Always the ultimate diva, Mariah Carey looked the total pop queen when she touched down in Los Angeles on Thursday (September 6).
The 42-year-old songstress smiled her way through LAX Airport dressed in a black floor-length dress, complete with massive heels and huge sunglasses.
Mariah flew in from New York one day after kicking off the NFL season with a glittering performance at the Rockefeller Center in the city on Wednesday night.
She wowed the crowds at that event as she belted out her new single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," alongside ?The Voice? coach Cee Lo Green.

Mariah Carey was none too happy when she discovered that rapper Nicki Minaj would be joining her at the judges’ table on this season’s American Idol, reportedly hanging up on producers and storming out of the studio in a hail of Peruvian Swordtail butterflies and Hello Kitty accessories. TMZ says:
We’re told [Mariah] hung up the phone when she was told Nicki was the top candidate.
Sources [said] Mariah was led to believe she would be the only woman on the judge’s panel. Choosing Nicki would not only crush that expectation, it would add insult to injury because Nicki (29) is a lot younger than Mariah (42).
Some of the honchos believe it’s a mistake to have 2 women and a man on the panel, and a 4th male judge would be necessary.
They’re [also] worried if the judge’s end up being Mariah, Nicki and Randy, middle America might not welcome the blackout.
Yep, can’t have too many women or blacks sitting behind the table, or you risk alienating the valuable late nineteenth-century plantation owner demographic. “And once you let in the women and the coloreds, the Jews and the homosexuals aren’t far behind,” Representative Todd Akin was later quoted as saying.
Forte Forte’s cotton strapless dress has the same crotchet top and full pleated maxi skirt as Mariah’s, but it’s “tobacco” instead of “poo brown.”

There are several stories in this week?s tabloids about Mariah Carey?s new American Idol stint, although I don?t think we?ll be getting the real dirt until Idol begins officially and disgruntled workers start leaking like crazy to the tabloids. Thus far, the ?scandals? are pre-emptive ? Star Magazine reports that Mariah is hellbent on out-shining, out-diva-ing, out-Mariah-ing Jennifer Lopez?s tenure on Idol. Mariah was ?adamant? about getting a bigger contract, and she wants to make sure that everyone is talking about her outfits, just like they talked about Jennifer?s. And Mariah is already making big demands for her dressing room, which must include ?organic baby beds? for Moroccan and Monroe and a ?playspace? for Nick Cannon. But! The Enquirer claims that Nick isn?t happy AT ALL about Mariah?s new Idol contract. Their sources claim that Nick was doing everything he could to keep Mariah off the show. Something about Nick wanting Mariah to stay home and take care of the babies?
BECOMING an ?American Idol? judge may be a boon for MARAH CAREY??s career, but it?s a bust for her marriage!
Her hubby, Nick Cannon, who hosts ?Idol? rival ?America?s Got Talent,? is furious that the 43-year-old Grammy winner ignored his wishes and decided to star on a direct competitor of his show, say sources.
And while he?s publicly said ?she?s gonna be amazing on ?Idol,?? an insider said that ?privately, Nick?s gritting his teeth and dead-set against her taking the job.?
When Mariah was deep in delicate negotiations with ?Idol? brass, the insider says Nick tried to ?throw water on the negotiations? by telling a reporter: ?I don?t know if they can afford Mariah Carey…If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!?
Explained the insider: ?Nick was tossing around outrageous salary figures in hopes of pricing Mariah out of the market. Right until the eleventh hour, he was begging her to pass on the offer.
“He was dangling incentives ? diamond jewelry, a luxurious spa vacation, even promising to pay her a one-time ?gift? of $15 million for saying no. Nick wants her to be a stay-at-home mom to their twins, at least until they turn 5. He was even hoping to have another baby, but Mariah has effectively scorched that dream.?
Nick felt that when Mariah went back into the recording studio earlier this year, it would give her the showbiz shot in the arm she needed, according to the insider. ?The truth is that Mariah just misses the limelight too much, and Nick feels betrayed by her choice? the two are hardly talking.?
Meanwhile, Nick loves being the host of his popular show ? ?He feels he needs to prove to the world that he?s more than Mr. Mariah Carey. For Mariah, it?s a huge letdown that she and Nick are at each other?s throats during one of the high points of her career.?

