It seems like ages since I last saw Michelle Pfeiffer, but she has been active the last few years. Michelle was in Avengers: Endgame, Murder on the Orient Express and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. But still I feel like I dont see her much these days and it is always a treat when I do. Michelle is in the new film French Exit, out February 12th. Michelle plays New York socialite, Frances Price, who must start over in Paris with her son after she loses her wealth when her husband dies. In a new interview with Extra, Michelle says the script for French Exit was very compelling and discusses her character, Frances, seeking a psychic for guidance. Michelle says that she has a had couple of readings from a psychic and that were mind-blowing. Below are a few excerpts from the interview:
First, she opened up about her Showtime?s series ?The First Lady.? Rachel asked, ?Is it nerve-wracking for you to play such an iconic legend??
Michelle confessed, ?It is, and you don?t really think about that until you commit.? Smiling, she added, ?And now I am doing a deep dive into it and I take it seriously? It?s a real person who has family and who was an incredible part of our history.?
The three-time Oscar nominee could see another nomination with ?French Exit.? Pfeiffer plays a fiery redhead and once-wealthy socialite who loses it all after her husband dies. She moves to Paris to start over with her son, played by Hedges. Michelle said the script was like nothing she had read before. ?All of them are somewhat lonely and disconnected and need help finding each other, and I just thought it was so unusual.?
Azazel added, ?I was struck by how? all these characters really moved by the beat of their own drum.?
Rachel asked, ?We see you communicating with the other side? Have you ever gone to a medium before? or maybe a psychic or had a card reading??
Michelle said, ?I am not going to share, but it was kind of fascinating, I have to say. I?ve had a few readings that were kind of mind-blowing.?
Lucas, ?I had a reading, too, that the second I stepped into it was like mind-blowing clear and it felt deeply true.?
?French Exit? opens February 12.
[From Extra]
I had to watch this video several times to hear what Michelle was saying because I kept staring at the guy, Azazel Jacobs, with the huge afro. Like his hair was phenomenal and stole my attention. I need to know his secrets. I think it is so cool that Michelle has seen a psychic. As a tarot reader myself, I enjoy opening the other realms to my clients. As the reader, the experience can be just as exciting for us as it is for those receiving the reading. It is also very exciting to have someone like Michelle validate alternative spiritual practices. I also love that Lucas Hedges, who plays Michelle son Malcolm in the film, echoed her sentiments on getting a reading.
Michelle will always be the best Catwoman outside of Eartha Kitt and I will always be a fan. French Exit sounds like an intriguing movie and I look forward to watching it. I am also excited that Michelle will be returning to television by starring as Betty Ford in the Showtime series The First Lady. I hope that we get to see more of Michelle in the future. It feels like something is missing in Hollywood without her around. I would also like to add that Michelle looks damn good. I guess thats what happens when you are unproblematic.
Heres that interview!

What happens when two regal goddesses meet up in Rome? They pose together for some of the cheekboniest photos I?ve ever seen in my life. These photos are MAGNIFICENT. Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer are doing the European swing of the promotional tour for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. They attended the photocall today, using Rome as a backdrop for their beauty. It was an incredible sight and I home the Roman Tourism Board cuts them a check.
Angelina?s ensemble here is Givenchy. She hasn?t worn a lot of Givenchy in her life, especially not when Riccardo Tisci was the head designer. But now that Clare Waight Keller is in charge? I guess maybe Angelina is giving Givenchy another chance. Or maybe a styist somewhere (for the studio?) decided that Angelina needed to wear some color for the promotion. In any case, it?s sort of a new silhouette for our sack-dress lover.
Both Michelle and Angelina have the BEST makeup in these photos. It helps that they?re both vampires who devour men to enhance their power and beauty. Meanwhile, did you know that Angelina used to have a crush on Michelle? Jolie spoke about that during a joint interview last week, telling Michelle that she loved her in Grease 2 and Scarface. And Angelina did use the word ?crush? to describe her feelings for Michelle. We stan a ?90s bisexual icon.

Michelle Pfeiffer has a new interview with the Sunday Telegraph to promote the The Family, which didn’t exactly set the US box office on fire. Michelle’s career is definitely one that ebbs and flows. She makes a lot of strange choices but sometimes finds a hit. I’m sure she’s not receiving the greatest scripts because options are so limited for women over 40 in Hollywood. She’s still making it though, and she looks ravishing in the process.
