Because every animated film has to be remade as a live-action film, we?ve gotten to the point where every live-action film now has to be made into an animated film. The Addams Family films starring Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia are utter classics, but now there?s an animated remake, with characters voiced by Charlize Theron (Morticia), Oscar Isaac, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll and Snoop Dogg. The LA premiere was last night. Sure.
Charlize wore Dior, because she?s the face of a Dior perfume. The whole ensemble is? not great together, although the separates are kind of great. The skirt is tie-dyed and I would have put it with a black t-neck. The blouse is a bit fussy, I would not have buttoned it all the way up and I would have put it with trousers. And the shoes should go with trousers or a suit too. But the biggest thing is this bowl cut that Charlize has now. She?s had this bowl cut for about a month, I think, but this is the first appearance of the bowl cut on a red carpet. YeahI hate it, without apology. The cut is awful and unflattering and it makes her look tweaked. The dye job is awful too.
Charlize spoke to the Hollywood Reporter at the premiere:
Charlize Theron voices matriarch Morticia, taking over the iconic character after coming up with a different-sounding voice and playing around with a lot of that stuff alongside co-directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan. Of the familys 80-year staying power, Theron told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere on Sunday, I think theres something inspiring about a family that is so different and they dont just think its OK, they think its great that theyre that different. We should all aspire to that.
The new take follows the Addams family as they move to modern New Jersey and face off against a prying reality TV host. Oscar Isaac, Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Better Midler, Nick Kroll, Elsie Fisher, Snoop Dogg and Allison Janney also voice roles in the film, with Fisher noting how the new incarnation, as almost all Addams Family incarnations do, tackles modern issues, and I think our film really talks about the good and the bad part of social media, the horrors of mob mentality and how ostracized people can be attacked.

I loved the Addams family as a kid and it probably influenced by a goth-lite phase for years. Anjelica Huston will forever be my Morticia, but Charlize is just doing the voice and so be it. If this gets kids more interested in goth life, then that will make me happy. Morticia and Wednesday Addams are always pretty easy Halloween costumes too. Hint, hint.

What happens when two regal goddesses meet up in Rome? They pose together for some of the cheekboniest photos I?ve ever seen in my life. These photos are MAGNIFICENT. Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer are doing the European swing of the promotional tour for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. They attended the photocall today, using Rome as a backdrop for their beauty. It was an incredible sight and I home the Roman Tourism Board cuts them a check.
Angelina?s ensemble here is Givenchy. She hasn?t worn a lot of Givenchy in her life, especially not when Riccardo Tisci was the head designer. But now that Clare Waight Keller is in charge? I guess maybe Angelina is giving Givenchy another chance. Or maybe a styist somewhere (for the studio?) decided that Angelina needed to wear some color for the promotion. In any case, it?s sort of a new silhouette for our sack-dress lover.
Both Michelle and Angelina have the BEST makeup in these photos. It helps that they?re both vampires who devour men to enhance their power and beauty. Meanwhile, did you know that Angelina used to have a crush on Michelle? Jolie spoke about that during a joint interview last week, telling Michelle that she loved her in Grease 2 and Scarface. And Angelina did use the word ?crush? to describe her feelings for Michelle. We stan a ?90s bisexual icon.