Eh. I think part of this may be true ? like, I could see Nick being disappointed that his diva wife is going to be on TV all the time now, and that their family could be negatively affected. But I also think Nick really knows and understands his wife. Nick has turned out to be a good guy, you know ? he seems to really love Mariah, and he seems to be happy enough to let her have the spotlight. I think they?ve made it five years already because Nick is cool with “Operation: Let The Butterfly Soar?.

The first of Mariah Carey’s new American Idol promo pics was released yesterday, although it’s not so much a photo as it is a cartoon. Whoever took the picture appears to have caught her at the exact moment she had a stroke, and whoever was responsible for the editing was clearly drunk and using Microsoft Paint, possibly while wearing sunglasses over an eye patch. Photoshop FAIL.

First things first: THIS ^^^^ is the first promotional photo of Mariah Carey for her American Idol judging job. Can you believe this? This is classic Mariah. Photoshopped to a ridiculous level, with an artificial waist, airbrushed skin, and THAT POSE. I do not get the pose. What?s worse is that you know Mariah spends hours practicing her poses, and she decided that this ? with her arms awkwardly bent, half askew ? was the most flattering, the ?thinnest? and the sexiest. This is what it?s going to be like on American Idol. I said it before ? Simon Fuller is going to rue the day that he hired her. Yes, there will be controversies and drama and excitement and maybe they?ll even bring back some viewers ? but will it be worth it if they have to deal with Mariah?s daily tantrums and diva-ness? Speaking of, Page Six had this funny story:
When Mariah Carey was named the newest, $18 million judge on ?American Idol,? staffers at the Fox show began bracing for the dreaded and possibly endless list of diva demands, we?re told. The pop princess is famously demanding on her backstage riders, which have included such necessities as baskets of puppies, furniture with ?no busy patterns,? ?vases of white roses? and a ?tea service for eight.?
She once insisted, ?I don?t do stairs,? while other wild reports have said Carey has previously demanded a chauffeur for her dog, ?confetti shaped like butterflies? as well as 20 white kittens at a London appearance.
But, a source close to Carey says she won?t require anything out of the ordinary on ?Idol,? and adds that the show itself has many of its own branded requirements for stars to use the products of certain sponsors.
?It?s all standard stuff, nothing out of the ordinary,? the source said of Carey?s ?Idol? requirements. ?It?s not like they?ll need to put a new roof on the building. It?s standard lists, whether it?s for water, soda, veggies, snacks. It?s all fairly normal.?
So no puppies this time. Then again, Carey?s tagline on Twitter declares, ?Citizen of the World Dahhhling!?

I died at ?confetti shaped like butterflies? but I can?t believe she once demanded kittens. KITTENS!!!!!! A lot of people are comparing/contrasting Mariah to her Idol predecesor, Jennifer Lopez, but I actually think Mariah is going to set her personal diva bar at Britney Spears?s contract with The X Factor. Britney is getting a ton of money, and her rider includes things like 34 Herve Leger dresses, Snickers, Doritos and magnolia blossoms (and no hawt dergs). Surely Mariah can match Britney?s rider, if not easily exceed it.

Making a stunning overseas performance appearance, Mariah Carey took the stage at the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club in Monaco on Saturday evening (June 2).
The ?Butterfly? songstress looked picture perfect as she belted out her hits in a strapless floor length white gown that she paired with a shiny golden belt.
Always offering up a powerful lineup of songs, Mimi treated the packed house to tunes including ?It?s Like That,? ?Touch My Body,? ?Always Be My Baby? and ?Can?t Take That Away.?
Also joining Mariah onstage for the incredible performance was singer, Trey Lorenz, who is featured on the 42-year-old Grammy winner's hit ?Ill Be There.?