Michelle is pulling out the big guns in her arsenal to publicize this movie. In doing so, she’s dredged up a bit of her past that comes as quite a surprise. She reveals that she was a cult member when she was just 20 years old. Michelle was sucked in by an organization that pushed breatharianism, which is the ability to live without food and water. The cult believed that food is unnecessary and that all nourishment that a body needs comes from … sunlight alone. Not surprisingly, Michelle now says this is a diet that “nobody can adhere to.” No kidding:
On realizing she was in a cult: Michelle was ‘saved’ when she was introduced to her first husband, Peter Horton, the actor. He had been cast in a film about the Moonies, the name given to followers of Rev Moon Sun-myung’s Unification Church. She said that while she was helping him with research “on this cult” she realised: “I was in one. We were talking with an ex-Moonie and he was describing the psychological manipulation and I just clicked.”
The cult’s leaders were pseudo-”personal trainers”: “They worked with weights and put people on diets. Their thing was vegetarianism. They were very controlling. I wasn?t living with them but I was there a lot and they were always telling me I needed to come more. I had to pay for all the time I was there, so it was financially very draining. They believed that people in their highest state were breatharian.”
On aging and plastic surgery: “The loss of youth, the loss of beauty — it definitely plays havoc with your psyche. There?s this transition from, ‘Wow, she looks really young for her age,’ to, ‘She looks great for her age.’ And there?s a big difference. I?m now at, ‘She looks great for her age.’ There is certainly a mourning process to that. I used to think I would never have surgery but it’s really hard to say never. I?m in the ‘never say never’ camp now.”
On adopting a child before marrying David Kelley: “One thing I?m not short on is courage. I’d been really desperate to start a family for a long time. And then I was 33 and I just thought ‘You know, I don’t want to wait any more’.” She said that her desire to have children “was colouring my relationships. I was maybe hanging on to some that I shouldn’t have.”
[From Telegraph UK]
I’m not sure what Michelle means by saying “their thing was vegetarianism” when she speaks of the cult’s leaders. Maybe they started out pushing vegetarianism to followers, and the rules gradually became more stringent until no food was allowed at all. That’s a pretty dumb way of preaching, you know? When followers are dropping off like flies (sorry to be gruesome), they can’t exactly churn up new revenue. Dumb cult.
Pfeiffer is a strict vegan these days and seems pretty happy about it. At least we now know why she never stumbled into Scientology.

| Michelle Pfeiffer, 55, in a Dolce & Gabbana ballerina dress: cloying or timeless? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos from last night?s Paris premiere of Luc Besson?s The Family, the ?mafia dark comedy? starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert DeNiro and Dianna Agron. I?m only covering this because I liked the photos and because I still have a great deal of affection for Michelle.
Michelle wore Dolce & Gabbana ? a full-skirted, black ?ballerina? dress which I usually associate with Sarah Jessica Parker. What are your thoughts? Michelle is 55 years old, and this dress could have easily veered into some age-inappropriate look, something much too girly for Michelle. But I think it kind of works on her because she has the figure for it. She?s always been slender and, frankly, small-breasted. This kind of neckline and bodice works well on that body type. It?s like the Audrey Hepburn thing ? instead of looking cloying or inappropriate, you look timeless. PS? Michelle?s heels are Sergio Rossi.
Dianna Agron wore Valentino Fall 2013. I?m pretty sure this dress was seeb during this year?s Cannes Film Festival. Who wore it? Someone too young, I seem to remember. I?m thinking Dakota or Elle Fanning. I?m actually okay with the stiff-looking material (is that a heavy taffeta?) for the skirt, but I wonder if the sleeves could be better? There seems to be too much material, and it looks like she?s wearing leg-warmers on her arms. I don?t think Dianna?s styling does her any favors either ? she?s a pretty girl, but she needs some volume or something with her hair.

| Michelle Pfeiffer at the age of 55: 'You can begin to look great for your age' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Michelle Pfeiffer is 55 years old. Did I just blow your mind? Here?s a question, and I?m honestly looking for your thoughts: has she had any work done? I?m not sure. My guess would be that she hasn?t had any surgery, but maybe some Botox and fillers here and there, nothing overzealous. The secret, I believe, is knowing when to stop and having realistic goals. If you?re 55 years old, you shouldn?t try to look 30. You should try to look like a well-preserved 43. Which is exactly what Michelle looks like ? like a still-beautiful 40-something.
