While promotingThe Butler, Mariah Carey talked about one scene in particular where a white woman spits on a black college student. Coming from a biracial family, she says that exact thing happened to her as a child.
Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, she said, “That actually happened to me.” She added: “I know people would be in shock and not really want to believe or accept that, but it did. That right there that was almost the deepest thing to me in the movie because I know what she went through – and it happened to be a bus as well. It was a school bus, in the face and in the same way.”
That incident probably provided the motivation she needed to become the person she is today. And that she finally found the person that spat in her face and kicked them in the balls. Mariah seems like the type that can really hold a grudge.

Nick Cannon talked to Toofab and revealed that Mariah Carey might have nerve damage in her arm after dislocating her shoulder while filming her new music video.
She?s doing a lot better, but she still doesn?t have movement in her right arm, there?s nerve damage. Her shoulder is definitely a lot better, back in place, but she also had some cracked ribs. She can?t move. The fact that she doesn?t have use of her right arm right now has been pretty tough on her, but the doctor said with a lot more rest and relaxation she?ll be fine.
I like how Nick puffs up her injury and then explains that as long as she rests, she’ll be fine. It went from “OMG, nerve damage! This sounds serious!,” too, “Eh, it’s just a few nerves, dude.” This guy blows more things out of proportion than a porn camera.

Refusing to let an injury slow her down or keep her from looking fabulous, Mariah Carey performed with a sling on her arm in Central Park for the All-Star Charity Concert to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims on Saturday (July 13).
Costumes included a sleeveless white, rhinestone embellished gown and a tight black shimmering dress, both complete with matching arm slings!
Showing off her stylish supports, the "Heartbreaker" singer asked the crowd, "We like it?!" Later she admitted to the audience that she was "in a tiny bit of pain, but I'm OK."
Backed by the New York Philharmonic, the 43-year-old diva belted out "My All," "Looking In," and "#Beautiful" before closing the show with the crowd pleasing, "Hero."

Mariah Carey is currently sporting a sling after dislocating her shoulder on the set of her new music video. Carey went to the hospital in New York late Sunday after suffering the injury while filming a remix version of her song #Beautiful directed by Nick Cannon.Carey’s rep said doctors reset her shoulder and she’s fine.
However, Nick is saying the injury is much more serious than reported. “She was in this nice, beautiful gown, heels on and everything, and was kind of on this platform and reached and slipped and fell on her whole side,” Cannon said. “It was pretty serious. Not only did she dislocate her shoulder, she actually cracked a rib and … she chipped her shoulder bone.”
And I bet she walked 10 miles uphill in the snow to the hospital and back, too!

Showing off her singing prowess, Mariah Carey showed up at the 2013 BET Awards last night (June 30) to perform her hit single ?#Beautiful.?
Joined by Young Jeezy and Miguel, the ?Honey? hottie looked gorgeous as she belted out a few of those uber-high notes she?s known for.
However, there?s been speculation that Ms. Carey?s crooning wasn?t the real deal, and that she relied on a pre-recorded vocal track for the gig.
While Twitter was rife with lip-synching claims, an industry insider told press, ?At around 2:15 to 2:21 in the clip she appears to be out of sync with the audio. That?s the one spot I think could be the giveaway that she?s lip syncing. [But] sometimes a slight delay in the audio sync to the video can also make someone look like they are lip syncing when they are not. It could just be a bad edit.?

Here is Mariah Carey wearing bikini top successfully held on for dear life as the singer climbed onto her boat off the coast of Italy.
Mariah and Miguel went swimming in the blue grotto, off the island of Capri, and hopped on a yacht after climbing out of the water. The duo have been spending time together since collaborating on the song “Beautiful,” which was released last month and is a track off Mariah’s highly anticipated 13th studio album.

Stepping out in the Big Apple, Mariah Carey left the Ritz-Carlton to head to "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Friday (March 1).
The "American Idol" judge looked great in a black leather jacket over a knee-length black dress as she took time to greet fans outside the hotel.
As she waited in the limo, the 42-year-old diva tweeted a pic with the caption, "Going to play games or something w Jimmy."
During their chat, Mimi talked with the host about doing their video of "All I Want for Christmas is You" with classroom instruments, her special language with fans, and her upcoming album. Check out the full interview in the video below.

Here’s a funny reminder that Mariah Carey isn’t just a diva when it comes to her job – she’s committed to being a diva in all aspects of her life, including her diet. Star Magazine (I know) reports that Mariah stays slim by eating only foods that are purple three days a week. (Do Nerds, Skittles and Laffy Taffy count? Nick and Mariah have an entire candy room in their house that’s set up like a store at the mall. I’m not kidding, Nick gave PopSugar a tour.)
Mariah Carey may love wearing the color pink, but she’s eating only purple! The diva has thrown herself into a new diet: three days a week, she eats purple foods like plums, grapes and eggplants – and is already loving the results. “They say a plum a day keeps the face-lifts away, and Mariah’s loving her sexy new shape,” and insider tells Star. Mariah herself admits that she needs to get creative with slimming down. “Since having the babies, I realize that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet.” Do purple skittles count?

Years ago I saw a nutritionist on Oprah explaining that purple foods have the most phytonutrients or something, and that when you shop you should strive to get colorful fruits and vegetables for that reason. It sounds like a quack way to diet, but if it works for Mariah that’s all that matters I guess. She’s probably getting enough nutrients and protein if she only eats that way three days a week.
Mariah is also a strong proponent of the Photoshop diet, as evidenced by this latest bikini photo she’s released to the press. We posted this yesterday, but let’s revisit it.

Fulfilling some promotional duties, the judging panel of ?American Idol? showed up at FOX?s 2013 Winter TCA Tour in Pasadena, California last night (January 8).
The Langham Hotel was a little hotter thanks to the presence of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, and Keith Urban as they fielded questions during a press conference.
Regarding her rumored feud with Minaj, Mariah explained, ?Time heals all wounds. Nicki added, ?We?re professionals. Have you ever had an argument with someone you work with??
Carey added, ?It is what it is. ['Idol' is] bigger than all that ... bigger than some stupid, trumped-up thing."
?American Idol? kicks off the new season on January 16th.