Here are some new photos of Mariah Carey performing the ?closing concert? at an Austrian ski resort. First, you know Mariah got PAID. Big time. The past week has been all about Mariah and Nick?s vow renewal, which they ended up doing in a paparazzi explosion in Paris. And then from Paris, Mariah flew to Austria to WORK? Of course she got paid. And I?m guessing it was in the eight-figures.
But really, can we talk about Mariah?s cameltoe? Because it?s making me uncomfortable and happy all at the same time. Like, I think I know HOW it happened. Mariah was all, ?You guys, I?m totally going to wear this super-cute red ski outfit while I?m singing, and everyone will see how much weight I?ve lost and it will be amazing!!? And then she decided that underwear would ruin ?the line? of the ski suit, so she went without. Thus, massive cameltoe. At least we know she got a Brazilian before her vow renewal? Too graphic? Good God, just look at her. Don?t tell me that Mariah?s Cameltoe of Doom isn?t the thing that?s too graphic. Mariah needs to let her girl breathe.
Incidentally, beyond the wardrobe malfunction, I think Mariah looks great here. Her hair looks especially awesome.

Last week, we reported how Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were heading to Paris to renew their wedding vows, and here are some photos of the happy couple before and after their renewal ceremony at the Plaza Athenee (right next to the Eiffel Tower) on Friday evening. I know that perhaps I’m wrong to react in a suspicious manner to such a wanton display of excess for two people who are already married — after all, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian also renewed their vows this weekend as well — but it seems like such a famewhore move. Very public vow renewals are also very obviously geared to inform the world just how happy a couple is to be married to each other, and this often seems like a method for a couple to use to convince themselves of their own enduring love. I guess I’m just worried about Mariah and Nick and don’t want them to fall prey to Heidi-and-Seal Syndrome. Then again, Mariah’s always been a glorious diva, and here she takes no exception to this rule because (conveniently) all of the photo agencies knew exactly where to find her and Nick while they did their renewal thing in matching white attire.
Mariah wore a spaghetti-strapped white, gathered gown with a mermaid-like skirt and a black bow around her waist. Her figure looks stunning.
Of course, both Mariah and Nick had to make their own grand, respective displays of PDA for the cameras too.
Here are Mariah and Nick heading to the airport on Sunday to leave Paris and come back home to dem babies. For whatever reason, Mariah is wearing a full-length, flowing black gown while Nick is showing his guns in a white wife beater and matching sweatpants. Such strangeness.

Lovely mom, Mariah Carey was spotted out shopping at the Azzedine Alaia Store in Paris, France on Sautrday afternoon (April 28) topping off her romantic weekend.
The ?All I Want for Christmas is You? signer brought along her twins, Moroccan and Monroe but left her hubby, Nick Cannon after the two renewed their vows on Friday night (April 27), and she tweeted, ?Tonight was an incredible night, I can't express how amazing it was to renew our vows in Paris at the top of the Eiffel tower.?
In career news, the 40-year-old singer recently announced that she will release a greatest hits album titled, The Essential Mariah Carey that will feature popular recordings from her albums in the nineties.
?I wanted to create a collection of some of my favorite songs. Several of them are very big hits and some are more obscure favorites of mine as well as fan faves,? Miss Carey said about the two-disc set.
It will be released on May 8.

In an effort to keep their relationship both romantic and strong, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon renewed their marital vows in Paris on Friday night (April 27).
The 42-year-old Grammy-winning singer looked stunning in a white mermaid frock with a black bow wrapped around her waist as her 31-year-old husband of four years donned a white suit as he once again got down on one knee during the intimate affair.
Upon conclusion of the vows renewal ceremony, Mimi and Nick headed out on the town in the French capital city.
As for their destination, the good-looking couple opted for a swanky dinner at the Eiffel Tower's Le Jules Verne restaurant - during which onlookers tell that the pair appeared to be having a "wonderful time".
The trip to Paris comes just after Cannon was honored at the Common Sense Media Awards for his work with various children's charities.
Of the accolade, Nick posted a message on his website, which reads: "t was truly an honor to be recognized during this year's Common Sense Media Awards in San Francisco last night. Common Sense Media is a non-profit organization that's dedicated to helping parents and teachers assist kids with improving their experience with media and technology."