Anyway, Michelle is promoting her new movie with Robert DeNiro called The Family. She?s married to DeNiro, a mobster, and they go into Witness Protection? in France. The movie actually looks really stupid (Emma Roberts is in it!!), but it?s nice to see Michelle work with DeNiro. To promote the movie, she covers the October issue of Ladies? Home Journal. Some interview highlights:
She didn?t mean to take time off: ?I didn’t decide to take that time off. It just sort of happened. When the kids were small I used to take them with me on location. But as they got older I didn’t want to pull them out of school, and the idea of traveling to make a movie became harder and harder. I started putting caveats on everything — like I’ll do a movie only at a certain time of year, or in a certain location — and I negotiated myself out of work. If I was going to do something that took me away from my kids, it had to matter. Moms often think, ?Oh, I should be home when the kids are babies.? But I think they need you more when they’re a little older.?
She?s a painter too: ?I was so busy with my kids, which was incredibly creative and improvisational and certainly challenging. But I’m a real homebody. I’m happy puttering around the house and doing my own thing, even if it’s isolating. When the kids were in school I painted, mostly portraits. Both painting and acting are about paying attention to detail and seeing things in a different way. I got so immersed in painting that I didn’t read scripts or return my agent’s calls. I probably would have done more movies had I not taken up painting. Of course, once my kids got older they started saying, ?Mom, aren’t you going back to work soon?? They missed the craft services table [laughs]. We don’t keep junk food at home.?
She still thinks she?s about to get fired: ?I still think I’m going to be fired in the first week of every new job I take. Always. In fact, before I even start a movie I’ll try to get myself fired or think of a reason I should quit. I guess it’s fear of failure. I tend to choose parts that are a stretch for me. It’s like I’ll throw myself into the deep end and think I’m going to drown for a very long time.?
Aging in the industry: ?Having to watch yourself age on a giant movie screen is simply not natural. It can wreak havoc on your psyche. My dermatologist said to me once, ?You know that 10X magnifying mirror that you have in the bathroom? Throw it away.? It was the best advice anybody ever gave me. Of course, now my eyes are weaker and I can’t see to put my makeup on without that mirror! But once you get over a certain hump there actually is less pressure. You can begin to look great for your age. You don’t have to look young anymore. I’ve moved over to that other side — I’m 55, which is a little too close to 60, but looking great for my age is okay now.?
She?s become a vegan: ?A few years ago I saw a special on CNN, ?The Last Heart Attack,? about how to prevent heart disease. I’m not really at risk for that but my father died of cancer and my mother has advanced-stage dementia. And I have people close to me battling cancer. Seeing both of my parents suffer has made me think a lot about longevity and quality of life. And while it’s open to debate, if there’s any chance we can prevent a lot of chronic illnesses by the way we eat, why not try it? So I cut out meat and dairy and after two months my cholesterol shot down 83 points. I also try to exercise five days a week — I run, do free weights. But I haven’t always been healthy. When I was in my 20s I smoked two packs of cigarettes a day. I lived on Marlboro Lights and Coca-Cola.?
Sacrifices: ?The toughest thing for me has been balancing being a working mom. I learned early on that you can have it all but you can’t do it all. I sacrificed some things in my work to be a better parent — but I also sacrificed some parenting in order to do what I love.?
Empty-nesters now that their kids are in college: ?My husband and I sit around and talk about what we want to do and where we want to live. I’ll say, “Honey, should we take up golf? Do you want to play golf together?” And he’ll say, “Golf? I don’t know. That takes so much time.” Then I’ll say, “Maybe we should plant a vineyard. Why don’t we make wine?” Besides working a little more, I don’t know what we’ll do. It’s scary, but it’s also exciting to think about. Once I get past the shock of having an empty nest, I’m going to be really happy with my newfound freedom.?
[From Ladies? Home Journal]
Man, I always forget how much I like Michelle. She?s a cool lady, isn?t she? She seems? pragmatic, realistic, classy, honest, refreshing and very much like a cool, hands-on mom. As much as we hear from the current generation of celebrity moms, Michelle actually DID go away and raise her kids away from the spotlight and she was able to still work here and there and retain some mystique. Personally, I welcome her back to the Hollywood table. I hope she works more now that her kids are grown.

