the real tabloid threat comes from the police. What a horrible story.
Speaking of moving, the Parker-Brodericks seem to be in the process of moving. No official word, but they?ve had moving trucks outside their home the last few days. Their twins are due in July, so it seems to be a sensible time for them to relocate to bigger digs.

Two police chiefs are under investigation for planning to break into the home of Sarah Jessica Parker’s surrogate to get info for a tabloid. Several computers have been seized and investigators allege the two were trying to take pictures of the inside of the house to show the living conditions. According to WTRF TV:
Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Dept. Chief Chad DoJack allegedly were behind a plan to burglarize the surrogate’s home in Martins Ferry, Ohio and then sell info to a tabloid reporter.
There must be a mistake. Are we talking about the same Sarah Jessica Parker? The one that when she goes to kid’s birthday parties, she gets confused for a pony? They must mean some other Sarah Jessica Parker. One that people don’t find incredibly annoying and unattractive.

Sarah Jessica Parker is having adultery problems. And no, it?s not totally about those rumors from several months ago about Matthew Broderick and that random 25-year-old redhead. It seems that the Sex and the City writers are working feverishly on plotlines for the SATC sequel (of which Chris ?Mr. Big? Noth is returning) and one of the ideas pitched was Mr. Big cheating on Carrie. Beyond the simple fact that an Big-adultery plotline would be banal, SJP has issues with the writers? idea. Because of all of the rumors about her husband Matthew, SJP doesn?t her art to imitate life. According to a source close to the production, ?That subplot hit way too close to home for Sarah…[SJP] never discusses the situation with Matthew, and she certainly doesn?t want to revisit it in her acting career.? Hello, if that?s the case, SJP has bigger problems than a wonky plotline.
Sarah Jessica Parker has flexed her creative muscles on the film sequel to the ?Sex and the City? movie - by nixing an adultery story line!
After husband Matthew Broderick was reportedly snared in a cheating scandal last summer, the Emmy-winning beauty decided art would not imitate life on the big screen, sources say.
?Sarah quickly eighty-sixed a story line that had her on-screen husband Big cheating,? an insider told the Enquirer. ?When she recently read one proposed plot outline, she vetoed it.?
The hotly anticipated sequel to the 2008 film based on the HBO series begins filming in the fall and will hit theaters in May 2010. But writers and producers are already huddling to hash out plot points, supervised by Sarah.
?The first movie ended with Carrie and Big - Sarah and Chris Noth?s characters - happily married but producers wanted to add tension and conflict to the sequel,? the source said.
?Their challenge is to give audiences something juicy to draw them in, and one of the first ideas that surfaced was Carrie in crisis over cheating Big.? But Sarah, 44, definitely had other ideas.
Her 12-year marriage to Broderick, 47, hit the headlines when it was reported that he carried on a secret affair with a 25-year-old redhead. The couple stuck together and they?re now expecting twin daughters, via a surrogate.
?I think that subplot hit way too close to home for Sarah,? the source added.
?And since she?s not only the film?s major star and one of its producers, she immediately dismissed the idea.

Meh to all of that. I?m going to give SJP the benefit of the doubt and say that she nixed the adultery plotline because it?s really stupid, not because Matthew was looking for a little strange. Not to spoil the first SATC movie (2008 SPOILERS), but the Miranda-Steve adultery plotline nearly killed me. That, and Carrie?s consistent narcissism and immaturity ruined the film for me, and if another adultery plot is all the writers can come up with, I won?t be seeing the second film.
As far as SJP and the state of her marriage… well, she and Matthew are expecting twin girls via surrogate, so let?s hope they?re more solid than they look. Here?s hoping!

Star Magazine ran a two page story in this week’s edition all about the 26 year-old woman who is carrying Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s twins. They included a photo of the surrogate, used her full name, and listed the name of the small town in Ohio where she lives. Star had quotes from the woman’s ex husband, who has custody of their four year old son and claimed that she’s a deadbeat mom who has missed child support payments. They also gave personal medical details like the fact that she had Guillian-Barre disorder in the past, a neurological disorder that left her temporarily paralyzed, and raided her MySpace for more information, including the fact that she’s into dressing punk.
Sarah Jessica Parker spoke to Access Hollywood about the fact that she’s expected twins via surrogate, and said that she’s very worried about the safety of her unborn babies and the woman who is carrying them. She said there are people who really don’t care whether her babies and their surrogate are healthy, and she was undoubtedly referring to Star’s piece:
Sarah Jessica Parker says the surrogate mom carrying the actress’s twins is a strong woman who made “an incredibly generous and gracious choice.”
But Parker now worries that this strength is being put to too much of a test from the media attention following the announcement the Sex and the City star and husband Matthew Broderick are expecting twin girls.
“On a daily basis, on an hourly basis, I am greatly concerned for her health and safety and the safe delivery of our children,” Parker, 44, tells Access Hollywood in an interview airing Tuesday.
Parker alleges that the surrogate, along with her friends and family, have been subjected to threats and harassment by the tabloid media. “Obviously there are those that don’t care about her, or her health, or safety, or my children’s health and safety, and that they should go to term and not go into an early labor and, god forbid, suffer all the things that can happen ? that is a real possibly,” she says.
All this comes at what should be one of the happiest times in the lives of the couple, who turned to a surrogate out of necessity. “We have been trying to expand our family for a number of years and we actually have explored a variety of ways of doing so,” Parker says. “It would have been odd to have made this choice if I was able to have had successful pregnancies since my son’s birth.”

Star really crossed a line by publishing the full name of Parker’s surrogate along with the town where she lives. They seem to have some kind of personal vendetta against Parker. According to RadarOnline, Star was about to break the then-”exclusive” news on their cover three weeks ago that Parker and Broderick were having twins through a surrogate when Parker decided to scoop them and make the announcement herself. It’s reckless for Star to then turn around and print the surrogate’s name, location and personal information. They could have had the same story about the surrogate with just her first name and maybe the county. No one needs to know the woman’s full name and exact location in a gossip piece. That was some kind of payback from Star. Unfortunately it’s Parker’s twins and the woman who are now at risk.
The good news is that the surrogate, whose name I won’t use here, has a very common first and last name. She’s also not listed in the phone book and finding her isn’t that simple even using those “People Search” finders that search public records. It’s also likely that Parker and Broderick have made arrangements for her safety now that her name has been released.

The woman selected by Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick as the surrogate for their twin girls is a self-proclaimed “bisexual rocker.” According to the Daily Mail
Michelle Ross, who has previously acted as a surrogate mother for a New York gay couplel, is reportedly due to give birth in July.
Her MySpace profile reveals, ‘I have had Pink hair and tattoos and spiked collars. My favourite shoes are five-inch black spike heels which lace up the front. I love metal and rock down to the bones.’
Michelle has a tattoo on one of her wrists of an overlapped Pink and blue triangle, a symbol for bisexuality. On MySpace Ross identifies herself as ‘bi[sexual].’
Well, if Matthew couldn’t carry the twins to term himself, I suppose an ugly gay woman is probably the next best thing. The twins will probably never even know the difference.