As we discussed on Friday, Miley Cyrus has already jumped into a new relationship, this one with Aussie singer-actor Cody Simpson. They?ve known each for years, but over the past week, they?ve been performing their new love with a series of public makeout sessions in LA and Malibu. Cody posted this photo to his Instagram Stories over the weekend Miley made him breakfast (bananas on toast) and he was happy. They?ve been together a week and there?s already all of THIS. And Miley had just broken up with Kaitlynn Carter two weeks ago because Kaitlynn was getting too serious. Miley was defending herself over the weekend too she believes (perhaps correctly) that she?s being slut-shamed for moving through relationships so quickly.
On her Instagram Story on Friday, Miley Cyrus ? who is coming off of back-to-back breakups with Kaitlynn Carter and husband Liam Hemsworth, who is also Australian ? shared a black and white, shirtless photo of Simpson. Over the top of the steamy pic, she wrote ?22 [check] Australian (my type) [check] Abs [check]? At the bottom, she added, ?Hot Girl Fall [check]?
In the next slide on her Story, the songstress shared a TMZ video of her and Simpson kissing at Backyard Bowls in West Hollywood. She wrote, ?Can a girl not get a f?ing aai bowl and a morning make out session in peace?!?!? Underneath the video, she wrote, ?lol sneaky ass.?
On another slide, Miley wrote: I know the public feels invested in my past relationship [with ex Liam Hemsworth] because they felt like they saw it thru from the beginning. I think thats why people have always felt so entitled over my life and how I live it because theyve watched me grow up. But I am grown now, Cyrus continued, and make choices as an adult knowing the truth/details/reality. People only know what they see on the internet. Men (especially successful ones) are RARELY slut shamed. They move on from one beautiful woman to the next MOST times without consequence. They are referred to as legends, heart throbs, she continued, where women are called sluts/whores! I am trying to just THRIVE/survive in a mans world.

This reminds me a bit of the conversation in 2016, when people got on Taylor Swift?s case when she moved on from Calvin Harris to Tom Hiddleston in about a week. Amber Rose defended Taylor and said that Taylor (and any woman) is under no obligation to ?give her p-ssy a rest.? We can and should say the same for Miley, and all women? if we?re making a purely feminist argument. As a feminist, of course I believe in Miley?s right to bang any consenting man or woman she wants. As a professional gossip, I?d just like to point out that not all of the criticism is about ?Miley burns through lovers too quickly.? There?s also a significant amount of criticism of Miley because she?s performing all of this sh-t so publicly. She cheated on Liam with Kaitlynn and she made sure we knew all about it. And on and on. She and Cody are already super-public too. Miley desperately wants attention, and wants to be discussed. So? whatever.

Christie Brinkley and the fabulous Wendi McLendon-Covey were on Access Live to talk about Christie?s guest appearance on The Goldbergs, where Christie recreated her scene in Vacation by pulling up next to the Goldbergs in a red convertible on the highway. I haven?t watched The Goldbergs in years, it?s a cute show but it felt played out after a couple of seasons. The formula got old to me but respect to them for continuing it and there?s even that spinoff show Schooled with Tim Meadows, which had its second season premiere too. (Side note I?ve been listening to the fabulous new Pajiba podcast, where they?re talking about new and returning TV shows and there are so many shows I haven?t even heard of! If you?re looking for new shows to watch check them out they are so funny. I love Dustin?s rants, and they have great recommendations.)
Anyway the first part of the interview wasn?t that interesting to me, they were just talking about the show, but at the end Christie mentioned aging and being fabulous. Wendi is turning 50 and Kit mentioned that, which is why Christie started talking about it. Here?s what she said:
Wendi: I feel like getting a shirt that says ask me how old I am
Christie: I love that theyre declaring their age because 50 aint what it used to be. In the old fashioned days people used to lie about their age. Women really need to declare their age now because our image of those numbers has to shift. It will only shift when we see gorgeous women like these saying Im turning 50 and its like this is 50. This is the result of a healthy diet, exercise, all the advances that we know about now. 50 just aint what it used to be.

She was right about some points but of course she only alluded to plastic surgery and injectables. No shame on women who get those, I probably will soon-ish, but that?s the unspoken part of this conversation. As someone closer to 50 than 40, it?s inspiring to see Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Michelle Pfeiffer and to a lesser extent Christie Brinkley and Gwen Stefani, looking incredible over 50. I think the key is fitness and nutrition, but of course skincare and injectables play a large role too. However most of it is privilege, which is time and wealth. They have time for exercise, spa treatments, dermatologist visits, mindful eating and just to focus on themselves. So many women work full time jobs, care for a family and do most of the housework. We?re also expected to look as good as possible, while living our life for other people.
Christie Brinkley also talked about giving her DWTS gig to her daughter Sailor after Christie broke her arm. Theres no way that was a set up as some people have claimed.