| Michelle Pfeiffer on the botox & plastic surgery epidemic: 'It's kind of sad' | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Elle magazine has compiled a collection of quotes from its “Women In Hollywood 2011? feature, which includes the above photos of an ethereal looking Michelle Pfeiffer wearing a 1950s vintage James Galanos dress. Yes, the lighting is very kind, and the greyscale adds to that effect, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Pfieffer is 53-years-old and looks positively remarkable as such.
Pfieffer herself has been the subject of plastic surgery rumors, and if you look at this photo comparison, which alleges that Michelle has had some work done on her face, I think it’s fairly obvious that she’s had a nose job. As to the cheek implant claim, it’s probably more of a case of weight loss and makeup. Whatever the case, she’s likely just had a few tweaks done like everyone else in Hollywood and doesn’t come close to being a surgery addict or a botox monster. On that topic, Pfieffer has a few choice words for Elle:
On Playing Al Pacino’s trophy wife in Scarface: I was terrified the whole time. I was so out of my league with all of these seasoned actors. Here I was, this little waify thing in these little flimsy clothes, and who was I? I was the girl from Grease 2!
On Plastic Surgery: I’m all for a little something here and there-fine. It doesn’t matter to me if people have plastic surgery or they don’t, or if they do Botox. But when people don’t look like themselves anymore, that’s when you kind of go, “Oooh,” and it’s kind of sad. It’s uncomfortable for us, but if they’re happy with what they see in the mirror, does it matter?
[From Elle]
She’s absolutely correct on cosmetic enhancement really only mattering when people no longer look like their former selves. Like Megan Fox, Heidi Montag, and Nicole Kidman, among many others. Pfieffer also takes great care to not sound too judgy (although it’s easy to take her words out of context) about the topic either because, clearly, she’s not one-hundred percent natural herself. Still, she’s pretty damn close, right?
Here’s some photos from the set of New Year’s Eve in February, where Michelle shares a scene with (gulp) Zac Efron:

Taking care of a few errands, Michelle Pfeiffer was spotted out and about in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon (January 7).
The “Stardust” actress looked lovely with her newly-cropped straight blonde hairdo, sporting a black leather jacket with a white top, jeans, and boots.
Though she’s been laying pretty low as of late, Michelle made an appearance at the Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier this week.
Her latest film “Personal Effects” also stars Ashton Kutcher and Kathy Bates and centers on a national wrestling hopeful whose life is rocked when his sister is brutally murdered.

Michelle Pfeiffer has been doing the publicity rounds for her new film Cheri, and she has been utterly charming. Last week we covered a couple of interviews she gave where she talked about how a journalist called her ?old and decrepit?. She also talked about how she hates the word ?cougar? even though period cougar-hood is what Cheri is all about. It?s set in 1920s Paris, and Michelle plays an aging courtesan who takes on a young lover, the son of a retired courtesan, played by British actor (and Keira Knightley?s real-life lover) Rupert Friend. While out promoting the film, Michelle told reporters at the Cinema Society that she liked the subject matter of the film, and that prostitution should be legalized:
Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates, who both play French courtesans in ?Cheri,? think it may be time for America to legalize prostitution.
?There is an argument to be made for providing some protection for [prostitutes],? Pfeiffer told us at the Cinema Society/Noilly Prat screening of her film. ?It would solve a lot of problems for them. They?re going to do it anyway.?
Bates concurred, ?For health reasons, it would be better for people to enjoy those pleasures…?
[From The New York Daily News]
I kind of agree - of course there would be many, many issues with the legalization of prostitution, but the subject is certainly worthy of a larger discussion. I?d kind of like to see what a Hookers? Union would look like. What would happen when they called a strike?
Back to Michelle - in yet another interview, Michelle was asked about the new Batman franchise, and her role in the 1992 film Batman Returns, where she played Catwoman. Michelle is all for the return of Catwoman in the new Christopher Nolan-Batman franchise. She?s even willing to take the new Catwoman under her wing? or rather, her whip:
Michelle Pfeiffer - who played Catwoman and her alter ego Selina Kyle in 1992 movie ‘Batman Returns’ - says she thinks the character should be brought back for the next movie in the hit superhero franchise and she would happily compare experiences with the chosen actress.
She said: “You would think they’d bring her back. They better… They should!
“I would be there for the consult. I can give the whipping lessons. I did my own whipping.”
Both Angelina Jolie and Rachel Weisz have been mooted for the potential role, but Michelle refused to choose a favourite saying only they would “both would be awesome”.
Director Christopher Nolan - who helmed the previous Christian Bale-starring Caped Crusader adventures, ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight’ - is rumoured not to be returning for a third movie.
[From Ireland Online]
?I can give whipping lessons? is my favorite quote of the day. I have an idea for Christopher Nolan. Don?t mess around with casting Angelina Jolie or some other, younger actress for Catwoman. Go with the classic. Go with what works. Hire Michelle for the role, all over again. You know she would whip the hell out of Christian Bale. And he totally deserves it.

All too often the gossip-world is devoted to covering and following the youngest, the dumbest, the drunkest, and the most ridiculous celebrities out there. So occasionally it?s nice to cover a interesting little story about a woman of a ?certain age? who isn?t mangling her face with surgery or Botox, who isn?t dating a guy half her age, who isn?t telling off some other celebrity and who isn?t flashing her lady bits to a paparazzo?s waiting camera. Such is the case of 51-year-old Michelle Pfeiffer. Michelle gets my respect automatically because she was in some of my favorite films of all time - Dangerous Liaisons (where she seduced John Malkovich on and off screen), The Age of Innocence (where she allegedly seduced Daniel Day-Lewis off-screen) and Married To the Mob (which is just a really funny movie).
Unfortunately, not everyone shares me good opinion of Michelle Pfeiffer and how cool and classy she is. Michelle recently told a story about how during some of her promotional duties, a reporter asked her ?’How does it feel to have an old and decrepit body?? Not cool, douchebag reporter. Not cool:
Michelle Pfeiffer was left speechless during a recent promotional trip to Germany - when one journalist described the Hollywood star’s body as “old and decrepit”.
The Dangerous Liaisons actress, who is currently promoting new romantic drama Cheri, celebrated her 51st birthday this April (09) and insists she is embracing growing old gracefully.
But she was stunned when one female reporter criticised her looks in such a harsh manner.
Pfeiffer says, “She asked, ‘How does it feel to have an old and decrepit body?’ And at first I didn’t understand her, I was like, ‘Sorry, did you just say I had an old and decrepit body?’ and she was like, ‘Ja (yes). How does it feel?’”
The actress recognized the woman from a past press conference when she attacked the star’s fashion sense - and Pfeiffer responded to the criticism of her appearance by giving the reporter a telling off for her consistently rude comments.
Pfeiffer reveals, “She was the same woman who’d asked me years before, because I remembered her. She’d said, ‘Do you think what you’re wearing is appropriate?’ She was like, 60 and had on a miniskirt! And I said, ‘Well, you’re the one who asked me two years ago if I was dressed appropriate… (sic)’.”
[From Contact Music]
I?m going to go out on a limb and say that the reporter was either insane, or on crack. Or both. I like how Michelle handled it though, and I hope she didn?t take it seriously, but the woman still looks amazing - and age appropriate. The reason Michelle has been giving so many interviews lately is because she?s got a film to promote - Cherie, ?a romantic drama set in 1920s Paris, where the son of a courtesan retreats into a fantasy world after being forced to end his relationship with the older woman who educated him in the ways of love.? Michelle plays the older woman who ?educated? the son of the courtesan, and thus, the whole cougar-hood question came out when she spoke to In Style Magazine (quotes via Page Six):
Don?t call Michelle Pfeiffer a cougar. The actress, 51, tells InStyle: “I so hate that term! Colette wrote these novels [about older women with younger men] so long ago, but even today they’re ahead of their time in the way we perceive women’s power and sexuality.”
As for her take on plastic surgery, she says, “Well, I think your face should still move. And you should be recognizable to your friends. One actress I knew years ago, a really lovely person, had some stuff done, and literally, every time I run into her now I don’t recognize her. Every time!”
[From Page Six]
Michelle gets an A-plus for a literary cougar reference. Eat that, Demi Moore. That being said, as I was researching this, I checked Michelle?s dating history on Who?s Dated Who, and her entry is epic. That girl dated some really great guys when they were in their prime. But generally, she tended to date men who were older. She doesn?t have the heart of cougar, only the looks. Currently, Michelle is married to David E. Kelley (they?ve been together since 1993 and he?s two years older than her) and they raise their two kids together quietly and happily from all evidence.
